Remastered at – Charly StudiosAs tensions in the group were felt, Roky Erickson and Stacy Sutherland were both arrested in 1968 for possession of cannabis. Stacy will be sentenced to several months in prison, and Roky, pleading madness to avoid prison (he reportedly told the court that he is a Martian), is interned in a psychiatric hospital. But he escapes quite quickly, an arrest warrant is quickly issued against him, and he is arrested again, again in possession of narcotics. Diagnosed with schizophrenia, he is interned again after a brief trial, but as he has already escaped, this time he is placed in a hospital for "crazy criminals", where he will undergo a series of electroshocks. This confinement extends over three years. Either way, this double arrest marks the end of the 13th Floor Elevators as a group. While they were mired in these legal problems, their record company released a fake live album, consisting of some tracks from The Psychedelic Sounds of The 13th Floor Elevators and rock 'n' roll covers released so far in 45 rpm. Applause is added on top. Upon his release from prison, Stacy Sutherland will record and compose almost alone Bull of the Woods, third album very blues. If we find a few songs with Roky before his internment, Stacy sings on most of them. Unfortunately for him, he died tragically in 1978, accidentally killed by a rifle shot by his wife. Survival
After a psychiatric stay during which he wrote a collection of mystical poems, openers (which was later published), and recorded some folk songs (which can be found on the record Never Say Goodbye), Roky Erickson temporarily found a fragile balance with his mother Evelyn and released some songs in 1973 and 1980, an interesting record under the name roky Erickson and the Aliens. Less psychedelic but much more rock with Duane Aslaksen's distorted guitar, the lyrics talk about zombies (I Walked With a Zombie), aliens, two-headed dogs (Two Headed Dog'), vampires (Night of the Vampire), ghosts (If You Have Ghosts) and demons (I Think of Demon)...
