I could totally picture a scenario where Nightmare Moon did manage to get her hooves on the time spell and used it to do whatever it was she was going to do, in fact as long as she had the spell Nightmare Moon could've become both the ruler of Equestria and the ruler of time itself as well.

Yea, I can totally agree with you that EVENTUALLY, Nightmare moon will discover time travel in any other way after Twilight told her how she defeated her with the elements of harmony,heck she even may actually be the ruler of time it self right now.

I don't think it would be all that easy for her to do to be honest. First use of the elements was on discord before Luna became nightmare moon. Preventing the elements being found would turn the timeline into a discord timeline, which nightmare moon would return to. She'd have to defeat Discord, but it's likely he would overpower her or rip her dark magic away. And then there's also a Celestia she'd have to defeat and possibly a Luna as well. That's at least two very powerful enemies she'd have to face, possibly three. And if Luna and Celestia are both in the present she returns to, they would possibly still be connected to the elements. Not the physical gems, but the qualities. Both of them together fully realized the elements and were able to use them in the original timeline. And it's also been shown that the magic of friendship does not rely on the physical gems. Considering all those possibilities, I doubt that she would be able to easily achieve her goal
@Sawtooth Waves i think you missed a thing, can Starlight travel in time without the map? She used the map the first time it did, and Twilight as well everytime
@Narsan that's a really good question that i didn't have time to go into. you're right, we do have reason to believe the map is only there when twilight was, since applejack was surprised to see the map in an area she knew well. but it's not clear if starlight actually needed the map to change the past. The way she described it in her speech is that the role of the map was to drag twilight along with her: "But figuring out I could use the map to go to any time or place /and/ pull you along with me? I even impressed myself with that." and then referring to the scroll: "Touching it triggered the map to whisk you here..." Of course Nightmare Moon wouldn't need that feature. Later Starlight says the map is connected to all of equestria, and brings twilight to her old home, indicating the map may have played a role in the "where" of the spell as well. But nightmare moon didn't need that either. Her destination was in the same place, just in the past. So the map was necessary for starlight's exact plan to show twilight a world without her friends, but for nightmare moon's general "change the past" plan, the edited time travel spell would have been enough.
@Sawtooth Waves except that Starlight KNEW when and where her target would be. Why would she need to teleport there via the map if she knows where she's going and when. She can just teleport back in time, same place, and move to where she needs to be. It maybe extra but it shows that the map isn't nessasary for getting to the location at all. Plus we know she can teleport (but I can't remember if she could at this time).
@Cameo Shadowness all starlight is explicit about is the maps role in pulling twilight along. if starlight was able to teleport at the time, perhaps using the map for that as well was just a matter of convenience and practicality. the map does the teleporting for her so she wouldn't have to teleport herself and twilight back and forth from ponyville to cloudsdale each time.

With the way time travel is presented in MLP, it would require a brand new and possibly very complicated spell to rule over multiple time lines. Each jump back to the past causes a brand new branch and the only way back is to undo the original changes. You could possibly go back and forth between a few timelines by doing the exact same change in the past that you did before, but even the smallest mistake could cause a brand new branch and your old branch to be much harder to access.
A new spell that skips time travel entirely would be required, and unless Nightmare Moon frees the pillars from limbo, I don't see her being able to make a spell like that.
Honestly, I don't think Nightmare Moon could force Starlight into creating an alteration of the time travel spell, not without giving her all the means to overthrow her. Follow me on this one: Starlight is one of the most, if not THE MOST, talented unicorns in Equestria and Nightmare Moon needs her knowing how to alterate the spell in order to actually cast it. This would translate into a Starlight with all the knowledge to take care of Nightmare Moon by herself, either by casting her away or by equalizing her, and force all of Equestria under her rule of equality. And, if Starlight actually didn't turn on Nightmare Moon on that occasion, she could've just tweaked the spell in order to trap her in another universe all together, or even cause her to revert into princess Luna.
This could be yet ANOTHER timeline split where in one she overthrows nightmare moon and in another nmm succeeds. Similar to the discord vs nmm scenario
Third timeline: Because Starlight knows what she's doing, she finishes the spell and then instead of handing it over uses it herself to go back and prevent cutiemarks from the very beginning.
@Edward256 it is an interesting idea, but it would be hard for her to come up with a plan like that. She'd need to know what causes a cutie mark to appear and not even Twilight knows how that work
@Samuele Zichella Well, maybe she already does: When a pony realizes and embraces their talent, Cutie Mark! How else did she get hers if not through a triumphantly executed spell. So, I think her first step would be to keep Sunburst from doing what he did. Then, like at the CMC camp, talk all the kids into doing nothing. And if a CM appears, all she needs to do is cast the CM-Removal spell.
@Edward256 That would be too much even for her: there's no way she'd be able to prevent everyone to achieve their talent and, by proxy, their cutie marks forever. Beside, we saw in Troubleshoes' case that it's not required for a pony to embrace or even be aware of their talent to get a cutie mark. In order to wipe the cutie marks completely off Equestria, she'd need to get rid of all magic all together (which we know she wouldn't do, given how she values magic) and, even in that case, we know from the G5 movie that ponies still have a cutie mark, even of it's only on one flank
What if Luna made a deal with Starlight and Starlight joined Lunas rule? Not as a huge ruler but maybe convincing her to be some sort of police officer or someone to inforce her rules?

While Starlight might have the brains to think of a way to entrap Nightmare Moon, I don't know if has the resolve. The thing about tyrants is that they are both suspicious and cruel, and we know Nightmare Moon to be manipulative. She'd want to be certain Starlight does not betray her. So she'll find leverage over her, and it's trivially easy for her to discover what Starlight values, if she knew Rainbow Dash wanted to be a Wonderbolt already on the same night she was released. Her unresolved issues with Sunburst would mean Nightmare Moon can threaten his life if Starlight betrays her. Easier yet, her father is another pony Nightmare Moon can use as a hostage. Even equalist Starlight doesn't strike me as willing to sacrifice them in a bid to cheat Nightmare Moon. That is assuming she needs to use such brutal methods to gain Starlight's cooperation. Rarity and Rainbow Dash seemed genuinely loyal to Nightmare Moon despite her overthrowing a beloved ruler and ruling with an iron hoof. Whatever she does to ensure the loyalty of ponies who opposed her in the regular timeline, she might be able to trick Starlight just as easily.
@cdcdrr i see your point. Nightmare Moon could also pull a Sombra on Starlight in order to submit her. In the end, it'll all come down to wit and knowledge about each other's powers, abilities and ways of thinking, on top of how they use their powers. There are lots of ways they could counter each other: nightmare manipulation, a spell that prevents from falling asleep, mind control, inventive mind. The list just goes on until one of them has the last laugh.
@Samuele Zichella yeah there might be a whole war between them. Sure starlight doesn't have as much power as NMM but her village was loyal to her and she could do that to others as well and she is very powerful. Not even twilight could beat her and that's a big deal

I love these multiverse theories, they’re so interesting and anything could happen. Starlight starting a cult in jail, then spreading it throughout the land, is something I want to hear more about lmao
allow me to add a happy ending: After destroying the Elements of Harmony, Nightmare Moon finds a young pony to train as her successor because being an evil queen actually has a lot of boring tasks and she has no interest in doing that. This scholarly pegasus named Moonlight Dazzle (this can be anyone, my OC is just a placeholder), quickly realizes that ponies are starving because their crops need sun. Bargaining with Nightmare Moon she is allowed to enchant the moon with Celestia's trapped magic to release the sun's necessary nutrients so that crops may grow. Moonlight Dazzle begins to have higher and higher power, as Nightmare Moon begins to grow more psychopathic from the dark magic corrupting her; and less enjoys doing all the paperwork. Eventually, Nightmare Moon vanishes altogether and Moonlight Dazzle inherits the crown as the next highest in power. At the coronation, the support from all the ponies transforms Moonlight into a true princess much to her shock, and gains the ability to enchant the moon to replace the sun altogether, although it will never be as bright or as efficient as the sun.

Considering how easy it is for characters can move between G1 and G4 it's possible for nightmare moon to conquer both equestria and ponyland and just go between the two here and there. She'll have to deal with the inhabitants of paradise estate. The ponies are pretty easy considering how powerful nightmare moon is, Danny's skills with strategy and traps require him to be aware of the threat coming (he doesn't keep traps up all the time after all), Megan's strategies use either team work or trying to plead to the good side of their enemy, nightmare moon would probably take the rainbow of light and either destroy it or turn it back back into the rainbow of darkness meaning nightmare moon has more power, nightmare moon would probably destroy the princess wands. The good thing thanks to nightmare moon likely to not destroy Megan, Danny, and Molly or through them in a jail cell, well she would probably take them to her Palace and they would definitely be watched at all times considering how much trouble could cause. So they would technically still be imprisoned. Well Megan might end up in a cell for a week or something if Megan tried to do the talking plan on nightmare moon Wich would probably anger nightmare moon (especially if Megan reminds her of Celestia). Also knowing Danny he'll say something dumb sooner or later. Heh molly is probably going to be the only one not to get introuble. Also this means nightmare moon would be their legal guardian Wich makes sense considering Megan is the oldest and she's twelve. Also I just realized what happens to the CMC and cozy in this timeline!?!
Very rare to see a comment about G1, it's almost never talked about. I would have to disagree about your statement concerning the Rainbow of Light and the Rainbow of Darkness. In the G1 pilot Rescue at Midnight Castle the Rainbow of Light and Darkness are seen as two separate entities, though it is implied that they are of the same essence since both have "rainbow" in their name. It's like balance between light and darkness. If darkness were to blot out light then there would be no darkness, and if light were to shine out darkness then there would be no light. One cannot exist without the other.
@Wooden Lock the rainbow of light littarly absorbs the rainbow of darkness and turns it into the rest of the rainbow of light. If that's possible then it's logical that someone could do the reverse and turn the rainbow of light into the rainbow of darkness (and if anyone can do it then it's likely to be nightmare moon.).
@Luna Kingsley. But why were they separate to begin with? Were they once one whole being but then split apart for the sake of balance as is with the Sun and the Moon at Celestia and Luna's command? These are questions left unanswered by canon rule due to the fact that it simply wasn't explained back in the day. My question is, if you're implying that one force is set out to completely eradicate the other, then why does that other force even exist at all?
Most of this makes an overwhelming bit of sense to me, however something is missing...how did nightmare moon know who the pony who had changed the spelled was? After all, in her point of view she could've looked for another twilight for or even thought it was her did it. Twilight does say it was someone else who changed it though. Nightmare moon may think she's lieing or something else entirely. She could've also posibly time traveled with her own magic. I do doubt she wouldn't be aware and the possiblity of not coming back to her own timeline a (if i recall corectly) twilight states that the pony(starlight) who messed with the spell created alterante time lines. @Undertaker9711 Yes however there are many differences between those two spells. It also would've taken quite some time. Nightmaremoon is is not one who lies time wait. This was shown when she asks twilight to take her to the spell. (It could be said that it was just because she needed to see the spell and/or i'd be a natural reaction)
The thing that I feel pokes the biggest hole in this. To make this spell work. The Table is needed. Which Nightmare moon can never. It is implied it is needed to make the spell work the way it does. Because it's not just a table. It's the Elements of Harmony in Table form.

What if instead it was used because the target was twilight herself. Maybe it just requires something with a good amount of magic or doesn't need one at all.

Also may i bring up the fact the Ever-free forest is not being it's normal crazy. As shown she deals with it all. Who's to say she could do it herself. Whether easy or hard I believe it could be done. (Those archives/libaries also probably hold the research needed to make more spellls, aside from starswirl's)
I think that maybe when Starlight convinced the bullys to stop because "they can all be equal" could lead to a timeline where she rules. It would just be so interesting to see a Starlight Glimmer timeline, and if it started from that point the mane 6 wouldn't have a choice but to accept it and be equal aswell.
What if that final "present", the barren waste land that Twilight dragged her back to, what if THAT was the "Evil Starlight Glimmer's future"? Think about it, everybody has an 'equal' cutie mark... including all of the Pegasi, and the Princesses, meaning nobody has the innate magic to maintain the balance of nature, which seems to be extremely dependent upon Pony participation. Sun and moon moving at will through the sky, uncontrolled weather, and all gardeners and farmers are as 'equal' in ability as all of the non-gardeners and non-farmers. Just saying...
Interesting theory as always, though after thinking about this for a bit, I'd come as far to say that Nightmare Moon couldn't go back to destroy the elements of harmony... Before Nightmare Moon, Celestia and Luna had to defeat Discord and if a future Nightmare Moon went to the past to destroy the elements, she would come back to a world ruled by Discord...

Sweet Twilight, this is brilliant. That all said, I'm once again mentioning the impact of day/night, seasons and weather: under an eternal right, can the crops, trees, etc survive? It's complicated since these elements of ecosystem aren't working the same way as in our world. The day/night and seasons shifts are caused by the position of earth compared to the sun...
Also if jailed Starlight started gaining influence and ruling after Nightmare Moon's departure, I wouldn't be surprised if she worked on a way to get the sun back and move the sun and moon, without standing out since she's talking about equality.
Also my mind wandered around and imagined Starlight taking Celestia's cutie mark and putting it on her butt, which is kind of like a cutie pox??? Remember the cutie pox, Apple Bloom having several cutie marks...

Hey, Sawtooth, what happened to original starlight in these timelines. She always seemed to stay in the past so there must be an old starlight along side a version that was born in the new timeline.
How would two Starlights fair against Nightmare Moon? The older one would be stronger than when she fought twilight, because she has had even more time to study. Plus the younger would also be stronger than the normal timeline, because the older her could teach her from a young age.
Who knows how strong the sovereign nation of "our town" is now.
Yeah, I also thought about that too, Just Because Starlight is always in the past doesnt mean she didnt alter the timeline, She said that whenever someone uses her spell, She gets traveled along with it, So theres a pretty high chance that there are multiple Starlights that met Twilight in the Timelines, Also a hidden timeline where Starlight accomplishes her work without the first interference by Twilight
@Joy Skaggs I count "our town" as the name of the country. In real life, the worlds' smallest country is actually called "Vatican city" city is part of the name and it is not that much larger than "our town". It is less than square.2 miles for the entire country or just 109 acres.

I was just saying that I think Starlight might rename the area she’s take over to “Our Nation.” The town she had control over was just one town, so she would call it just “Our Town,” but I think when there’s multiple towns she controls, she’d rename it “Our State” and when she controls multiple states, she’d call it “Our Nation.” But I suppose if she wanted, she could just leave the name as “Our Town” for sake of clarity.

I don't think Starlight would alter it properly. She didn't have a reason to do so. She is dumb but not that dumb. She would know that Nightmare Moon would imprison her- but the issue is, we know Nightmare Moon is super willing to kill.
Interesting theory! Just wanna know, in your older videos you mentioned that Luna couldn't walk in dreams before the six defeated her. So I think she must've found another way to find the one who altered the spell

Maybe you should make a video on what the other ponies that we didn't see are doing on each timeline (like, we don't get to see Twilight in any of them, we don't get to see Pinkie in the Nightmare Moon timeline or Rainbow Dash in the Chrysalis timeline or Cadence and Shining in any of them, etc.). It's fun to imagine and theorize about all these possibilities, but I'm glad the show itself didn't go down that rabbit hole. I don't think I would have been able to keep up.
I had never thought that Nightmare Moon had herself wanted to time travel.
I had alway's thought that she had wanted the time travel spell but altered so that way it no longer did time travel but would open a door/portal into essentially time itself.
Since she couldn't destroy the Element's she would then toss the all of the Element's through and close the door/portal
She'd then destroy the spell and then kill the one who altered the spell.
With that done the Element's would be lost to time with less then 1% of ever being recoverd.
In our timeline, Nightmare Moon got released by the stars or something. So... Would Celestia get released eventfully too? Would a cult form to help Celestia beat Nightmare Moon?
"I will insure that the elements of harmony are never found" She doesn't just go back and destroy them while Celestia has them. She makes sure no one finds them. Not even herself and Celestia when they battle Discord...
Starlight Glimmer would definitely double cross Nightmare Moon. She would pull an Aku, altering the spell so that Nightmare Moon would be trapped in the future where Starlight herself, in Nightmare Moon's absence, rose to power to become the supreme leader of Ponies Republic of Equestria or something.

I would like to think that after altering the spell and destroying the elements, Nightmare Moon returned to her timeline. It would be altered, not a new timeline.
Things in the would happen differently, but it would still be Nightmare Moon’s home timeline.
(that’s how time travel works in my stories, and it’s less messy and keeps things together)
One of the possibilities that came to me when I first watched this particular episode was that when Twilight used the spell to escape the Nightmare Moon timeline, Nightmare Moon could have attempted to interfere and end up going back with Twilight. You have Starlight Glimmer come face to face with Nightmare Moon to make her realize that she had royally screwed up rather than seeing the world being destroyed by her actions, and then they have to deal with Nightmare Moon in a timeline that already has a Luna.
I really like how twilight said that every dimension is worse than the last one, and the last one we see before a literal dead planet is flim and flams.

Hi, I'd like to talk again about my comment on the video about the forgotten timeline, the original timeline going on without the time travelers. I wondered, if the travelers ended up in a timeline that isn't theirs, tho identical, where are their alter egos from this timeline? And then I realized they traveled in time too. That means from here, the timesplit turned into a timeloop that creates timesplits. Because these Starlight, Twilight and Spike from this new timeline that is identical to the original but isn't, also created a Chrysalis timeline, a Nightmare Moon timeline, a Discord timeline (etc) and a timeline that is identical to theirs but isn't. And in this timeline too their alter egos traveled in time and created these timelines... So from here there's an infinity of timelines created, of each outcome we saw in the series. But there still is only one original timeline missing the time travelers... And then I was dizzy thinking about it.
But more recently I thought of a solution to abort this chaos. I think likely that great minds and sorcerers as Starlight, Twilight, Starswirl and Sunburst would come to talk about such a big thing and spot the problem, and organize an expedition through the timelines to do so the time travelers go back to their own timeline after the final travel. Their travel would then apply in a timeloop where the otherwise abandoned timeline was actually never abandoned, and.... Nevermind, I thought it more while writing and I see it actually doesn't solve the infinite loop of splits. But hey, it's a good start! OR ELSE The expedition could do so the last travel actually leads to the original timeline, to create a loop where the travelers were actually always here at the rainboom in the original timeline, and the new timeline that is identical but is a separate one is not created, so there is no other timeline where Starlight, Twilight and Spike traveled in time. There, time travel mess solved! I really hope you see this very too long comment, Sawtooth.

Finding Starlight in a series of equal dreams would work, assuming that these ponies still dreamed. Starlight's spell could eventually erase the dreams, just having the ponies sleep a dreamless sleep. Or after so much monotony the brain does not have to dream to process the day. On the other side of the scale, while their outward personalities are locked, they may still dream like any other pony; the one time they are free to be themselves. But you are hoping that the repeated propaganda messages permeate their dreams, in which if you step in there you will constantly hear the repeated mantra, over and over and over.
Also, Starlight is a smart one, she could use the spell against Nightmare Moon, or at the very least for her own gain (cutiemarkless society).
I just like thinking that in the Nightmare Moon timeline there would be an alternate route where all of the villains had to make an alliance to take down Nightmare Moon forcing them into the roles of the mane six, I mean the villains are actually capable of becoming friends and could somehow fill the slots for the elements of harmony just not in the ways the mane six did.

I just thought of something... what if changelings turn into ladybugs in the human world? Around a year ago you made a video talking about how the portal works. You were also trying to figure out what other creatures would turn into after heading into the human world and it got me thinking... it has happened twice now (once with Queen Chrysalis and another with Ocellus) that after a changeling has transformed into a pony, they got ladybug cutie marks. I mean it's a possibility that my theory is true right?? If you're interested maybe make a video on this? :D
Two possible problems with this. First of all, we have a pretty good idea how long Starlight has been doing her village thing, because it was Maud that told her about the rock she put all the cutie marks in, and I think it was implied to be after the start of the show, specifically after Maud's first appearance, although I'm going to have to watch it again so it might go either way. Secondly, I don't think Starlight's time travel spell works without the Cutie Map, as it appeared in each altered timeline, so without that it may not be possible to time travel like that.
So if we follow by the timeline altering concept of this, Twilight only saw the altered timelines because she activated the spell and was sucked into the past, hence sent her to the respective futures, including creating the new timeline where she just disappears and left everyone behind. Imagine if they're in their original timeline, they just watch Starlight goes into time travelling, they are still in the timeline where the rainboom has never been stopped. Thanks for sharing another interesting video with us, Sawtooth! ^_^ I wonder if alt Starlight and Nightmare Moon would use the Tree of Harmony to boost the time travel spell. The map wouldn't exist in the NM-verse, so that's out of the equation. We also don't know if the Elements were ever returned to the Tree or if Nightmare Moon took them (except for Magic since that one needed to be summoned). The plunderseeds would've complicated things as well if they'd become active.
It’s said in the book that luna and Celestia didn’t get there cutie marks until after the cornation starswirl helped them learn new spells because starswirl could travel back in time celestia and Luna could’ve learned this too

@ChristinewhoYT The sun and moon are not the issue here. In "Bridle Gossip", it is said that plants grow by themselves in the Everfree forest, but the sun still rises and sets there. This doesn't seem to be the case outside of Everfree. In Ponyville and any part of Equestria that is not part of the forest, plants require Earth Pony magic to grow.
I've never been one who liked multi-verse time-travel theories. The questions posed here are part of the reason. It indicates that you essentially "create" a new universe with each jump through time.
I'd be less opposed to a "die until you win" scenario, wherein every timeline that results in more time travel is essentially doomed, a temporary temporal construct that ceases to exist once time-travel happens to alter the past. This conserves energy at least and, in theory, works in like with the concept of the immortal soul. The people are the same, but the stage and play they are a part of is different.
Now I'm imagining what would have happened if Nightmare Moon had followed Twilight through the spell into Cloudsdale. Starlight would definitely would be surprised at the very least. Either way, that would lead to a lot of shenanigans.
If she did this, should would also have to deal with all the timelines where another villain rules due to the elements of harmony not being there; either leading her to having a change of heart about her sister, or to becoming a hero in the hearts of any who questioned her - as she would undoubtedly tell her kingdom what lengths she went through to rule

Starlight could also write the new spell with a small tweak made to it, rather than send her to the point of time she needs it would send her to the end of time.
The problem I see with this theory is the fact that Starlight's remaster of Starswirl's spell required the Cutie Map, which would not exist in this timeline because the castle would not, as Twilight would never use the chest to defeat Tirek.
I have a time travel question for you that just came to me…what impact if any would these alternate timelines have on the six pillars? I mean if everything exists in them as it does in ours that means they are still in limbo with the darkness that consumed Stygian and the artifacts that were used to bring them back surely still exist as well
I am also curious how Flim and Flam came to power and what or who brought about that final apocalypse that finally converted Starlight
Ohhh!! I think maybe somehow a new alicorn is created in the timeline that nightmare moon left behind. Assuming that princess cadence is still alive she would probably teach the new alicorn like celestia did for twilight. But if not then I think the new alicorn may be seen as a threat because they would be so similar to nightmare moon. I can guess that this “new alicorn” would have a power similar to celestia and Luna’s, this way people would be less scared and more inclined to follow the new alicorn. I think it’s a long shot but I like wondering what could’ve happened
6:37 I actually like to believe we did see what happened in a timeline where Starlight got her way, I like to the think the final timeline we saw in the time travel episode was a reality where she took control, and made everyone "equal", as shown in the episode where she takes everyone's cutiemark, it shows that these ponies can't properly do their special talent (as Sugerbelle, a great baker, has her food reduced to disgusting muffins), so if everypony lost their special talent, jobs would become empty, food would very likely go sparse, land would most likely become dead, and I bet after a while under those circumstances, all that resulted in a dead Equestria...
I think we all know the result is ultimately an epic teamup of all the various Doctor Whooveses as they unravel all the wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff.
I think that the last, wasteland timeline, was Starlight's success. Without the special talents of ponies, the economy and environment would fall apart.
What do you think about the mystery timeline that Starlight made? Was it all villains one by one? Was it the Everfree Forest, which seeds Discord planted? Was it Starlights success? Was it something else? If it was one of them, how would the others look like? I would love a video about that in the future.
A pretty good video indeed, but I think Nightmare Moon would just have to deal with all those challenges by herself, which could cause great pauses in her "time travelling magic project".
My favourite villain starswirl had a time travel spell when teaching luna and celestia when they were younger they noticed how time travel made starswirl older if luna did this she would’ve been older or other stuff happening
Watching this video, I think I know what villain created the last timeline. Starlight. If she had succeeded and spread her cult all over equestria, then nopony could have their talents. Every pony would have been powerless to stop her. Plus, without their talents, pegasi couldn’t tend to the weather and earth ponies couldn’t tend to the soil or crops.
It seems weird to me that the mane 6 had such different personalities in the other timelines since they did still have their same cutie marks this the same destiny.

I have a little sort of theory kind of you know how the the 2 sisters have wavy hair and so does mist Maine! well when the princess's give there magic to twilight there mains stop flowing (the end of season 4) So there is a definite reason to why they have flowing mains but i think its a combo of magic power ,connection to your destiny/ elements and a display of beauty but only all three combined creates a flowing Maine twilight doesn't have enough magic power and cadence no connection to the elements sort of similar to the way alicorn's come to be! just a little theory...…..
So you remember that one dream good Starlight had? The one with evil Celestia and Nightmare Moon? What if after Celestia got freed in some way, that evil version of her like in the dream happened? Like season 1 all over again.
Since she’s starlight, I think she would use the opportunity to trick Nightmare Moon into giving her the spell and using it to turn into some strange alternate reality where everyone is equal and it might even turn into the desolate reality we see at the end.
One problem is that the time line she returns to would probably have another nightmare moon. Because when Starlight first changed the past with Twilight there we saw what would have happened to Twilight's exam to get into Celestia's school. This also happened when Starlight showed Twilight her past, so maybe in each present there is another version of the pony that returned from the altered past.
I think a thing that was forgotten about when making this theory was the rather massive Table brought with the Time spell. First question there. Why did the table come with? What I think is it's a needed component to go back in time long enough to change the past in any meaningful way like what she did. It's what is used to find friendship trouble across basically the entire world after all.
And if not. Why did the table come with? Is it not a bit strange how when everything else needed to be pulled in like Twilight the table that is built into the castle came with to? The table is also seen to still be online and working in these new worlds so it's not just an big lump of Crystal that came with but still the Elements of Harmony in table form.
If Twilight had never mentioned the cult leader by name or even description in relation to the modified time travel spell, I can see no reason for Nightmare Moon to believe that Starlight would have any ability to modify said spell according to her wishes. Even if she did locate the cult through dreams as you posit, it is a ridiculous leap in logic to go from "this pony can magically remove cutie marks" to "this pony can fundamentally alter the nature of a time travel spell that she had never known existed before this point". This especially, considering that the most important artifact that allowed her to make these modifications, the cutie map, never existed naturally in the timeline in question.
I have another theory concerning starlight I noticed a few alicorns and unicorns have very similar names, Twilight sparkle, Starlight Glimmer and Sunset Shimmer. Their names all have something to do with a time of day and a kind of shine. I thought it might be something to do with interest and involvement with time travel and alternate timelines and universes. So Hasbro showed their similarities through their names :)
Another theory: Like you said, the elements of harmony are a spark of friendship. So it's possible that even in her time-line someone could find it. Well, by saying "I'll make sure the elements are never found" maybe she plans on using time travel in case someone's friendship create the elements and so she can reset the event and make sure they (whoever they are) don't become friends!
Starlight already used her magic on the princesses cutie marks before, who's to say she wouldn't have removed Nightmare Moon's rather than making the spell for her? Equalizing her would strip her of the dark moon magic she had, turning her back into Princess Luna. Evil Starlight could have defeated Nightmare Moon all on her own, and that timeline would have to deal with a Princess Starlight, who would equalize all her subjects. She wouldn't have to wait for Nightmare Moon to leave to take her cult global. Luna would be so remorseful for what she'd done as Nightmare Moon, that she would bend to Starlight's rule. We've seen how Luna would punish herself for her actions as Nightmare Moon before, like when she created a monster to haunt her dreams every night. She would be weak enough at that point, that she would see anything Starlight does as the good thing, because she was evil and Starlight had defeated her and good always conquers evil, right? Luna would just let Starlight rule, especially since without her Cutie Mark magic, she probably couldn't release Celestia from the Moon anymore. Luna wouldn't think she deserved to be in charge, and would literally hand over the kingdom to Starlight without any fight.
I think we are forgeting on crucial thing: the map. The spell is tied to the map. No map, no spell, no map in Nightmare Moon's realm, no need to force Starlight. Yeah Starlight could have altered the spell, but that may not have been possible. Besides, Starlight wouldn't have bowed down to Nightmare and Nightmare couldn't threaten to kill her without losing the possibility of time travel, so all in all I think it is unlikely.
I was just listening to 'in our town' and a question popped up in my mind, because of an OC of mine.
Saying, before Twilight and the others went to the village. What would Starlight do if a pony would be born there? Or come there before getting a cutie mark? You can't take something that isn't there yet, can you? Or would she just take it, when they get a cutie mark? And for the born ones, do they get born with the Equality mark as cutie mark?
I have another theory. It was stated that the Pony of Shadows is the same darkness that turned Luna into Nightmare Moon. Remember in the episode "Castle Mane-ia", they talk about the Pony of Shadows, and it's said that the Pony of Shadows is the lingering power of Nightmare Moon that dwells in the old castle. But going by what we learn of the Pony of Shadows later, the Pony of Shadows came around before Nightmare Moon, meaning that Luna was infected by the Pony of Shadows's lingering power, not the other way around. Perhaps creating Nightmare Moon was the Pony of Shadows's attempt to create an ally to free him from limbo, or maybe he was seeking his queen through her (imagine them as an evil power couple). Perhaps Nightmare Moon wanted the time travel spell to actually so she could prevent the Pony of Shadows's imprisonment, enabling them to rule side by side.

The elements of harmony are very strong artifacts, I think destroying them would have unforeseen consequences for the timeline that Nightmare Moon returned to, in the exact same way as when Starlight stopped the rainboom. Still a really fun theory tho
I can easily see Starlight converting a prison population into her cult. The very first thing you can point out is that without cutiemarks, the royal sisters wouldn't even have the power to utterly dominate the population. Sure one was good, but look at how quickly she lost, do you really want Equestria's happiness to be determined by the most powerful beings staying good? Luna didn't, and her sister's kindness made it so she could come back as a threat. If everyone was truly equal however...
See, this is why time travel is something no one should ever make attempts at whatsoever. Any small change can shatter time into billions of fragments; its best we keep moving forward on our timeline as we should.
I will be honest, I think you got her plan a little wrong: the elements of harmony needed to be found or else Discord would have never been defeated, erasing her rise to power. If anything, I think she merely intends to send the elements to another point in time to prevent them from being found.
Hello sawtooth I loved the video it was a little hectic to understand but i did later on. But i also came to ask a question for a new video, after watching you're MLP: A new generation videos I asked myself how do new generation ponies get there cutie marks if there's was no magic. I guess it can be something natural that happens to ponies as they grow Iike are voice and how it changes, so ponies as they find there special skill or talent soon or later it will for on there flanks but with no magical moment like we see with the ponies in the past. It was a stormy night, and Nightmare Moon sat on her throne, viewing everything she had done. "Ah, to come into full power and stop anyone from blocking my path, I need to get my hooves on the time travel spell." She spent day after day researching, but still no answer. All of a sudden, the sky lit up with a purplish glow, and Twilight Sparkle, ruler of Equestria No. 1 stepped infront of Moon's throne.
"What brings you here," Snapped Moon, " coming to give me the time travel spell, perhaps? "
Twilight felt a wave of rage surround her. "Never, Nightmare! I don't know why you think someone so powerful, like you could get away with-" She paused, looking for something else to say. "What do you want to do with the spell, anyway?" She questioned.
"Why, to destroy the elements of harmony and secure my reign, of course!" Moon answered.
Twilight had to think fast and used the time travel spell her friend Starlight Glimmer had altered to escape.
"Did it go well?" Questioned Glimmer, curious to see how well Twilight had done.
" Ehhh, Uhhh, It went well. Moon didn't manage to get the spell. " She replied.
Meanwhile, in the Equestria that Nightmare Moon ruled, the Starlight Glimmer of that universe was imprisoned and tortured into altering the time travel spell until Moon could use it.
"How's it going, Starlight? Very well, perhaps?"
Starlight couldn't speak, she just nodded and handed over the time travel spell.
Nightmare moon realised she could now be not just the ruler of her Equestria, but all of the alternate ones as well.
"Thank you, Starlight! I can finally go back to before the elements were hidden and destroy them, then secure my reign and rule over the multiverse! HAHAHAHA!"
The multiverse was now desperate to see Celestia return, they prayed and prayed, but still, she didn't come. Until one day, after 1000 years of constant praying, the sky became blinding and out of the sun came a white alicorn with hair of pink, green and blue. Everyone in Equestria were escatic. "Celestia! O great ruler, please rid Nightmare Moon, she's put the multiverse in ruins!" Said Lyra Heartstrings.
Celestia stood silent, until she spoke. "I'll do what I can" She said, in a calm and reassuring voice. She defeated athe evrsion of Nightmare Moon that caused all of this, then creating clones of herself to destroy the rest.
Pinkie Pie was a bit confused. "What are we gonna do with all these Lunas? Will it be the same deal as my clones, keep the real one and send the rest into the Mirror Pond?" She asked Celestia.
Celestia was surprised by such a good idea. "Well, I guess we'll do that!"
With Equestria ruled by Celestia once again, the world slowly pieced itself back together, and soon enough, everything was back to normal.

When Starlight destroyed Chrysalis' lair, and when all the other changelings reformed, when Chrysalis hisses, Thorax is shown to use magic, or atleast ignite it. Thorax's horns were glowing, in conclusion: Cozy glow is wrong.
I feel like Ive thought of an idea if Nightmare Moon did leave and go to use the spell. If she did starlight would still be in prision, but knowing how good she is with magic her time spent in there could let her think of a spell to get out of prision. Once that was done I feel like she would send her time studying changlings hoping to make a spell to make her transform into Nightmare Moon and rule over Equestria. This probbaly wouldn't happen but I wanted to say anyway.
honestly with the possibilities of alternative timeline creating more timelines with time travel, its possible any alternative universe can possibly happen anything from fallout Equestria, portal ponies, the whole sweety bot thing, or any number of fan parodies I can't think of right now and more.
Another good theory is maybe after nightmare moon destroyed the elements in her new timeline she wasnt even able to rule because maybe she did it before discord was turned to stone, so she probably just ended up getting overthown by him

Well, i actually think that due to lack of elements N. Moon of the past raised to power, and either killed Celestia or turned her to Daybreaker. 1). Since there is no elements and no Celestia, our Twilight would probably never meet her friends, since there is no Day festival etc. Everything stay like in N.Moon timeline until... 2). Everything goes on as it should. Well, except without night. But that's another story. Everything stays like in our timeline until...
Until discord is fled out of stone. Well, you see, the only way discord could be stopped was using emeralds of Harmony, since there is no Harmony, chaos rises to it's full potential.
What is the difference between a queen and a empress. Because shouldn’t nightmare moon be a queen not a empress because when she was Luna she was known as princess Luna so when she is nightmare moon shouldn’t she be known as the queen of the night not the empress of the night 🤔.

I don't consider her as a villain because I saw a reddit and basically they described that Nightmare Moon didn't just took over equestria but simply just replaced Celestia and basically got rid off day and night cycle and just replaced with eternal night and not even that she could be a way better ruler then Celestia because she might have tooken care of the present villans like Chrysalis and her hive and trek but for Discord not sure of him but I think she might have casted a spell on him to keep him in his stone form for longer and she also might have taken care of sombra on her own as we know who powerful she is (even then Celestia) she is able to make her own army and won't allow anyone to get in close contact otherwise she will zap them with her thunder ability not even that none of the pony seem to be afraid of her at all like you can see it and I don't think no pony will go hungry because Luna might have find a way to fix that problem and before people start saying about daybreaker she literally just brag about herself while Nightmare Moon is focusing on her main objective and Chrysalis revulsion I don't think Chrysalis won't win as I just described that how powerful Nightmare Moon is she is able to make her own army and being powerful then Celestia and seeing Chrysalis as Celestia I don't think Chrysalis won't even have the chance to strike just for Nightmare Moon to banish her to the moon with Celestia or maybe have no mercy and kill her at the spot
I just don't understand that why every character in mlp just overreact when they see her, I may be wrong but I know she had intentions to hurt her sister but at the end you could see how greatly she is running the kingdom
I don't think Nightmare Moon would have the option to force Starlight to realter the time-travel spell. The Elements of Harmony surely aren't the only sort of threat NMM would want to proactively destroy, and a powerful unicorn with a cult of devoted followers would certainly constitute a potential threat. Realistically, that timeline's Starlight is already dead.
Something i still don’t get is why the elements ofb harmony didn’t restore by the power of the mane sixes friendship with sombra like they did with nightmare moon, maybe there is more hidden beneath that difference….
Even if Nightmare moon successfully destroyed the elements of harmony and continues her reign of night, her fate in due time their will reach to her and her reign will end because of her fate to always be defeated by the main six. But even though the elements do not exist in her timeline, there could always be another alternative route if Celestia is ever free from the moon or somehow another group or a resistances who disapproves with Nightmare moons reign and may go against her which could defeat Nightmare moon, but it may be possible for Nightmare moon to succeed if she destroyed the original elements of harmony which will also destroy all the other timelines that could have the elements of harmony not exist.
That is my thoughts if fate ever returns or not, but who knows.
How do you find these idea's they are incredible. One idea though, for some reason there is a strong feeling that starlight might have given nightmare moon an incorrect spell that might banish her. Possibly starlight taking the charge as the new ruler by force. Starlight is way to smart and living in a small town afar from the main effects on equestria. She has no reason to believe and fear nightmare moon. Nightmare moon just simply came to her took her. But I don't know this is so crazy!
alright but as you brought up starlight glimmer altering the spell for nightmare moon i got an another timeline idea in my brain where nightmare moon takes starlight under her wing and creates some kind of dark mane 6 of sorts. perhaps we can throw in the old element of disharmony headcanons and nightmare moon has herself some folks who's darkness can combat the light of the elements of harmony- most likely winning due to the absence of that world's mane 6 being friends due to the whole lack of rainboom thing.
Please make a theory about Sunny Starscout's father. I really need another perspective about him. He is so mysterious and I'm have a feel he or his ancestors have something to do with the Twilight's theory and what happened to her. Please 🥺
The problem is, none of the alternate worlds have the cutie map, the core component of the time travel spell. It would still be locked in the six-keyed chest that doesn’t exist because the tree died without the elements being placed back by twilight and her friends.
I know Sawtooth has gone at length about alternate timelines, but what about alternate worlds or brand new ones entirely? All this multi verse talk makes me think about D&D and what would result if it were to cross with MLP.
I really don't think Nightmare Moon meant she would 'destroy' the elements. With the power of time travel, why not go back and make sure they never existed in the first place?
The whole thing at 2:47 had me laughing XD K, but Twilight never mentioned one thing: it was Starlight who altered the spell How would Nightmare know that she could make the spell? Sure, she could find Starlight either way, but Starlight probably went out and personally studied Twilight (she did) and time travel, maybe other things as well. Without the events to push her to seek the knowledge I don't think Nightmare's Starlight would have the knowledge to alter Starswirl's spell. That or scenarios that other commenters point out could play out (The ones where Starlight would try and overthrow Nightmare or she'd search for Twilight herself) Then again, she could have this knowledge already. We only saw her as a filly, she might have studied all that stuff in her pony 'teenaged' years before the cult, WHO KNOWS!!
Just a random thought -- if nightmare moon successfully made it night forever, how did they survive? Most, if not all plants need sunlight, And ponies are vegetarian. So if there isn't any food, how have they survived? And if they have food somehow, how did they do it?
I think like nightmare moon was released on the thousand year of her banishment I think celestia should get a second chance as well in attempt to destroy her enemy.
4:08 And how could she know Starlight is the pony she need? Twilight didn't mention her once during her time with Nightmare Moon, the only pony she know was altering time was Twilight. Also, why would Nightmare Moon need her? Because Starlight was the one to modified the spell doesn't mean another unicorn or a alicorn couldn't do the same thing. Luna, and by extension her corrupted version, know as much about magic than Celestia. It's likely the alternate timelines stopped to exist as soon as Starlight reversed her spell.
I have a couple of questions for the new gen 1. What happened to the Equestria girls world? or did they just continue on normally but with new character 2. What happened to all the villains (Chrysalis, Tirek and Cozy Glow) and maybe more that we don't know about 3. What happened to all the other creatures in equestria? Like the Hippogriffs, the yaks, the dragons, they are never seen there 4. What happened to the alicorns if only Twilight gave hers up?
Or maybe the new gen is a whole seperate universe and the mane 6 tale is really just a fairy tale to them that just so happened in another universe
Actually I'm now realising that it's possible that the destroyed reality was the merger of all the others when they time travelled to keep their rule...
Taking references from real life, chances are in the timelines where the citizens are being ruled through dictatorship, they will rebel and create a revolution themselves - no outside influences needed. There are a few possiblities:
1) They believe the dictator isn't fit to rule as they have seen Celestia's rule and much prefer that, therefore will rebel to get her back onto the throne 2) Some time has passed and the citizens are tired of being surpressed 3) The new generation of citizens decid it is finally time to fight back to stop the mistreatment
I believe in every possible timeline that has a "villain" ruling, with or without magic, everyone will try and fight back (eventually) until the "villain" is defeated, they lose hope or until to last citizen falls. Be it, Nightmare Moon, Chrysalis or even Tirek
I have a theory. Remember Day breakers origin from about a year ago? After maybe some time, Celestia would turn the world to the good side. Let's assume that Celestia knew about Luna's dream walking powers. If so, she'd be jealous that she doesn't have that power. Starlight would probably already be dead, but lets assume she's alive, old, and powerful. Ruling Equestria with the equal sign cutie marks. Just like Luna, she might kidnap Starlight and get her that power. But Starlight can't change one's destiny, leaving Celestia, angry. So, she transforms into Day breaker. She'd remove Starlight, and maybe try to remove Chrisilys. (The changeling queen, not sure how to spell her name, I'll just call her queen.) So there could be 2 timelines. 1 where day breaker rules Equestria. Some ponies may try to fight her, but without a leader, useless. But what if Queen wins? I'd think she would remove all most living creatures. She doesn't need that many for love. Only keep the weak ones and destroy the rest. Well, what about Throax? There's no way he'd try to spark rebellions. There is no way he'd pull a Sawtooth and live in Ponyville. Honestly, it just all depends. But who would win in a fight between Day breaker or Queen? I think Queen, she has all of her changelings. Who does she have? But, of course, maybe Celestia wouldn't get jealous, or maybe Starlight COULD change destines. But what do you think?
in the new movie of my little pony, at the end, I saw a alicorn that looked like luna but evil and there was a foal, maybe its hers and they where born with wings and sunny is different, the crystal was glitchy. she said she will take is rightfully hers and I think what's power, the crystal.

But one thing in the new generation magic was gone so unless nightmare moon had a succesor that timeline is pretty much forgotten and doesn't exist- wait how would she get a succesor opening a school i guess but like what if she's just teaching science and then just an explosion wipes the entire school out? She would probably teach that and here's an example:

Where was Nightmare Moon in the Sombra Timeline. Applejack said " even with Princess Celestia leading the battle ..." So it may be that Nightmare was trying to conquer Equestria from the shadows, Celestia was fighting 2 battles { Though Applejack did not mention that} or she was banished to the moon again. She was also not present in the other timelines. Like you said she may have not been released or may have been overthrown. but then what about the timelines in which she was released.
READ This is life-changing: Discord was young at the time that the princesses were young. He played with them. When they were called to duty as princesses he got bored and lonely that his best friends were too busy for him so he decided to cause mischief there was discord getting defeated by the elements and comes to the timeline we know. If The Elements we’re destroyed, Nightmare Moon would no longer be in power. Remember she and her sister defeated and locked away all threats to Equestrian. Tirek, Discord, Chrysalis, Storm King, etc. With the elements no more, they could easily wage a war leaving Equestrian as a wasteland, the same wasteland Twilight showed Starlight.
I think she was successful in one of the timeline we saw. Think about that last one we saw I think that was the successful starlight time line everything was gone without special talents that is what would happen

Starlight glimmer never made all theses timelines, she made one parallel timeline. Twilight went to different times in one timeline. Think about it if she went to all different timelines wouldn’t the villains we’ve seen be fighting each other? But if it’s different points in one timeline it makes sense. Think about it as discord, Sombra, nightmare moon, chrysalis, Tyrick, wasteland. It makes more since that twilight went to different points then her just abandoning timelines. But just my theory
I have a theory about Starlight, and that's the theory that Starlight Could end up being an Alicorn much like Twilight did in Season 3 Episode 13. What evidence do I have? well:
- Much like Twilight, Starlight is a student/pupil for a princess - Much like Twilight, Starlight is sent to Ponyville to make her own friends, but is hesitant at first - Much like Twilight, Starlight as altered and "completed" a Starswirl spell.
If given enough time and training, Starlight could end up being the next Alicorn princess that takes over Twilight's role after she leaves, much like with what happened with Luna & Celestia, maybe taking over for both Cadence and Twilight as the Princess of both Friendship and Love, though Flurry might just take over for princess of love instead. And much like Starlight's Mentor and her friends before her, Starlight, Trixie, and all her other friends might form their own "Submane" 6 that does things for Twilight and to protect Equestria.
Nightmare Moon wouldn't even need Starlight Glimmer. The knowledge that such a spell is possible is enough. It does make "dream police" an interesting issue though. Although there is only ONE NMM. She can't police EVERY pony's dreams. It is just too much.
I have an alternate alternate timeline. NMM isn't all about brute force, she can be very cunning and patient. After all, if she's secured her timelines version of the time travel spell, she can then manipulate events to bring Starlight and the scroll together at, pardon the pun, a time of her own choosing. She could use the dreamscape to exploit Starlight's own fragile mental state, and NMM did use reward as well as punishment.
Starlight may be obsessed with cutie marks, but she is also curious about other magic, almost as much as Twilight. In this timeline, NMM bribes Starlight and plays to her ego just a little, securing her in the archives and challenging her gradually, building up to the reveal of the time scroll and how to alter it. To hedge her bets, she might give Starlight dreams about both the benefits of supporting NMM and the consequences of failing. NMM could even make it look like she's helping Starlight, by 'ending' the initial nightmare of horrible consequences and appearing as a sort of savior. NMM could also combine this with sleep deprivation, and maybe even implanted code words or inhibitions that mean Starlight can't use the power on NMM, but rather becomes yet another weapon NMM can use to make examples of anyone opposing her. Sure, random executions until morale improves is fine, but seeing some formerly energetic activist have their cutie mark removed and then have to make do in everyday life? That'll get ponies to think twice. Especially if you make a stage spectacle of it...

Maybe in this timeline, Starlight saves the day, what if she copied the spell herself and used it to stop Nightmare, or even worse, went back to brainwash Nightmare into the cult. What if all that time alone brought DayBreaker back once the spell ended. I could just picture her release looking like the moon set ablaze
If your theory is correct, nightmare moon would’ve had to be careful to only destroy the elements after discord was imprisoned- if destroying them wouldn’t free him anyways. But if that were the case, she’d be more prepared to take him on than if he was released by time like in the original timeline- and if destroying the elements didn’t free discord, she’d probably either destroy the statue or put it somewhere she knew he couldn’t get out, like Tartarus or something- Idk 🤷🏻♀️

But wait, it WAS the Elements that stopped Discord, so if she destroys them, is that before or after Discord's defeat? Since also it was Celestia being so revered by the other ponies and neglected Luna's night that turned her into Nightmare Moon. Still so many theories on this theory.
If she did destroy the Elements of Harmony, that would open the door to Discord's escape, as now there's nothing preventing his stone prison from breaking.

I'm not sure Starlight's story WOULD have unfurled as usual in Nightmare Moon's timeline. Iirc, Starburst was sent to Celestia's school, which doesn't exist in Nightmare Moon's timeline. He also then goes to the Crystal Empire to live, which probably doesn't exist either. I mean, I suppose it's possible he just gets sent to another school. What would happen to him if he flunked out of Nightmare Moon's school? I can't imagine that would end well for him! Maybe you can do a video on what that would end up like. Could it make him evil? Yeah... Luna has Nightmare moon, Celestia has Daybreaker, Twilight has midnight sparkle, and cadence has- nothing? Well maybe she DOES have one. It's just not shown on screen. You know there are way more alternate realities than the one that starlight created. But, if she does have a dark side, it's probably something like Anti-love because she's the princess of love. Good question though, i would have never wondered.
Actually, Nightmare Moon didn't try what Sombra did. And that was attack the Tree of Harmony itself. That's how Sombra succeeded where Nightmare Moon failed.
But aside from that, this theory is done in a way that I don't really have an argument against. Starlight would have nothing against Twilight in those other timelines. But in the Nightmare Moon timeline, she probably would have something against Nighmare Moon. But she wouldn't have known about the spell, which is why I don't think Nightmare Moon would take notice of Starlight. But if Starlight herself had left the village for the sake of finding a way to stop Nightmare Moon, perhaps she would find the spell, and in tern, a way to stop Nightmare Moon. As Starlight is working on altering the spell, Nightmare Moon then spots the related dream. But I don't think that Starlight would be so willing to help Nightmare Moon. She may have modified the spell in a different way. Instead of a time travel spell perhaps Starlight modified it into a spell that would remove the user from time itself.
Now here's a theory to go along with this. REgardless of whether the spell removed Nightmare Moon from time, or was just designed to ensure that Nightmare Moon cannot return to that timeline, perhaps the next "big bad" to take over is Starlight herself. But she's unable to sustain the world on her own, especially if she removes the cutie marks from everyone so that the ponies cannot sustain the world either. Everything would then die out and become a baron wasteland. In other words, the timeline that Twilgiht pulled Starlight into to see. That would mean that the Wasteland timeline exists in the same timeline as the Nightmare Moon timeline. And it would also mean that the Wasteland timeline would be the direct result of Starlight's actions, even if it's an alternate timeline version of her. In other words, Starlight's success would end up being the worst case scenario. Although, that could mean that the Wasteland timeline could also be called the "Equelstria Timeline".
Perhaps Starlight could have a chance to shine in some alternate timeline. But this could mean that Starlight is prevented by fate from succeeding.

In my school vr game there was a mission where you play as nightmare moon and try to stop the character shattered glass torch talon from inturpting goalius omniversal info gaining anyway in the game you chase after sg TT in the time stream and then it changed to a fight against sg shade torch talons father anyway during the fight arrows rain down but it would stop and goalius showed up back from the dead after sg shade had a big misunderstanding and killed goalius but now this would ultimately ended badly seens they were attacked by nightmare waterjet ( Goalius nightmare magic pulled a nightmare rarity) and ultimately sg shade would be hurt and sg torch talon would of killed nightmare moon but ultimately goalius blasted her in the neck decapitating her by a make shift disk launcher which it's ammo provents invulnerability and regeneration and it would ultimately ended with nightmare waterjet escaped with a weapon called the titans deverstator a massive railgun that destroys buildings but it has a problem on both mass-produced and prototype feed off both solar and lunar power and it needs 5 hours to charge for a max out clip and it holds 10 shots so 2 per hour but to use it you need a machine called a tremmortusk a massive mammoth that's basically a walking fortress

Alternate Universe Theory states that there are Infinite Alternate Universes, so, it doesn't end, there's a different one for every choice u make, and time travel just alters those choices, it can be as small as making past u choose Ice cream instead of cake, or as big as destroying any and all threats, so you could live forever, and be a tyrant...(There's also doppelgangers, so yeah)

I don't know about what would happen if Nightmare Moon preventing Twilight Sparkle and her friends from finding the Elements since I think that some of them like Rainbow Dash are not really deserve them
There is a reason the map had to sent the main 6 to that village despite Luna being able to dreamwalk. Nightmare moon would have been searching for a needle in a haystack. And when accounting for the fact that Starlight was filled with rage when crafting the spell, that Starlight's emotions dictate the strength of her magic and that the table was needed to even cast the spell in the first place, nightmare moon was out of luck the moment Twilight escaped.
We have no reason to believe that the table continued to function after Twilight left. In fact, Nightmare moon probably wouldn't have even bothered to safe the tree of harmony from the plunder seeds. There would have been no conduit available for her that she could use to cast the spell. Oh, and lets not forget that Nightmare moon already knew where the tree of harmony is. Friendship isn't exactly going to repaid the elements without the tree of harmony to repair them. Otherwise they would have been fixed the moment Sombra got blasted.
i think dream was meant in a metaphorical sense, not literal. though if starlight was smart enough she might block dreams to keep luna/nightmare moon from finding them.
@Sawtooth Waves No, I'm pretty sure it was literal. I'm pretty sure that Starlights spell straight up blocks the ability to have dreams. That is pretty much the only possible explanation as to why Luna wasn't aware of the village. At least the only explanation that doesn't result in plotholes.
@Rendom Stranger we're not exactly sure how the dreamworld is layed out or how luna interacts with it. it's possible the dreams of the villagers are something you wouldn't see unless you were looking for it. you could be right though, i just dont think it's conclusive.
Just for a random reason in the time line where Nightmare Moon is the ruler of Equestrian and since it was always nighttime wouldn’t that make it the dark ages 🤔
What made luna become Nightmare moon because she couldn't dream walk so in this she could not have found starlight through dream walking so this might not work

hm. what about luna? before she got banished into the moon and even turn into nightmare moon, once (i think in season 4 twilight's kingdom thing) when twilight drank the postion given by zecora, which can only be used by alicorns who tured it from pink to white, we saw luna and celestia turning discord to stone, at that point luna looked different with flowy mane from her original form for when she got freed from nightmare moon. think about it

If that did all happen nightmare Moon did go back in time and destroyed the elements wouldn't it changed her own future Celestia and Luna first used elements to trap discord if she destroyed them before then wouldn't discord still be in power or something else would have happened?
I think even your model of timelines is a bit off, a bit too linear. "People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to affect, but actually, from a non-linear, non-subjective point of view it is more like a big ball of wibbily wobbly timey wimey...stuff."
If Nightmare Moon went back in time to destroy the elements, it's possible she would've ruled equestria for much longer than seen in the show. If the elements didn't exist when she first became Nightmare Moon, she may have defeated Celestia. What would happen then? Would Celestia be released after 1000 years? Would other villains be able to take over? Maybe there would be a huge civil war in Equestria!

I don’t think that chrysalis would impersonate nightmare moon since she feeds on love and every one fears nightmare moon. So if she did impersonate Celestia then she could integrate the whole changeling population into equestria and replace beloved figures and everyday ponies. The only obstacle in her way is that she can’t raise the sun since she’s not Celestia. Then she could rule for decades until Celestia can get back to Equestria but even then the amount of love she would have fed on for so long would allow her to be victorious.

The only way to go at the past is the time sphere if you go at the year portals you change the present , the future year portal will finish all 31 december and you go only in the past not the future bc you need Bruno to see the future.

You just assume Nightmare Moon could take on communist Starlight Glimmer and her town of brainwashed zombies. Starlight was convinced to change her ways by acts of friendship, kindness and forgiveness from Twilight. All attempted force was swiftly countered. Now you could argue that Nightmare Moon is individually more powerful than Twilight and so could also easily overpower Starlight. If this were true It still begs the question; would she really be cooperative even in her defeat knowing there will be no forgiveness, friendship or compassion for doing so? I am of the opinion Starlight would rather die than help an enemy who she would most certainly feel a raging anger and vengeance towards. The dictator doesn't just become the dictated without a real fight or a good deal where she could gain something. Maybe I give Starlight too much credit but I have a feeling a master in manipulation like herself would rightly be very skeptical of any promises or offers Nightmare Moon could make. Admittedly full conjecture mode, but using your theory with alternate conclusions it could even be possible that Starlight dethrones Nightmare moon or another force rises up in the midst of the chaos. The possibilities are endless.

I'm writing about how the Nightmare Moon timeline came to be. Like what happened after she left. I didn't have any ideas until I saw this video, but I also wanted to tell you about it to make you know that I'm not copywriting you.

I don't think it would be all that easy for her to do to be honest. First use of the elements was on discord before Luna became nightmare moon. Preventing the elements being found would turn the timeline into a discord timeline, which nightmare moon would return to. She'd have to defeat Discord, but it's likely he would overpower her or rip her dark magic away. And then there's also a Celestia she'd have to defeat and possibly a Luna as well. That's at least two very powerful enemies she'd have to face, possibly three.
3 likesAnd if Luna and Celestia are both in the present she returns to, they would possibly still be connected to the elements. Not the physical gems, but the qualities. Both of them together fully realized the elements and were able to use them in the original timeline. And it's also been shown that the magic of friendship does not rely on the physical gems. Considering all those possibilities, I doubt that she would be able to easily achieve her goal

5 likes@Narsan that's a really good question that i didn't have time to go into. you're right, we do have reason to believe the map is only there when twilight was, since applejack was surprised to see the map in an area she knew well. but it's not clear if starlight actually needed the map to change the past. The way she described it in her speech is that the role of the map was to drag twilight along with her: "But figuring out I could use the map to go to any time or place /and/ pull you along with me? I even impressed myself with that." and then referring to the scroll: "Touching it triggered the map to whisk you here..." Of course Nightmare Moon wouldn't need that feature. Later Starlight says the map is connected to all of equestria, and brings twilight to her old home, indicating the map may have played a role in the "where" of the spell as well. But nightmare moon didn't need that either. Her destination was in the same place, just in the past. So the map was necessary for starlight's exact plan to show twilight a world without her friends, but for nightmare moon's general "change the past" plan, the edited time travel spell would have been enough.

She can just teleport back in time, same place, and move to where she needs to be. It maybe extra but it shows that the map isn't nessasary for getting to the location at all. Plus we know she can teleport (but I can't remember if she could at this time).
6 likes@Cameo Shadowness all starlight is explicit about is the maps role in pulling twilight along. if starlight was able to teleport at the time, perhaps using the map for that as well was just a matter of convenience and practicality. the map does the teleporting for her so she wouldn't have to teleport herself and twilight back and forth from ponyville to cloudsdale each time.

0 likesWith the way time travel is presented in MLP, it would require a brand new and possibly very complicated spell to rule over multiple time lines. Each jump back to the past causes a brand new branch and the only way back is to undo the original changes. You could possibly go back and forth between a few timelines by doing the exact same change in the past that you did before, but even the smallest mistake could cause a brand new branch and your old branch to be much harder to access.

0 likesHonestly, I don't think Nightmare Moon could force Starlight into creating an alteration of the time travel spell, not without giving her all the means to overthrow her. Follow me on this one: Starlight is one of the most, if not THE MOST, talented unicorns in Equestria and Nightmare Moon needs her knowing how to alterate the spell in order to actually cast it. This would translate into a Starlight with all the knowledge to take care of Nightmare Moon by herself, either by casting her away or by equalizing her, and force all of Equestria under her rule of equality. And, if Starlight actually didn't turn on Nightmare Moon on that occasion, she could've just tweaked the spell in order to trap her in another universe all together, or even cause her to revert into princess Luna.

Beside, we saw in Troubleshoes' case that it's not required for a pony to embrace or even be aware of their talent to get a cutie mark. In order to wipe the cutie marks completely off Equestria, she'd need to get rid of all magic all together (which we know she wouldn't do, given how she values magic) and, even in that case, we know from the G5 movie that ponies still have a cutie mark, even of it's only on one flank

The thing about tyrants is that they are both suspicious and cruel, and we know Nightmare Moon to be manipulative. She'd want to be certain Starlight does not betray her. So she'll find leverage over her, and it's trivially easy for her to discover what Starlight values, if she knew Rainbow Dash wanted to be a Wonderbolt already on the same night she was released. Her unresolved issues with Sunburst would mean Nightmare Moon can threaten his life if Starlight betrays her. Easier yet, her father is another pony Nightmare Moon can use as a hostage. Even equalist Starlight doesn't strike me as willing to sacrifice them in a bid to cheat Nightmare Moon.

Rarity and Rainbow Dash seemed genuinely loyal to Nightmare Moon despite her overthrowing a beloved ruler and ruling with an iron hoof. Whatever she does to ensure the loyalty of ponies who opposed her in the regular timeline, she might be able to trick Starlight just as easily.
@cdcdrr i see your point. Nightmare Moon could also pull a Sombra on Starlight in order to submit her. In the end, it'll all come down to wit and knowledge about each other's powers, abilities and ways of thinking, on top of how they use their powers. There are lots of ways they could counter each other: nightmare manipulation, a spell that prevents from falling asleep, mind control, inventive mind. The list just goes on until one of them has the last laugh.

19 likesAfter destroying the Elements of Harmony, Nightmare Moon finds a young pony to train as her successor because being an evil queen actually has a lot of boring tasks and she has no interest in doing that. This scholarly pegasus named Moonlight Dazzle (this can be anyone, my OC is just a placeholder), quickly realizes that ponies are starving because their crops need sun. Bargaining with Nightmare Moon she is allowed to enchant the moon with Celestia's trapped magic to release the sun's necessary nutrients so that crops may grow. Moonlight Dazzle begins to have higher and higher power, as Nightmare Moon begins to grow more psychopathic from the dark magic corrupting her; and less enjoys doing all the paperwork. Eventually, Nightmare Moon vanishes altogether and Moonlight Dazzle inherits the crown as the next highest in power. At the coronation, the support from all the ponies transforms Moonlight into a true princess much to her shock, and gains the ability to enchant the moon to replace the sun altogether, although it will never be as bright or as efficient as the sun.

2 likesConsidering how easy it is for characters can move between G1 and G4 it's possible for nightmare moon to conquer both equestria and ponyland and just go between the two here and there. She'll have to deal with the inhabitants of paradise estate. The ponies are pretty easy considering how powerful nightmare moon is, Danny's skills with strategy and traps require him to be aware of the threat coming (he doesn't keep traps up all the time after all), Megan's strategies use either team work or trying to plead to the good side of their enemy, nightmare moon would probably take the rainbow of light and either destroy it or turn it back back into the rainbow of darkness meaning nightmare moon has more power, nightmare moon would probably destroy the princess wands. The good thing thanks to nightmare moon likely to not destroy Megan, Danny, and Molly or through them in a jail cell, well she would probably take them to her Palace and they would definitely be watched at all times considering how much trouble could cause. So they would technically still be imprisoned. Well Megan might end up in a cell for a week or something if Megan tried to do the talking plan on nightmare moon Wich would probably anger nightmare moon (especially if Megan reminds her of Celestia). Also knowing Danny he'll say something dumb sooner or later. Heh molly is probably going to be the only one not to get introuble. Also this means nightmare moon would be their legal guardian Wich makes sense considering Megan is the oldest and she's twelve. Also I just realized what happens to the CMC and cozy in this timeline!?!

1 likeI would have to disagree about your statement concerning the Rainbow of Light and the Rainbow of Darkness. In the G1 pilot Rescue at Midnight Castle the Rainbow of Light and Darkness are seen as two separate entities, though it is implied that they are of the same essence since both have "rainbow" in their name.
It's like balance between light and darkness. If darkness were to blot out light then there would be no darkness, and if light were to shine out darkness then there would be no light. One cannot exist without the other.
@Wooden Lock the rainbow of light littarly absorbs the rainbow of darkness and turns it into the rest of the rainbow of light. If that's possible then it's logical that someone could do the reverse and turn the rainbow of light into the rainbow of darkness (and if anyone can do it then it's likely to be nightmare moon.).

After all, in her point of view she could've looked for another twilight for or even thought it was her did it. Twilight does say it was someone else who changed it though. Nightmare moon may think she's lieing or something else entirely. She could've also posibly time traveled with her own magic. I do doubt she wouldn't be aware and the possiblity of not coming back to her own timeline a (if i recall corectly) twilight states that the pony(starlight) who messed with the spell created alterante time lines. What if that final "present", the barren waste land that Twilight dragged her back to, what if THAT was the "Evil Starlight Glimmer's future"? Think about it, everybody has an 'equal' cutie mark... including all of the Pegasi, and the Princesses, meaning nobody has the innate magic to maintain the balance of nature, which seems to be extremely dependent upon Pony participation. Sun and moon moving at will through the sky, uncontrolled weather, and all gardeners and farmers are as 'equal' in ability as all of the non-gardeners and non-farmers.

I was just saying that I think Starlight might rename the area she’s take over to “Our Nation.” The town she had control over was just one town, so she would call it just “Our Town,” but I think when there’s multiple towns she controls, she’d rename it “Our State” and when she controls multiple states, she’d call it “Our Nation.”
But I suppose if she wanted, she could just leave the name as “Our Town” for sake of clarity.

5 likesI had alway's thought that she had wanted the time travel spell but altered so that way it no longer did time travel but would open a door/portal into essentially time itself.
Since she couldn't destroy the Element's she would then toss the all of the Element's through and close the door/portal
She'd then destroy the spell and then kill the one who altered the spell.
With that done the Element's would be lost to time with less then 1% of ever being recoverd.
In our timeline, Nightmare Moon got released by the stars or something. So... Would Celestia get released eventfully too? Would a cult form to help Celestia beat Nightmare Moon?

One of the possibilities that came to me when I first watched this particular episode was that when Twilight used the spell to escape the Nightmare Moon timeline, Nightmare Moon could have attempted to interfere and end up going back with Twilight. You have Starlight Glimmer come face to face with Nightmare Moon to make her realize that she had royally screwed up rather than seeing the world being destroyed by her actions, and then they have to deal with Nightmare Moon in a timeline that already has a Luna.

5 likesHi, I'd like to talk again about my comment on the video about the forgotten timeline, the original timeline going on without the time travelers.
I wondered, if the travelers ended up in a timeline that isn't theirs, tho identical, where are their alter egos from this timeline?
And then I realized they traveled in time too.
That means from here, the timesplit turned into a timeloop that creates timesplits. Because these Starlight, Twilight and Spike from this new timeline that is identical to the original but isn't, also created a Chrysalis timeline, a Nightmare Moon timeline, a Discord timeline (etc) and a timeline that is identical to theirs but isn't. And in this timeline too their alter egos traveled in time and created these timelines...
So from here there's an infinity of timelines created, of each outcome we saw in the series. But there still is only one original timeline missing the time travelers... And then I was dizzy thinking about it.
But more recently I thought of a solution to abort this chaos.
I think likely that great minds and sorcerers as Starlight, Twilight, Starswirl and Sunburst would come to talk about such a big thing and spot the problem, and organize an expedition through the timelines to do so the time travelers go back to their own timeline after the final travel. Their travel would then apply in a timeloop where the otherwise abandoned timeline was actually never abandoned, and....
Nevermind, I thought it more while writing and I see it actually doesn't solve the infinite loop of splits.
But hey, it's a good start!

The expedition could do so the last travel actually leads to the original timeline, to create a loop where the travelers were actually always here at the rainboom in the original timeline, and the new timeline that is identical but is a separate one is not created, so there is no other timeline where Starlight, Twilight and Spike traveled in time.

Finding Starlight in a series of equal dreams would work, assuming that these ponies still dreamed. Starlight's spell could eventually erase the dreams, just having the ponies sleep a dreamless sleep. Or after so much monotony the brain does not have to dream to process the day. On the other side of the scale, while their outward personalities are locked, they may still dream like any other pony; the one time they are free to be themselves. But you are hoping that the repeated propaganda messages permeate their dreams, in which if you step in there you will constantly hear the repeated mantra, over and over and over.
4 likesAlso, Starlight is a smart one, she could use the spell against Nightmare Moon, or at the very least for her own gain (cutiemarkless society).
I just like thinking that in the Nightmare Moon timeline there would be an alternate route where all of the villains had to make an alliance to take down Nightmare Moon forcing them into the roles of the mane six, I mean the villains are actually capable of becoming friends and could somehow fill the slots for the elements of harmony just not in the ways the mane six did.

I just thought of something... what if changelings turn into ladybugs in the human world? Around a year ago you made a video talking about how the portal works. You were also trying to figure out what other creatures would turn into after heading into the human world and it got me thinking... it has happened twice now (once with Queen Chrysalis and another with Ocellus) that after a changeling has transformed into a pony, they got ladybug cutie marks. I mean it's a possibility that my theory is true right?? If you're interested maybe make a video on this? :D
7 likesTwo possible problems with this. First of all, we have a pretty good idea how long Starlight has been doing her village thing, because it was Maud that told her about the rock she put all the cutie marks in, and I think it was implied to be after the start of the show, specifically after Maud's first appearance, although I'm going to have to watch it again so it might go either way. Secondly, I don't think Starlight's time travel spell works without the Cutie Map, as it appeared in each altered timeline, so without that it may not be possible to time travel like that.

4 likesSo if we follow by the timeline altering concept of this, Twilight only saw the altered timelines because she activated the spell and was sucked into the past, hence sent her to the respective futures, including creating the new timeline where she just disappears and left everyone behind. Imagine if they're in their original timeline, they just watch Starlight goes into time travelling, they are still in the timeline where the rainboom has never been stopped. Their lives just goes on like every other day just without the existence of Starlight

1 likeI wonder if alt Starlight and Nightmare Moon would use the Tree of Harmony to boost the time travel spell. The map wouldn't exist in the NM-verse, so that's out of the equation. We also don't know if the Elements were ever returned to the Tree or if Nightmare Moon took them (except for Magic since that one needed to be summoned). The plunderseeds would've complicated things as well if they'd become active.
It’s said in the book that luna and Celestia didn’t get there cutie marks until after the cornation starswirl helped them learn new spells because starswirl could travel back in time celestia and Luna could’ve learned this too

Actually the sun and moon seems to move on their own now
1 like@ChristinewhoYT The sun and moon are not the issue here. In "Bridle Gossip", it is said that plants grow by themselves in the Everfree forest, but the sun still rises and sets there. This doesn't seem to be the case outside of Everfree. In Ponyville and any part of Equestria that is not part of the forest, plants require Earth Pony magic to grow.

6 likesI've never been one who liked multi-verse time-travel theories. The questions posed here are part of the reason. It indicates that you essentially "create" a new universe with each jump through time.
1 likeI'd be less opposed to a "die until you win" scenario, wherein every timeline that results in more time travel is essentially doomed, a temporary temporal construct that ceases to exist once time-travel happens to alter the past. This conserves energy at least and, in theory, works in like with the concept of the immortal soul. The people are the same, but the stage and play they are a part of is different.
Now I'm imagining what would have happened if Nightmare Moon had followed Twilight through the spell into Cloudsdale. Starlight would definitely would be surprised at the very least. Either way, that would lead to a lot of shenanigans.

The problem I see with this theory is the fact that Starlight's remaster of Starswirl's spell required the Cutie Map, which would not exist in this timeline because the castle would not, as Twilight would never use the chest to defeat Tirek.

6 likesI think maybe somehow a new alicorn is created in the timeline that nightmare moon left behind. Assuming that princess cadence is still alive she would probably teach the new alicorn like celestia did for twilight. But if not then I think the new alicorn may be seen as a threat because they would be so similar to nightmare moon. I can guess that this “new alicorn” would have a power similar to celestia and Luna’s, this way people would be less scared and more inclined to follow the new alicorn.

3 likes6:37 I actually like to believe we did see what happened in a timeline where Starlight got her way, I like to the think the final timeline we saw in the time travel episode was a reality where she took control, and made everyone "equal", as shown in the episode where she takes everyone's cutiemark, it shows that these ponies can't properly do their special talent (as Sugerbelle, a great baker, has her food reduced to disgusting muffins), so if everypony lost their special talent, jobs would become empty, food would very likely go sparse, land would most likely become dead, and I bet after a while under those circumstances, all that resulted in a dead Equestria...

Every pony would have been powerless to stop her. Plus, without their talents, pegasi couldn’t tend to the weather and earth ponies couldn’t tend to the soil or crops.

I have a little sort of theory kind of you know how the the 2 sisters have wavy hair and so does mist Maine! well when the princess's give there magic to twilight there mains stop flowing (the end of season 4) So there is a definite reason to why they have flowing mains but i think its a combo of magic power ,connection to your destiny/ elements and a display of beauty but only all three combined creates a flowing Maine twilight doesn't have enough magic power and cadence no connection to the elements sort of similar to the way alicorn's come to be! just a little theory...…..

1 likeSince she’s starlight, I think she would use the opportunity to trick Nightmare Moon into giving her the spell and using it to turn into some strange alternate reality where everyone is equal and it might even turn into the desolate reality we see at the end.
0 likesOne problem is that the time line she returns to would probably have another nightmare moon. Because when Starlight first changed the past with Twilight there we saw what would have happened to Twilight's exam to get into Celestia's school. This also happened when Starlight showed Twilight her past, so maybe in each present there is another version of the pony that returned from the altered past.
1 likeI think a thing that was forgotten about when making this theory was the rather massive Table brought with the Time spell. First question there. Why did the table come with? What I think is it's a needed component to go back in time long enough to change the past in any meaningful way like what she did. It's what is used to find friendship trouble across basically the entire world after all.
0 likesAnd if not. Why did the table come with? Is it not a bit strange how when everything else needed to be pulled in like Twilight the table that is built into the castle came with to? The table is also seen to still be online and working in these new worlds so it's not just an big lump of Crystal that came with but still the Elements of Harmony in table form.
If Twilight had never mentioned the cult leader by name or even description in relation to the modified time travel spell, I can see no reason for Nightmare Moon to believe that Starlight would have any ability to modify said spell according to her wishes. Even if she did locate the cult through dreams as you posit, it is a ridiculous leap in logic to go from "this pony can magically remove cutie marks" to "this pony can fundamentally alter the nature of a time travel spell that she had never known existed before this point". This especially, considering that the most important artifact that allowed her to make these modifications, the cutie map, never existed naturally in the timeline in question.

0 likesI noticed a few alicorns and unicorns have very similar names, Twilight sparkle, Starlight Glimmer and Sunset Shimmer. Their names all have something to do with a time of day and a kind of shine. I thought it might be something to do with interest and involvement with time travel and alternate timelines and universes. So Hasbro showed their similarities through their names :)
We all thought Wanda broke the multiverse. But now we know it was actually Starlight.

Well, by saying "I'll make sure the elements are never found" maybe she plans on using time travel in case someone's friendship create the elements and so she can reset the event and make sure they (whoever they are) don't become friends!

0 likesStarlight already used her magic on the princesses cutie marks before, who's to say she wouldn't have removed Nightmare Moon's rather than making the spell for her? Equalizing her would strip her of the dark moon magic she had, turning her back into Princess Luna. Evil Starlight could have defeated Nightmare Moon all on her own, and that timeline would have to deal with a Princess Starlight, who would equalize all her subjects. She wouldn't have to wait for Nightmare Moon to leave to take her cult global. Luna would be so remorseful for what she'd done as Nightmare Moon, that she would bend to Starlight's rule. We've seen how Luna would punish herself for her actions as Nightmare Moon before, like when she created a monster to haunt her dreams every night. She would be weak enough at that point, that she would see anything Starlight does as the good thing, because she was evil and Starlight had defeated her and good always conquers evil, right? Luna would just let Starlight rule, especially since without her Cutie Mark magic, she probably couldn't release Celestia from the Moon anymore. Luna wouldn't think she deserved to be in charge, and would literally hand over the kingdom to Starlight without any fight.
0 likesI think we are forgeting on crucial thing: the map. The spell is tied to the map. No map, no spell, no map in Nightmare Moon's realm, no need to force Starlight. Yeah Starlight could have altered the spell, but that may not have been possible. Besides, Starlight wouldn't have bowed down to Nightmare and Nightmare couldn't threaten to kill her without losing the possibility of time travel, so all in all I think it is unlikely.

Remember in the episode "Castle Mane-ia", they talk about the Pony of Shadows, and it's said that the Pony of Shadows is the lingering power of Nightmare Moon that dwells in the old castle. But going by what we learn of the Pony of Shadows later, the Pony of Shadows came around before Nightmare Moon, meaning that Luna was infected by the Pony of Shadows's lingering power, not the other way around. Perhaps creating Nightmare Moon was the Pony of Shadows's attempt to create an ally to free him from limbo, or maybe he was seeking his queen through her (imagine them as an evil power couple). Perhaps Nightmare Moon wanted the time travel spell to actually so she could prevent the Pony of Shadows's imprisonment, enabling them to rule side by side.

I can easily see Starlight converting a prison population into her cult. The very first thing you can point out is that without cutiemarks, the royal sisters wouldn't even have the power to utterly dominate the population. Sure one was good, but look at how quickly she lost, do you really want Equestria's happiness to be determined by the most powerful beings staying good? Luna didn't, and her sister's kindness made it so she could come back as a threat. If everyone was truly equal however...

1 likeI will be honest, I think you got her plan a little wrong: the elements of harmony needed to be found or else Discord would have never been defeated, erasing her rise to power. If anything, I think she merely intends to send the elements to another point in time to prevent them from being found.

But i also came to ask a question for a new video, after watching you're MLP: A new generation videos I asked myself how do new generation ponies get there cutie marks if there's was no magic. I guess it can be something natural that happens to ponies as they grow Iike are voice and how it changes, so ponies as they find there special skill or talent soon or later it will for on there flanks but with no magical moment like we see with the ponies in the past. "Ah, to come into full power and stop anyone from blocking my path, I need to get my hooves on the time travel spell." She spent day after day researching, but still no answer. All of a sudden, the sky lit up with a purplish glow, and Twilight Sparkle, ruler of Equestria No. 1 stepped infront of Moon's throne.

Twilight felt a wave of rage surround her. "Never, Nightmare! I don't know why you think someone so powerful, like you could get away with-" She paused, looking for something else to say. "What do you want to do with the spell, anyway?" She questioned.
"Why, to destroy the elements of harmony and secure my reign, of course!" Moon answered.
Twilight had to think fast and used the time travel spell her friend Starlight Glimmer had altered to escape.
"Did it go well?" Questioned Glimmer, curious to see how well Twilight had done.
" Ehhh, Uhhh, It went well. Moon didn't manage to get the spell. " She replied.
Meanwhile, in the Equestria that Nightmare Moon ruled, the Starlight Glimmer of that universe was imprisoned and tortured into altering the time travel spell until Moon could use it.
"How's it going, Starlight? Very well, perhaps?"
Starlight couldn't speak, she just nodded and handed over the time travel spell.
Nightmare moon realised she could now be not just the ruler of her Equestria, but all of the alternate ones as well.
"Thank you, Starlight! I can finally go back to before the elements were hidden and destroy them, then secure my reign and rule over the multiverse! HAHAHAHA!"
The multiverse was now desperate to see Celestia return, they prayed and prayed, but still, she didn't come. Until one day, after 1000 years of constant praying, the sky became blinding and out of the sun came a white alicorn with hair of pink, green and blue. Everyone in Equestria were escatic. "Celestia! O great ruler, please rid Nightmare Moon, she's put the multiverse in ruins!" Said Lyra Heartstrings.
Celestia stood silent, until she spoke. "I'll do what I can" She said, in a calm and reassuring voice. She defeated athe evrsion of Nightmare Moon that caused all of this, then creating clones of herself to destroy the rest.
Pinkie Pie was a bit confused. "What are we gonna do with all these Lunas? Will it be the same deal as my clones, keep the real one and send the rest into the Mirror Pond?" She asked Celestia.
Celestia was surprised by such a good idea. "Well, I guess we'll do that!"
With Equestria ruled by Celestia once again, the world slowly pieced itself back together, and soon enough, everything was back to normal.

1 likeI feel like Ive thought of an idea if Nightmare Moon did leave and go to use the spell. If she did starlight would still be in prision, but knowing how good she is with magic her time spent in there could let her think of a spell to get out of prision. Once that was done I feel like she would send her time studying changlings hoping to make a spell to make her transform into Nightmare Moon and rule over Equestria. This probbaly wouldn't happen but I wanted to say anyway.

1 likeI don't consider her as a villain because I saw a reddit and basically they described that Nightmare Moon didn't just took over equestria but simply just replaced Celestia and basically got rid off day and night cycle and just replaced with eternal night and not even that she could be a way better ruler then Celestia because she might have tooken care of the present villans like Chrysalis and her hive and trek but for Discord not sure of him but I think she might have casted a spell on him to keep him in his stone form for longer and she also might have taken care of sombra on her own as we know who powerful she is (even then Celestia) she is able to make her own army and won't allow anyone to get in close contact otherwise she will zap them with her thunder ability not even that none of the pony seem to be afraid of her at all like you can see it and I don't think no pony will go hungry because Luna might have find a way to fix that problem and before people start saying about daybreaker she literally just brag about herself while Nightmare Moon is focusing on her main objective and Chrysalis revulsion I don't think Chrysalis won't win as I just described that how powerful Nightmare Moon is she is able to make her own army and being powerful then Celestia and seeing Chrysalis as Celestia I don't think Chrysalis won't even have the chance to strike just for Nightmare Moon to banish her to the moon with Celestia or maybe have no mercy and kill her at the spot
I just don't understand that why every character in mlp just overreact when they see her, I may be wrong but I know she had intentions to hurt her sister but at the end you could see how greatly she is running the kingdom
I don't think Nightmare Moon would have the option to force Starlight to realter the time-travel spell. The Elements of Harmony surely aren't the only sort of threat NMM would want to proactively destroy, and a powerful unicorn with a cult of devoted followers would certainly constitute a potential threat. Realistically, that timeline's Starlight is already dead.

But even though the elements do not exist in her timeline, there could always be another alternative route if Celestia is ever free from the moon or somehow another group or a resistances who disapproves with Nightmare moons reign and may go against her which could defeat Nightmare moon, but it may be possible for Nightmare moon to succeed if she destroyed the original elements of harmony which will also destroy all the other timelines that could have the elements of harmony not exist.

How do you find these idea's they are incredible. One idea though, for some reason there is a strong feeling that starlight might have given nightmare moon an incorrect spell that might banish her. Possibly starlight taking the charge as the new ruler by force. Starlight is way to smart and living in a small town afar from the main effects on equestria. She has no reason to believe and fear nightmare moon. Nightmare moon just simply came to her took her. But I don't know this is so crazy!

2 likesalright but as you brought up starlight glimmer altering the spell for nightmare moon i got an another timeline idea in my brain where nightmare moon takes starlight under her wing and creates some kind of dark mane 6 of sorts. perhaps we can throw in the old element of disharmony headcanons and nightmare moon has herself some folks who's darkness can combat the light of the elements of harmony- most likely winning due to the absence of that world's mane 6 being friends due to the whole lack of rainboom thing.

How would Nightmare know that she could make the spell? Sure, she could find Starlight either way, but Starlight probably went out and personally studied Twilight (she did) and time travel, maybe other things as well. Without the events to push her to seek the knowledge I don't think Nightmare's Starlight would have the knowledge to alter Starswirl's spell. That or scenarios that other commenters point out could play out (The ones where Starlight would try and overthrow Nightmare or she'd search for Twilight herself) Then again, she could have this knowledge already. We only saw her as a filly, she might have studied all that stuff in her pony 'teenaged' years before the cult, WHO KNOWS!!

0 likesTaking references from real life, chances are in the timelines where the citizens are being ruled through dictatorship, they will rebel and create a revolution themselves - no outside influences needed. There are a few possiblities:
0 likes1) They believe the dictator isn't fit to rule as they have seen Celestia's rule and much prefer that, therefore will rebel to get her back onto the throne
2) Some time has passed and the citizens are tired of being surpressed
3) The new generation of citizens decid it is finally time to fight back to stop the mistreatment
I believe in every possible timeline that has a "villain" ruling, with or without magic, everyone will try and fight back (eventually) until the "villain" is defeated, they lose hope or until to last citizen falls. Be it, Nightmare Moon, Chrysalis or even Tirek

2 likesI have a theory. Remember Day breakers origin from about a year ago? After maybe some time, Celestia would turn the world to the good side. Let's assume that Celestia knew about Luna's dream walking powers. If so, she'd be jealous that she doesn't have that power. Starlight would probably already be dead, but lets assume she's alive, old, and powerful. Ruling Equestria with the equal sign cutie marks. Just like Luna, she might kidnap Starlight and get her that power. But Starlight can't change one's destiny, leaving Celestia, angry. So, she transforms into Day breaker. She'd remove Starlight, and maybe try to remove Chrisilys. (The changeling queen, not sure how to spell her name, I'll just call her queen.) So there could be 2 timelines. 1 where day breaker rules Equestria. Some ponies may try to fight her, but without a leader, useless. But what if Queen wins? I'd think she would remove all most living creatures. She doesn't need that many for love. Only keep the weak ones and destroy the rest. Well, what about Throax? There's no way he'd try to spark rebellions. There is no way he'd pull a Sawtooth and live in Ponyville. Honestly, it just all depends. But who would win in a fight between Day breaker or Queen? I think Queen, she has all of her changelings. Who does she have? But, of course, maybe Celestia wouldn't get jealous, or maybe Starlight COULD change destines. But what do you think?

So it may be that Nightmare was trying to conquer Equestria from the shadows, Celestia was fighting 2 battles { Though Applejack did not mention that} or she was banished to the moon again. She was also not present in the other timelines. Like you said she may have not been released or may have been overthrown. but then what about the timelines in which she was released.

When they were called to duty as princesses he got bored and lonely that his best friends were too busy for him so he decided to cause mischief there was discord getting defeated by the elements and comes to the timeline we know. 2 likesI have a theory about Starlight, and that's the theory that Starlight Could end up being an Alicorn much like Twilight did in Season 3 Episode 13. What evidence do I have? well:

- Much like Twilight, Starlight is sent to Ponyville to make her own friends, but is hesitant at first
- Much like Twilight, Starlight as altered and "completed" a Starswirl spell.
If given enough time and training, Starlight could end up being the next Alicorn princess that takes over Twilight's role after she leaves, much like with what happened with Luna & Celestia, maybe taking over for both Cadence and Twilight as the Princess of both Friendship and Love, though Flurry might just take over for princess of love instead. And much like Starlight's Mentor and her friends before her, Starlight, Trixie, and all her other friends might form their own "Submane" 6 that does things for Twilight and to protect Equestria.

0 likesNightmare Moon wouldn't even need Starlight Glimmer. The knowledge that such a spell is possible is enough. It does make "dream police" an interesting issue though. Although there is only ONE NMM. She can't police EVERY pony's dreams. It is just too much.
0 likesI have an alternate alternate timeline. NMM isn't all about brute force, she can be very cunning and patient. After all, if she's secured her timelines version of the time travel spell, she can then manipulate events to bring Starlight and the scroll together at, pardon the pun, a time of her own choosing. She could use the dreamscape to exploit Starlight's own fragile mental state, and NMM did use reward as well as punishment.

In this timeline, NMM bribes Starlight and plays to her ego just a little, securing her in the archives and challenging her gradually, building up to the reveal of the time scroll and how to alter it. To hedge her bets, she might give Starlight dreams about both the benefits of supporting NMM and the consequences of failing. NMM could even make it look like she's helping Starlight, by 'ending' the initial nightmare of horrible consequences and appearing as a sort of savior. NMM could also combine this with sleep deprivation, and maybe even implanted code words or inhibitions that mean Starlight can't use the power on NMM, but rather becomes yet another weapon NMM can use to make examples of anyone opposing her. Sure, random executions until morale improves is fine, but seeing some formerly energetic activist have their cutie mark removed and then have to make do in everyday life? That'll get ponies to think twice. Especially if you make a stage spectacle of it...

But if that were the case, she’d be more prepared to take him on than if he was released by time like in the original timeline- and if destroying the elements didn’t free discord, she’d probably either destroy the statue or put it somewhere she knew he couldn’t get out, like Tartarus or something- Idk 🤷🏻♀️

Yeah... Luna has Nightmare moon, Celestia has Daybreaker, Twilight has midnight sparkle, and cadence has- nothing? Well maybe she DOES have one. It's just not shown on screen. You know there are way more alternate realities than the one that starlight created. But, if she does have a dark side, it's probably something like Anti-love because she's the princess of love. Good question though, i would have never wondered.

But in the Nightmare Moon timeline, she probably would have something against Nighmare Moon. But she wouldn't have known about the spell, which is why I don't think Nightmare Moon would take notice of Starlight. But if Starlight herself had left the village for the sake of finding a way to stop Nightmare Moon, perhaps she would find the spell, and in tern, a way to stop Nightmare Moon. As Starlight is working on altering the spell, Nightmare Moon then spots the related dream. But I don't think that Starlight would be so willing to help Nightmare Moon. She may have modified the spell in a different way. Instead of a time travel spell perhaps Starlight modified it into a spell that would remove the user from time itself.
Now here's a theory to go along with this. REgardless of whether the spell removed Nightmare Moon from time, or was just designed to ensure that Nightmare Moon cannot return to that timeline, perhaps the next "big bad" to take over is Starlight herself. But she's unable to sustain the world on her own, especially if she removes the cutie marks from everyone so that the ponies cannot sustain the world either. Everything would then die out and become a baron wasteland. In other words, the timeline that Twilgiht pulled Starlight into to see. That would mean that the Wasteland timeline exists in the same timeline as the Nightmare Moon timeline. And it would also mean that the Wasteland timeline would be the direct result of Starlight's actions, even if it's an alternate timeline version of her. In other words, Starlight's success would end up being the worst case scenario. Although, that could mean that the Wasteland timeline could also be called the "Equelstria Timeline".
Perhaps Starlight could have a chance to shine in some alternate timeline. But this could mean that Starlight is prevented by fate from succeeding.

0 likesI really want your opinion on this sawtooth…l agree with you but I have a different idea in mind what if everything goes the same up until the time travel part she thinks things through before going and she realizes that she might make her own alternate universe so do not leave her kingdom behind she could either send starlight to break them or free Celestia just to go and break the elements also I imagine she could either very very well hide them or just completely destroy them sure they’ll still be activatable but that way she could hide them better…or even just use you know during the Celestia and nightmare moon fight she could just use that little dark blast and probably either deactivate the elements or something else equally insane…

1 likeThere is a reason the map had to sent the main 6 to that village despite Luna being able to dreamwalk. Nightmare moon would have been searching for a needle in a haystack. And when accounting for the fact that Starlight was filled with rage when crafting the spell, that Starlight's emotions dictate the strength of her magic and that the table was needed to even cast the spell in the first place, nightmare moon was out of luck the moment Twilight escaped.
We have no reason to believe that the table continued to function after Twilight left. In fact, Nightmare moon probably wouldn't have even bothered to safe the tree of harmony from the plunder seeds. There would have been no conduit available for her that she could use to cast the spell. Oh, and lets not forget that Nightmare moon already knew where the tree of harmony is. Friendship isn't exactly going to repaid the elements without the tree of harmony to repair them. Otherwise they would have been fixed the moment Sombra got blasted.

i think dream was meant in a metaphorical sense, not literal. though if starlight was smart enough she might block dreams to keep luna/nightmare moon from finding them.
0 likes@Sawtooth Waves No, I'm pretty sure it was literal. I'm pretty sure that Starlights spell straight up blocks the ability to have dreams. That is pretty much the only possible explanation as to why Luna wasn't aware of the village. At least the only explanation that doesn't result in plotholes.

So if she did impersonate Celestia then she could integrate the whole changeling population into equestria and replace beloved figures and everyday ponies. The only obstacle in her way is that she can’t raise the sun since she’s not Celestia. Then she could rule for decades until Celestia can get back to Equestria but even then the amount of love she would have fed on for so long would allow her to be victorious.

0 likesYou just assume Nightmare Moon could take on communist Starlight Glimmer and her town of brainwashed zombies. Starlight was convinced to change her ways by acts of friendship, kindness and forgiveness from Twilight. All attempted force was swiftly countered. Now you could argue that Nightmare Moon is individually more powerful than Twilight and so could also easily overpower Starlight.
If this were true It still begs the question; would she really be cooperative even in her defeat knowing there will be no forgiveness, friendship or compassion for doing so? I am of the opinion Starlight would rather die than help an enemy who she would most certainly feel a raging anger and vengeance towards. The dictator doesn't just become the dictated without a real fight or a good deal where she could gain something.
Maybe I give Starlight too much credit but I have a feeling a master in manipulation like herself would rightly be very skeptical of any promises or offers Nightmare Moon could make. Admittedly full conjecture mode, but using your theory with alternate conclusions it could even be possible that Starlight dethrones Nightmare moon or another force rises up in the midst of the chaos. The possibilities are endless.
If nightmare moon destroyed the elements the timeline she would have created would be a discord one because he woudve been released in the return of harmony ep either way
