Head into Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn on and off Windows features, find Legacy Components and check it. Wait for it to install and try again.

Is it possible to connect FiM with a Nintendo Switch Controller? I tried it out with connecting the game with steam but I cant play normal and if I try to use the settings in-game and press a button it always says "17".
We know it works with the Switch Pro conttroller connected via USB, but not sure about standard controllers. You would probably have to somehow have to connect them to bluetooth so that they show up as one controller, but this is just speculation.

Are you installing the game somewhere which is different from the default directory?
