an obscure early pop rock band from Berlin, originally from the school band Cosmics, became Take Five (1965) by winning the international beat festival competition in 1968. With the birth of Krautrock, they tried to reinvent themselves and change their name to Made In Germany Founded in Viersen, Germany, in 1971 - Disbanded in 1982, WALLENSTEIN was a band that transcended numerous musical styles over decades and more of its existence, from early krautrock to symphonic to space rock towards the end of its existence. WALLENSTEIN'S original lineup focused on keyboardist/vocalist Jürgen Dollase and drummer Harald Großkopf, both of whom will make the names even bigger for themselves in the German music business (Dollase with COSMIC JOKERS and Großkopf as one of ashra's founders, and later central European, the performance will make the names even bigger for themselves. The band was originally called BLITZKRIEG, but while they were preparing their first studio release, the band discovered the previous band with that name changed theirs and kept 'Blitzkrieg' as the title of that first album. Großkopf will leave the band after the release of "Stories, Songs & Symphonies" in 1975 and was replaced by former ZOPPO TRUMP drummer Nicky Gebhard. This started a series of several changes to the band, including Genhard's replacement Charly Terstappen, who himself will move on as a member of the skirt band THE LORDS; the addition of Achim Reiser on violin and Dollase's brother Rolf on the flute; Jürgen PLuta on bass; and Gerb Klocker on guitar.

The band's sound evolved from a direct Swabian sound to a harder style reminiscent of AMON DÜÜL II or CAN, tends to be on a screaming guitar and piano with only a sporadic mellotron for emphasis, and with the addition of violin and flute, the band would adapt a truly symphonic sound for its later releases.

By the end of the 1970s, only Jürgen Dollase remained from the original lineup, and the band faded into oblivion after the release of "Ssssstop" in 1981.

WALLENSTEIN are legitimate participants in progressive archives for their place in the history of krautrock music and for the long list of memorable albums they left behind.
