DISTANT DREAM n’est pas tant un groupe qu’un projet. En fait, c’est un pur produit de l’ère www / numérique. Des musiciens, des artistes, des écrivains, des concepteurs et des ingénieurs du son du monde entier ont été réunis pour sortir « A New Beginning » de la phase conceptuelle, en tant qu’album réel. Les pays d’où les participants ont travaillé étaient l’Inde, les États-Unis, la Suède, la France et la Nouvelle-Zélande. La question la plus évidente serait de savoir comment toutes ces personnes largement dispersées ont choisi de coopérer. L’idée a d’abord commencé à Calcutta en Inde, mais le fil commun semble être Ann Arbor et l’Université du Michigan. De nombreux membres du projet ont fréquenté l’Université du Michigan, vivent à Ann Arbor ou les deux. DISTANT DREAM is not a band as much as a project. In fact, it is a pure product of the www/digital age. Musicians, artists, writers, designers and sound engineers from around the world have been put together to bring "A New Beginning" out of the conceptual phase, as an actual album. The countries from which the participants worked were India, the USA, Sweden, France and New Zealand. The most obvious question would be, how did all these widely dispersed people choose to cooperate? The idea initially began in Calcutta India, but the joint thread appears to be Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan. Many members of the project either attended U of M, live in Ann Arbor or both. Now it may seem significant only because of its proximity, but there is more to it than that (get ready for some hometown pride).
I'm a Michigan native and I've been all over the state.
After many years in Chicago, I returned to my birthplace of Muskegon Michigan. Although I started there, there was a significant culture shock. I lived in Ann Arbor for a few years. In any other field, if your interests differ from country music, hip hop, AOR, NASCAR, prime-time soap operas and Christianity, you're pretty much out of the loop. Ann Arbor is a small oasis of culture, advanced thinking and diversity. It is also a very international city. People from all over the world come through here, and a lot of people decide it's their home. I must add, no matter how close it is, Ann Arbor is not a suburb of Detroit. So, as you can see, this is a good place to start a global "band".
People have been contacted, parts have been written in one place, recorded in others and mixed elsewhere.
Writers and artists worked from their studios. What finally appeared was a multimedia presentation. It's not just music. There's a story and artwork that goes with it. Although not all musicians are involved, 22 people are responsible. I could get into any contribution, but to save space, I would recommend going to the website. It's a great undertaking, and one that should be commended, no matter what you think of the music. However, the music needs to be heard. They chose the participants well, and there is an obvious talent. One member, Jake Reichbart (who lives in A2), played with Thijs Van Leer. He also says he's never met anyone else. He just filmed his share and sent it in. So it would be interesting to see if they decide to do it again. It's not like they have to get people together in one place.

Glazbenici, umjetnici, pisci, dizajneri i inženjeri zvuka iz cijelog svijeta sastavljeni su kako bi "Novi početak" izvukli iz konceptualne faze, kao stvarni album. Zemlje iz kojih su sudionici radili bile su Indija, SAD, Švedska, Francuska i Novi Zeland. Najočitije pitanje bi bilo, kako su svi ti široko raspršeni ljudi odlučili surađivati? Ideja je u početku počela u Calcutta India, ali čini se da je zajednička nit Ann Arbor i Sveučilište u Michiganu. Mnogi članovi projekta ili su pohađali U of M, žive u Ann Arboru ili oboje. Sada se to može činiti značajnim samo zbog blizine, ali u tome ima više od toga (pripremite se za neki ponos rodnog grada).
