I started watching and interacting with mlp very early 2012, around the end of the second season and a bit before this song was released. I miss the early times of the fandom. Not that its bad now, its just... different. All the creativity on youtube and other places surrounding the first 2 seasons were insane. You could click around on related mlp videos for hours and find hundreds of budding musicians like yourself. Now most have moved onto bigger and better things but its nice to see you're one who hasn't forgotten. (and deleted your youtube in an effort to commit brony internet suicide.. like some people...) Thank you Replacer for the nostalgia and great times

As a recording engineer, I must say that this is actually a superbly recorded song! Everything is extremely crisp and clean sounding, nothing overlaps anything else, there's no mud in the mix or anything. The vocals sit very nice and compliment the instrumentation spectacularly. Very good work, Replacer!

Amazing work of art, I forget if I every gave a comment stating how much I loved this song or not. Either way it deserves two anyway. The notes hit deep into the mind, and perfect personification of a pony. Very relatable but has a sound and feeling of far away for a sense of hope. Awesome work I don't understand why you have so few subs! You deserve a full career off of this stuff.

This is where everything started for me. This is the very first song I heard and I've been listening it for years. Until I got curious about what other songs you post. Now I heard all of your songs (Including Can't Be Real). I love your songs man

I've grown away from this fandom but I do have to say it's the most productive and creative out of all others. I have about a thousand brony songs on my phone from over the years.

It's been 3 years, a lot has happened since then, I've loved, I've lost everything, I've changed fundamentally as a person. But if there's anything that I can say with certainty anymore, it's this: This song is still beautiful.

I'm going back and listening to a lot of the brony music I was into ~4 years ago and this one really stands out as a song that has aged very well. Everything about it from the composition to the instrumentation to the mix is on point. I’m not into MLP anymore but I’m going through a break up and I found myself returning to this song five years later. The lyrics so perfectly describe my situation somehow, and it’s so nice to be able to understand my feeling through this beautiful song. “I hope that nobody replaces me” is just too real and I can’t stop crying

Just wanted to come back here to comment that.. this song is one of the few songs that got me into brony music. I remember when I was like 10 (early 2013) and I went home one day and got on YouTube (it was late at night at the time) then, as usual, watched pony videos on my family's Computer (hella cringe, ik). Instead of watching episodes, pmv's, and fanmade videos that day I searched up "pony songs" I think then, I scrolled down a bit and found this. I listened to this song and... It made me want more! Ever since I've loved the music this fandom has produced. I've been a brony since 2011 but it wasn't until late 2012 - early 2013ish that I got into the music side of this fandom (ik, I said early 2013 earlier but tbh... I don't remember whether it was late 2012 or early-ish 2013).

In general I just wanted to say thank you Replacer, that you for helping me to discover the music side of this fandom. And yes, I know that sounds really random but it's true. It didn't all start with this song but it was this song that, in a way, reeled me in more. I honestly would've thought that, before I found this fandom in 2011, that a show about colorful ponies and freindship would make such an impact on my life. And I also wouldn't have imagined that the fandom that emerged from it would mean so much to as well.

Replacer's one of the most dynamic musicians I've ever heard. Every piece is something new, and yet he executes different genres so well. This piece, to me, captures melancholic happiness - bittersweet.

Oh wow. I love the vocal to this, how it sounds really quiet and almost whispered. The mixture of orchestral timbres with a jungle beat is quite inspired. And sweet jesus, that piano solo in the middle. This is straight up fantastic!

I've always seen this "earth pony" to be representative of the somepony who is dear to Replacer. Someone he care for, but yet to find. An audience he only wish to care for. He fears that he isn't, but hopes he's still a "down to earth" pony.

I was in England recently and had very limited internet access. The day I was about to leave the only place I could access internet on I snatched an Eqd post of this song, so I downloaded it to my MP3 without listing to it first. Then while traveling in a rental car through the country-side i played it in my ears... It was so undescribingly glorious. I re listened it many times then during stays on hotels, and on the airplane back.

You astound me, you honestly do. And I hate to say this, but if you were to do some non-pony tracks I honestly think you could be a successful independent artist and sell your work.

I can't help but imagine to this song a packed house in a stadium at canterlot, which in flashing lights outside says REPLACER LIVE. And on the inside, you see a stadium full of cheering ponies, including the Mane six and everyone's favorite backgrounders. As smoke comes out on the stage, they chant "RE-PLACE-ER! RE-PLACE-ER!" Then Repalcer comes out and starts singing, and everything goes quiet. As the sogn palys, unicorns light up their horns and swing along to the music.

When I heard this one and then Elie Monty's/Sim Gretina's song Again my mind combined them into a story. This one would take place after Again. I mean the peguses is blue in both songs and they both feature an earth mare. In Again it would be her pov, but afterwards something happens to her and then Song for an Earth Pony happens. It's from his perspective and he's mourning her. The lyrics even fit. In Again she says she wasnt to fly then here, he says he hopes she'll fly one day. Idk just me...

Before, I was looking deep into the brony music community, but I always got too distracted by other musicians to check out your channel. Though I'm still hunting for more musicians, I was able to get here some time ago. Only just now was I able to notice how low the views are. Don't get me wrong, a hundred thousand is great, but I always thought of this song as more of a brony classic, and expected to see this close to a million. Regardless; to anyone who's ever heard it, this is a classic.

You could try downloading the midi and seeing which notes are being played by putting it through synthesia or a DAW like FL studio. I think since it's a midi you'll be able to see each note played by each instrument. A word of warning though, the Midi sounds horrible since it uses the same instrument for each channel, but you can probably figure out which channel should be which instrument by comparing it to the original track! ... I mean, that's how I'd do it, I guess you could do it by ear!

Looking at the comments here, I find it interesting how much people's interpretations diverge. I always thought it pretty obvious that this was a song about fame, and how it doesn't make you better but it makes people treat you like you're better than them. It's about feelings of inadequacy that you can't express to the people who look up to you, isn't it?

I mean, "sometimes I think it's all I'm good for" seems pretty blatant. And flight is clearly being used as a metaphor for fame. The only thing I've never been able to decide is whether that earth pony for whom you do not think you are good enough represents a real person.

ALL THE AWARDS /) Does anyone agree with my view of the story?: The pegasus had a special somepony who was an earth pony and was caught in an accident and died. The pegasus, which I dub Falling Notes, wasn't there when the accident occured and tried to find the earth pony, while subconciously realizing from the start that she was dead, but searched anyway.

I just always kind of imagined it was a meta song.
