CD Syn-phonic - SYNCD 18 (1999, USA) Remastered by Kevin Gilb.......... Fans of bands such as CATHEDRAL, MIRTHRANDIR and YEZDA URFA are in for a treat with BABYLON. Their main influence was obviously early GENESIS, but they seemed much more interested in more aggressive moments of songs like "The Musical Box," "Firth Of Fifth" and "Cinema Show" than in their slow clusters. The four tracks, recorded around 1978, waste little time becoming aggressive and complex. They contain intricate BASS/drum slots influenced by RUTHERFORD/COLLINS, melodic synth lines and distant lines of weeping guitar. The vocals might be a little too dramatic for some. I suppose I could compare the situation to the vocals on MIRTHRANDIR's album. At first, the vocals seemed a bit amateurish, but after repeated performances his style quickly became likable. Overall, this is another major release of GENESIS-influenced prog
