One thing I'm really looking forward to is Ponybro's rant about the pitifulness of humanity in Stыven universe. A person who started a series of reactions with a video of a heavy machine gun firing is destined to notice this.
Yeah one of my favorite things about the show is how strict yet expansive the continuity is. There’s SO much of it but it’s written to where it all fits together and connects. I’m someone who fully believes that the general story was planned out from the beginning because of how tight the continuity remains while there’s simultaneously so much of it.
I’m already loving your reactions so far!<3 This show is definitely a see for yourself kinda show and so I would try my best to stray away from many of the community’s “toxic” views of the show and make your own interpretations and judgements.
Oh, I missed that you started watching SU! Excited to see you react to this series.
If you don't know already, some of the episodes in seasons 1 and 2 aired in the wrong order (during the second half of season 1 and the first few episodes of season 2, with the rest of the seasons completely unaffected), which messes with the pacing and progression a little bit. Some sources still have them in that order or even in a bespoke wonkier one, so it'd be good to double check that you're going in the writers' intended order (which Wikipedia of all places happens to list them in now) as you go along.
(Also there's a particular short, an extended version of the intro, that should be watched in-between the intended 4th and 5th episodes of season 2 in order to get the full affect, as it's essentially a transition point of the series. Might sound weird that this happens a few episodes into season 2 even in the intended order, but you'll understand why when you get there.
[Though if the files are already in the wrong order, some of the episodes might also have the wrong intro, so I personally hope you just have the right ones already. ...I could send you a HQ batch that's in the right order, actually. If that's allowed.])
{I'm sorry for the long and slightly-unhinged comment, I just have a big pet peeve with networks messing up a show's order when it actually kind of matters. A few other reactors, like RarityDash, reacted to them in the aired order and it still pains me a little.}
Yeah, the show kinda just starts off by throwing you into the middle of things. One thing that might help to understand is that the Crystal Gems are actually sentient alien gemstones from another planet, and yes, they are crazy strong compared to humans. And since Steven is half-gem himself, he also has super strength, though he doesn't really notice it most of the time since he's by himself a lot.
@@strebiskunk2ndchannel864 I always had the impression that the show purposefully allows your mind to wander, up until certain questions are finally revealed more directly after being slowly built up.
I always saw this as a big draw of the show's lore, even if it involves smaller and less hugely-consequential stuff early on.
And, I mean, he might not have seen the comment yet..
(Sorry for the maybe-unnecessarily-long reply. I'm not sure how to make the first two paragraphs shorter.)
@@strebiskunk2ndchannel864 I do kinda get where you're coming from, but I find the reveal that they're aliens to be just as important to experience organically as anything else. The confusion and mystery at the beginning as to how everything works is part of the way the show builds itself up, IMO.
Regardless, thank you for the considerate response. I was worried I'd come off as too aggressive but I also didn't want to downplay how important I feel this is.
@@Persun_McPersonson I appreciate that, and I am trying to avoid spoilers. Just sticking to a couple of basics that, in my own experience, helped me avoid a LOT of confusion when I first started watching the show. Won't be giving anything else away going forward.
You really shouldn't be explaining things that the show itself is supposed to be introducing in later episodes (I mean them being aliens in this case, Steven being stronger because of his gem is subtley implied from the start so that's fine). The slow buildup of the lore is one of the best parts of the show.

@@Persun_McPersonson Hmm, confusion being an intended part of the experience. That's an interesting way to look at it. I'll try to keep that in mind.
