Pacific Eardrum was a multinational jazz funk/soul band that released two albums about Charisma in 1977 and 1978, and the third on CBS in 1980. The lineup featured three New Zealanders, two Americans and one Englishman.
Members: Bill Kristian (bass), Dave MacRae (keyboards), Isaac Guillory (guitar), Jeff Seopardie (drums), Jim Cuomo (saxophone), Joy Yates (vocals)
Led by Kiwi husband and husband Tim Dave MacRae and Joy Yates, the Pacific eardrum was filmed in England, where they were joined by fellow KIWI Bill Kristian, UK-born Jeff Seopardie and Former Spoils of War/Fireballet horn player Jim Cuomo, born in Arizona. Former Cryan' Shames guitarist Isaac Guillory completed the band.
MacRae played with everyone from Mike Westbrook and Neil Ardley to Olivia Newton-John and the Walker brothers, except to serve time with Matching Mole and Ian Carr's core, where he appeared alongside his wife on Roots LP in 1973. Yates was a member of Esperanto and sang backup on recordings of Cat Stevens, Chris De Burgh, Chris Youlden, Steve Harley, Jorge Ben and Yugo-rock sensation White Button.
