Album.............Didier Bocquet's very limited debut release shows talent that will become more apparent on his later albums, but still turns out to sound amateurish. Eclipse isn't a bad album, but it sounds very aimless. The opening track, "1984", is very generic and overly repetitive, sounding exactly like the first track on the debut album of an insecure artist. The rhythm is almost identical to the generic 4/4 krautrock style on the Organization's debut album (before Kraftwerk) and really doesn't explore rhythmic or textual possibilities, repeating its 13-minute performance time unjustified. The title track is a similar situation, overly repetitive, but not in a krautrock way. This path is much closer to the cosmic cerebral sound on Voyage Cerebral, but it has a very limited development. Basically, it sounds like someone took a 2-minute selection from any of Klaus Schulze's smaller songs and repeated it over and over again for almost 10 minutes (the first 3 minutes are simple electronic resonances on a droning background). While Eclipse is not the highlight of Didier Bocquet's career, it is an honest representation of where he came from and what his influences are. However, anyone looking for something interesting might better refer to its later releases.............Ladislav&Zivanovic.......
