Change of tactics: Cycle the generated worlds until a village is nearby and dig into the ground instead of looking for a lava pool (with a fair chance of getting some iron armour). Plus: bartering was good after a gold block bounty - it's as if piglin loot tables have been re-buffed in 1.16.4.
