Pinkiepieswear, though you'll never read this comment, I just wanted to thank you. I want to thank you for how much you've impacted my childhood. Ever since I joined this fandom (December 2011), I've always enjoyed the small amount of songs you out out. Listening to all your music again is- it's like a experience like no other; all your songs were and and still are so atmospheric and packed with nostalgia.. My eyes are too teary for me to even see what I'm even typing so I'mma stop here.

I hope to whoever reads this comment, you can see where I'm coming from.

I've listened to this a total of 1747 times according to itunes. I listen to this when I have trouble sleeping. It's a really relaxing song and brings back feelings of nostalgia when I listen to it. Thank you for making this.

When fall starts to come on, I get this ridiculous shift in mood. I go from a hyper, talkative, headbanging, crowd-pleasing ball of energy to an incredibly reserved, mellow, and less emotionally stable guy. Wow. This is really incredible. It has that sound that I love in music. It' hard to describe. I could use the word ephemeral but there are other songs that are ephemeral without this particular quality. The closest I can get it saying it has a glassy, crystal sound to it. This is immensely beautiful. When I try to fall asleep at night and I can't most nights, I listen to this song and look at the night sky through my window. I cry sometimes, but that's only because the beauty of the song and how I want to live in their world.

I'm having a little girl in December and I've started putting together a playlist of calming music (Her name is Celes, so of course the first song that went on the list was Celes' Theme from FFIV) After finding this song, I have since added it to my list. When I close my eyes while listening to this and focus on the sounds, colors fill my inner eye. The colors of autumn; the warm and vibrant hues of red, orange, yellow, and smidgets of cool green and blue so subtle they are barely noticed, but without them there would seem to be something significant missing. I doze off even more to think about sunsets and the arrival of the stars staring down upon me on a cool autumn night spent the beach alone with just nature to accompany me. Then it ends.

As soon as the first note hit my attentive ears, my mouse hit the subscribe button that was ever so near. You got some serious skills my friend and that goes without saying. I eagerly await your next song with great anticipation. These words I say are no understatement, thumbs up if you agree with this conversation.

Listening to this song and reading some of the Luna comments, makes me think of her story in the 1st episode. All she wanted was some appreciation for the work she did on the night, maybe, just maybe. If Luna had a friend that appreciated her, like in the White Eclipse comic, then things might have been different for her.

I closed my eyes and turned this song on. I was crying about everything bad in my life. Luna came to comfort me with a soft smile. I open up to her about my whole life and how I wanted it escape and stay near her, being comforted and cared for. She tells me to look up, and when I do she paints me a beautiful night sky unlike any ive ever seen. All I can do is look at it, tears flowing down my cheeks. I hug her tightly and cry my eyes out, telling her to never leave. I'm crying while typing this

luna is by far my most favorite pony. She only shows up twice in the entire show so far..pretty sad. But for some reason for a pony that doesn't show up that much, there sure is a bunch about her that people know. I really want her to start showing up in later episodes. :l

I always thought of Luna and Nightmare Moon as two separate ponies, kind of like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. This is why Luna was so quick to accept her sister's friendship. The hatred, anger, and jealousy caused her to transform into NMM, and because of NMM decision to try and make night last forever, Luna was trapped on the moon for 1000 years. 1000 years of solitude, save her feelings of bitter hate and contempt. That's why I find Luna to be a victim.

This kind of reminds me of the "Dearly Beloved" track from the Kingdom Hearts games, the one that plays in the main menus. I always thought it was very beautiful, and so is this.

Luna would be pleased, and found humming this to herself as she guides the moon and shapes the stars of the sky for those of us who love the night.

Actually, the popular fan perception is that it wasn't Luna at all. She was 'posessed' by some outside force like Discord or the Windigos that feeds on envy and insecurity. Those feelings were so strong in her that it was able to take her over and force her to do what she did. Of course the creators have wisely left out most of the details and left us to make up our own minds, but that would explain why she was so different so suddenly after being defeated as nightmare moon.

This song reminds of the rare moments of peace in dark times long past. Y'see, my dad is technically my stepfather. My REAL father was a jerk. As in, wife-beating, child-beating jerk. Anyway, those times were not pleasant. But, there were times when my Mom would draw at her art table. While she drew, she would play Yanni or Enya CDs. My sisters and I would sit underneath the table when she did this because we felt safe there. Thank you for this song, this reminder of hope in the darkness.

The only thing else I am able to think of is Twilight Sparkle and her wonderful friends. I could not believe, however, that my sister would do such a terrible thing for such a small crime.. though I have learned. Luna rejected her sister and tried to bring never-ending night. She was jealous that while the ponies of Equestria played and laughed during the day, during her night they simply slept through it, not appreciating it. However, instead of working anything out, she turned from her sister; and consumed with jealousy, refused to lower the moon to allow the sun to rise. She turned into Nightmare Moon, and was only stopped after Celestia harnessed the most powerful magic possible. It wasn't small.

this song sounds so majestic while high

i've always been sensitive to sunlight, hence the username and vampire jokes made about me. to me, daytime means school and work. nighttime, however, brings beauty. you can't see meteor showers, the northern lights, or the stars during the day. i've always found darkness inspiring. what i'm really getting at is, though, i would have been the one nocturnal pony that was sad to see luna banished. i don't think i would have minded eternal night, or maybe just a very long one.

Is this official? Luna's my favorite Pony, so I hope to God (and Celestia) that this is true and that there will be more Luna.

Think of it this way though; say you had an older sibling (if you do use them) and they played an instrument, lets say guitar, and you also played an instrument, piano. You both can play your respective instrument very well but everyone pays attention to your sibling because the guitar is cooler. So in spite you set out to destroy the guitar. This is the thinking of Luna, she is tired of being cast in the shadow of her sister even though she also does something amazing.

Not really. It's sort of like a good book in English class. You read it once and enjoy it. Then you go over it again and discover the deeper meanings in it. Animal Farm is a perfect example of a book like that. Even if the developers didn't intend this deep meaning, it's still there just unintentinally waiting to be found.

One thing i really want to see them do with this show is make a episode showing back when luna turned into nightmare moon. That would make me so happeh :3

@johnbs7 If you like bittersweet you might want to check out Past Sins. It is more mature than your average MLP story but still sticks very close to the original.

I know. She was justly punished, but it's similar to the way that people were so enticed by Ted Bundy or how some people are obsessed with Charles Manson or something like that. I do love Luna, but that's because I love psychology and she's just full of unstable tendencies, much like Trixie(who is another favourite of mine). (Ran out of space) It wasn't a small crime at all. Think of all the things that rely on the Sun, and you get an idea of how very "big" deal it was the Luna was trying to rid Equestria of it forever. Combine this with the fact that Celestia did seem to be "gotten rid of", and only returned with the rising of the sun when Nightmare Moon's power was broken, and It seems pretty clear she had something to do with Celestia's dissapearance.

@donpingwin It all depends on size. If we go off human sized instruments and pony sizes, it's a Cello, but if we adjust sizes of instruments, its a Double Bass. But whatever it doesn't really matter that much...

I guess Luna represents My Little Pony as a whole. I mean look at the similarities, Luna used to be good but she turned into Nightmare Moon, then ponies became scared of her. MLP was good, then came G3, and its "apparent" bad rep (being targeted towards little girls), now some frown upon it. Gladly though, some were able to see things for what they truly are. I'm not aware that I implied that there wasn't. I was just saying, she's repented and wants to be accepted back into the society. She knows that it isn't an easy task and probably often gets frustrated that things aren't accelerating the way she wants them to; many of the ponyfolk are still afraid of her-- which they have reason to be. Just because there is reason for the fear and dislike, doesn't mean she has to like it. She's now seen as 'alone', and that's where the "pity party" comes from.

You don't need telescopes or science to appreciate the stars. There's a reason for there being so many: to strike awe, to glorify their creator. Humanity has always wondered about the stars. The development of telescopes and astronomy came about BECAUSE humanity was interested in the stars and wanted to know more. And this happened a couple thousand years ago for humanity. Assuming ponies are about 100 years behind humanity, they would have had astronomy during the time of Luna.
