Feeling the futility of trying to stay in Detroit, in early 1977 the band changed its name in Enda again moved to New York in hopes of succeeding in the successful punk rock scene there, but the band failed to get a sleaw following or conclude a record deal and ended up penniless and disappointed. They returned to Detroit and essentially became dormant, stopping playing, except for occasional private gatherings - in the words of Alan Webber "just to have fun ... we've never had an official say, 'Well, we're done.'"

The show's creators suggest that other punk songs can be used in future episodes." Alan Webber to embroider the band for any of the songs of some of the other unreleased songs in their archive: "There were other recordings that we recordinged -- I have tons of material that we've been doing for years ... Le reste de leur formation était composé d’Alan Webber et Steve Rockey à la guitare, Rod McMahon à la basse et Craig Webber (le frère cadet d’Alan) à la batterie. Le groupe était connu pour sa quantité et son énergie et ses performances live passionnantes.
Le groupe a utilisé des costumes commémoratifs et des théâtralités des tendances glam rock habituelles de l’époque. Ils ont joué des concerts quand ils étaient disponibles dans la région métropolitaine de Detroit, et même l’écrivain influent Lester Bangs les a vantés dans un article pour le magazine Creem et dans un autre morceau qui est apparu dans Creem en septembre 1976, Air-Wreck Genheimer a dit du groupe, « Les punks ont joué de telle manière que vos os d’oreille semblaient avoir été étouffés dans votre mâchoire et pizduroped en même temps. » Selon Richard Blondy, leur ancien manager et agent de réservation, « Leur musique était si intense et si forte, et leur performance scénique était si excitante. C’est comme le gars a dit à propos de (Naughty Bits) sur 'Vinyl'- ils vous frappent au visage et ils attent leur attention. En 1974, le groupe enregistre une série de démos dans le sous-sol de la maison familiale d’Alan et Craig Webber dans le canton de Waterford. Plusieurs des chansons qu’ils ont enregistrées, telles que « My Time’s Comin' », « Q1 » et « Drop Dead », montrent l’intensité du battage indiquant de futures performances punk.
En 1974, la scène rock autrefois florissante de Detroit s’était dissipée et la plupart de ses espaces s’étaient pliés ou s’étaient concentrés sur d’autres styles musicaux. Selon Alan Webber, « Nous sommes restés et avons dit: 'OK, il n’y a plus rien ici pour nous. Faisons notre propre bruit. Sentant la futilité d’essayer de rester à Detroit, au début de 1977, le groupe a changé son nom en Enda a de nouveau déménagé à New York dans l’espoir de réussir dans la scène punk rock à succès là-bas, mais le groupe n’a pas réussi à obtenir un sleaw suite ou conclure un contrat d’enregistrement et a fini par sans le sou et déçu. Ils sont retournés à Detroit et sont essentiellement devenus dormants, arrêtant de jouer, à l’exception de rassemblements privés occasionnels - selon les mots d’Alan Webber « juste pour s’amuser ... nous n’avons jamais eu un fonctionnaire dire, « Eh bien, nous avons terminé. »
Développements ultérieurs
D’anciens membres du groupe sont passés à d’autres efforts. Le chanteur William Kuchon, a passé du temps à travailler dans l’industrie cinématographique en Californie. Le guitariste Alan Webber est à la retraite et vit à Pontiac. Le bassiste Rod McMahon est un artiste de chauffage et de refroidissement à Auburn Hills, et le guitariste Steve Rockey est à la retraite et vit à Grand Blanc, Michigan. Le frère cadet de Webber, Craig, le batteur original des Punks, est décédé en 2011, bien qu’un autre frère cadet, Paul, joue également de la batterie. Au tournant du millénaire, le site Web de Detroit, MotorCityJams.com, a fait la chronique de la carrière du groupe et a aidé à organiser la sortie d’un CD en édition limitée en 2003 extrait de certaines des différentes démos et enregistrements du groupe intitulé The Most Powerful Music on Earth. Il a ensuite été distribué par Italian Rave Up Records à propos de LP en 2005. De nombreuses chansons ont fait leur chemin vers YouTube et d’autres sites Web.
La dernière fois que The Punks ont joué ensemble en privé, c’était en 2011 avant la mort du batteur Craig Webber.et à nouveau en 2015 (avec le frère de Craig, Paul Jouant de la batterie), aux Motor City Music Awards, PUNKS présentés par Violent J de The Insane Clown Posse comme les « Detroit Legends ». Le réalisateur torontois Bennett Phillips, en collaboration avec Chains of Madnesss Motion Pictures, a commencé à travailler sur un documentaire sur le groupe intitulé My Time’s Coming: The Story of The Punks. Leur chanson « My Time’s Comin' » a été utilisée dans la bande originale des épisodes de la série télévisée « My Time’s Comin' » les 13 et 20 mars (2016), co-créée par Mick Jagger et le réalisateur des Rolling Stones Martin Scorsese, mettant en vedette Nasty Bits, un groupe fictif dirigé par le chanteur et leader joué par le fils de Mick Jagger, James Jagger, essayer d’enregistrer des parties de la chanson. Les créateurs de l’émission suggèrent que d’autres chansons punk puissent être utilisées dans les prochains épisodes. Alan Webber pour broder le groupe pour l’une des chansons de certaines des autres chansons inédites dans leurs archives: « Il y avait d’autres enregistrements que nous avons enregistrés -- j’ai des tonnes de matériel que nous faisons depuis des années ...
