What Happened to Twilight?

I'm actually crying and honestly the only thing I see is that I don't think Twilight became a mortal I think she sacrificed herself completely the last form being an earth pony. Each crystal took an element her wings her horn and finally her strength as an earth pony - the day she made those crystals was the last day she lived. Thank You for this video

What if she turned herself into the gems, thus she became the embodiment of the friendship and magic between the races. That’s why the gems only worked when the three races came together. To everyone else, Twilight simply disappeared, but she lives on through the magic of friendship.

I think the most painful part of the "Twilight sacrificed her physical and magical being to create the crystals" is that around the crystals are the white bubbles with three rays each that when combined would be a star the same colour as Twilight's, which makes it more likely that she literally split herself apart rather than metaphorically

Here’s my theory, and I think it’s a lot simpler: when alicorns “die”, their magic becomes automatic in a way.

Also to preface I know in the IDW Comics Twilight is tasked with raising the sun after Celestia and Luna “leave” but the comics have always had questionable canonicity. I think that alicorns live longer, by a lot, but they still die in the end. When Celestia and Luna died, their power went into the sun and moon so the cycle would be powered automatically. But... friendship? That’s not a natural process like day and night. So how do you make that run naturally?

When Twilight died, her alicorn magic went into the crystals to unite all ponies as friends. The crystals are kinda like Excalibur; not just anyone can wield them. But they’re symbols of peace above all else, just something to represent unity among ponies long after Twilight has been forgotten as all but seemingly myth. They’re just waiting for the right pony to come along IF things go awry to put things back in order as the new princess of friendship.

I honestly agree with your theory that twilight sacrificed herself for the future generations of MLP, and I honestly think that her sacrifice what the most powerful sacrifice that she could have ever done. Not for the sake of magic itself, but for the long lasting friendship that will continue for generations to come and go

Suddenly, Hasbro saying that twilight wouldn't outlive her friends has a whole new context.

What makes this even more sad, is that if twilight turned back into a mortal, presumably the same age as before she mecame immortal, then all of her friends would have been much older than her, and would die before her, leaving her alone in her final years alive, having sacrificed literally everything only to be forgotten

My theory was that after Twilight outlived her friends, she saw no point in continuing and channeled all of her magic into the crystals, where she never even lived afterwards. Many didn't understand what happened that day and thought it was the cause of someone else. This is what formed the rift between everyone and eventually, it erupted into a deadly war destroying much of Equestria, leaving only three cities to remain.

This is certainly a (sad) possibility. Although I like to think that Twilight, always enthusiastic about space and stargazing, went off to found a new pony colony on a different planet and left this triple artifact so that Equestrians would still have access to alicorn magic.

At 3:58 it shows the three parts of the new gem right? Well each picture of the gem has a part of Twilight's mark. Look. The one in the middle has one going up and two diagenonly down. The one on the right has the same but turned sideways. Same with the one on the left. If you put them together it makes Twilight's cutie mark.
Could that have something to do with it? Maybe Twilight seperated her magic into each gem!

You have a brilliant mind to put this all together, and I'd like to see what you can create with it, because I highly doubt the writers had this much forethought and that this was their actual intention.

Despite that, your interpretation is most satisfying and most acceptable.

Also, it reflects highly on Twilight Sparkles name.

Sparkle, a flash of light, brief in its brilliance,, and beautiful if seen, and highly regarded as a magical moment.
Twilight Sparkle, always meant to be the queen to Day and Night...always meant to rein...for just a moment.

This makes me happy...because if this calamity happened shortly after the end of the series...
She might have both lived and died... along with her friends...
Thus...she didn't lose the "magic"...she still had what truly mattered...friendship.

That...would have been a great final movie to this show, leading into this one.

I find it hard to believe that Equestria would fall under Twilight's rule, knowing her. And I don't think Twilight could un-alicorn herself. Plus, I like her better as an alicorn.

Well Twlkght didn’t die completely. I believe when the magic was released, it sought out its original host Twilight. When it couldn’t find her, it sought a pony that was similar to her which ended up being Sunny. That is why Sunny turned into an Alicorn. I don’t think Twilight made it past the reverting stage. It most likely killed her. I honestly believe that Twilights power is the key to finding a way to bring back magic without the use of artifacts. Twilight most likely didn’t have time to figure out how to use her power to bring back magic the old fashioned way and so went with Plan B: distributing her magic to earth pony’s, unicorn pony’s, and Pegasus pony’s.

Another thing that I’m using to back up my claim is Sunny’s Alicorn form is not normal. Her horn and wings shouldn’t disappear like they did in Make Your Mark. They should be solid. They shouldn’t look the way they do. The magic hasn’t really bonded to her completely. Maybe it’s cuz she is not the original host and so the magic is having a hard time sticking, or maybe it’s cuz Sunny hasn’t found a way to bring back magic without artifacts and the magic is semi stuck in the artifacts

I had a random bathroom thought to complement your theory... Here me out, what if, the reason the three tribes had to separate wasn't out of raised tension or fighting, but out of protecting themselves and each other? Say like, a new catastrophic and Deadly creature or villain came around that thrived/gained power off the three tribes being In the same place? So this creature(s) could individually absorb the three different magics together and grow stronger/use THAT against them? And so to protect themselves, they made three new separate colonies so this villain couldn't utilize this power. And that would also explain why twilight (perhaps joined by all other existing alicorns) would feel the need to sacrifice herself and split her three tribe magics into these artifacts for each race to take with them as a reminder to stay connected even as they're separated, so this villain couldn't take advantage of alicorns already having all three magics. Perhaps this villain would eventually be defeated by the young six or the friend group that luster dawn creates for herself, as this would take place after twilights friends have passed away and thus she's no longer strong enough to create a magical friendship rainbow laser all on her own. But by the time it's defeated the three tribes have already made new lives for themselves and don't want to risk going back to the way things were, but did still visit each other from time to time, which is why they had that station with the stained glass in the pegasus colony. But over the hundreds or thousands of years time, they eventually grew apart, and rumors and hearsay started spreading about the other tribes, and that's what brings us to the beginning of gen5. It would also explain why the wendigos were not present as tensions would rise only after they were already separated so there was no fighting to provoke the wendigos. what do you think?

Interesting theory. But it makes you wonder what happened to the other alicorns. Surely, Flurryheart and Cadance would continue her legacy right? Unless the Crystal Empire disappeared again.

Wasn't able to comment on your previous video, but watching this one as well made me put more detail into my theory. What if G5 is actually an alternate universe? When the 3 villains separated the tribes, the young 6 weren't able to bring everyone together, leaving the mane 6 unable to overpower them. Twilight decided to create an artifact that contained the magic of each tribe and even transferred her own essence of the 3 to create an artifact that could stop the 3 villains. It worked, but the three tribes were still separated and they actually split the artifact into 3 to keep the magic of each tribe for themselves, destroying the magic of unity and friendship. As each piece remained separate and the three tribes kept each other in isolation, magic no longer had a positive source of energy and as such, disappeared. what remained of Twilight's essence, the elements of harmony and the magic that fed off unity was stuck inside 3 artifacts that, separated, had no purpose. Was this a good theory?

When watching the new G5 version, I kept pausing and saying outlaid, "did I actually miss something? What the hell happened? How long has it been?" -- I did enjoy the new film a lot, a lot more than I expected, but I felt they didn't do the best job of explaining the gap between G4 and G5. The creators cannot be that stupid, they HAVE to know G4 fans are going to at minimum see the first movie.

This explanation makes a lot of sense, though I'm personally someone who hasn't been able to make herself watch the new show. The only questions I have are what happened to the other alicorns (Luna and Celestia as well as Flurry Heart, etc.), to the other races (changelings, etc.), and why Sunny didnt actually become an alicorn

This theory makes a lot of sense tbh, though there is something I’m still wondering. What was the crisis? What made all the innate magic disappear from equestria??? Why did everypony lose their innate magic that twilight had to make such a sacrifice?

But this begs the question: What happened to the Crystal Empire, Changelings, Yaks, and all the species and sub species we were introduced to in gen 4? And what's what with Zacora, now that I think about it?

I think this also makes sense as to why Sunny is given transparent alicorn features. If the magic within the crystals were limited, then they might not have enough magic to fully transform her into an alicorn like when Twilight became one.

Just a couple of things: What happened to all of the other species in Equestria? AND What happened to Luna,Celstia,Cadence, and Flurry Heart. Flurry was just a baby so being an alicorn (with long lifespan) where is she now?

Is it bad I only want a second Movie of Mlp: a new generation to not only watch the characters, but also discover other plot events that happened after Mlp: Friendship is Magic ended? Like, I’m generally curious as to what happened after the show’s conculsion, and I think it would be an interesting thing to see the mane six, and/or the princesses give them a sort of “vision.”

I have a theory that Sunny's dad was somehow related to Twilight's honorary family member in Once Upon a Zeppelin

I have a feeling that the artifacts were created by Twilights body.
the Pegasus piece was made from her wings, the Unicorn piece from her horn and the Earth pony piece from her Earth pony strength.

Twilight, in the split moment before her use of unicorn magic faded, injected the pieces with the magic from which she drained from herself, most likely for its protection against an enemy of Equestria, then her friends gifted the artifacts to the designated tribes and entrusted them to protect the pieces until the time comes where they can be safely reunited and bring back magic once again.

The elements of Harmony and their tree probably shriveled away, resulting in the Everfree Forest taking over.
But pony-kind hid and survived the overtake, and when the chaos settled, they emerged into a landscape that ran completely automatically, no more would the clouds need the Pegasus or the sun need the unicorn, the world now took care of itself.

But they, just like you said, began to view the relics as more important then what their former ruler envisioned, which was the nurturing of friendship. as the years went by they started to look down on the other tribes and in return started mass-producing propagandist reasons for why their tribes are better, strongly influencing the ideologies of the common folk and even the future rulers themselves.

In time the relics original values started to get questioned, then it dwindled and soon became forgotten, but the ponies were so influenced by the propaganda that was shoved down their throats their whole lives that they refused to believe that they were even of the same species with the other tribes, so they slinked away into isolation, rewrote their histories and kept their distance ever since.

For the other Alicorns, its possible that Celestia, Luna, Cadence and Flurry Heart sealed themselves within the Crystal Empire and used their combined magic to make it disappear again in order to protect both their magic and the magic within the empire itself, all under the orders to Twilight Sparkle. at the end of the movie, the lights in the sky could indicate that the spell the Princesses put on the Crystal Empire was broken, revealing it to the world and allowing the princesses to return and re-establish their positions as the reigning monarchs of pony-kind once more.

(Guys this is literally what I imagined what could've happened don't kill me-)

This also makes me have an idea of another movie concept: at the beginning, Celestia, Luna and the other alicorns are shown to be on another (unknown) island but the other ponies don’t know, then there is a sudden crisis that rises (idk what crisis) and only the most powerful alicorn that ever existed can phase the crisis (I assume Twilight is the most powerful alicorn), then the ponies soon discover that Twilight actually existed and she created the artifacts, so then Sunny and the others (Mane 5 as I call them) try to bring back Twilight by trying to merge all the artifacts together, but they can’t do that, so they journey across the world to find at least 1 small thing for a clue on how to merge the artifacts together, and in the middle of that, they discover the island where all the other alicorns live, and they meet them. I’m gonna try to continue this on a later day

Usually, I find your theories far fetched while just enjoying them, but this one sounds like it could actually be canon.

This theory is great, but I think the crystals are what's left of Twilight. Since she was born a unicorn, I don't think she could lose it. I also don't believe she became an earth pony because there was magic in it too. I rather believe that she split herself into three, three crystals. The reason she would have done this could simply be that she was made too old and had no one to replace her. This theory would explain why the pony tribes all split up, no longer having a leader capable of unifying them all. I just wonder who are the ponies to whom she entrusted the crystals and which can be seen on the stained glass windows.

I had a feeling that something like this had happened between the MLP series and the movie.
This is something that is interesting to think about, though. Twighlight taking all her magical powers, and seperating them into 3 atrifacts for the rest of the Pony world to rely on for generations, in hope that everypony could learn the meaning and importance of unity between earthponies, unicorns and pegagyses.

I agree with this theory only partially, I think the antiques(or however you spell it) are right. However, I think Twilight realized the evil trio was going to come back soon so Twilight imprisoned the magic in those antiques

My theory to the crystals is that in time as Twilight's friends passed away, she felt so alone and hurt. Huge void slowly destroyed her soul. I have always imagined that after her friends died, Twilight would become evil, dark version of herself 'cause the sorrow and pain. She doesn't want to live without her dear friends. But Sawtooth Waves theory about the crystals makes sense to me. So after all Twilight can't get over her friends death and she sees away out by creating the crystals and sacrificing her alicorn magic by doing so. After being mortal again, she could finally end her days and go there where her friends have been waiting for her.
But that's just my theory.

I think that the artefacts were a way for ponies to come together. In the first 2 episodes of MLP G4, the mane 6 looking for the Elements of Harmony brought them together. They wanted Princess Celestia back and for Nightmare Moon to be defeated. In G5, the mane 5 looking for the crystals also helped bring them together whilst making them have hope that they could have their magic.

From the way you depicted her after you concluded her un-alicorning, and your theory on how alicorns are made, she probably didn’t die of old age, but of making the crystals. From time stamp 5:31-5:42 you said she split the unicorn, pegasus, and earth pony magic apart and put them into the crystals. Then you depicted her as an earth pony, without the magic from all three tribes. But if her physical figure changed after the de transformation, and she didn’t have any of the magic, and her wings (pegasus), her horn (unicorn) disappeared, and she was left with the earth pony form, but no earth pony magic, then her entire physical form must’ve disappeared.

This also explains where the wendigos are, or the other magical creatures. As magical creatures, when the magic was destroyed, they would eventually be decayed into their most basil forms.

For a second I thought the conclusion you were going to come to is that Twilight sacrificed her own existence in order to make the crystals. I feel like that makes sense since an alicorn contains unicorn magic, pegasus magic and earth pony magic, so what's left of Twilight if she sacrifices all three?

It would also explain why Sunny turned into an Alicorn in the end, because she shared the same ideals as Twilight and brought unity and friendship to people, which ultimately made the artifacts glow and return the world's magic.

Yes, there is a comic which says that twilight made the crystals, because one pony wanted to break apart all of equestrian and discord shows up he's pretty old. I was curious what happened to him, but he's still alive because he's immortal, I guess please check out this comic it's really cool and I think another one will be a release, the same one just part 2 I guess?

Its a pretty interesting theory, but there are a few things that you forgot to discuss. There was a war. Could that have been what caused Twilight to create the artifacts? And if she did give up her horn and wings, wouldn't that mean she also gave up her pony side too? Maybe her spirit was split into three pieces- unicorn, pegasai, and pony- and those spirits became the crystals. Could that mean when the crystals were joined together, allowing magic to return, Twilight's spirits could reawaken? Could we possibly see the return of Twilight Sparkle?

There is precedent for the ruling alicorn(s) transferring magical power to another vessel to protect it from theft or destruction. Twilight herself was that vessel at least twice, for all three of the other adult alicorns, most notably when Tirek was first introduced to G4.

So there's merit, here. Though why this was so desperate she did it this way, rather than entrusting the magical power to an ally or friend, is another question.

Also, the movie itself was...badly designed/written. The lack of trust between the tribes was shallow and superficial in a way that is unrealistic, and doesn't do justice to FiM's example of how to tell a story. The distrust between groups was, in all but one case I can think of, at least rooted in some real concerns that had to be resolved. It was almost never, "Er, uh, just 'cause they're not like us, and we made up some fake scare thing." (I mean, I kept wondering why the Earth Ponies weren't all wearing their masks to protect themselves from the unicorn-spread disease.)

The one time in G4 FiM we saw something that shallow, it was Chrysalis spreading really stupid rumors that nevertheless seemed to work. I figure she must've been lacing it with her Changeling Charm magic to make it be like D&D's suggestion spell: even though it's stupid, it was worded "reasonably enough" to magically be convincing.

Does that suggest that an evil Changeling is responsible for the tribes splitting up, since the reason was so incredibly shallow?

I had an idea that this was kinda like a new colony of the horses, twilight had a crisis at Equestria’s mainland- and transported a population offshore to a new continent/dimension as a fail safe just in case Equestria fell completely

The crystals are what she supplied( maybe in the same way as this video ) to keep their magic strong without an alicorn in the area

Like how they had the big transport area( the harbor, the ‘airport’ in the sky city ) I wonder if those were meant to help them travel back and forth- but they stopped traveling for some reason(magic running out, or equestrian just being forgotten after a few generations without magic, seen as a fairy tail

Possibly the crystals were a way to concentrate the magic of all of that species just in case they were invaded/as a last line of magical defense— but after they lost that element of friendship that tied them together, they lost the magic it supplied them, (but the crystals kept pulling magic- leaving their inert magic unusable)

This is such an inspiring story, and has such a moral too. Someone should really make a full story of Twilight Sparkle, beginning from childhood all the way to the years after her memorable sacrifice. (hint hint Sawtooth)

I feel like all the ponies had greater power at some point in the past and for some reason they had to band all their power together creating the first Alicorn and or corns. This could tie into the nature magic of surrounding ponies getting weaker over time cause maybe the alicorns were still drawing magic to maintain. The more alicorns there were the weaker the general population became. The key was the different populations bonds to one another but the magic was always there alicorns became like a deadbolt to lock up an abundance of magic. When celestia and luna removed themselves from the board the magic of the population suffered. If magic in general started bottoming out and Twilight figured out why she might have down graded herself and made a point to give each "tribe" as it were an equal portion of the magic she had contained and the key to accessing that power was the bond of friendship aka "Friendship is Magic". Noting the fact that we only see an alicorn again AFTER they bring all the pieces back together in a budding friendship among each tribe. Sadly I only think about it this way cause I have a 4 year old lil girl and we watch all the shows and movies together. I also watch Dragonball and Dragonball Super. I see Alicorns like Super Sayians mixed with Spirit bombs they absorb. And the reasoning why they're aren't more super sayians is cause theres a key to access it. Goku and Vegeta have to show others how to access it but before that they have to build them up to it and then unlock it through an event of serious anger rage. With the Spirit bomb and goku he's taking power from the local global or universal population and either using it to blow stuff up or taking it into him and juicing himself up. I get that comparing My Little Ponies to DBS is a far stretch and maybe weird but it's a concept I see. Notice theres only ever a few alicorns cause they don't naturally occur and they only show up under extreme situations. Flurryheart can be explained the same way in DBZ, S explain gohan, trunks, bra, gotan having an easier time transforming. Once it's unlocked its easier for the next generation to tap it and unlock it. Were Celestia and Luna Maintaining Alicorn through the magic stockpile they were given when they became Alicorns or were they slowly drawing from the population over time to keep it? I could be completely wrong and junk I don't consider myself a brony I just watch the shows and movies with my daughter she loves and I absorbed the storyline. Ok people of the internet rip me apart LOL...

I wonder if they would higher you if you applied to work for the show. You have a excellent way of story telling.

This might be an odd suggestion, but what if Twilight IS the crystal. Let me explain.

Some event was draining all the magic from Equestria so she separated her magics out, as you said. BUT now she has no magic what so ever. We've seen what no magic looks like in equestria twice, when Tirek/Cozy glow was draining it, and when Twilight herself drained the magic further from the creatures of Tartarus. If it is a truly dire situation that they are in, I could easily envision Twilight giving what is truly her all as a solution. So she would seperate her magic the same way she did with the creatures of Tartarus, separating not just the magic, but herself into her constituent parts; Earth pony, Pegasus, and Unicorn.

After watching the series I still think that’s the true story

Honestly, I sort of consider them to be different continuities. Like a take it or leave it kinda thing. G5 uses G4 as a base, but G4 doesn't necessarily have to lead to G5. Like one of those offshoot timelines from the comics. That's just my comfortable take.

I somewhat liked the movie, while still seeing flaws in it (but hey, it's the beginning of a completely new storyline. It's going to have some flaws in any case, I'm sure). I'm sure those flaws will get better as the first begins and progresses. But wow do I love this theory! It really does make sense with how you explained it! I hope this is real close at the least to what Hasbro has in store for the series!

To be honest I think that Twilight did sacrifice herself BUT she just turned into a spirit and I think is making sure magic still somewhat exist
though it is not evident Is still there.

What I think happened to the Crystal Empire was that an entire war or fight happened, like Sawtooth said, and the Crystal Heart shattered and Winter came again. Flurry Heart survived but, like Tempest, her horn got destroyed and blamed all the Earth Ponies and Unicorns. So she became Queen Haven. But I don’t know it’s my theory.

I've always felt like alicorns can still die, they just age way slower than the average pony.

Maybe the magic was slipping away from pony universe (sawtooth made a video on it) so to keep it safe she sacrificed her alicorn powers and asked the citizens too (in a respectful manner of course not like tirek) to keep it safe and with the time magic slipped on and on until everypony was magicless it's more like an investment than sacrifice but still Twilight sacrificed her alicorn powers, she must taken that as investment and ignored what she sacrificed 😞

This is the best theory! I was trying to figure out what happened, but this theory makes the most sense. I do wonder though, what if Twilight is the crystal? And what if there is a way to bring her back the way she was able to bring back Star Swirl the Bearded?

If you look closely, the purple "triangles" behind each of the crystals in the mural. If you put them together, they would match Twilight's Cutie Mark.

Hey! I've been watching your videos for a while, and I have my own theory about The Next Generation. In one of your videos, you did a time line without Twilight Sparkle. What if that timeline, IS The Next Generation? Think about it, if Twilight and Spike suddenly diaspeared, no one could replace them and Princess Celestia would have to find someone else. But what if she never did, and the tribes seperated. I don't know if this is a good theory or not, but I wanted to share my thoughts! I love your videos and can't wait to see more. :)

I agree with everything you said sawtooth, but if twilight's alicorn magic was again separated, the process couldn't have been seamless, some remnant of alicorn magic is still inside the crystals that she made which is why sunny became an alicorn. when the tribes were reunited it must have powered that remnant of alicorn magic and gave sunny alicorn magic. as for the different looks, the magic must have evolved and given her alicorn parts a new look, like how discord's magic seeds grew over many years. if you remember, there is a scene where the vines play a sort of whack-a-mole kind of game with applejack. it might have been a funny gag to laugh at, but it shows that its intelligence also evolved and it was learning applejack's movements. this might answer the question, I don't know. can you tell me what you think, sawtooth?

My theory is that whoever created the universe (the god pony) then divided her/his power to Celestia and Luna and let the rest of her/his magic wither away with time. Maybe Twilight knew about the continuous subdivision of magic and created the crystals to at least leave something behind for the future generations when she inevitably passes down her magic and fades away. She probably did the same thing with Celestia and Luna’s magic so day and night cycles could be run automatically (or that Celestia and Luna are still alive or that they are literally the sun and the moon and therefore cannot die).

The crystals activated when the tribes realized it was friendship they needed, which holds true to Twilight's ideals as well.

Not gonna lie if you think about it more, the theory that Twilight un-became an alicorn is just kind of dark. The theory legit says she sacrificed her magic that basically kept her from not dying. Basically what it means is Twilight is dead 😶 😳

I watched a lot of your videos relating to this topic and did some research of past canonical episodes and came up with this (Yes, I understand it's very long, but I took the liberty of investigating the most likely possibilities, cross-checking references, and bouncing around several theoretical ideas):
What if she saw a future where the magic would fade? Or a villain that would again attempt to rid the world of magic? I've seen your videos on how to reform Tirek, Chrysalis and Cozy Glow, and seeing as how effective the main characters are at converting villains into secondary or background characters, I don't think those three will be an issue in the future (at least long term). So what if an even more powerful villain stepped into the spotlight? I'll refer back to your video, "Did Grogar Bail Out Nightmare Moon?". As we know, Discord was only pretending to be Grogar to use Chrysalis, Tirek and Cozy Glow as pawns in his own plan to show Twilight and her friends that they were ready to take over the mantle from the royal sisters. In the segment with Dr. Wolf present, he mentioned that when Cozy Glow drained Equestria of it's magic there could've been a temporary weakening of the (theoretical) spell that had banished Grogar to the constellation we know as Aries. Well, what if he was right about what happened, but wrong about WHEN. As we know, powerful magic takes a lot of strength to conjure up. What if the spell was weakened enough for him to escape, but not yet take action? We've seen a situation similar to this before. Tirek. It's stated in the Season 4 finale (Twilight's Kingdom) that Tirek was able to escape when Cerberus had left it's post in Tartarus. The only time the show mentioned Cerberus leaving it's post was in Season 2, Episode 20 (It's About Time). This means that in the vague amount of time that passed between a little over 2 seasons, Tirek was free, but still weak. It took a long time for him to grow strong enough to take any action. This could theoretically apply to Grogar as well. And as it has been shown in the show, Grogar was most likely one of the most powerful creatures/villains in Equestria. His power was only rivaled by the wits of Gusty the Great. Brains beat brawn. All of this to say, if Twilight had a premonition of an event so catastrophic that she took such an extreme and desparate action like sacrificing herself to create the 3 crystals, perhaps she saw the return of a much stronger and wiser Grogar. One who had been watching over Equestria for many millennia, learning how to avoid defeat and plotting his return and ultimate revenge. He could grow to become even more powerful than beings such as Discord, a fully-powered Tirek, an possibly even the elements of Friendship. What if she creates the crystals as a counter-measure, one that she hopes Grogar won't see coming. Her friends call together the creatures of Equestria and beyond to once again stand together and defeat Grogar for the final time, getting rid of him for good. After his defeat, and the fall of Twilight, someone else picks up the mantle as ruler of Equestria. But, the ponies of Equestria slowly begin growing closer to their respective crystals as time goes on. The memory of the stand against Grogar and the magic of friendship fades and the three pony kinds finally go their separate ways, growing more distant as generations pass down new ideas and traditions, until the past is completely forgotten. But, to explain the building of the stained glass mural in Zephyr Heights, I want to estimate that it was probably built before the tribes had become hostile to each other, before the magic faded completely. But, then again, that's just a theory, a PONY THEORY!! 😅

Oh my god ! I can’t believe that you can see THAT connect. I mean, i did watch the movie my little pony a new generation but, how ever. Even when I watch that movie a hundred time, i still can’t see that connect between Twilight Sparkle and the crystal in the movie my little pony a new generation. This makes so much sense! Especially considering the fact that her friends probably aren’t immortal! She would die with them, the tribes would still have their magic, the unknown “crisis” would have been delayed for a while, it seems like it would have been her best solution.

So far this is the closest I think anyone has come to what makes the most sense. There is an intense emotion coming from the fact that it’s a mystery. It’s fascination. But I still wish we could have been there when it happened. I want the new generation ponies to delve into history and figure out what happened. I want them to tell us what happened to twilight. I wonder if she not only turned her alicorn magic Into crystals but also her land pony form into them as well. Sacrificing her figure and her life. It would make sense. The unicorn magic would be the blue crystal and the Pegasus magic would be the crystal that looks like wings. While… the land pony crystal would be the circle stone. Not only removing her wings and horn but also her physical being. Making the ultimate sacrifice. I cried a little bit.

I actually agree with you on Twilight's sacrifice for Equestria. The mural in the station under the Pegasus castle explains the event as perfect as you said it would. Very tragic, as a matter of fact. And maybe with magic gone, the mirror to the human world must've shut down completely as well.

Alternate thought on the crystals: Princess Twilight knew she wouldn't be able to teach everypony her lessons, so she created the crystals to let them "walk a mile in each others' horseshoes", so to speak. In the stained glass mural, the wings and the unicorn horn look like the ones Sunny got at the end of the show. That's great, but if all they do is give a pony new wings or new magic, why did the Earth Ponies need a crystal? My thought: The crystals didn't just give a pony new powers, it would take them as well. Any Pegasus or Unicorn would become a simple Earth Pony, no wings, no magic, for a short time.
What if the ponies separated the crystals and tried to hide them to make sure they never lost their special magics?

Tbh I was thinking that she sacrificed EVERYTHING about herself; wings, horns and body, and maybe even sort of turned herself into those crystals. As for the other alicorns, maybe smth happened to them that caused them to be unconscious and trapped (like how discord was turned into a statue), or twilights magic alone wasn't enough to fuel equestria, so they all had to sacrifice themselves (which would fit, given the friendship theme). Plus it'd make sense since the sun and moon rise on their own now. Also, since I saw someone else mention it, I personally like the idea that sunny and her father are related to twilight or just one or more of the mane 6.

It definitely makes sense now. I can totally see Twilight sacrificing herself so the magic of friendship can live on. She probably knew that a new hero would answer the call of friendship, and bring everyone back together.

After watching your video a few weeks later I had a dream about Twilight...
I couldn’t remember villians of this dream, but they hurt Twilight somehow and she was falling down and smashed into plate-glass window and she... died.. just like that..
And her best friends were just watching how she was falling and then laying dead... 🤭😞

Does anyone remember how magic was draining from equestria very slowly into the human world? (I didn't finish the video in case he said it) But that's basically the theory I have: Magic leaked out into the human world and twilight needed to create artifacts to contain magic.

This theory would also explain why Sunny “became an alicorn” with magic wings and a horn. She was the pony to bring them together and they must’ve given her some of Twilight’s alicorn magic.

I disagree, as it states somewhere that Twilight died of old age.
My Theory:
As you say, Twilight created the crystals. But, it most likely did not lead to her fate.
I believe that after creating the crystals, which has the power of all three tribes, she went back to being either her old self (a unicorn) or a normal pony, seeing as she shed her power into making the crystals. Or, she could have remained in her alicorn form, still reigning as princess, but with no magic whatsoever. It's likely that this would have happened instead of her dying - seeing as, in "Twilight's Kingdom Part Two" the 3 other princesses (Celestia, Luna and Cadence) shed their magic to Twilight, and they did not immediately die off after throwing away their magic to Twilight. Yet, the oldest of the Alicorns (Celestia and Luna) would probably not last long, seeing as their age would probably kill them off the following week, where as Cadence would have survived longer as she is really only just older than Twilight maybe by like 7 years or so. So maybe, Twilight lived maybe 60 or more years after that as an almost normal pony. So, am I right, or am I wrong?

I think that she gave up her magic in the artifacts because she knew that she couldn't last forever just like Celestia and Luna, and so ponies could revert back to a non friendship having community. In knowing this she created the artifacts to make sure ponies continued being friends and if they stopped they would loose their magic. It was like a fail safe incase it got sooo bad that new enemies were created. If those enemies had strong magic while all the ponies of the world were not friends, then the enemies would win. Without magic any newly formed enemy would not be able to use magic if the rest of the ponies were not united.

This makes a lot of sense. Since Sunny Starscout believed that all 3 tribes of pony’s could become friends again, she became an alicorn and it could possibly be twilights magic inside Sunny’s veins.

I don't know if anyone has talked about it, I've certainly never heard anyone talk about it. But Sunny's father is the only one who remembers the story of the main six besides his daughter, and that's only because he taught her. And he looks exactly like Twilight, and wears her cutiemark as a pendent around his neck.
What if he's her descendant? Making Sunny also related by blood to Twilight which is why she's so special.

I think this is really interesting. The artifacts themselves obviously didn’t contain enough magic to work on their own, because even united they didn’t work until all the pony kinds got along again. They needed that spark, kind of like the elements of harmony needed the spark of the Mane 6 in order to work. The elements only ever worked when all 6 of them were together and represented their element, which is shown in part 2 of the return of harmony when they first attempted to defeat Discord without Rainbow Dash and after they’d all been turned into the opposite of their respective element. Of course there is still the question of the other alicorns and the sun and moon thing but that’s a whole other deal.

To be Honest this is Really a Great scenario you dipcted sawtooth ,I myself have been wondering were the Hell is Twilight and where did these Crystal's come from ??!! The way you dipcted it was Very amazing and what I belive the Creators of G5 want us to belive or belive something similar to it , So hats of to you :D . honestly, I get how twilight could’ve done all that in this video, but a question that still roams my head is about what happened to discord? Since we know that celestia and Luna have lived countless moons, and so has discord since they defeated them many many years ago . And if twilight outlived her friends, doesn’t that mean discord also had to outlive fluttershy? The only pony he truly cared about?god I cant bare how much it would’ve hurt discord honestly

Theory: Twilight is the princess of friendship. All of her friends can die. Perhaps once she can no longer do anything friendship related (as in has 0 friendships and has trouble making more friends), her magic is drained. Maybe her cutiemark being in the sky and turning into the artifacts are the last things that can remain of Twilight once she reaches that point.

This does make the most sense and would be the saddest route that could get people to really fall for g5.

i really like this theory! i’d like to raise the idea that because she turned her magic into crystals (pegasus, unicorn, AND earth) she didn’t even get to see what happened. she gave up her pegasus and unicorn magic, turning her into an earth pony. but when she gave that up too, she literally didn’t exist anymore. that would solve the back of grave, burial sight, etc :)

I wonder what happened to all of the other creatures like griffins, it would be cool to see how they have changed

A lot of people are questioning about the OTHER species in my little pony. In my opinion if magic stared to disappear, they might have tried travelling to other parts of equestria or even go to the human dimension, as most of them rely on magic. Because remember the human dimension is still apart of equestria and we don’t know if magic might have disappeared their.

A curious thing- Grogar (I think I spelled that right) What if he was the cause of Twilights Faith? Based on your "no one is truly gone" video? Dont know but that window of Opportunity could have been like you said, soon after Twilight became Ruler of equestria

i have a theory that Sunny's dad actually has the mane 6's journal that recorded all their adventures that why he knows about the past, cause i was re-watching S4 EP3 and EP4 and they mentioned that they were going to write a journal said Apple Jack and you can see in EP4 that Rainbow Dash is writing a journal about her adventure with Daring Doo and the book she is writing in has Twilight's cutie mark on the front.

i don't feel like she would live long after because it would be just like having your magic stolen where they become weak and unable to do much to the point of having a hard time even standing because she would lose more magic then what she was given to begin with

I’ve been thinking about this for a little bit but after seeing the final episode of FiM it made me sad to see the other members of mane 6 aging so here me out. What if there wasn’t a great event that was causing magic to disappear what if there was just a darker story to twilights end. I feel like twilight being so connected to her friends that perhaps since the rest of the mane 6 continue to age naturally and twilight doesn’t, what if twilight became so stricken with grief after the last of the mane 6 passed on that she too now without her friends didn’t have the strength to continue to reign without her friends. What if this deep sense of depression and grief is what caused her to make the artifacts. Knowing how much importance the magic of friendship was she wanted to ensure her messages would continue to reach future ponies so she decided to make the artifacts and separate her alicorn magic into the three pony species resulting in her ‘un-alicornification’. After giving away each artifact to its respective leaders to continue her practices, twilight ends her own life so she could be with her friends once again in maybe the pony afterlife. After the citizens of twilight had watched her mental decline due to the loss of her friends, maybe the friendship of the 3 tribes soon became viewed as a hardship that would result in your own doom, as seen with their beloved princess. The tribe leaders discussed the separation of the tribes to insure that their own people would not have to face the hardships that twilight had to endure. During the time the tribes separated the reasoning for the separation was never disclosed to the public and leader became to tell there citizens white lies about each tribe that turned into the prejudices of New Generation.
Probably a lot darker of a story than maybe hasbro intended but as someone who’s struggled with depression, this seems like a very valued scenario in my opinion

I found strange things at 2.20 minutes of My Little Pony: a new generation. The bell of Grogar, the portrait of twilight, the photograph of Starswirl... it seems a bit strange to me and I believe you can figure it out.

I'll do you one sadder... The moment she sacrificed each of her powers, she too gave up her entire magic being as a whole. Thus rendering her... Well... Gone.

I like this theory, and all, but at the same time, Twilight, was originally a unicorn, so while she would contain magic from all three tribes, she wouldn't be able to separate it all, just the unicorn, and Pegasus. The only way I can see this happening, is if Twilight was originally an earth pony.

It is really very surprising, and also worrying! But, I did not understand correctly, why the ponies can no longer use their magic? In any case, your explanation is brilliant!

I first imagined that Twilight couldn't handle having to outlive her friends due to her alicornhood and instead took each of their spirits and embedded them in the new Artifacts, with Pinkie and Applejack going into the Earth Pony artifact, Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy going into the Pegasus Artifact, and Rarity and Twilight going into the Unicorn one. However, to balance it all, Twilight gave up the magic from the other two tribes to the other two artifacts so she could use her own Unicorn magic for the Unicorn artifact.

But honestly? This makes more sense and is probably more likely. Hey, this is what theories are about, having an opinion that changes over time as more evidence and thoughts come to the table. Nice to see you're still living on despite the end of G4.

I just realised Twilight created 3 stones one with the Earth pony magic, one with the Pegasus magic and finally Unicorn magic wouldn't that take away her powers or end her well you know cause she gave up her magic not just the immortality to create the crystals

Hey Sawtooth I don't know if you've covered this lately or not in fact it's been a while since I've watched this one but what do you think the odds of argyle being related to Twilight Sparkle herself I mean yes he's an earth pony but if you look at his mane and tail you'll find that aside from a slightly different shade of blue it looks almost exactly the same tail and mane color as Twilight besides Pony genetics are kind of confusing in my opinion

I feel like Hasbro should make a gen 4-gen 5 crossover based on this theory. That would be so cool, with the gen 5 characters heading back in time to know why Twilight isn’t around today, with the crossover ending with a bootstrap paradox that results in gen 5 happening. Maybe the villain tries to siphon off all of Equestria’s magic in a last-ditch effort to destroy it all or something.

I very much I agree with this so since I also made some theries! Adding on to what I said I believe that due to the fact that alicorns are immortal what if the whole reason she did what she did was because her friends grew old and died off which left her heart broken. So with no one but herself left she didn't know what to do and she didn't want to be alone forever so she put the trust in her subjects to continue her legacy by giving up the throne and dieing peacefully either by old age or by the separation of the alicorns magic inside her. Pretty much in the end she has died of a broken heart die to the princess of friendship no longer had friends 💔

Hmm... I'M left wondering: IF this theory is true... Where's Twilight's body? Her grave? Burial site? Tomb? Is there even a Monument or Statue of her? And, being the intellectual she was... Wouldn't she have kept a journal? One LAST journal, maintained with regular entries (written by either herself or Spike) right up to the very end? So far...the stained glass mural is all there is.

twilight might have used her magic to create the artifacts, not only to store magic but for one last attempt at unity. it worked for a while, but in the end, it was only a bandaid and ultimately there could have been a division. and going off how the ponys act towards each other, a possible war between races. and after the war, the magic faded complately. and the ponys divided.

That's actually fitting for Twilight--but are you sure she didn't just die then and there?? Becoming the magical energy?? Because shes innately a unicorn and if she gave all of herself, then that would mean her earth pony magic too--magic she needs to function. I think she dissolved into pure energy and just died, but if she didnt, then I'm happy for her--her friends meant everything, and to live thousands of years beyond them would be.. terrible.

For the last video (now 4kids): I had a similar theory. We could say that G5 is a bit of an alternate timeline from the finale, where the lessons of friendship failed, the tribes and species did not come together, and did not save the Mane6. They died at the hands of the three villains. But even without that, somewhere along the line the tribes started their mistrust and segregation, the Windigos came, but each tribe started having fun in their own groups, remembering to sing, and love. With this, the Windigos got bored and went elsewhere. The mistrust continued, but it wasn't that active enough to bring the attention of the Windigos. As was said in Luna's Hearth's Warming Future, there was no fun, ponies were grumpy, and so the world was frozen. But even when segregated, if there are still holidays and ponies having fun.....

There is also that one comic: Twilight and her friends defeated the Windigos once and for all, and thus we are free to hate each other limitlessly. XD

Fun fact: Twilight was confirmed not to outlive her friends so this could fit.

This is my theory:

Long after the end of ss9 mlp FIM (prob even after the death of the main 5), something or someone caused all the creatures to be against each other, even the 3 tribes. Eventually all the creatures left equestria. The 3 tribes began some kind of war (so everything the foals learnt in history class are probably what happened but wasn’t the full story). The 3 tribes were using their magic against each other (earth ponies didn’t have magic so they were inventing things for defense?). The war was unstoppable and very dangerous so Twilight decided to take away their magic. She probably meant «If you ponies don’t stop fighting, then you also won’t have magic». In order to make magic disappear Twilight prob made some kind of self sacrifice. The tribes started to isolate themselves from each other, built their own ‘city’ and things led to another.

That’s also how the crystal empire fell apart. I think at the end of the new movie, the new villain is corrupted flurry heart (kinda like nightmare moon) since the colors are a bit similar and she’s also an alicorn. But the main reason why I think its flurry heart is bc she said smth like « finally they figured out how magic works, time to take back what was mine ». Since alicorns have a longer life span, flurry heart probably knew how magic disappeared and all that. When she said « time to take back what was mine », she meant the crystal empire. Cadence and the other princesses maybe got banned (temporarily just like how nightmare moon was in the moon for 1000 years) or made some kind of self sacrifice like how I think twilight did.

I honestly don’t think the other creatures are gone since we did see a baby dragon in the movie. The egg probably got to equestria by the waves since it was discovered in a beach.

Hey, I think it's something different, hear me out, I think twilight making the crystals made her no longer exist as her base form was a unicorn, and in the 3D Netflix series when we see "twilight" it's not her, it's the spirit of harmony back from harmony returning to equestria!

I have my theory. You know how twighlight knows everything about about friend ship? Well she made that sign because she wants every pony to live happily with their friends so she made that sign to make them work hard together with their friends. Yknow how hardwork makes the dream work!!

I actually thought about this. Twilight giving herself up, creating the crystal, Celestia and Luna giving themselves to the sun and moon permanent rising, Flurry and Cadence giving themselves up for the crystal heart
Its actually a pretty good theory that the princesses would give themselves up for the sake of the world or they're alicorn magic was stolen once again so twilight use's her last on the crystal. I mean in the movie, and mlp season finales made it clear there are artifacts out there that can steal magic in a snap

There’s so much yet so little we don’t know, I’m wondering if.. we’ll one single alicorns magic couldn’t have been enough for ALL the tribes to have magic.. what if Flurryheart and Cadence made the same sacrifice..? That’s so much magic and it would be enough to power ALL the pony tribes for generations, it would also explain where the crystal empire went and how well it probably still exists but is in ruins.. the crystal ponies weren’t pegasi or unicorns they were their own unique ponies, so it’d make sense maybe why we didn’t see any crystal ponies either or maybe.. they used the magic from the crystal heart to creat the crystals.. that would make much sense as to why we never see the crystal empire… it’s completely gone because the crystal heart is also gone

I came to a conclusion, Twilight did all that hard work in the previous series FOR NOTHING! They basically destroyed everything from the original series, just so new characters could learn what friendship is. Boooooom! Mystery solved.

What happened to her body though? Did she keep her horn and wings without the ability to use them? Did she just lose her wings, returning to her unicorn form but unable to use her horn? Earth ponies have neither horns nor wings, but I assume whatever magic they have was taken from her too. That being said, was she left with the appearance of an earth pony without the magic of any tribe?

Sawtooth waves, I actually have a different more likely theory as to why twilight sparkle has disappeared- it involves a bit of your theory but this one makes more sense, since it also involves the other princesses Cadence and Flurryheart. I would love to explain to you all sometime on discord or in comments somewhere, if you’d like to hear it- at least

I believe Sunny's dad is still out there. possibly exploring the world at large. I also think Twilight and Flurry Heart worked together to create the Alicorn Jewels in a desperate phase in time. Maybe to put Windegos to rest or perhaps to put down a big baddy like on Discord's level of magical prowess.

I feel like gen 5 had nothing to do with gen 4. But at the last moment because 4 gen was very popular they added some small details but didn’t emphasis the details.

The un-alicorning of twilight is actually so interesting because in the concept design for g5 twilight she was going to be an earth-pony!

I don’t think she gave up just her alicornhood, she gave herself. She is the embodiment of magic and was before becoming an alicorn and to give each type of pony a relic Twilight separated herself into the three artifacts. Using her wings for pegasi, her horn for unicorns, and her body for Earth ponies. Twilight didn’t outlive her friends because she simply no longer exists.

0:11 what if- more ponies were frozen in time- and were still stone durring that movie? Maybe even- a elder from the movie was frozen as a child and unfroze, learned the new way, and grew up with a new family

This fits into another theory floating around the internet. That Twilight not only created the artifacts to store the magic, but also to stop the war. The Princess of Harmony gave up their power, their title, in order to bring some form of peace and prevent a war. But the cost was more than just their powers. Pegasi were rendered flightless, and Unicorns were thrown into the Dark Ages. The only ponies to be unaffected were the Earth Ponies and they were close to extinction, having been pushed to Baltimare and it’s immediate suburbs as their only settlement.

Maybe something happened to the kingdom and she put all her power in the three crystals, and she is apart of each tribe so she separated her alicorn power into the crystals her power would be safe, she sacrificed her power for her kingdom-they would still have magic. At the end of the movie one of each kingdom put the three pieces together and they all got their power back.

I think Tirek finally succeeded in draining the world of magic. As a last stitch effort, Twilight and what could be the new mane 6 dispersed the magic they might've had into those crystals.

Twilight alone wouldn't have been able to make those crystals.. her legacy and the very reason she became an Alicorn was through the combined efforts of her friends. As such, it makes sense that it would be a combined effort to make these artifacts as a final clutch to preserve what magic that was left, so that Tirek couldn't find it. So the magic split three ways and scattered to three different parts of the world.

There, these pieces were safeguarded, perhaps buried for a time, until the time arises that magic would be needed once again.

Edit: Also.. special thought. What if the new MLP movie is an actual What If, movie? A distopian future associated with Twilight's failure to deal with Tirak, Cozyglow, and Crysallis? Like this was the end result of a last attempt of keeping Tirek from stealing magic? Idk.

Well, it's important to note that, Sunny said, "It's not the crystals that need to be brought together! It's us!" However, that said, it's also plausible that Twilight's alicorn magic was contained inside the crystals (just as you said) and that's precisely what transformed Sunny at the end of the movie. That theory makes the most sense to me. The crystals were drawn to Sunny as she had just inspired new magic, which is worthy of becoming an alicorn...

My Theory:
As time went on, something that keeps the Windingoes started to fail with it getting easier for a full breakout. So Twilight and the Mane 6 locked themselves up with the Heart to keep giving it strength and that why the ponies are able to be so hateful and mean spirited to each other.

The hateful enegry would be countered by the Mane 6 Friendship but the Mane 6 would need to stay near it, They created the relics in case and told their best students to keep the flame of Friendship. I think after the Mane 6 got sealed away things were going fine but as Time marched on, they moved to settle their own lands and thought the Relics were the only thing to care for. So when got more and more reclusive there wasnt enough ponies to fully unite them and they all just left.

Hmm I think your theory is so good, but I think that Twilight cutie mark can also mean a connection of crystals with the elements. Look at Twilight's cutie mark - one big star (magic element) and 5 small white stars (loyalty, honesty, generosity, laugh and kindness). And look at the crystals - they mean 3 tribes of ponies. I think that could mean that everypony can be loyal, kind, honest, generous... You know. And if magic disappeared, everypony have to find these elements inside - then magic will be back for all tribes. That's my opinion 😅❤️

Sawtooth Waves, I think I have a theory of why Sunny became an alicorn. What if like Starswirl Twilight put an extra special spell onto all of the gems. It would make sense. Sunny never created new magic and she was never sent to that alicorn making place. She was transformed right where she was. If Twilight knew something like this would happen then she'd probably know to put a spell that turns whoever fixed the relationships between the three tribes into an alicorn.
And I also have a theory of why cutiemarks are only on one side. Maybe it's because of the lack of magic. Cutiemarks are just as magical as the pony's magic. The magic can probably only put one cutiemark on each pony.
Also, where is Spike? Dragons live for hundreds of years. Will he return in the show like he always does or will he just not show up? Was he forgotten and overlooked because of Twilight?

In my head cannon, a fallen student (or possible child) of Twilight was the one who caused the catastrophe that lead to Equaestria's fall.

Around her cutie mark is 5 other stars, maybe it represents the main 6, it could've of been all of the main 6's magic in the artefact. They wouldn't let her do it by herself they always stayed together so maybe they sacrificed there magic together using the magic when they fought tirek when he stole all the magic in equestria, it's the only magic strong enough to give everyone magic. Twilight by herself wouldn't have enough magic. Maybe another villain succeed in draining the magic so they used the last resort of the elements to seal it in the artefacts sacrificing themselves for the future generation (sorry if this doesn't make sense)

Ngl this hits hard. As someone who grew up with her character ever since first grade, a character whom I was obsessed with later on for a very long time, which served as a source of inspiration and what got me into the fandom in the first place, it's painful. This show helped me so much, and Fluttershy especially, helped me relate to someone who had social anxiety. But it really hurts right now. Because before the show ended, many things in my life changed as well. My aunt, whom I used to spend most of my time with and watch MLP together, passed away...She was like a second parent to me. Soon after, we sold our apartment and had to move in a new town. Many things happened back then. And I stopped watching the show soon before it ended. I know how it did tho. And I hated the ideea that Twilight was forced to see each and every single one of her friends die, and also showing the mane 5 grow old. Especially since I struggled with the ideea of change considering how abrupt and negatively it came in my life. I tried to dittach myself from it and from the memories it brought. But what the show tought me remained. I even tried to create my ideal group of friends, because the show truly inspired me to believe in that ideea, and empathise with people a lot, give them a hand. We were like a family for a long time, and most of them were really devoted to me and one another, as we had eachother's backs in the toughest of times.I am gonna spare the details of what happened next, but let's just say it ended with a lot of betrayal, and out of 6 people I remained friends with only 3 and , close friends with one. And coming back now, seeing the tragic yet, relatively bittersweet ending she had, I am not sure how to feel. Especially since I never wanted G5 to be like this. I wanted that "mature audience" reinterpretation of the characters we already knew, like in the leaks. If not, a completely separated universe. I wanted my memories of G4 to stay the way they were. I understand why many people would enjoy G5, and I have nothing against them. And even if it ruined G4 for me in a way, I don't hate it, and appreciate one thing: Twilight is back with her friends in the end.

There is one thing that confuses me. What happend to the other races; like the dragons, changelings, diamond dogs, and others. In the movie it shows that the earth ponies are only preparing to defend themselves from unicorns and pegasi even having a major company find ways to defeat them. Also without their magic many races would take advantage of that, diamond dogs could kidnap anypony to work their mines, dragons would try and take over Zephyr Heights since they appear wealthy with lots of gold. Now we know Twilight made peace with many different races and that keep the peace for a while, but after so many years there are going to be some bad apples, most likely appearing from the dragons first, after all almost no one wants to mess with them and even if one dragon has greed indused biggness (I think that is what Smolder said) that would cause a major incedent. I maybe missed it, but it seems that the other races where just forgotten, maybe whatever happend in the past also affected the other races much worse then the ponies.

Am I the only one that like that version of the creation of the crystals more than the one in MLP: Make your mark? Like, I cant watch that one enough, it's my favorite

After the mane 5 passed, Twilight had to make magical artifacts that would replace them as harmony beaeres, after all equestria needs protection beyond 1 life time

She probably remembers how helpful the elements of harmony were in the path to discovering the importance of the MOF

It could be that she didn’t just sacrifice her magic. I think it’s possible she sacrificed her life essence to make the crystals and eventually save magic for everyone. This would that her physical body would’ve disappeared when the crystals were created. Hence why, her selfless act became legend.

I think that twilight wanted others to learn that just because its supposed to be a magical stone the thing that matters is friendship if you think about it ponies have probably done this for generations back from the begining of the power of friendship, so its a lesson to others being passed down

What if she could have solved this crisis in a different way, but chose this, because she lived for so long that she felt tired, so it was also a way for her to go out in good light.

Alternatively, Twilight perished right after she lost her alicorn magic instead of getting to live a little longer. Let's say she was a thousand or so years old. Her alicorn magic kept her alive and well despite her age. A mortal pony does not have the capacity to live that long. So when Twilight turned back into a regular pony, her thousand years of age would be able to overwhelm her and kill her right then and there.

What caused the crisis, what made her decide to do this, where is cadance, what happened to luna and celestia since their retired, not dead, and where is flurry? Flurry specifically as twilight even stated in the beginning of the end and I know this would of never changed. Flurry was always to be their final hope in the event of a crisis.

Princess twilight, along the lines, could have had a child. And her child could have passed twilights vision of unity onto their child, and their child could have passed it on to their child, and so on. And so, Sunny and her dad could very well have been a part of that family line😳. Just a thought😅

My theory: Twilight DID let friendship fall.

After twilight's ruled for a while, something bad happened, what is the worst thing to friendship? Mind wipe, mind control, or something of that scale. Twilight tried to use magic to save friendship, but it backfired. This is where the story of mind melting and reading mind came. Starlight Glimmer looked into different futures, millions or billions perhaps. (How could she do this? She literally had a magic which helped her organize an entire library in mere seconds, travelled and modified timeline before, and more, and that was far back then, who knows what she could've done?). In the end, she found out that friendship cannot be forced on people, only grown and incubated. She knows that the immense magic she has is nothing compared to friendship, but it can't be forced on with magic either. She planted the seeds of friendship to those who would pass it down to Sunny, Izzy, etc...

In the end, even though twilight is supposed to be against storing magic in artifacts, she did it anyway because "That was the only way".
Then, she lets friendship get forgotten as the northern equestria got devoured in some crisis.

Thanks to this thing, once people of the three races met again, the ridiculous things they assumed of others are debunked, and they realized that the fear of those ridiculous stories are making them ridiculous themselves, they started becoming friends again.

I feel like twilight would stay an alicorn making the crystals. We’ve seen how an alicorn looks without magic and they’re just a little grayish and limp. Idk if she’d survive that lifestyle 😩

She may have still been an alicorn but did the same thing that Celestia and Luna did when they went on a vacation just in solid objects and assisting FlurryHeart with her duties

It does make sense that this is what happened. Remember, Friendship Is Magic. That's why her Cutie Mark and the Element of Friendship are the same. That's why only Twilight would have the power, both of friendship and enough raw magical power, to create such powerful artifacts. So the Magic of the Tribal Crystals needed Friendship from all three tribes to reunite.

I think the mane six did the same thing that the pillars by creating some powerful crystals so Equestria could be safe after they’re long gone

There's still questions like what was the crisis and without magic does that mean the three villains are free?

Twilight knew what needed to be done, but she couldn’t do it alone. So she asked for the help of all the Alicorns in Equestria to help her. Using Twilight as a conduit, they all cast a spell on her, giving up their Alicorn magic in the process. Then, Twlight ascended into the sky, and in one great burst of light, cast the final alicorn spell. Her cutie mark spread across the night sky, and everyone far and wide looked up and saw it. From that light, three beams of light shot downward, each landing on a chosen crystal. One for those who flew swiftly among the clouds, controlling the weather, one for those who worked the earth and grew the food, and one for those who glimmered with magic from their hearts and horns. Three crystals embodying all three of ponykind. A final beam emerged and landed on the ground where a ball of light grew, at first too bright to see. But soon it faded and all present could see. Princess Twilight was no more. In fact, none who once called themselves Equestrian royalty were truly princesses anymore. Instead, in the fading light, there stood six ponies, none with wings nor horns, nor even with the magic to work the earth. Twilight’s final spell worked. To be honest, I don't know why but Sunny's dad believed in Twilight and is a blue-ish purple, so I think he might be a descendant of Twilight Sparkle. I don't know if this is true I was just thinking about that before I watched the video

I think I know what happened, groger or someone bad came back to get revenge and relised everyone from thutus. Twilight sperated her magic into gems for the tribes to use with there power, telling to give the gems to starlight to use to become a allicorn after the battle. They won, with no Twilight. Everyone relised that who ever put the gems together again would be allicorn. (This is why sunny from gen 6 movie became an allicorn but not permanently. ) They fought over it, never giveing the gems to starlight, who then grew old and died. They tribes sperated and fought. Twilight's magic sensed this and took all magic away to try to power the gems to bring back Twilight and failed. There was no friendship or harmony to left.

As a princess, Twilight would have lived forever. But by the death of her friends, there must have been some crisis and Twilight was alone. She might have had to sacrifice herself to finish it all off

This also explains why there are no other magical creatures around too. Think about it, there are no signs of other creatures around through the show, not even in the murals of the past when ponies got along, but all of those are from after the crisis so the idea that they may have died out due to lack of magic.
A good example of this is in Cozy Glows episode when she attempts to take all the magic, the mane six are stuck in Tarturus and take the magic from the beasts trapped there to get out, which turned them into normal animals, so it's not unreasonable to think the same thing would have happened to them again.
Also, when Twilight made the crystals, she would have only been able to give magic from the pony tribes to do it, so the other races wouldn't have benefited from it and instead would have either died out or left to find their own source, hence why there's no trace of them.

I really hope this theory isn’t true because it’s just so sad but if it was I’d have a question how did the pony’s lose their magic? I think most people would think it’s because of some powerful enemy but I think it’s probably because of the pony’s not getting cutie marks. Ok listen I think after the 5 and spike died twilight fell into a depression I mean she was alone and didn’t have anyone and plus her family probably died earlier than them so she must have already been in a depression this influenced her leading skills and made the pony’s lose their sense of friendship. Because of this more and more pony’s didn’t get cutie marks and the ones that did could barely even use them and that’s how I think magic eventually died out in the end I think twilight either sacrificed herself only or she and the other alicorns sacrificed themselves to make all of the artifacts which lead to their deaths or like you said they lost their alicorns powers and lived the rest of their lives which I don’t really believe because now that all of them have lived so long they’d probably die the moment their not alicorns so In conclusion I think magic started to die out because the pony’s didn’t have a strong resolve anymore and so to continue the lineage of pony’s and all creatures the alicorns made a sacrifice, hence ending the g4 era.

There's also the factor she might have wanted to give up her magic because she didn't want to lose her friends by enduring. She could have created the crystals as a test, a test to keep the three united and choose a new Alicorn from among them, one who could keep them together. All the while Twilight lived out her own twilight years with her friends and passed away peacefully. Perhaps the test was not completed fast enough and without Twilight's influence the three eventually divided and their magic faded as a resault.

I think you're right about the crystals being connected to twilight or allocorn magic in general, but it still doesn't explan why there are no more alacorns. I mean flurry heart was the youngest allocorn shouldn't she still be around

Honestly everyone always thinks what if all the mane 6 became alicorns that way they could all live forever with each other but I rarely see people think the opposite which is what was said in this video as in twilight gives up on being an alicorn and this does ALL make sense though

Actually, having thought about it since yesterday, I don't think Twilight lived out the rest of her life as a mortal pony.

Remember, she needed to store all 3 tribe's magic into a Crystal.

That means her Pegasus, Earth Pony AND Unicorn magic... and she was a unicorn when she was mortal.

She couldn't just give away all 3 traits of ponies to the Crystals and keep being one of said traits.

Twilight would've needed to give uo her very being to create those Crystals, leaving no vessel to keep her soul in the mortal realm.

Twilight truly did not outlive her friends, being the first to pass on, so they could continue to live in a world full of magic

I just realized something when watching one of your recent Sombra videos, if the Alicorn Amulet was supposedly Sombra's, does that mean the Crystals in the G5 movie was Twilight's Alicorn Amulet?

The shape almost matches if you compare the two.
Wings on the side near the top, the unicorn horn/head in the middle, a diamond in the center.

You said Sombra's Alicorn magic was sucked out of him and put in the amulet.

It makes sense for Twilight to put her magic, her alicorn-hood into these 3 crystals and spread them apart.

My theory is Twilight could've made the Crystal out desperation, because I think after years of peace some ponys started fighting the different races started fighting each other,then a war broke out and Twilight had no choice but the seal everyone's Magic into the crystal to prevent them from killing each othe. I think after The Pony War!!!, ponies and Magical creates Deside to live separately so as not start another War.

I feel that, as she was loosing her friends, Twilight was slowly becoming Equestria's Midnight Sparkle. So, possibly with help from Discord and/or Flurry, Twilight created the artifacts we see in A New Generation.

I think twilight continued to rule equestria and just separated a tiny part of her alicorn magic and formed the crystals and she still an alicorn as sunny is an temporary alicorn

I was thinking about commenting this the day you posted but I forgot so here it is….

In Twilight’s kingdom part 2, All the alicorn princesses transferred their magic to Twilight yet all of them stayed an alicorn. The only thing they lost is their cutie mark. So I don’t think it is possible for Twilight to un-became an alicorn.

A movie explaining this crisis would be the coolest thing ever.

Honestly, I think twilight made the stones/crystals cause if other ponies found it, they would learn that they were wasting time collecting the crystals, and realizes they don’t need the stones.

I think the only opponent who could do this is someone of Discords or Grogars caliber when I comes to magic since both are considered some of the most powerful beings in equestria besides the alicorns.

Maybe using the “power of friendship” to release grogar’s magic in chrysalis, tirek and cozy ended up bringing back grogar and he stole the magic from all the Changlings, dragons, yaks, ponies, etc…

In the final moments in a fierce battle with him Twilight split her magic up into three crystals since his bell can only steal the magic from living beings and not artifacts. In doing so she simultaneously bemoaned grogar, herself and her friends to a different plane of existence or possibly even killed them.

Interesting theory, but if true, i think for Twilight it would be much worse then just losing her alicorn magic to create the crystals. In order to make them she would have to put all of her magic into them, even more so then when Tirek drained their magic. I think she became the crystals themselves.

I agree with this, but you missed the fact that Sunny was originally just a earth pony but got wings and a horn after connecting them together. Twilight's spirit may have caused this

alternative theory: the amulet was formed out of the magic of the elements of harmony 2 in a 2 EoH = 1 crystal equation, Rainbow and Fluttershy's elements form the pegasus crystal, AJ and Pinkie for the earth pony crystal and Twilight and Rarity's for the unicorn crystal

But even if twilight lived,it would be sad to see twilight losing her friends one by one until its only her left.

What if the artifacts that twilight created caused this whole genration. Like the elments of harmony so here is how the theory goes
The war has taken place and the artifacts are in the castle. A pony OR twilight knows that this can lead to a very terrible situation so she uses the artifacts and unknowingly she got control over all the magic in equstria and made this whole new generation but this dont explain the stain glass so i think the first theory is more explainable

If the crystals were Twilight's Alicorn Magic infused, while giving up her Alicornhood, then when Sunny uses them, it makes sense why she became a Alicorn herself then🤔 But just my opinion. I really hope Hasbro addresses it in the series😁

I have a theory I’m pretty sure not every pony hates each other and some pony’s remember the past other wise she wouldnt have so much mearcn from the main five(unless her dad made them) and it also explains why the windagos haven’t returned but where did he get the books and all the models of the past artifacts unless some pony’s other then him know the past and know the magic of friendship and maybe there’s whole other parts of equestria where ponies of all tribes live together and possibly every creature? Maybe outside of those three city’s live city’s where creatures of all live together explaining why there’s not enough hate for the windagos to return or something is holding them back?

I have my own theory about what happened to Equestria and I feel like you can’t even make this into a video. Basically twilight and her friends rolled over Equestria together but being an à la corn twilight had a much longer life than her friends. They Did everything together but when her friends time came to an end, She probably started to feel empty inside and if the princess of friendship loses sight of that the rest of a Equestria would probably soon follow. I’m willing to bet Sunny star scout was a descendant of one of twilight’s friends most likely pinkie pie (Being the only one we know had children) and her father knew this Which could be why he made it his goal to keep the stories alive

you know for a minute there i thought this: she gave away her pegasi (wings) magic and turned it into a crystal, then she gave away her unicorn magic (horn) and finally when she was now just an earth pony, gave away her earth pony magic (whatever that is) and faded from existence since she has no magic left

What if twilight made the gem because some villain came for magic and the other mane six died....and she sacrificed herself because the villain was to powerful...or maybe the villain can also come from the human world!The villain got cadance and flurry heart and twilight was the only hope...that would be insane

My theory is that a big war happened between gen 4 and gen 5. The war took place because of the same creatures that caused the separation of Earth ponies, Pegasi, and Unicorns. This separation caused no new friendships to be made and so Equestria fell. It wasn’t twilight who caused the fall of Equestria, the 3 sirens did. With no other choice, Twilight had to create the crystals that would eventually unite Earth, Pegasi, and Unicorns. In doing so, she sacrificed her powers until what remained was a husk of her original self. And that is a theory. A game theory.

If you look at the various mural pieces, note that the unicorn and pegasus panes are connected directly by lines, but the lines don't line up on the earth pony panel despite those lines being there.

In other words, there's a fourth pane of glass between Twilight's symbol and the Earth Pony panel that we haven't seen yet.

What was the new generation and its story takes place in a place very far from Equestria, as we saw in the film only villages and small cities for each type of pony, and this is impossible because we saw the pony in thousands and we saw in the film a symbol of Twilight, but the place where it was apparently a transport station or Post, and this indicates that the place is far from the Kingdom.

there is one more detail though in the G5 movie the action figures of the main six that sunny would play with when she was younger, twilight had wings...

Another idea:

The mane six all gave in their magic to stop whatever was happening. All of their essence in the crystals would make the crystals much more powerful, even if they are with just Twilight, they'd be even stronger with her friends. They all came together and gave their magic, then Twilight would go back to mortal and passes with her friends. This is just a personal idea from the beams kind of matching their coats along with the stars from her mark.

Does that mean it can also take the form of future twilight and live forever since it'll just keep being a new generation of the spirit kinda-
And can the tree find a new founder [Maybe the students 6] and take the form of them or have their spirits become one or take place?

But then the spirit is like in the tree? Or related some how with the tree. But then The spirit killed the Tree of harmony it self- Does that mean it's like it's self? It's own spirit? So I have cake up with a pretty wild theory but kinda makes since so maybe when a alicorn/queen dies they turn into crystals like instead of twilight making the crystals she died and became the crystals and each queen has there own unique crystal but they can also change there crystal before they die so what if each element of harmony was the crystal of a dead queen but twilight altered hers to be different so that when she died if something happened and the pony’s started to separate and hate eachother the crystal would separate too and the magic would disappear until a pony united everyone and the crystal pieces in which the crystal would be whole again and give the pony who united them wings and a horn or a horn if they have wings etc. but twilights crystal would stay forever doing the same thing if the separated again if you have something else you want to add comment!

My theory is similar to yours Sawtooth, except i believe that Twilight must've known that once she was gone there would be nopony left to keep the magic of friendship alive, so she probably created the crystals and stored whatever was left of the magic of friendship inside the crystals in hopes that one day somepony would believe in the magic again and would be able to restore it to Equestria once again...but anyway that's my theory.

Shocking conclusion, its an alternate equstria! Because the only explanation for this future of our beloved equestria is essentially that all the alicorns were imprisoned or killed in some way. Considering the entire world (literally) revolves around magic (moving the sun and moon anyone?) and that alicorns are (debatably) godlike beings of magic, this would mean that something akin to an apocalypse happened in equestria. This is hard to believe unless your talking something like Tirek getting out, or cozy glow sucking all the magic out of the world, but if thats true then why are they not controlling the world? Its very iffy on what actually happened (if it really isnt some sort of alternate reality.) I dont agree with the idea of her just "unbecoming an alicorn" because ya...thats death. So either something else happened, or twilight died moving her magic to the crystals OR she technically IS the crystals. Of course that doesnt explain where luna, celestia, cadence or flurry heart went.

If Twilight put all her magic into the crystals and turned back into a unicorn, then shouldn't Celestia and Luna get word about twilight and then continue ruling or would twilight make sure that her best student became the next ruler either way what happened to Celestia, and Luna are they still Alicorns as we saw but what happened to them? where are they now? Are they still immortal? If so, shouldn't they both make sure that unicorns, Pegasus and Ponys stick to gather? or after they retired did, they lose all immortality?

This makes me wonder, though... what happened to Luster Dawn? Wasn't she supposed to be her successor, in the same way Twilight was to Celestia?

Hear me out, just like how Luna was banned to the moon with Ali corn magic what if this new evil queen did what sombra and cozy did to make herself an alicorn. For some reason twilight didn’t want this knowledge spread onto unicorns and inevitably had to split up the magic so it was unattainable. And the evil queen banished her to the stars. Along with the mane 6!!!! And the crystals were the last kinda hope equestrians would regain friendship and aim her escape later on!!! Count the stars around the cutie mark in the stain. That is a possibility, but if I would have to take an actual guess of how it actually happened, the real Grogar actually came and used another memory stone to erase everypony’s memories about friendship and unity, with the exception of the Mane Six, Spike, the Student Six, Starlight, Discord, Sunburst, Trixie, Celestia, and Luna, so to make sure they don’t go at war with each other, they decided to create three crystals for each of the tribes to get rid of magic, so the ponies don’t use it if they go to war, but Twilight and everyone else knew that there will be a day in the future when Earth ponies, unicorns, and pegasi will bring the crystals will ignite and restore magic, but only if all three tribes come together again, and whoever brings them together will have the power of an alicorn. But just right before they can get rid of it, Grogar came in and a brutal battle started, after fighting for a whole, Twilight and the rest of the Mane Six used their rainbow magic one last time to make it work, and it did. However, after that happened… Grogar stabbed Twilight, and she died. Thankfully, the magic was gone, so much that Grogar disappeared. They both won the battle, but lost magic and Equestria’s ruler and friend.

I think Alicorns have a limited life span, but it was never discovered-
I mean, what if twilight made the crystals from something each of her friends loved when they passed away? Soon 100,000,000 years later Twilight dies, I mean tbh that seems very long! ( and believable to be immortal to other ponies )

I just wish they did G5 in new universe, completely unrelated to the G4... It's heartbreaking to see Equestria like this, I can't get over it. Why are they destroying the beautiful worlds they created? The same thing happened with Star Wars.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not against the G5. I understand that it is something new, that it isn't supposed to be the same as G4 and I even most of things in it(eg. absolutely cute and realistic designs), but making this world, which is so divided a "future Equestria" hurts me so much. Only a really good, making a big sense explanation from the producers could save it for me... Explanation from the video is a good start to it and I hope producers will do something like that, or even better... Unless, I'm just gonna stick to G4 and pretend new generation doesn't exist.

This idea makes sense actually. We've seen that the creation of alicorns is linked to major changes in equestria. Starswirl (likely) created Xelestia and Luna who dealt with discord and restored order, they made cadence to bring love and save the Crystal empire, mind you the heart being a relic to ensure love and acceptance, and then them making twilight. Perhaps twilight saw that Relics like the crystal heart endure time, as do the elements of Harmony (surviving 1000 years) and thought that the greatest sacrifice as a princess of magic and friendship would be to give up the former, to spend her life with the latter and ensure that both continue in the kingdom she was left

Yknow what i know? Twilight is actually in hiding in some cave with her friends in some kind of cryo sleep state and someone still hasn’t found them and nobody can tell me that shes dead otherwise

Twilight didn't outlive her friends. One thing to connect to your theory. Have you noticed that G5 ponies only have cutie marks on their right flank when back in G4 it was both? That maybe a sign of what that crisis was, why thay need artifact to have magic now, Equestria's magic was literally cut in half.

After Celesta and Luna retired they were tired of raising the sun and moon so they gave up there magic to make them rise naturally. Cadence and Flurry didn't want to live out Shining Armor so they gave there magic to the Crystal heart. I Twilight sparkle sacrificed myself 3,000 years later when Equestria became a democracy and I had to give up my magic in order to become prisedint. I wanted Equestria to have some magic left so i made the crystals!

Ok Ik I'm late in commenting but I needed time to get more info and I got from the new trailer at the end we saw twilight in some sort of hologram I am thinking that since the other ponies past away she didn't have anyone to help with the friendship part of magic so she made the cristals not only knowing that the tribes would fight but also knowing that eventually one of person will join it all back and bring the magic of friendship back and I think sunny is in her family I think they are somewhat related bc she is basically the only one we have seen getting to know abt the main six I'm guessing that twilight made sure the info was passed she planned all this and now she is back as a hologram or whatever we still don't know to help the new friends in bringing it back fully idk this is just me what do u think?

What if she got turned to stone like with discord after friendship broke when they split the crystal and hated eachother and the loss of friendship took away all magic and she was forgotten in the canterlot castle…??? The comics comming soon proves someone or something is alive and probably from gen 4 it might be discord based on the cover for comic number 2 but my thought would be twilight cause it would make everything much more interesting

I love this theory, honestly. It just depicts ultimate form of self-sacrifice, Twilight sacrificing what she had accomplished (and becoming an Alicorn) to sharing it with everyone. Putting everyone else above herself, as her duty, is the perfect character arc. It's just the most poetic end for the bearer of the element of Magic.

It could be possible the the last mane 6(not the new ones) Come back but bigger big enough to protect Equestria

This is an old vid but I think that instead of sacrificing her alicornhood she sacrificed her life. Bc she can’t be a pony without being one of the three ponies, and there’s a crystal for every single tribe.

You started to lose me a little with the "sacrificing her alicornhood" part, but making a failsafe to preserve magic in the event of a crisis absolutely makes sense and is definitely something Twilight would do, given the crises she's seen (several of which directly had to do with the loss of magic).

Btw as you see luster dawn is a unicorn and twillight used to be a unicorn so luster dawn is gonna be a princess so she's gonna be what twilligyt was in through so as you see in luster dawns name it has the word dawn so she might be the replacement of celestia

i wonder where everyone else. we also never saw any non creatures. i rlly hope they will make more series on what happened between the movie and the series. and of course a 2nd movie of the next gen

I have a question in the magic of friendship the pegasi can even though their is no magic but in the new generation they can’t but why ?

Let's not dive on depressing theories before the show give more explanations.Twillight could be dead without magic, stuck somewhere or trapped by a evil entity.

I really like this theory because it also calls back to something else that happened in the season 8 finale. When the main six and spike were trapped in Tartarus they needed to get magic from somewhere so they could open the door. The other imprisoned creatures around them didn't have their own magical abilities anymore but there was still the magic that made up what they are. and when they willingly gave up that magic, they were all separated into the various beings that they were amalgamations of. We are deliberately not shown what happened to Tirek though arguably the most sentient creature of the bunch. We do see the chimera which is the only other creature of all of them that has ever been seen to talk and have a personality, and it was separated just like the rest of them, so we can assume that something similar happened to Tirek. The mural we find depicting the creation of the crystals also shows us three ponies, one from each tribe, and Twilight is nowhere to be seen. Her cutie mark is up there, but she's not. So naturally my first thought was that she literally separated into three beings that are fragmented and aren't really their own ponies fully. Because they used to be one individual and now there's three of them and that can't be good for your psyche. But I think that's even way darker and therefore less probable to have happened, so let's look at it from another angle. Who do those three ponies remind you of? A unicorn with a curly mane and tail and pink color scheme, a pegasus with a purple mane and orange wings, and a red and orange earth pony. Granted they don't look one to one like them but they evoke the imagery of a trio that we know very well from Gen 4. The CMC. I don't think it's them because if it was they would have made it a much more direct easter egg, because they know we would have lost our minds at that, but I think it's very possible, especially if this takes place after all the friends twilight knew are long gone, Which would then make even more sense as to why she's resorting to such desperate measures, that these are descendants of the CMC. And I do think the CMC had descendants while most of the mane six didn't, after all we see in the epilogue that Pinkie in the only one of them with a kid. Personally I'd like it better if a next generation of the CMC in the far future was involved in the creation of the crystals. I personally think the CMC have always represented the unity between the tribes more than the mane six did. So that brings us back to what happened to Twilight. Because while I do think it's possible that she lived out the rest of her days as a mortal pony, I can also imagine something a lot sadder. I think giving up all that magic, not just what magic she could do but the magic that made up what she is, could have, for lack of a better term, unmade her. After that spark in the sky disappeared she was just. Gone. Which honestly is way less dark and problematic than the first idea I had. Kind of wild that my original idea is more angsty than death by sparkle explosion. But yeah anyway, those are the thoughts I had following this video.

We don’t SEE the other parts of the world, we see a small part- three whole places- and that’s it. And who knows how far in the future this is, meaning all the other parts of the world probably lost their connections to the ponies as well. Meaning it isn’t as if all the other races disappeared, they’re simple confined outside of Equestria. It’s not like they ever crossed that boarder a lot in the past either. So there are whole possibly completely different cultures for all the creatures we once knew. Which would be amazing to see. Also other pony civilizations, there’s no way that single shore town and that rundown unicorn village in the woods and a giant city are the ONLY pony civilizations. That is practically impossible, and if it is so, that’s very disappointing and unrealistic.

i feel like she would have just died after like taking away the imortal part would leave her looking like an old woman and she would die after because its been sooooooo long since she was young

twilight must have made a morally grey choice and likely realized that things would sort themselves out even at the cost of losing Equestria "hope is never too far gone in the eyes of the beholder"

So basically, Twilight Used about almost all of here magic to save all of equestrian from loosing magic, Tho she probably knew that the next time the artifacts were brought back together, There would be a new alicorn, and tho twilight probably didn’t drain ALL of her alicorn magic, but also probably gifted Sunny the horn and the wings of the alicorn, So twilight MAY have been taking celestias place, and all of that :snap: that’s my theory.

If this was correct then I think twilight created the crystals because she knew if friendship would fall then she made then one pony who believed in friendship still would try to get the tribes together then that pony would realize it’s not the crystals it’s the tribes to bring back power

Based off what we've seen in the past generation it wouldn't be uncommon for this to happen remember the pillars they sacrificed themselves to lock away a great darkness something similar could have happened so called the crisis. I believe what they says is true but my interest now is the crisis what could have caused her to devote herself to release her magic into artifacts. Could been the ripple between the tribes or something darker.

I think twilight made the crystals to bring the peagasai and unicorns and land ponies apart and hope to make a new ruler that understood friendship is power and so when sunny understood how to get them together she became the new ruler

I have heard because Queen Chrysalis was spreading rumors about the other pony's that they all split up and twilight was in hiding because she failed and is punishing herself for it

Or twilight made them because she wanted the pony to have magic only if they were happy and living together.
But at the sacrifice she didn't make it because there was an explosion the other time she survived because of her magic

Now you need to ask what happened to Flurry and Cadence?

I actually came to a similar conclusion after I watched the movie! Though my theory focused on what caused Twilight to give up her alicorn magic.

I theorized that at some point after the season finale, maybe centuries after the rest of the mane six died of old age, the spell keeping Cozy Glow, Tirek, and Chrysalis trapped in stone would wear off. This time, they decided to drain the magic from Equestria the way Cozy had to weaken every pony and creature. With armies from the various creatures Twilight had allied, she and the other alicorns were able to stop the trio again, but before they released the magic back into Equestria, Twilight decided to contain it all.

She knew Tirek could come back and do this all over again, so she contained the magic of Equestria in these three gems-powered by friendship- so that even if Tirek came back, he wouldn't be able to drain magic from ponies. Technically, the magic didn't come from them anymore, it came from the gems. In order to pull this off, she and all the other alicorns would have had to sacrifice their magic.

In my theory, Equestria would continue to be ruled by Twilight's chosen successor, and theirs after that, and so on and so forth. Without alicorns to keep ponies united, they slowly began to drift apart over the years to follow. Eventually conflict would rise, resulting in the gems no longer providing magic to the ponies of Equestria. This loss sent pony kind spiralling into war, the return of the Windigos, and eventually an assault on Canterlot where the gems were being held as each pony tribe tried to steal them to bring magic back for themselves.

Each tribe ended up with their piece of the gems, and pegasi took over Canterlot, forcing out the other tribes who left to live amongst their own kind. The Windigos disappeared with the lack of conflict, and the rest is history as the movie tells us.
