Russian propaganda has been an object of ridicule from both Westerners and Russians for a long while. However, it is quite effective. Russian TV and Russian news are obviously popular in Russia, but there are also ways in which Russian propaganda can influence the opinions of Westerners. Take RT or Russia Today for example. It's pretty good at pushing pro-Russian talking points towards a right wing American/European audience. I thought that's as far as it goes, but no: RT actually owns leftist media outlets that promote pro-Kremlin viewpoints to your average young Western leftist. I'm talking about the outlets known as Redfish and Soapbox. Let's see how Russia uses leftist rhetoric to promote its talking points and how all of this ties into old Soviet Union propaganda.
