Camp Lazlo is an American animated television series created by Joe Murray. The series was released on July 8, 2005, in the United States and was released on November 1, 2005, in the United Kingdom. The show features a Boy Scout-likesummer camp with a cast of anthropomorphic animal characters, a "retro" type of humor and silliness akin to Murray's previous series, Rocko's Modern Life, which aired on Nickelodeon a decade earlier, and cultural references.[1]
The series ended its two-and-a-half-year run on Cartoon Network on March 27, 2008, with the series finale "Lumpus' Last Stand" after 5 seasons and 61 episodes. This series returned to Cartoon Network in October 2012 in re-runs on the revived block, Cartoon Planet. Starting January 2014, it began running with independent airtime on the network's sister channel, Boomerang.
The show's theme song is sung to the tune of Bingo. Lazlo is an eccentric, optimistic and quirky Brazilian spider monkey. Often annoying Edward, he is a very happy-go lucky monkey, Raj is a cautious, timid and vain Indian elephant who speaks with a distinct Indian accent. Born in India,, Clam is a small, dim-witted and childish albino pygmy rhinoceros who is one of Lazlo's bunkmates and best friends. Although being one of the main characters of the show, he rarely speaks in full sentences. Edward is a short-tempered, cranky and sadistic platypus with a grudge, who sleeps in Pinto Cabin with Chip and Skip. Samson is a likeable yet nerdy, bespectacled, and accident-prone guinea pig, Chip and Skip are two unintelligent, revolting and clueless dung beetle twins.
