LP EMI Columbia SCX 6405 (UK)
LP Capitol (SAD).......Njihov debitantski album čine uglavnom kraće folk-rock pjesme (inferiorne u 3:30), osim tri zapažene pjesme, uključujući vrhunski epski album best Nature Boy (sa svojim dugim vibrafonskim solo) i 12-min+ najizazovniji Ulysses (sa svojim neobičnim izrazima i pognutim basom, divljom flautom i čudnim uzorcima bubnjeva) i u manjoj mjeri gotovo 5-min Počevši od svega, Ponovo. Za neke od težih dijelova gitare zaslužan je Gordon Giltrap i nema sumnje da Accolade vjerojatno nije bio dovoljno prostora da izbuši više od jednog albuma.......The first album of this English folk quintet that easily adapted to the symphonic arrangements in their music, as well as gave us great psychedelic moments. While the music rested mostly on two guitarists (Giltrap and Partridge), it is clear that most of their embellishments came from the saxophone & flute Cresswell, but also some vibraphone, from the Partridge singer. Decorated with a bizarre bucolic collage, it was published on the British label Columbia, but also received an American edition. In general, all their shorter songs lie in the folk rock empire; but he's never afraid to get into jazz a little bit, rock and receive the lush strings of ala Moody Blues. Yes, TMB is mentioned and it is quite understandable why: Cresswell's flute, Partridge's vocals and many of the band's arrangements are a direct inspiration of the mythical TMB. A few things allow Accolade to have its own sound, among which is vibraphone (when used) or standup bass, especially when bent (as in the epic Ulysses). In short, though somewhat executed, Accolade's debut album still manages his own personality and captivates this old proghead pagan, as he discovered another unearthed gem from the early '70s.
As far as I know, none of their albums have seen a cd release (neither legible nor boot), and that's a bloody shame because their superb psych-prog folk rock deserves much more sunlight than in its "obscure leak" status. LADISLAV&Z... ....
