This explains why her full name "mi amore cadenza" translates to "I love cadence". Maybe after the super strong spell was broken, the only "name" she remembered having was the one thing the stallion kept repeating. That's why her name is Cadence and not "Cadence of the heart and soul" or something.

I'm not trying to defend Cadance's actions, but it would make sense that her love spell created a sense of "puppy love" in the couple instead of something more profound-- Cadance is a teenager at this time, and having been one, teenagers tend to have a warped perception of love. At that time, love is hormonal, senseless, and distracting. I can't count the times I neglected to tell my partners what was wrong in the relationships when I was younger, because I was simply too distracted by the few good moments to stop and think about the mountain of bad. Cadance hasn't done anything like that in the present because she's an adult, and probably has had time to mature her understanding of love beyond that "puppy love" we see her force on the arguing couple.

I think that perhaps she is their daughter and that’s why she can do the “love” spell, because her parents were affected by the potion.

I think I connected the dots, so thanks for the help with this! I think the alicorn was Cadence's mother, they had Cadence, and due to the love poison, I think that's why Cadence can do it to other ponies. She gained some of the love poison genes or whatever you should call it, then now she can use it to make other ponies act like they just drank the potion a little. Also, the kingdom they talk about could very well be the Crystal Empire! It fell because the two royals were distracted when King Sombra bowed to darkness, with the events of Sawtooth's theory of Sombra's past coming before. But what does everyone think? How could this fit into the lore of My Little Pony?

I have some ideas. Personally,I believe that maybe the spell used on the princess,went on for so long it had grown attached to her. When Celestial broke the spell,the magic of it stuck with Cadence,and it became her element. As Cadence started recovering from the years she spent trapped in her spell,she found comfort in helping others with love. She was young,and didn't understand that her spell was not helping,because that was all she knew. Slowly,she grew as a person and found the meaning behind healthy and true love. Hearts and hooves day was created as a celebration of the day she was freed!

I belive that Cadence is the love Child of the Prince and Alicorn and Celestia took her in and made sure she was okay.

Recovering from abusive and codependent relationships is a very real struggle. But it teaches you how to love in a healthier way by setting boundaries and communicating your needs instead of relying on fairy tale type love. Honestly, a pony that had been through that process very much deserves to be the princess of love!

Also how did Cadnce earn her cutie mark? No one knew the crystal Empire existed.

the love spell Cadance put on the couple, i think she made them realize that a pedicure isn't important and spending time and help financially with their spouse is much more important and helped them make a better decision

A theory I personally like is that Twilight was groomed from the very beginning to be next in line for the throne, Celesta saw her potential, and knew she would be the next princess, so to prepare her she made cadence her foulsitter so she can get used to being around royalty.

i’ve always thought that cadence became an alicorn because she created that love spell and was the only one to know how to cast it (as far as we know), similar to how twilight finished starswirl’s spell.
Never thought about the sketchy part, but it may be because she was still very young in that flashback scene, thus immature and inexperienced in love. i imagine she controls the effect of the spell and (mis)judged that the puppy eyes was the best way to deal with the issue.

Omg this makes so much sense because if this did happen and “cadences kingdom fell” it could have fallen because king sombra took over, and when cadences came back it was too late because celestia had already banished king sombra but he took the kingdom with it. So when celestia freed cadences she felt terrible so never did those spells again.

Do you think its possible that cadence knows an even longer lasting love spell, and cast it on shining armor when she used to have that crutch. eventually shining armor thought the love was real and their whole reletionship stated on or might even be a spell?

As much as I’d LOVE this theory, I have to say we need to take in Chrysalis into account aswell. Chrysalis’s form is in the form of an alicorn and based off of both Celestia’s and Luna’s reactions in the wedding episode we can confirm she has been alive for a long time, and that
Celestia knows Chrysalis. Its uncertain that if luna knows Chrysalis, but we do know that Celestia does. I’d also like to bring in the fact of how tall Chrysalis is. As we know when you are an alicorn you grow if you have been alive for a very long time. We ALSO know that Chrysalis feeds on love and is the queen of the changelings. What if Chrysalis was the pony in the story, and in order to break free she had to result to who she is now? Or maybe it is the effects of the potion that continues to change her form and instead of being in love with someone she has to feed on it because the other pony is gone? I think Chrysalis being the pony of the story/ maybe being the past queen would make a lot of sense of her being apart of the equation aswell. Putting Cadence into the spotlight does makes sense, but what about Chrysalis? There are many things that we have to question. Id also like to bring in the my little pony comic. Supposedly there was a “reverse” comic, and Chrysalis was in it, and she looked to be the queen. There is a specific theory I am also referring to its called, “Who is the lost crystal princess”, by Conspirapon3.

Edit: So as im rewatching the royal wedding episode(where cadence is introduced) I had realized something. Cadences full name is Princess Mi Amore Cadenza. Mi amor means “my love” in spanish. Lets assume mi amore has something to do with love. Anyways her name and what it means isnt what in trying to get at. Her name is quite long, so its best to assume that Cadence is from a long line of royals maybe. Introducing some other comments, what if Cadence could be a possible descendent of the princess in the story? It could also make sense on why flurry heart was born an alicorn. It could be because not just one person in the family was an alicorn. Now another piece id like to introduce is how Chrysalis invaded and why she invaded. To my memory it is because of the love that could supply her and her colony, but what if there was another reason? What if Cadences and shining armors marriage is what the past crystal king and queens could not do. And if Chrysalis is the past queen is it possible she would want to stop this maybe because of jealousy? Im not sure. Id also like to point out on how Celestia was the one who arranged the marriage between Shining armor and Cadence. Celestia may have made a mistake in the past with Chrysalis and the other person and that is why she arranged it with shining armor and cadence because the marriage between chrysalis and other person had severe consequences. I was lying awake last night and I was thinking about Princess Cadence's role in the Crystal Empire and how she was already with the Crystal Heart cutie mark without even knowing about the Crystal Empire. Also where she came from and how this can relate to her connection to the crystal heart. Let's start with the older royalty of the Crystal Empire before Sombra. The Princess at the time was Amore, which is mentioned in Sombra's Origins and the Guardians of Harmony comic. Along with this information, she could be more relevant than we know because she was in the game (mlp magic princess) as an event. So let's think about the name of Cadence. Her name is Princess Mi Amore Cadenza. And in Spanish "Amore" means love and the previous princess of the Crystal Empire meant "love" while cadence's name means "my love". It's almost too closely connected to be ignored. My theory is that Cadence could be the secret daughter of Amore. To prove this by the fact Cadence was found in a pony village. The keyword here is found. And she also received her cutie mark when she was becoming an alicorn. I think it was her birthright from Amore since if she is her mom she was already powerful and the only unicorn crystal pony. My full theory is that Radiant Hope took cadence away to another village when Sombra became dark because radiant hope was close to Sombra and she knew how bad this would be for the empire when she realized there was no coming back. She is said to see herself as a princess in the crystal heart but what if it wasn't her she saw and instead she saw cadence. After all amore did say that she believes you decide your fate. And Radiant was close to the two sisters before she got cursed by sombra so I'm thinking she was told about cadence as a baby by the two sisters. The sisters were probably at the knowledge of another princess of another kingdom since they ruled all of Equestria. And this would explain why they know limited on it since all they really knew about it was what hope either told them or anything amore told them since they had no business worrying about the empire if there was already a princess there. Saved cadence the baby of Amore, and brought her to a village so no one can hurt the future savior of the crystal empire. I think that this explains her connection with the crystal empire early on and since alicorns live for a long time, I think it wouldn't be a stretch to say that cadence was a baby, possibly a newborn when Sombra killed her mother. And Sombra never knew about cadence which would make sense if she was a newborn. I think Radiant hope took cadence away in the hope she could save the crystal empire from Sombra in the future once she realized the possibility of cadence being the princess in the vision instead of her. This could connect to flurry heart too since cadence could be part crystal pony and cadence dad is unknown which would be genetics since the original amore was a unicorn and all crystal ponies are only earth ponies. So if amore was born with a horn, it could be why a flurry heart was born with wings and a horn. It was adapting to new princess standards. But Cadence's fate with the ruling empire was decided by birth. I thought about this at 2 am last night and began frantically jotting notes and my knowledge. Celestia probs adopted cadence as her niece knowing she was the successor of amore so she taught her how to rule as a princess. I think Celestia was pulling the old wink out when she adopted cadence knowing well what and where she was really from. She only met Cadence out of hiding when she went into the realm and became an alicorn. ONE more final thing would be the color scheme of amore and cadence. You might find more evidence to support this theory or differ. But this is what I think and who Cadence's father might be.

My sources are The crystal heart spell, Sombras origin, guardians of harmony, and Amore's relevance in the game by Hasbro. Meaning I think Hasbro intentionally made this connection and continued to keep it relevant.

Cadence may have never been given an official backstory, but on some level i think the mlp writers did that on purpose you know because they knew it would give us something to speculate about, and your speculations and theories Sawtooth are by far the best i've heard, but at least we know particular minor things about Cadences past namely that she was a Pegasus before becoming an Alicorn and all that, but a little information is better than no information.XD

following a comment I made earlier today I'm now very interested in the prince's cutie mark. Certainly was he a specialist of potions, and such an important status might be related to him being a prince.
Though I now wonder how the pillars weren't royalty, now.

So I just noticed something. Twilight has her mane flowy in the future (like how Celestia and Luna’s looked) she was around her friends a lot when she wasn’t as powerful. Celestia and Luna had manes like that and they were crazy OP and around the sun and moon all the time. Candace’s mane flowed when touching horns with Shining Armor, her significant other. I think the flowing mane represents strong alicorn magic and interaction with their title.

Except we see Cadence at a very young age. Even taking into account her slower aging, she was clearly immature (that is why she didn't use it again, growing up to know her spell didn't fix the core issue). She was an orphan. She could well be a child from some fallen kingdom.

Even the picture in the book shows a far older pony than Cadence as a foal sitter.

You get some of her back story in the MLP comics, I found them at the public library, and they align perfectly with the show.

We know that Cadence was a pegus, and she somehow earned a horn. I agree that those ponies in the story were Cadence's parents.

There is a book I believe on her back story, read it in my childhood. It was about cadence and her sister but I think it mentions her origins as well

I personally think it makes more sense that the alicorn in the story would have been Cadence's predecessor, the previous princess of the Crystal Empire, rather than Cadence herself. Then it would be like Cadence's power is another bridge of healing for the whole empire, a mature and healing version of what brought them down so long ago.

I would prefer the idea that she's the daughter of, instead of the alicorn in the story. Growing up that's all she knew, she thought forced love was normal, that's why at the start in twilight's flashbacks she uses it, but no longer does now that she is older, has healed and knows better.

When the empire fell in her fillyhood, Celestia took her in and adopted her and yadayada...

I think the potion she was given, stayed somewhat in her, so now she has love powers. If she wasn’t that pony, maybe she was trying to get revenge on her sister who was casted by the spell., or maybe it was her mom that was spelled, and when her mom gave birth, the potion/curse, transferred to the new baby (cadence) and she didn’t want her mother’s tragedy to happen to her. It might have been that she didn’t want the new kingdom to fall, like her mother’s did. I don’t know though, what do you think? 🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄😧

Hi Sawtooth Waves, I have something you might wanna know: If you remember your video about Susnet's defeat about the episode where Starlight creates corrupted timelines, there was somethibg I wondered about the last corrupted universe...where is that other Twilight? If you think for a moment, the Twilight we know and saw goong into these universes is the one from the main story -- but what about Twilights from these universe Starlight created? What hapoened to her after she failed her test? Did she just disappeared? Orrrr....did that other Twilight turned evil and destroyed Equestria...? And maybe she would be responsible for that last timeline Twilight showed to Starlight? Let me know what you think about it by replying to me.

a love potion can also be resuluted as a foal and that foal is 100% Cadence. I mean her father created the love potion and she knows the love spell might be a genetic ability from father to daughter.

So, often in times of a love potion altering a life, if they have a child, it will often have powers resulting from the potion.
They also can have a few side affects, like having a lack of love, be overly loving, or be a blank, where it has no resulting power affects.
In Cadences case, i belive she gained the power of love from it.
She is very trusting and loving.
Everyone around her loves her without a second thought.
And flurry heart also inherited this ability.

What slightly concerns me about Cadence is the tips of her wings. If I do recall correctly, than Chrysalis' disguise did not have the deeper, violet tipped wings. Cadence also did not have them when young, and the deeper violet is first seen after Twilight rescues her from Chrysalis's clutches. And she is also not seen flying a lot after that, and during 'Three's a Crowd', she just gives the vague excuse that she's 'gotten out of practice with flying'...or whatever the exact quote was. So it looks like Chrysalis damaged her wings.
But yeah, I do think the possibility that Cadence was the original 'love poison Alicorn' has merit, and I don't see how anyone could call her a Mary Sue. The list of feats would include using the magic of friendship/love to beat the villain, which no one can possibly complain about if they watch this show, and use her shield to keep Sombra out of the empire during S3. And, really, she and Shining Armor were swapping off with each other until Sombra attacked Shining Armor, and Cadence collapsed shortly after. Aside from that, I can't really think of any examples where she actually did anything.

I think the two ponies are Cadence’s parents. The love spell going from being what connects them into something that effects their daughter herself being born because of the potion’s spell. The parents spending too much time focusing on each other to see what their daughter is going and is neglecting her. Celestia visits a neighboring kingdom to find it falling apart and goes to confront the rulers about it only to see them being lovey dovie and inseparable while their daughter tries to figure stuff out. Celestia takes Cadence with her back to Equestria to take care of her while she tries to figure out how to help her parents. She ends up raising Cadence, and the younger becomes a babysitter to meet people and get more social, where she meets Twilight

Cadence could've of been the daughter of the Princess Alicorn who took the Love Poison before abandoning her after she was born as she was adopted by two Earth ponies which makes me believe that the 'Love Poison' could be linked to Cadences love powers allowing her to manipulate love towards different ponies to fall in love or distract the couple from the current scenario which was already mentioned in the video. Maybe a little bit of the love Poison is in Cadence explaining her love related powers..


Luna and Cadence are so underrated istg their past is so much more interesting yet it's Celestial this , Twilight that. I don't hate Twilight and Celestial but they are overrated

I like this theory but imagine if instead she was their daughter. Based on the Sombra taking over the Crystal empire theory, maybe the couple were so in love Sombra easily took over. The couple didn't call for help and maybe the potion gave Cadence her magic.

Because the Crystal Heart spell book was licensed by Hasbro I'm pretty sure that Cadence's backstory in the book is officially canon.

While I do like this theory there isn't any evidence that cadence had a kingdom before the crystal empire and we know how that fell also the love potion had an effect on their eyes. We also know that the love potion can work on people who were never in a relationship while I think cadence's works only on people in a relationship. Also we don't know if the princess in the story ever reciprocated the love towards the prince but that is up for debate

I think Cadinse had a allicorn mother that drank the love potion and as a result Cadinse was born with similar powers or abilitys to connect ponies with love spells.

If you look at the episode description of Canterlot wedding part 1, it said “Celestia’s NEICE”, which means that either celestia has ANOTHER unknown sister or family member. BUT if she got that love spell put on her, and celestia saved her, then maybe she decided to raise her. But as you can tell cadence got her wings probably quit young, younger than twilight. But as you know, flurry heart is the first ever pony to be born as an alicorn, but maybe that’s not a coincidence, maybe it’s GENES. So if the theory about the prince casting the love spell on cadence os correct, he may have been attracted to her because she was famous for being the FIRST EVER BORN ALICORN?! The prince may have found one of cadences love potions and decided to use it on her, but since celestia may have decided to raise cadence she may have tried to teach her how to create love spells that are controlled. So maybe no one except celestia, cadence and maybe Luna know about this, but cadence may be ashamed of this and so celestia and Luna decide to keep it a secret and pretend that flurry is very special 😶😧. Just a thought 😁

If love magic was the only magic she seemed to use at her age of baby sitting twilight, and that’s all we ever saw her do at that age, let’s assume how weak that is. Only that kind of magic, and doing basically what the potion would. If she was a Pegasus before hand, and then got her horn, it’d make sense for her to only know few spells. So maybe over time she learned more.

I have a theory that the princess from the book in "Hearts and Hooves day" may have been the alicorn princess who got corrupted and turned into Chrysalis. That is why Chrysalis doesn't have her origin story Only the origin of the changelings.

This is a good theory and all, but in the book it's explained that Cadence saved her home village from a witch, and earned her horn before going to live with Celestia, leaving no time for that to happen

ONCE UPON A TIME, 1000 YEARS AGO, there was a Crystal Empire, a kingdom that was made of crystal and love was used as a shield to protect it from the cold winds of the frozen north. It was ruled by princess Carol and Prince Adam, the prince and princess of the Crystal Empire. As time went by, a new princess was born. A young Pegasus. They named her Cadence. After a few years, she grew into a filly and all went well in the kingdom. But, soon, King Sombra, an evil unicorn who lost his wings, came to invade the Crystal Empire. Princess Carol and Prince Adams were worried about Cadence.

''If our Empire falls, Cadence might be able to protect it when she's much older,'' said Princess Carol to Prince Adams.

''Yes, but how?'' asked the prince.

''I have been watching her for a while now and realized she has the power of love,'' said Princess Carol. ''She will without fail be able to.''

''Ok''. Prince Adams agreed.

Princess Carol used her magic to teleport Cadence to the Castle of the 2 sisters where the rulers of all equestria lived. Princess Celestia and Luna took care of her and raised her. One day, due to preventing two unicorns, pegasus and earth ponies from fighting using her love magic, Cadence turned into the princess we know today and got her cutie mark as well.

Cadence is in the alicorn princess from the story but instead her daughter, she was a product of artificial love and growing up she always thought that loves bells and love potions were hell ponies and creatures fell in love. I feel like she might’ve used a potion similar on someone that she had a puppy crush on when she was young.

Soon enough celestial was alerted about the lovestruck Alicorn princess and pulled the family a part In order to one, break the love potion and two, try and help cadence. After that I feel like Celestia would try and teach her about love and what it truly is compared to what her parents had. 3:34-3:38 There were many times where Cadance's kingdom nearly fell. And everytime those times happen is because of King Sombra.
Maybey because she was too distracted by that "love potion" at the past, that's why her kingdom fell, like the story said but it might be because of King Sombra but it did not say in the story. Like Sawtooth said, maybey Celestia came and seperated Cadance apart from her "lover". Maybey she was too scared that will happen again so she took all her might and like what Shinning said "She hadn't slept, barely eats". This is in my opinion

Well if your theory is correct, then that means for the period of time when Cadence used the love spell, she was mentally and emotionally torturing others for her own benefit. If she was so traumatized by that experience, then it must mean that the spell causes some sort of physiological damage, as a victim of that trauma she'd know exactly how horrible it is. This is kiiiiinda something I feel like Celestia and Luna wouldn't exactly be happy about.... because she's sacrificing her subject's happiness for her own, the very subjects she's meant to lead and protect. If you think about it that way, then the theory sort of falls apart, but it's an interesting idea.

Maybe that princess was Cadence’s mom it doesn’t look exactly like her and her power was hereditary but maybe since her mother wasn’t around it adds a scar to her past.

Usually the problem between the stallion and the mare was a love they were already pair by true love but in the portion it was different big Mack and cheerliy didn't was love pair the spell that candence used is to connect the broken love not to make fake love

I was just rewatching the mlp series and I noticed that in season 2 episode 12, 'Family Appreciation Day' Miss Cheerilee's cutiemark keeps changing from her usual flowers to three umbrellas?! My Brain can't take it-

I doubt that she is the princess from the story simply from the fact that, when we see her when Twilight is a filly, we can see that she is much shorter than she is in the present day, heavily implying that she was still a child. She was likely too young to be the princess in the story, especially because the illustration shows a fully grown mare.

I hate how princess Luna and cadence are so underrated. They have an ,ummm... different past.

I have an idea for your next video: Cadence the bringer of destruction/fall of the crystal empire
How old is cadence? Think about it, she has the crystal heart as her cutiemark yet the crystal empire was gone up until season 3, so she had to have been around before the crystal empire vanished. We also know that cadence was not banished along with the crystal ponies because she babysat twilight. She was an alicorn as far back as we can see and we know they age differently; so we she could be way older than we thought. Is it possible that cadence is a crystal pony & that when king Sombra turned bad Cadence is the one that asked the princesses to save the crystal empire? The other theory on the changelings cohabitating in the crystal empire also makes sense because when queen chrysalis was posing as cadence for the royal wedding Cadence seemed to be the one that already knew the most about them. (also Celestia, because she knew queen chrysalis' name before she had to be introduced.)
I would make a lot of sense if the princess of "love" earned her alicorn status (by creating a new type of magic "love is magic") in a society where love is an integral part of existing: the light and love charges the crystal heart, and the love that the changelings use. But wait! is it possible that the princess worthy deed that cadence did to become an alicorn was put the crystal heart system in place? Think about it. If the empire previously used a different system of keeping the winter at bay and it failed, then an extraordinary young unicorn who had just realized that love is a magic strong enough to keep the winter at bay. She carved a large crystal into the symbol of love and instructed the panicking ponies that this would work and to be strong for the ponies that they cared about. They could already see how the power their love fed the changelings. Cadence performs a love spell on the crystal heart turning it into a vessel for the strength of love that that the ponies had for each other and the cold wind of the north are blasted back. Cadence floats into the sky be magic not her own and vanished into another realm where she meets celestia for the first time. She gets her wings and reappears in front of the crystal ponies as an alicorn (and perhaps earning her cutiemark at the same time). The ponies celebrate and declare this young pony Cadence is worthy of becoming their leader someday. This puts king sombra's position at risk. But, he has bigger things to worry about: the crystal heart system seems to be working well but Sombra sees a problem. The changelings apatite for love is now a problem because the empire now runs off of love. If the changlings grow in numbers or if their apatite increases it will put the empire at risk. There is only one thing to do banish the changelings. (If my theory is correct: the mere presence of Cadence is the reason the crystal empire fell and why the changelings turned bad. Although chrysalis didn't seem to be hold any particular grudge against sombra when grogar brought them all together, maybe because cadence had a more direct hand in their banishment.)
After all this it would make sense why no one bothers to mention her past, she didn't even tell twilight. Why would she? Its even worse than (more embarrassing) than starlight's past. Think about it; her becoming an alicorn the symbol of leadership caused sombra's corruption (though it may not have changed the outcome for the changelings). This is an example of Starswirl's alicorn creation system causing negative results. If she had not become an alicorn she would simply have become something of a hero to the people as spike did & even more important not a threat to Sombra's position (especially if he wasn't an alicorn. This could've lead to him seeking different means to appear more powerful to the people to solidify his position, via the alicorn amulet that corrupts anyone who wears it.

y`know, when i saw the episode when Christalis impersonated Cadence i actually knew something wasnt right.. i was focused on her horn and how the colors werent the same.

What if her mother was the unicorn who took the love potion and before the love potion wore off on her, she had Cadance, resulting in her having magical abilities with love, and due to the powers initially coming from the potion, those powers were enough to result in her cutie mark as that’s what she was the best at, as well as that power being most significant to her ‘present’ and future, ultimately making it her destiny to be crowned as such, due to the power to make others get along was more than likely sought after, making her an obvious choice for a queen.

Sorry for bothering any of you with this, but I really wanted to share my thoughts on this.

In all honesty, I feel connected to cadence in this aspect if the theory is true. Especially if "love spells" are seen as a stand-in for sexual abuse. At least in this context. I recently realized that the guy I used to date over a year ago actually raped me and groomed me. I can relate to that feeling of helplessness, the urge to take back control and power. I want to see the guy suffer or at least punished for what he did, but I know the justice system will allow him to walk free without consequences. The feeling of wanting to become the consequence is overwhelming and it takes a lot to focus on getting your life together again instead of taking revenge. It's very difficult. And if this theory is confirmed, it would make cadence a figure to look up to even more. A ray of hope for others in similar situations. A sign that says "you can do this".

And just to be clear, I am not saying that revenge is bad. I believe that it can truly help to heal victims and survivors of horrible crimes. I am just saying that it's important to try focusing on getting your life back together first and then going pro revenge on them. Unless you have faith in the justice system, of course.

Sorry for rambling. TLDR: Cadence as viewed through this theory makes her very relatable and strangely comforting to me. And it inspires me to work hard on getting my shit together again.

This is something i’ve always just wanted to know but was never actually solved

Putting aside the question of whether books and tweets--vague as they are--which contradict this have canonical weight, this theory has the problem that Cadance has visibly aged since she was Twilight's babysitter. She appeared to be a teenager back then, and now she looks like an adult; it's hard to pin down a precise apparent age for her at either time due to the limited variation in pony models and our lack of an actual reference point in terms of a pony of known age, but it's plausible that she's aging at the same rate as an ordinary non-alicorn and clear that she's at least been aging at some non-negligible rate. That strongly implies that she's not at all ancient and thus can't have been involved in any old legends.

And then, of course, there's the question of what connection, if any, exists between Princess Cadance and Princess Amore, the Crystal Princess from before the Crystal Empire disappeared . . .

Maybe cadence was the daughter of the two, which would explain her cutie mark, learning what actual love is, stopping the curse her father put on
Her mom and saving her kingdom, maybe she used a fake cutie mark when she was young, because she didn't know why her cutie mark wasn't there because she thought she knew everything about love... which explains why she did that to the couple cause she was taught that was love...

The woman and men could possibly be cadences parents which makes sense of why she has that ability. It would probably match up with cadences child that was born an alicorn, maybe cadence was born an alicorn as well. When cadence was little she maybe probably found out what her mother was going through and got hurt by that. But that still doesn’t add up to their kingdom falling but cadence could have been born before that even happening.
For me it makes sense for this and also yours but who knows maybe it’ll be a secret for a long time. We’ll see.

Hear me out, cadence is the child. The two were so affected by the potion that cadence got the potions magic. That might explain a few things

And when Celestia, and Luna defeated, and banished King Sombra without a kingdom and nowhere else to live that's when Celestia took Candace under her wing and to teach her how to use her love spells more carefully and for good! 💔

I have an idea.
Cadence's mom and dad could be the ponies in the story. They had a baby,which is Cadence,and when their kingdom fell,Celestia heard about the news,and went to the kingdom and found Cadence,and took her in. Maybe Cadence has her love magic,because of the potion,leaving an affect on her. But that's just what I think.

What if her spell works by solving the differences between those who are arguing and it doesn't actually have anything to do with that type of attraction or love at all?
It would still work the same way on everyone but not everyone would react the same way. Two arguing ponies who aren't in a relationship would stop fighting but they wouldn't fall in love with each other. Their differences would just be settled.
She's the princess of love but that's not just one form of love.

Here is another idea! It was her parents. Her mother was with the love poison which is what caused the Crystal empire to fall to Sombra. Then the two had a baby which was rescued by Celestia and given her wings since Celestia knew her parents were gone and the kingdom would one day return. Because the mother was under the influence of the love potion when Candence was conceived…. That’s why she has that magic.

I think the Alicorn from the book could be her mother since the picture of her looks older

I don't think so. I think it was her destiny to spread love as she is the "crystal princess". Her magic is linked to love just like her kingdom. I think it was to show that her destiny is linked to the Crystal Kingdom. It was a foreshadow that she is ment to spread love to keep a kingdom intact.

Cadance is the princess of the Crystal Empire and hearts and hooves as a holiday was around way before cadance was around.

Don't forget that princess amore was around and cadace has similar magic, love magic spefically to that of princess amore ( amore being french for love)

Also the two fighting were confirmed to be a married couple of the verge of a divorce before cadance helped them.

If could be that princess amore in her youth may have been affected by the love potion/poison. But that is directly debunked if you look at the comics since princess amore never forsaked her duties .


It could be that beucase the term princess is automatically seen as being an alicorn , that the artist who made the book didnt know that a regular unicorn could a princess and so drew them as an alicorn.

I kinda like the idea that those are her parents because that would make her more or less born of that magic. Heck, even if they’re her grandparents or great grandparents, so long as she’s a direct descendent of the Hearts and Hooves ponies, she’d still only exist because of the love poison.

There's actually a book called Twilight Sparkle and the Crystal Heart Spell that tells us the story of Princess Cadence's past. So the Hearts and Hooves day story couldn't be about Cadence. Also it explains that she didn't just come out of nowhere, but it doesn't explain how she became an alicorn.

I mean, I feel like she was the orphaned child of the Crystal Empire after something bad happened with the kingdom, and that she was then raised privately by some survivors before becoming an alicorn. And that then she met Celestia in Celestia’s realm and was taken back to be raised as her niece. I don’t remember where I got this theory but it makes much more sense than trying to connect two vastly different ideas. If anything, I would think Cadence’s mom had been the princess afflicted. (This is all just speculation though).

I think the couple was Cadence’s parents. The prince made the potion for her mother and the two of them got married and eventually had a child. But it didn’t take long for them to become so overrun with love, that they neglected their duties to the Crystal Empire and Sombra once again too control. Cadence definitely had to have been around for a while, because in season 4, after he was released Tirek knew about Cadence (but not twilight) so she must have been around when he was imprisoned.

Like if you think about it, we don’t have much backstory on the original ruler before him, and the crystal ponies call cadence the “crystal princess” when it seems they don’t know much about her…but what if she or an ancestor was the original ruler?

i noticed that Cadence was the only princess whose wings are purple at the tips (or have some color at the tips) and it makes me wonder if SHE was born an alicorn and that is the reason Flurry Heart was born with wings. maybe Cadence being a descendant of the prince & princess from the love day tale caused her to be born an alicorn thus she already knew what it was like to love but not in the way her cutie mark spoke and so she was born into alicornhood, like Flurry Heart being born already knowing how to love “ lightly “ like the crystal ponies do.

The stallion and mare in the book aren't related to Cadence. In fact, the mare having wings was an error, because later on in the episode, we see the same pair of ponies in the book but the mare only has a horn.

I think you're right. If the princess in the book is Cadence, she would have got distracted from her duty to protect the Crystal Empire, so King Sombra got the chance to take over it. As you said if Princess Celestia and Luna went to her rescue, I think that means by banishing Sombra to the frozen north just like Princess Celestia told Twilight about the Crystal Empire but "not before he was able to put a curse upon the empire that made it vanish into thin air", sound familiar as Celestia gave Twilight's test at season 3, episode 1? But I think there also might be the possibilty that the alicorn princess was Cadence's mom. Because Celestia is more than a thousand years old, but Cadence is more shorter than her, so it might be Cadence's mom. What do you think???

When you look at the hair of the princess from the book, its the same as when cadance had her hair tied up

I’ve been doing some research about who her parents were but I couldn’t find anything but, I heard that she was born a Pegasus in the zebra empire and and she was raised by Earth ponies, but when she turned into a alicorn, princess Celestia took her and that’s where she was crowned a princess

The most confusing thing of all of this is why Celestia refers to Cadance as her "adopted niece", not "adopted daughter". Does it have anything to do with a lost sibling of Celestia and Luna? Maybe that Cosmos character that was rejected from the 2017 movie was planned earlier on, and for some reason they never actually got to bringing him in.

I have a theory. It couldn't be cadence bc she was super young when that happened. If you meant "She was sent to babysit other foals families" she was a teen. Alot of teens don't date. At that age. Also sure they didn't specify the time, so Twilight was probably (idk) Teh first foal she babysat.

In that scene, I think it’s reasonable to assume she didn’t put any thought into the spell she cast, and did it to stop the arguing whilst baby twilight was present, it’s not to say that’s the only way she is the princess of love. She was just doing a quick job as a babysitter

I'm not sure if comics are considered official. But there are comics with Cadence's backstory! It goes into how cadence and shining armor fell in love. There's a rich snooty guy that likes her, she doesn't like him. They're all at some sort of dance, and shining armor and cadence kiss towards the end, with a heart forming above their horns! Just thought I'd bring that up.

If you actually think about it more the crystal empire fell into sambras control. So if it was cadence in the story then that would have been the emire to fall due to lack of work. Would also explain why their is a crystal heart on cutie mark since it was her empire in the first place

Or another theory, she's their daughter and she got her powers due to the potion's influence, then as a child she saw that the spell was broken and that her parents don't actually live each other so she was using her magic to make people, especially the ones she saw had "problems" fall in love because she assumed they would be happy then. Only later Celestia told her about the side effects of the potion and how their kingdom fell and taught Cadence about true love.

Cadance can't be the Princess from the Book.
In a Flashback in "A Canterlot Wedding Part 1", where Cadance was a Foalsitter, she was small an Twilight was a Foal smaller then the CMC (around 15 years before the Show), so Cadance is just a few Years older as Twilight (maybe she is 23-25 in the show, Twilight around 19).
Faust has say, she just planed to have Celestia and Luna as only Alicorns in the Show and Cadance was not planed as Alicorn.
Theres no Past of her, because Cadance is just an Side Character and the Creators of the Figure never have develop a BG for her (most of the Char was made after Faust has leave the Team).
I like your Videos, but maybe you should look more on Facts, instead of Speculations and the Facts say, theres not a detailed BG for every Char in the Show.
The Creators of the Show have left many Things unexplained, without an Answer.
So all is possible, until Hasbro decide to publish an official Book with complete Bios to all Figures.

I think that the old crystal empire princess was the one who had been in love and didn’t put her kingdom in order, that’s how sombra took over then led the two sisters turned him to shadow. Your theory is cool, but Cadence was born a pegasus turn alicorn compared to Twilight being a born unicorn. If anything, whenever drama happened that made Cadence the adopted niece to Celestia and Luna, that event would've gifted her alicorn status so people would know she is genuine royalty now.

Look at Cadences's hindlegs in the flash backs. They are shorter, I think she'll a teenager in that flashback. It only takes half a lifetime for an albacore to become fully grown, she must be younger than that.

I think that the theory between Cadance being the lost alicorn princess could be true, well, since, Celestia is Cadance’s adoptive aunt.

The two ponies were Cadance´s parents, and the "fallen" kingdom was the Crystal Empire. Cadance was probably the result of the love potion, and thats why she has similiar powers. "the kingdom falling" was possibly Sombra taking over, because the princess was too "busy" to do her royal duties. Its only my theory tho.

I have a theory on the Magic of Friendship: What if we don't have all the elements, there might be more to what we now, and I just looked a Twilight's cutiemark, like the big pink star has sig points, just like has it started with six elements. But there's still five other stars on her cutiemark, what if those are the five missing elements. Like Sunset Shimer and Starlight Glimer. Let me explain. When we meet Sunset Shimer, and she bullied Twilight for the two days she was there in the first movie. But at the end, Twilight still forgave Sunset and became her friend, so I think Sunset is the element of forgiveness. So Cadence had her Cutie Mark at the time she was shown as Twilight's foalsitter. Wild theory here, but I'm going to add on to your theory Sawtooth: What if Cadence was the Alicorn in the book and the Prince was none other than Sombra, and the kingdom that fell into ruin because of the spell was the Crystal Empire. AND that Sombra's rage and grief at the actions of Celestia, like you suggested Sawtooth, are the reason he turned to darkness, and thus is the reason the Crystal Empire disappeared in the first place.

Ok so i finally figured it out so cadence and the prince fell in love. The prince was the ruler of the crystal empire. This is how king sombra took over the crystal empire. Celestia and luna released the prince and cadence from the love spell and defeated sombra.

My theory;
Candence is the daughter of the ponies in the book, which is how she can do the spell. Her parents ruled over the crystal empire, but when king sombra attacked they sacrificed them selves so their daughter could escape. Their daughter (who was a toddler at this time) was found near the woods. The girl was an allicorn so she was taken to the royal Sisters. The sisters reconizied the girl and took her in. When the crystal empire was brought back candence (and shining armor who she had met while she was with the sisters) was sent back to fulfill her desting.

When you were talking about how similar the 2 seemed I thought you were going to say that Alicorn was her ancestor, if that were true then it would admittedly make more sense with the timeline, because Cadence is depicted at a young age in the flashback, so how does she suddenly go from Full grow mare to Young Foal if she was the victim if that spell? what if the prince from the love potion story was King Sombra since he and Cadance are connected to the Crystal Empire they might have been ruling it and that's how the Crystal Empire fell and then Celestia saves Cadance and Sombra saw that Celestia took away his love since in the story the prince loved the princess and then he went to get revenge and found a dark magic book which we could possibly connect to shadow pony but anyway he would get a fake horn made of dark magic which could explain why it looks different like it's fake and try to grow an army to attack Celestia.

Just like you think that Luster D isn't daughter of Starlight because Spyke doesn't even recognize her, twilight doesn't recognize Cadence in the story neither, plus she indeed looks younger when twilight was with her, what it could be possible (and that I'm not surprised it wasn't even mentioned xd) is that the kingdom that fell apart had to be ruled by the daughter of the two king and queen, and that's why cadence had the obligation/chance of being alicorn when she was younger, because she was already being prepared to rule the fallen kingdom that their parents left. Although I don't actually think the tale relates too much with cadence.

So my theory is that unicorn and pony was cadence's Parent's and as the result of the potion since it was so strong cadence was gifted with the power of love and cadence's Parent's where so inlove with each other they didn't do their royal duties,neither give cadence attention but only themselves. Cadence's soon took on the royale duties while her parents where so lovely dovely with each other. And from that Cadence's did do many things incorrect but she was trying and learned responsibly. But the kingdom was still falling,one of the ponys ran to the Princesses,Princess Chelesria and Princess luna for help and the Princesses banished Cadence's Parent's for letting tje kingdom fall and let their daughter do the duties (sorry if it dosen't make any sense) while they had fun,Cadence's was now assigned on baby-sitting the little Phillies from the school for gifted unicorns (sorry idk how to spell baby horses) while Chelestia and Luna ruled over the kingdom until cadence was old enough to rule again. (I'm sorry if my theory sounds alittle off i tried, and I haven't really watched my little pony for almost 2 year's,and sorry again for my bad English qwq)
