simple little idea that ended up being kind of complicated to execute. sent it in a little while ago to the ponies at dawn album which came out last week c: been a little busy so it's taken me longer than normal to upload here. if you're reading this, thanks for being here!

way out above the house beyond the hill there was a pegasus boy
who used to sing of the absurdity of his mind
and so reluctant to be confined to something serious

and he would laugh and venture down to sit inside the gallery hall
stay by the wall and try to paint what he couldn't see
and accidentally conjured me by some coincidence

and how I was alive and how my soul came crashing out of the void
I didn't question it, I thought it would be unkind
it's just the way that I was designed, that's why I went with it

don't awaken me
we're still flying

and all the creatures there below us
may be dying

don't say a word
i won't listen

down in the atrium
that pegasus is trying

to slip away
does this all the time

i know i'll see him
when his business is concluded

happy to wait here
that will be fine

and when it's over
there will come a sudden moment

when i will gather all the
poetry and painting

and all the waters will go quiet
and remarkably clear

that's how i know that i can stay
unreservedly undefined, forever far away

oh the days of silence
a still and soft defiance
is still in here within me
hills and plains so windy

the salt and shape of seabirds
another shade of blue
another playful moment
that i don't quite remember
