Let's just say they're a typical prog group with symphonic and jazz influences, a bit of an ala Crimson. Led by multi-instrumentalist Jochen Petersen (guitars and winds), the group develops a wide soundscape in just four songs (the shortest is well over 6 minutes) that goes all the way to electronic swirling and string arrangements.the 15-minute Eclipse begins the blues-like with a large guitar riff, but soon evolves into excellent phases of the instrumental interplay, while Kohler's voice and accent are quite convincing, but the lyrics (not necessarily his when reading the credits) are not quite so. The opening track is quite interesting with its multiple movements, including the organ-filled Scyscraper over symphonic layers (including mellotrons) and ending with electronic birdsong and other Bruitist stuff. The next Mesentery is the weakest song of the album and disappears into a cosmic and space interlude before returning across the string layers. The other side opens on TV or Radio jingle ?like riff, which is the beginning of another epic, the 11-minute Raven where Petersen's wind instruments rise, then suddenly (abruptly) turn into improving psychology/space in their middle part before gradually climbing back through the famous-else riff (Heep's Gypsy) and ending in footsteps. The final song (sung by guitarist Schulz) Early Bell's Voice is a strange journey through on-air-modified soundscapes where the organ dominates until they disappear into a knell winding up their madness. It's a strange ending. It was supposed to be their only album (now very rare and expensive as vinyl), most members continued their musical quest, but not necessarily in prog circles, and leader Petersen became a producer later in the decade after going through Cornucopia. Although I wouldn't call Icarus relevant to your collection, it must be good enough to earn a place in it and therefore earn its fourth star.ladislav&zivanovic.............
