I love how the concept of this episode is that they needed someone to put Pinkie’s element to the test just like each of the other Mane 6 in this season, but how do you make someone a believable rival to freaking Pinkie Pie? How do you make a character who can outgoof the Element of Laughter herself? The only solution: make them Weird Al!!! The king of goofiness in the real world.
@@BaileeFerguson82 I kept hearing at conventions that the writers and other show staff wanted to write more stories for Diamond Tiara after that season, but the Hasbro execs just weren't interested. 😕
This episode..., ah man it’s awesome. Lol! I never expected to see guest stars in MLP, but having Weird Al starting this trend took me by surprise. This episode with its wacky shenanigans between Cheese and Pinkie, I just can’t get over these two here. And the songs, they are all great as well. Great reaction man!
As always, an excellent reaction to an extra fun episode!
Another bit of trivia -- Pinkie Pride originally aired back in 2014, two years earlier (in 2012) William Anderson (the composer of much of MLP background music) was hanging out with Weird Al and William posted a brief video segment where Al mentioned that he'd like to be on the show. You can see it here: https://youtu.be/771H5ob4atU
And speaking of pony related videos, are you planning to fit in any other fun "pony extras" as the season rolls on? I (for one) would love to see you react to the very first pony-thing ever ("Rescue at Midnight Castle") in the not too distant future! Gotta love the weirdness that the '80's cartoons could get away with. (Shoo be doo!)
I knew when you said you love Weird Al that you would be in for a good time with this episode. This is one of my favorites. It's a really entertaining ride through and throughout that still hasn't gotten old. Sometimes, they'll do a musical episode packed with songs. And when the songs all hit the mark like they do here, it makes a pretty special episode.
It is always a damn RIOT to watch a reactor when they first realize who's voicing Cheese.
Fantastic how the story just keeps jerking us around emotionally. The delight of "ZOMG WEIRD AL" runs headlong into "ZOMG PINKIE SAD NO," and then Pinkie's heartbreaking song suddenly turns around into the most joyous ditty we've gotten since Smile.
13:42 We've already had inexplicable references to Clint Eastwood's Man with No Name--so why not toss in an inexplicable reference to "3:10 to Yuma"?
Been waiting for this one. My fave episode of all time. Partly cause of Wierd Al being in it, but also Pinkie is my fave pony and I just loved her in this episode.
This for me is the best Pinkie episode and is what made Amy Keating Rogers my fav writer of the show, well, next to Meghan McCarthy and Larson. I was so sad when she left the show, even though it was understandable.
I'd qualify these types of episodes as the 'musical' episodes, where about half of it the episode is song, often starting and ending (Or close to ending) with songs.
Another way to tell if it’s a musical episode is if Daniel Ingram composed the score instead of William Anderson. You see, Ingram normally only worked on the songs, but for every musical episode of the series (as well as the theatrical movie) he composed all the music.
Rainbow’s cake had 21 candles (which supports the idea that the Mane 6 are early 20s). But there might be candles on the other side of the cake that we can’t see (when she blows out the candles she’s going round the back of the cake where we can’t see)
Well it’s confirmed that they’re young adults. I’m pretty sure that the candles go all around (it would be weird to put candles only one side of a cake), but they are in fact adults.
Weird Al did not write any of the songs in this episode, but The Super Duper Party Pony is exactly his type of song. Also, the guy who made the music score for this series (at least to this point) used to be in his band
That’s true because the score composer of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic himself, William Anderson used to be in Weird Al’s band back in 1985 in The Stupid Tour before he started composing music for commercials, film, TV, gaming and theater, but mostly composing music for animation, in the early ‘90s and he also scored and produced the music of The Weird Al Show back in 1997.
17:48 "I'm sorry I got all swept away by Cheese Sandwich." "We all are." Forget Flash Sentry. Cheese Sandwich was the ultimate waifu stealer all along.
I really liked this episode, but I liked weird Al as Cheese better in season 9's the last laugh because in this episode Cheese is encroaching on Pinkies territory and he's kind of an asshole to her as a result in the last laugh they're starting to fall in love with each other they are married by the last episode and have a child together.
Here's the direct translation of the Spanish portion of the song: Give it, give it, give it, don't lose your mind, because if you lose it, you lose your way
I came back to watch your reaction to this episode. It is one of my top 10 episodes of the entire series, and I need to consult my list, but I think I put it 5th or 6th. It and the season 5 episode Slice of Life, which you have already reacted to, are both at those two slots and switch depending on my mood. As for Weird Al Yankovic, he is a self confessed brony and asked if he could make a guest appearance on the show. He is not going to be the last famous person you encounter on here in a guest role.
20:09 Rainbow: "Enough with the warm fuzzy stuff, you two." PonyBro: "What? I like warm and fuzzy, Rainbow." That would explain your infatuation with so many of these mares. ;D

I mean, even the hair style is the same :J 09:55 I wonder if it was intentional that this song sounds so similar to "A True, True Friend". 11:22 Note to myself: make yourself a hall of pictures that will remind you about all your successes and achievements, in case you forgot about being awesome :J Actually, everyone should have such a hall. 12:17 I don't know, to me it sounded like a skidding car :D 16:42 Yup, and it's not just some random Spanish, the lyrics seem to be relevant here. In English, it goes pretty much like this: "Go on, go on, go on, Don't lose your goal, Because if you lose it, You'll lose the entire way." Quite ironic, considering what was Pinkie's original goal in this episode: to make Rainbow Dash happy with her birthday party. 20:30 And that's why people should join their forces more often instead of competing :J They could be much stronger together. 21:03 Pony dance party :) Call me weird, but I like this short song the most :J OK that's it for this episode. I'll thumb-up your video after someone messes up that perfect score ;J
And dude, at this point, embrace bronydom. You are clearly a brony at this point. Also, I've actually seen pics of dudes in the army with patches of Rainbow Dash's cutie mark on their camos
He's a hilarious comedian and musician who got noticed by doing parodies of very famous songs that were always on the radio (Madonna, Queen, even stuff as recent as Lady Gaga)
