Coincidence or Destiny?

Okay, so there's been something on my mind for a while now. Are there really only the 6 elements of harmony? I mean sure, there were 6 original elements, but it doesn't only take Kindness, Generosity, Loyalty, Honesty, Laughter, and Magic to create harmony. In fact, having only those 6 elements wouldn't create harmony at all. To have a perfect balance, you need good and bad elements. I could be overthinking things, or there's something someone isn't telling me.

I think destiny, as a concept, is actually a pretty funny thing in cartoons and movies. A lot of the time, they implement the old "Oh, it was destiny" line to avoid giving context or purpose to an event. I think it's done good in MLP, because your theory seems pretty sound, but I can't help but notice that destiny is often used in a lot of lazy writing.

But what about when spike couldn't use the element of loyalty?

Ok,ok,ok... The creators DEFINITELY watch this because the season finale of season 5 is ALL about messing up the rain boom and what happens if their not together.

For all we know, there were hundreds of ponies who got their cutie marks from the rainboom.

I think some of the main 6 are older than some others. Like applejack said she was the last in her class to get her cutie mark when rainbow dash was the first but they all got it at the same time, right? Also rainbow dash is around 22 years old (birthday candle count in pinkie pride) also does the portal to the human world effect age then? Saying that they're in theire 20's in pony vile but in equestria girls they're teenagers in high school. The description of the equestria girls movie is "twilight goes through a portal that makes her a teenage human, with a time limit, she must win the crown before the portal closes" LOL I just demonstrated the video above: this comment was all over the place. XD

Is it destiny that the Brony Notion has some really interesting theorys?

Honestly, I think Celestia planned the friendship between Twilight and the other Maine Six.
But she planned for it to happen a year or more afterwards! Just hear me out.

Friendship usually takes time to develop, so Twilight instantly making friends with 5 others over the course of a day or two and using that friendship as a catalyst to transform Night-Mare Moon back into Lunar would be quite a stretch to assume to be possible. A full year spent however could foster a very strong friendship with certainty if the people who are supposed to be friends are destined to be so. And Celestia knew about them all getting their marks at the same time as well as the fact that the other 5 align with the Elements of Harmony.

Plus, I find it quite fun to imagine Celestia loosing her cool when she noticed that she miscounted the years shortly before the Event.
Too fun to pass up this theory.

I were sure since start: Celly planned everything. It's a total setup. She had the time to plan and research while waiting for Luna's return.

The main 6 are essential to Equestria.

Actually, I feel like I can see the meddling hoof of a certain Time-Traveling Pony in this. Star Swirl was responsible for a lot of events in Twilight's life, and he was a time traveler. I suspect he might have known who was needed, and made suggestions to Celestia and acted on his own to put them into the proper places at the right times. Consider this: Why was Rainbow unable to repeat her Sonic Rainboom for such a long time? Perhaps because there was a Unicorn that helped her push her speed that far to ensure that each of the Mane Six had their Cutie Marks?

I am almost certain that Faust, in an interview, said that Celestia implemented a thousand year plan to remove the Nightmare infection from Luna. Starting with the founding of "Celestia's school for gifted unicorns" and building up its reputation, curriculum, and likely spells over ~900 years with Celestia taking personal students along the way to try to practice on her most important one when the timing was right to coincide with NMM's return. So Celestia groomed Twilight, as best as she could, to make Twilight the bearer of the Element of Magic(EoM). For the rest of them, Celestia had to roll the dice and hope that Twilight could naturally form friendships with 5 ponies.

This would be supported by Celestia granting land to the Apples near her old castle, where the Elements are, so they could hopefully form a community there (heck, Celestia could have massaged Ponyville's early growth from afar economically some how). Having an old city there would have made making friends on a potential EoM due to people/ponies ignoring each other in big cities, but a smaller town where everyone knows each other would have made it easier on an EoM since one friend can lead to others easier.

Sunset Shimmer, as we all know, was a failure for Celestia since Sunset was power hungry and violently antisocial (while Twilight was just passively antisocial). If the comics are to be taken as canon, we see Celestia get pissed at Sunset and try to course correct Sunset towards being more sociable but, Sunset left through the mirror. Celestia was likely more careful when handling Twilight as a result.

Also, we see with the Sombra and Discord defeat flashbacks, BOTH of the sisters wielded the Elements (Celestia: Magic, Generosity, and Loyalty? Luna: Laughter, Kindness, and Honesty?) When they globe trotted stomping on big baddies. Starting with Discord. Maybe Celestia knew that she could only use the elements alone once, and that NMM's first plan of action on returning, would be to strike Celestia.
Thus, the thousand year plan.

I'm pretty sure that in respect to the MLP:FiM universe that your life or "destiny" is already predetermined. In Magical Mystery Cure Twilight tells Spike that the problem is that she changed the destiny of her friends and they are no longer who they are meant to be which ended up being a disaster. And in It's About Time when Twilight tries to alter the course of the future she ends up fulfilling her own prophecy, which implies that the entire series of events had already been predetermined to happen.

Ive always had a feeling Celestia was just all behind this, putting Twilight out to one day take her place, but first having to guide her through finding out friendship. Like Twilight already had the key of advanced magic, she just needed friendship.

I agree with this theory and as it says ‘anyone could hold the elements of harmony’ I think that that especially the peo-ponies the mane 6 got their items from could as well because they we’re taught too. Of course Discord wouldn’t because he is The spirt of Chaos.

I actually have a theory of my own for this. I believe that each of the main six ARE the elements of harmony. hear me out... 1000 years ago Celestia used every ounce of magic in the elements to banish luna to the moon, but only the physical remnants of the elements remained. fast forward 1000 years and the elements are only activated by the ponies of the main six. meaning the magic of the elements was IN the main six ponies. this also explains why the elements changed their shape to what they are now. the proof of this theory is really plain but not shown till season 4 when the tree of harmony is seen and we see that the slots the trees go in are ALSO shaped like the cutie marks that the main six have. When the magic was let out of the elements, they basically BECAME ponies. only twili's parents are ever seen. so it's not to far fetched to believe that each of the main six is actually an orphan.

Here's my thinking. You're on the right track with their friendship and the elements but your forgetting one important thing that was shown in the second episode of the pilot. Their talents! For example, Rarity is creative and uses what she creates to help others. Thus is what her element of harmony represents, generosity. Although some of the others might not fall in the explanation, it's obvious that each of their abilities and passions help themselves and each other grow. Since Twilight in the beginning never thought she needed friends and believe in only her own magic, it was important that these five ponies with these certain talents and morals met twilight. Because they each had a talent that represented an element of harmony and Twilight had to meet them in order to bring out the sixth. It was also so she could bring out her true potential as well as the others. That also is a key part in their destiny. Whoo...please get back to me and let me know if you think this makes sense. Well, I do believe others can wield the elements, now I have two theories specifically from this video and the return of harmony part 2. We see that when Spike is given the element of loyalty, which fits him the best, the elements powers don't work and only the ponies are levitated in the air. Now my theory about this is that either dragons aren't effective with the elements or he's in the wrong group of friends. Now here is where the video comes into play. I strongly agree with Notion saying that any-pony can wield the elements, but they have to be in a certain group of friends in order to fill out a specific spell. Now let me explain, My personal theory is that when a certain group of ponies are paired together the elements have a different effect each time, like with Celestia she only delayed Nightmares attack while the main six drained her of the darkness inside. So what would happen if another group of ponies shot a rainbow beam at Nightmare, would the same thing happen or would the elements not work entirely? Reply if you have suggestions.

Theoretically, almost anyone could bear at least ONE of the elements of harmony, because these are virtues that we try to cultivate and encourage in society, it stands to reason that most people probably value and embody at least one of these elements enough to use it. (Personally I'd like to think mine would be loyalty) But as it was stated, a deep connection of friendship to the other element bearers pumps up their power.

But not anymore since now the elements are now tied to the mane 6

I never thought that if there were more stallions in the mane six, that the power would be weaker. I always thought that there should be a stallion or more for the main six because it would give a message to kids that you can make friends with anybody. But I think it is true, same genders have more of a chance to be friends with each other than non same genders.

Actually, I think the Elements were reserved for the Mane 6 specifically. My proof is in Twilight's Kingdom, where the Mane 6 get up, unfazed by Tirek, while the rest of Equestria is left paralyzed (Except the other 3 alicorns, Discord and Spike, but draconequus magic is an unknown, I don't think Spike had much taken away from him except his fax abilities, and the other 3 alicorns gave up their magic as opposed to having it stolen, so that's something different altogether). How did they get up so quickly? Their magic was stolen, but not all of it. The Mane 6 have protected magic inside them; magic that, when combined with the power within the chest, was amplified so many times, they themselves became one with their Element of Harmony. Think about it... Why would their remaining magic be amplified to be equal to that of the Elements? It's obvious... that magic IS the Elements! But who's to say they didn't pick this up when they first used the Elements? Maybe what happened was the Elements' magic fused with the Mane 6's magic and vice versa when they were used. I don't think so, because there's something else I want to bring up. Even as fillies, the Mane 6 still represented their Elements:

 - Rainbow Dash showed Loyalty through her motivation to start the race to defend Fluttershy

 - Fluttershy showed Kindness when calming down the woodland critters after the Rainboom

 - Applejack showed Honesty in Manehattan when she stopped trying to hide who she was

 - Rarity showed Generosity by using the gems she found purely for the school play... thing

 - Pinkie Pie showed Laughter by throwing that party to get her family to at least smile

Notice something here? This all happened when they got their cutie marks! And we all know that cutie marks are a form of magic, so what do you suppose that means? Between this and the first topic, it's quite obvious. The protected magic inside them was ALWAYS there! But that leaves us with perhaps the most peculiar question of all... Namely, "Why doesn't Twilight fit into this trend?" If we remember how Twilight got her cutie mark, magical crap was blowing up, and Celestia came in and Twily got her CM. How she got her cutie mark: Magic. Her Element: Magic. Voila! But it's not that simple. When she used the same kind of magic on the Elements to make the sixth appear, nothing happened. It was the Magic of Friendship that caused it to appear, and it was the Magic of Friendship that was used every time after that. It's even in her cutie mark: She was destined to meet the rest of the group. And yet, even as a filly, proved in the BBBFF song, she didn't understand the Magic of Friendship. Anyone else noticing a contradiction here? The Mane 6 had their "Elemental magic" in them from the start, and yet Twilight was against hers. We see in the pilot that she was appalled by the very idea of making friends, so why would that be her destiny; her Element? I don't have all the answers yet, but other than that, this theory is fairly plausible.

Season 4 confirmed that Celestia has visions. How far ahead they go is a mystery, but we know that she has ways of planing for major events to happen. (i.e Twilight's princessdom [ Luna's book in The Crystal Empire] ) She could have been planning and anticipating all the major events in the show.

Interesting analysis, but two things in particular stuck out to me as inconsistencies in the logic.

First, you said that it could be possible than anyone else that particularly embodies one of the elements could use them, but when Spike tried to use the Element of Loyalty with the rest of the Mane Six sans Rainbow Dash against Discord, it failed. Although, maybe Element of Loyalty had already become specifically attached to Rainbow Dash, and at that point no one else could use it? Until maybe they were left alone for some time, or... really, how does one lose their connection to their element? Celestia lost hers to all of them when the Mane Six used them against Nightmare Moon, but we don't really know why, Anyway...

The other problem was that you said the Mane Six using the elements was somehow stronger than Celestia using them, and this one is more obvious. Against Discord, Celestia and Luna used the elements to trap him for 1000 years, and when the Mane Six used them, they got the same result. Maybe they got the same result this time because Celestia was actually using them with Luna and thus the elements were being used to their maximum potential, but the "trapped for 1000 years" result is the same as Nightmare Moon. So why hadn't anything more significant happened to Discord? Maybe he couldn't have had evil purged from him like in Nightmare Moon's case, but it's inconsistent that they had the same result.

I feel like the MLP show works around the basis that destiny exists as a solid path that shapes the people walking on it, or ponies in this case.
In reality, I believe it's strictly coincidences, not some predetermined path.
But I agree with this video as long as ponies are involved. I mean, if destiny wasn't solidified, then cutie marks couldn't work, theoretically speaking.

Have any of you read the wings of fire?At the end of the Dragonet Prophecy(the actual prophecy, not the book) it mentions five dragons hatching together, born to end the fight. The mane six got their cutie marks all together, at the same time. Is it any coincidence that they were the bearers of the elements? The elements are the Elements of, keyword here, *harmony*. To have greater power, there must be as much harmony as possible. Based on the mane six's ages in equestria girls, they seem to be the same age, roughly. I might even go as far as to say they were born at the same time

Here's what I think:After Twilight had that large burst of magic and attracted Celestia to the testing room where Twilight was (The day Twilight gained her cutie mark), Celestia saw what Twi's cutie mark was, and automatically assumed she was destined to be the bearer of the element of magic. Hence why she took Twilight as her own personal student, and allowed her to work by her side. Then, once, Nightmare Moon was coming back, Celestia told her to make friends, so there could be new holders of the elements. I feel as though there was a strange attraction between the main six, though it might not have been strong, it helped keep them together after the pilot episode, and they later became the new holders of the elemnts

To me their elements, each of those elements is what you need too be a good friend 'Friend Is Magic'

I agree with this ^^ It fits a lot of missing pieces together! Actually, just the other day I was just thinking about this topic. I was thinking, if the Mane 6's meeting was destiny, what would happen if Nightmare Moon was never banished? Would they meet in another way? This theory also kinda ties into my own about the Cutie Mark Crusaders being the next hosts of the Elements of Harmony. Was it coincidence the Crusaders met during call of the cutie? And is it coincidence that they share so many similarities to the Mane 6? Just my little headcanon.

I had once imagined one pony bearing all elements and becoming 'the avatar of harmony' but yeah, what you said makes a lot more sense.

Although I could agree that the elements of harmony could be used by possibly anypony, there's still the aspect that each of the Mane Six' cutiemarks matched the symbol on their representative element of harmony. That being said, perhaps the Tree of Harmony itself chose each of them personally. And that includes Luna and Celestia. Because on the Tree of Harmony, it contained six slots for each of the Mane Six' elements of harmony. But there were not six individual symbols on the Tree of harmony, there were eight. There were the six that belonged to what we refer to the Mane Six, plus two more that hat Celestia's and Luna's cutiemarks. So the reason why Luna and Celestia had the ability to harness the power of the elements of harmony was because they too were chosen by the Tree of Harmony. Luna and Celestia were also element bearers. And that being said, perhaps the Mane Six would be more accurately referred to as the Mane Eight. How's that for a fan theory?

My theory is that the six pointed star is a much more universal symbol for magic, itself. After all, Shining Armor has it as well. My theory is that she knew what was coming and was preparing for it. She knew the Element of Magic would bring the others together, so she focused on that. Her first attempt was with Sunset Shimmer, to whom she told her plans. Knowing she was "destined" to save Equestria, she became arrogant, which lead to her fall from grace. As for the others, it's hard to say. Fan fictions have had some interesting theories as to why those specific mares were the ones to bear the Elements, but the truth is, we may never know.

Interesting... It's also worth mentioning that, being sisters, Luna and Celestia already had the magic of friendship on their side. After Luna became Nightmare Moon, Celestia presumably had no friends, meaning the elements were pretty much useless. So she took on students to perhaps pass this ability on to.

Personally I think that adding something such as older person or male person or different species (not equine species like dog cat dragon etc) could at first weaken it but if overcome and ACCEPTED (emphasis) would actually cause it to strengthen the bond of friendship as it becomes more encompassing to others. But that's how I see it.

well i do believe celestia's forsight actually in the sombra two part when celestia tells twilight to go to the crystal empire it seemed as if celestia already knew wahat was going to happen

I think it’s pretty silly to think gender would affect the group somehow.
(If anything the young six later on in the series proves that it really doesn’t)

One thing we do know for sure is Celestia shows tremendous foresight when it comes to Twilight Sparkle specifically. Remember that Cadence was her "foalsitter" since before Twilight had her cutiemark. We do not know about the others, but it certainly appears as though Celestia has been grooming Twilight for princess-hood from a very early age, perhaps since birth. Personally, I think this is something the writers will have to explain sooner or later. I also find it hard to believe that Twilight has not seemed to realize this, or is not bothered by this at all. This question goes to the heart of who she is and where she came from, and where she is going. It seems important to me.

So if they ALL got them at the same time, wouldn't that lead to eventually meeting? If the cutie marks are destiny, won't ponies getting them at the same time mean their destined to meet?

I'm a woman and the closest I ever truly feel to "friendship magic" or peace or personal harmony or whatever you want to call it, is when I'm with my best friend, who is a guy. We have a strictly platonic relationship, and I love him as much as I love my actual brother. I wish the world, or even the mlp world, OR EVEN the mlp fandom would accept that men and woman can love each other platonicly.

I got two things to say I cannot believe I never thought of this before only those worthy may posses it's power sound like I've hear that ho right Thor's hammer in which the master or creator or what ever decides who gets in now because this a magic tv show I'm just going to say this I think Mother Nature foretold it you may think I'm crazy well look as at who created the elements oh right a magic tree from nature

Ok so here’s my theory, so why the mane 6 where chosen is way long ago when the 3 tribes didn’t get along. There where 6 ponies that matched the elements perfectly. One of them was clover the clever, clover the clever matched the element of magic perfectly. That’s my theory

yes,I agree with the theroy and I got a few things to say about the age and gender.Age would get in the way,unless your in the same age group,think about it,if your friends with a baby then all they could say is goo goo gaa gaa,or my not no whats going on,their brains are still developing.
Being friends with an old person doesnt make any sense,they would either be sleeping or might think it's baby stuff.
Now about gender,it doesn't matter unless your just making fun of them or whatever.Boys can be friends with girls,not love,they can just be regular best buds,if they match the elements and are true to their friends then the power of magic can be unlocked

I think the way the elements work is that it brings out what's on the inside what I mean by that is nightmare moon when celestia first defeated her their was darkness inside of her the second time there was a slight bit of good inside of her returning her to normal. Discord had a heart as cold as stone so he got turned into stone that's what I think at least please take it into consideration

While I fully respect your opinion that any five random ponies could've become friends with Twilight and wielded the remaining elements, it's frankly pretty silly to me.

1: They wouldn't even be able to relate to each other if they were a mish-mash of ponies of all different kinds. Also, I don't think the viewers could relate to the scrambled group whose only common trait with filly Twilight is that they were affected by the sonic rainboom and got their cutie marks. It's totally unattractive and makes no sense, which is part of why what actually happened, happened.

2: Since it's been a long day and I can't think of any other arguments at the moment, your statement that "there's no real answer that justifies why they were put together" pretty much sums it up. Destiny is hard, if not impossible, to understand with the concept of logic. It occurs because, owing to an obscure set of reasons we can't grasp/aren't meant to grasp, it is meant to occur. Destiny itself wouldn't have a purpose if we could explain why every event in a given sequence in a pony's life occurred. It would be degraded from a mysterious, magical concept to an ordinary one in... ten seconds flat. Sorry, I couldn't resist!

From me to you, from one MLP fan to another, destiny is remarkable, and life is nothing without mystery.

I think that celestia would have to find new barriers of the elements of harmony because she lost a possession with a elements that's because she never said anything about Luna so she wasn't being honest and that's why the elements didn't do there full potential.

But if thats true, why the element of loyalty did not work with spike when discord appears? In my opinion is the destiny of the cutie marks

Pretty sure Celestia knew Twilight was the destined bearer of the Element of Magic when she got her cutie mark, which matched the Element symbol on the Tree of Harmony. As for how she knew who the other five were, well, Sunbutt works in mysterious ways.

Wait, I just thought of something!
Most people (including me) may think that if Flutter hadn't been bullied, then Rainbow Dash wouldn't have done the race and performed the sonic rain boom, thus making Fluttershy the reason they're all together. But, if you think about it, it was because of the bullies that they're together!
Think about, they had been teasing Fluttershy cause she couldn't fly. If they hadn't bullied her, rainbow dash wouldn't have protected her friend. So it's basically because of the bullies..... No? Okay then =)

This also got me thinking about princess Celestia. I don't think she was over powered by chrysalis or duped by Discord that easily. Shes been around a long time and I think she has tons of wisdom. I believe before the season 3 conclusion shes been holding back her true power to test and teach twilight, at any moment I think Celestia could have taken control of the situations that were going on.

If you don't know the pillars ( starswirl and the others ) said that the main six represented their own elements which mathched perfectly with their talents

I kinda disagree with the theory that 1 person can't use the elements of magic to there full patiental because when Luna and Celestia used the elements of harmony together they still left the evil in discord and just turned them to stone nothing else happened . Ofcourse this is just my opinion can you tell me what you think?

I thought, the five other ponies became the other elements because they represented the value of the elements TO Twilight. She realised it during the spark-moment. Her element looks different to the others and it is her who activates the powers of the elements. so it`s technically her, who is in charge and the others are the choosen ones to carry one element. Maybe any other pony could happend to become one if Twilight would had seen the one as one of the elements. Bon Bon for Generosity maybe...etc.
That`s why Luna and Celestia could carry more than one element. Because they resembled the properties for each other.Luna held Loyalty,Laughter and Honesty. She could`nd use them anymore, because Celestia didn`t see Loyalty, Laughter and Honesty in her sister anymore after she became Nightmare Moon. Celestia could`nt use them again after she banished Nightmare Moon with the elements because she doubt´ed herself and Luna didn`t see Generosity, Magic and Kindness in her anymore, after she got banished with the elements. Maybe Celestia could still carry Magic, if she banished Luna with her own magic and not with the elements....

If anyone that is loyal could bear the element of loyalty why did it not work with spike then?

Celestia also used the word destiny in celestia's Ballid which would hint that she knew that this was twilight's destiny all along.

celestia was the one who put twilight in charge of the celebrations, with a specific itinerary. each one corresponded to a main five job. since we haven't seen any competitors that could have been in ponyville at the time of the event, celestia told twilight specifically to find each member of the main five (except for pinkie, who finds you). so what do you think the chances are that celestia ordered twilight to check up on the 4 of 5 people she would need to save the day?

I was thinking, only the element of magic is shaped like Twilight's cutie mark right off the bat. The rest of  them only became shaped how they were after the crystal shards circling around the ponies, maybe being exposed to their magic or something. I think the only reason these 5 are the elements of what they are is because twilight was the friend that sparked it, and the qualities were basically created to fit the ponies chosen to bear them. The reason they were generic shapes before is that the two princesses used them , and only saw them as magic, not as the magic of these 6 ponies.

Well it makes more sense with the meeting of the six dcshgs (2nd gen) than the mane six in FiM or at least the backstory is less complicated

If you look at the past on how the elements were created youed find out your answers, the elements created by lots of ponys not just one making them very powerful

Okay, I have a theory. We all heard Celestial say, “I only said to make friends.”, so what if SPIKE was the only reason it “said” , “simply stop reading those dusty old books!” Do a video, please!

Even I think even discord can use the elements of harmony and I bet it would reform him to a whole new form because the power of harmony and in chaos together will make a whole balance a friendship

While I do think anyone could bear the elements of harmony, I thing your theory of Twilight being Clover the Clever plays in with her cutie mark being the element of magic.  Like how Sunset Shimmer was implied to be Celestia's first choice for being the bearer of the element of magic.  If Sunset hadn't become too greedy for power, she might have actually been the one to bear the elements alongside the other mane five instead of Twilight.

It could have been a mix of destiny and a coincidence. Remember Celestia's Ballad? The final line says, "...your destiny." So it WAS Twilight's destiny to be the Princess of Friendship. So it was destiny that she would make friends. But particulary the Mane Six? Possibly. Though, because the Sonic Rainboom, by best pony, got the Mane Six's cutie marks at the SAME TIME, it is possible that it was destiny that they would be friends, or the bearers of the Elements of Harmony. Also, the elements of harmony are in the shape of the Mane Six's cutie marks. (Also, I know that they were just crystals when Celestia used them, but Twilight's element was almost EXACTLY the shape of her cutie mark.) Also, I'm pointing out that not anyone can just USE the elements. Even if they are extremely [insert any harmony element here]. Remember in Return of Harmony, when the Mane Six (Five) were going to use the elements on discord, but nothing happened. Spike is VERY loyal, but nothing still happened. (I'm also pointing out that if RD NEVER pulled off the Sonic Rainboom, then destiny would be broken.) So, it almost IS destiny that the Mane Six would be the bearers of the Elements of Harmony. But going to Celestia's foresight, even though Celestia is basically Equestria's god, I think that she knew that the Mane Six were going to unite and defeat Nightmare Moon, but not in the form of destiny. I think that she knew Twilight was going to be the Element of Magic, because she was there, but I think that she knew that the other five were probably the future bearers. But she knew that Twilight wouldn't just go to Ponyville, and make friends, so she tried to convince Twilight to go to Ponyville and befriend the other five. So she has probably been to Ponyville and met he other five, and she knew Pinkie would welcome almost ANYONE, so she told Mayor Mare (or Mayor [I don't know]) that Twilight was going to a new resident of Ponyville and that she was going to live in the Ponyville Library. So when Pinkie gasped, ran off, she probably went to the mayor and asked about Twilight's new home, and then she ran to the other five (four) and told them (best impression [my standards]), "PARTY. LIBRARY. NIGHT. SURPRISE. NEW PONY." and then the events of the first episode happens. So Celestia knew that Twilight needed to make friends with the other five, so she did the best she could to get Twilight to meet them. So the events of the first episode wasn't destiny.

I think the elements were stronger with Luna and Celestia than they were with Celestia alone. After all the bond between the royal sisters is extremely powerful. However the elements still weren't as powerful as they were with the mane 6.
When Celestia used them they were a super-powered version of her own magic beam. She couldn't summon the rainbow of harmony on her own.
I think that Celestia was serious about books being old and dusty. Also, there was a previous mane 6 but that one failed.

Technically, they were already the elements of harmony before they met. Applejack was naturally honest, Pinkie was fun and so forth. I guess that's kind of the point...

I know you already answered this question in the vid, but why the main six? They all got their cutie marks at the same time. When discord brought chaos, twilight put the element of loyalty necklace on spike bc she didn't have rainbow dash by her side at the moment. And he didn't rise like the others did and he was still a friend. But with him not "pony" that goes with it, plus that he isn't a pony might be a flaw in my theory.

My theory (based on yours) is that Celestia realized the main six got their cutie marks at the same time and decided to wait til they were old enough, so that she could get them together...

I agree with you but I say that the elements of harmony are a bit sentient since they know who to go to and they know who there master was since Spike had the element of loyalty on and his is very loyal to Twilight. When an element is bared it choices to let that pony use them or not. meaning that there is some form of mind or intelligent within the elements themselves. The magic they have is only at its strongest when all six are under the bare of friends. See what I'm saying.

Somehow I think the reason why and how the main six were chosen to be the new bearers of the Elements of Harmony is because maybe when Rainbow Dash performed the "Sonic Rainboom", it probably not just helped the other five find their destinies one what make them happy, but also maybe have effected both the Elements and the Tree of Harmony. Like maybe the "Sonic Rainboom" was a sign to the magic in the Elements or the Tree on who their new chosen "Spirits of Harmony" should be, after their magic lost their connection with Celestia and Luna (due to Luna betraying Celestia).

Your bit about Celestia is wrong, you forgot that during the "fight" with Discord, Celestia wielded only a few of the elements while Luna wielded the rest. Without Luna the elements were incomplete, only being able to send the nightmare to the moon. Had it been somepony else overtaken by darkness Celestia and Luna would have been able to rid that pony of said darkness. If it happened again, while the elements were still in play, say to one of the mane six they'd only be able to send the problem away not fix it. The elements need to be complete in order to work.

The roles of Celestia and the Sonic Rainboom have clearly been described in the episodes 'Celestial Advice' and 'The Cutie Re-Map'.

Remember how twilight got wings as Celestia said it was to fulfil her destiny? Well Celestia definitely knew her destiny. So maybe Celestia knew that twilights future was the 5 friends, so she sent twilight to ponyville.

Could be just me.. But Celestia, in equestria and the high school, both seem to know a whole lot more about is and will be happening.

It couldn't be a coincidence, that I agree, but I highly doubt any other pony would be able to use the other elements.

Ok so let's see, they all got their cutie marks at one time, which in a way was by accident and was caused by the impact (let's call it that for now ;p) and influenced their destiny or talent (and what makes them special I guess) so their cutie mark influences their destiny, and because Celestia wasn't experiencing the magic of friendship she wouldn't be able to use the full power of the elements to stop and appease her sister, however the mane six come in, already have found their destinies, etc. So let's see... By one simple glimpse at the cutie marks it'd be hard to tell or assume what their destinies were, however (again) it was caused by accident, on rainbow's rainboom occurrence. So they all find peace and friendship and together finally accept each other, for instance, twilight was obviously annoyed by the five alone, but her destiny finally starts coming into play, and accepts them, then she turns to an alicorn and has trouble accepting that she is a princess. It's all on pace, so was it an accident? Depends on what you're looking at, Celestia obviously meant for Twilight to earn some fri- WAIT! Celestia was outside in Twilight's outburst! She knew what her cutie mark meant! She had to finish Twilight's destiny like Twilight finishing Starswirl's spell! So in the beginning, it was most likely on accident, then Tia realized what Twilight was going to be, and helped her reach the "goal" of her destiny in becoming a princess!

Great theory btw but yeah, I doubt that unless the "another pony" was there from the very start, then I doubt that they can use the elements.

Maybe there is a secret room celestia goes to hidden in the mountain way above canterlot and that room has prophecy-telling abilities, so celestia saw what was coming and knew what to do next.

I think no other ponies could wear the elements because, in the return of harmony, she tries to get spike to use the element while rainbow was under discords spell. That's just a thought.

Remember that one episode where Twilight had to use dark magic on the potion then it turned white? When she had the flashbacks Luna was helping Celestia with the elements of harmony! So that's my theory..

I almost feel like perhaps when Celestia was younger, she bore only one element of harmony, generosity. If you look at Celestia's crown and necklace they both have a purple gem that looks almost exactly like rarity's element. Perhaps she started out being mainly just generous, but gained other elements along the way. Also, this is completely off-topic but where did rarity get her British accent? We've seen her parents. They are definitely not British and Rarity even said she was born in ponyville. So where did that exactly come from?

I think that Princess Celestia sent Twilight to Ponyville because she knew that Nightmare Moon was coming back, so she assigned the jobs that Twilight would oversee to "a very special group of ponies" that she mentions. Celestia knew that if they became friends, Twilight was bound to figure out the connection and save the day. That would explain why she didn't sound at all surprised when Luna came back and the new bearers of the elements of harmony got their necklaces (and tiara).

Celestia could have planned it out. She probably knew the mane 5 were the spirits of the elements of harmony. so she made them plan the summer celebration.

One,on how the Mane 6 got their cutie marks through the rain boom.The rainbow actually represents unity and,of course,friendship.And only Rainbow Dash can do that not because of her mane,but because of what she did.She stood up for Fluttershy by competing in a race against the bullies.And it did'nt ended up getting her first rain boom, it also got her and the Mane 6 cutie marks.

Second, why they were chosen.The Elements of Harmony represents qualities of a true friend. Honesty can help you solve your problems if you tell them the truth.Kindness can make your friends happy. Laughter can cheer up a person despite his or her problems. Generosity can influence others. Loyalty can make friendships stronger.The Mane 6 had already posessed these qualities.We just don't see them.We saw them show it in the pilot episode.

Third, why include Twilight?It comes to show that even a student who doesn't learn to make friends can learn to do so. It proved that there are some things that you can't learn in school.

Lastly,did Celestia set this up? Was it her intention to pick Twilight as the overseer of the Summer Sun Celebration and become the bearer of the Element of Magic? What I find funny is Twilight didn't follow Celestia's request/order in the pilot, bu like in later episodes Twilight seems strangely nervous around the Sun princess and almost never goes against Celestia's wishes now. 

But unless Celestia can see the future than I don't think so, she knows that Twilight could free Luna and that Twilight is a princess. When Twilight broke the spell on Luna Celestia said that every year she raised the sun it was just a reminder of banishing her sister, so I believe that Celestia only had a general idea of Twilight being able to free Luna only form the magic she already showed. As for the other ponies Celestia didn't have anything to do with the rainboom and once again most likely saw stand out ponies pre elements. The main five without Twilight all take on great tasks in the town, such as in winter wrap up they were group leaders.

I did have a theory that the main 6 were reincarnated from the 6 pillars. tho I made it before I got to the end of season 7. but I think it could be what may have happened, maybe the pillars died going to limbo, and the main 6 were reincarnated from them, and when they were brought back, the pillars gained their physical forms backs, but maybe not their souls. I still think its a long shot tho

Well I have mixed feelings about that every pony who is really loyal or kind or whatever can use the element because when discord turned the main 6 their oposide self when twilight find the elements and they kinda worked even if rarity, applejack, pinkie and fluttershy weren't their usual selves but the element of loyalty didn't work even the slightest and I think that everyone knows that spike is loyal so I really don't believe if everyone who is kinda representing one of the elements could use them like the main 6.

A theory has been put out that the Elements, even in their dormant state, were drawing the six ponies who best represented them together.  Think about it.  Applejack, even as a filly, was honest to a fault.  Rarity was much more generous than the average filly or colt, using the gems she found for her costumes rather than for personal gain.  Pinkie Pie is harder to place, but as we've seen, she had that party spirit in her all the time.  Fluttershy was extremely kind, willing to help frightened animals she only just met.  And Rainbow Dash is extremely loyal.  In fact, if she had known about Fluttershy falling, I know she would have forfeited the race just to help her.  As for Twilight, everypony wanted to be her friend.  She was the one resisting.  So, even as fillies, the Mane 6 represented the Elements of Harmony so much that they were drawn to them eventually.

Celestia knew that the mane 5 could connect to the element and celestia send twilight to release luna from mightmare moon and create the spark

I like to think that Celestia didn't right the dusty old books part, but that spike tried to make up an exuse for twilight to stop reading so spike and twilight could do stop OUTSIDE her studies.

Perhaps it was a vision from celestia. She had a vision in the episode twilights kingdom. Perhaps she had one and saw the mane 6 in the future

The reason why Clelestia  only locked nightmaremoom in the moon for a thousand years and the mane six turned her back to Luna was cause Celestia didn't fully represent three of the elements so the spell was broken

Also probhably the reson why it only lasted 1000 moons was b/c they were no longer contected and it wasn't right for celestia to used all of them against luna. I think that the answer to the question is that those 6 not only fit in each one of the elements, but they are connected in a very special way because of the Sonic Rainboom. This event made Twilight get her cutie mark that is very special, because it's directly related to the elements of harmony, and with the magic exposed by the Sonic Rainboom, those 6 ponies became linked somehow, as all of them only got their cutie marks because of the same thing, and one of them has a very special role on the history of Equestria, that is Twilight's cutie mark. I don't know if Celestia planned to all the other 5 to get along with themselves, but i think that somehow she discovered the bond that those 6 have, and that's why she sent Twilight to Ponyville. However, one thing that I want to point is that maybe it was the friendship from ancient ponies that created the elements, as we see in one episode, Clover the Clever makes that "magic fire heart", and that incident may be what allowed the elements to exist in the first place. If that's true, the mane 6 shouldn't even need the elements after some point, because they're the elements. The essence of friendship is what created the elements, they're just a tool that holds this power. The mane 6 are the ones that creates and have this essence with them. And if the theory of Clover being Twilight is correct, that explains everything. Knowing friendship and having a great experience in doing magic, she would easily be able to unite all of them there and doing such great feat, and by being so, her cutie mark didn't come from the elements of harmony, it's the element that received the same shape of Twilight's cutie mark. I think this would explain everything.

I'd say coincidence DID happen, but not in the way you'd expect.
Fans believe in Trollestia because their mindset said to them: This setup is BS, there's no such things as Coincidence (second bit is Rule 39 from NCIS). But actually there is coincidence in this episode. Twilight followed her list, but did Celestia KNOW who got their Cutie Marks during the Sonic Rainboom incident? We don't really know because there's nothing supplementing this.
It could easily have been coincidence for Celestia to choose them based on their skills rather than their elements.
1. Fluttershy is known to work with animals and could easily gather a choir of birds to sing for her arrival.
2. Applejack was having her family reunion and Celestia asked them because there were dozens of Apple cooks that could make multiple treats without a hassle.
3. Rainbow Dash just happened to be one of the ponies having a weather job AND was known for being fast. She could clear the skies easily even with a tight deadline.
4. Rarity was an up and coming designer with a fantasy for Canterlot. Asking her to decorate for her visit was a step into the right direction for Rarity's dream (again, coincidence that it would help Rarity's standing).
5. Pinkie Pie is a legend in Ponyville for throwing excellent parties that surpass the GGG (because Tia knows just how 'great' the GGG really is... YEAR AFTER YEAR AFTER YEAR!! (LOLZ!!)). You know it is just a show. Isn't it pretty likely that the writers just had an idea in mind for the main characters, so they just put it together that way.

I don't agree about one thing: Celestia bear the elements "alone" because her sister (the second bearer) was still there  even if she was in NM form. When she was banished on the moon Celestia couldn't use the elements anymore (if celestia was loyalty as official wikipedia says) she betray her sister so she is not loyal anymore. The elements turn to stone until the mane six arrive.

The Changelings attack now. Celestia knew she would not be able to protect Equestria forever. Her powers are getting weak. The Changling Queen defeated her rather easily. One day, she will not be able to raise the sun. I think Sunset Shimmer was to be her replacement for sunrise (her cutie mark is a sun) and Twilight Sparkle for moonrise (her cutie mark is a star). I think Celestia and Luna will die defending Equestria and Twilight, Sunset, and the Elements of Harmony will defeat this last greatest enemy and peace will reign.

You are making a mistake in your in your analyze. You said was Destined to be the one that represent magic because her Cutie Mark is magic... But the thing is that Rainbow Dash actualy got her cutie mark first since she got it almost at the same time she did the Rainboom while the others got it after. The only one that was Destined to be an element of Harmony was Rainbow Dash since she gave herself her own Cutie mark while all the others got it because of Rainbow... Actualy Rarity is the second one that was actualy destined to be one too because her horn brought her there loooooooooong before the Rainboom ever happened. While any other student in Canterlot could have been the Element of Magic since Twilight didn't had her cutie mark before the Rainboom. Heck Twilight could even barely do any magic at all before the Rainboom. Rainbow Dash and Rarity are the only non expendable one. The element of magic could have been Trixie or Sunset if she never left given to your analyze. Rainbow being the one who actualy give them their cutie mark and even Twilight's magical ability is easily relatable to the fact the Element of Harmony use Rainbow to do spell and well Rainbow is the one that connected them and is the one who does a Rainboom and so well you see my point.

So in Magical Mystery Cure, when Applejack changed cutie marks, does that mean her destiny changed? I mean, her cutie mark obviously appeared because she knew she didn't belong in Manehattan, she belonged in Sweet Apple Acres, her home and where her family lives. Her cutie mark represents her, Big Mac, and Granny Smith. (not counting Apple Bloom since she wasn't/we didn't see her in the scene.) But when she changed and got Rarity's cutie mark, does this mean she never came back when the rainboom appeared on the sky? And Pinkie replaced Applejack? But wait.. The rainboom never happened because RD changed as well.. So confusing..

Celestia MADE the bullies bully Fluttershy so that Rainbow would do a sonic rainboom! It's the only solution! :)

However this would not be true, nobody other than the mane 6 would be able to wield the elements of harmony UNLESS they had the same traits or something. When Discord made his first appearance in MLP the ponies (except twilight) were hypnotized and were the opposite of their traits. When Twilight asked Spike to pose as Rainbow dash to banish discord... It didn't work. This would lead to a broken link in the chain. This could be because they were hypnotized into acting the opposite or because spike could not pose as Rainbow Dash/Loyalty. Even though Spike does have that trait of loyalty, this would mean nobody other than The mane 6 would be able to use them. Even if the cutie marks were mixed up.
