You have seen people sneak into places for free by using orange vests. You have also seen people sneak into places by carrying a latter. But I guarantee that you haven't seen someone sneak into somewhere for free by using an ugly painting and convincing the majority of the security at the event that Banksy was the one who painted it.
It's ridiculous which is probably why it worked.
