RIP Minute Memes. We hardly knew ye, but we badly miss ye.

The car salesman original image meme is SUPER old. I first saw it back in 2015 (it was probably made before that let’s be honest) and it was the one where he talks about how much spaghetti fits in the car. It’s confusing to see how it suddenly gains traction 3 years later.

It appears the meme community has entered a crisis once again. We blew away our fortune during the golden age of 2015/2016, and now post-ironic memes have taken to the spotlight, leaving us to loan older memes and share them with a slightly improved ironic mark-up. The Pewdiepie Meme Review Tax is unfortunately gobbling up any long lasting memes, drastically depleting our savings. With too many consumers and not enough producers, deep frying seems to be the only cheap and cost effective method for accounts to satisfy their growing audiences. Expect ironic memes to stick around for a while folks.

It is depressing seeing the progression of scores throughout this series. It scares me.

I think this was the aftermath of the massive amounts of memes from Feburary and March. With memes like the Logan paul suicide forrest, foot lettuce, Globgogabgalab, and more, people lost creative energy and needed a break as we used so much material. That's why I felt like May-July has been nothing special in terms of memes.

I will say this about the Regular Show memes:

I’m glad to see Regular Show finally make its long-awaited debut in the meme universe.

If you feel like some of the memes didnt deserve a bad score, keep in mind that quantities over quality must've been the issue here, yeah memes like regular show and the slap the roof were good but there weren't enough good edits and mostly there been alot of people just making stale and repetitive jokes, for example the homer getting hit with a chair meme was received well because alot of people were putting in the effort and pushing the boundaries instead of just changing the last bit of music at the end which anyone can do in 5 minutes, there were good versions of memes, but not enough to determine if its good or not

When I sat down watched the whole playlist of Minute Memes, I had a comment in mind, mentioning something about Old Memes, then I started getting stuck in the Downward Spiral, and now I forget what Meme Era I had in mind.
At any rate, Minute Memes on Retro Memes, an agreeable concept.
Edit: I remember now, 'Oh Yeah Mr. Krabs' was the reason I had that idea. One of those old memes, with the music and different filters applied to an image. Basically, a Minute Meme-esque series on old essential YTP Memes, or somethin'.

An important question from a long time fan.
I'm curious emplemon, do you have any ideas on how we can have some new memes that will last a longer shelf life than a lot of recent memes? I'm talking about a good 6 months to a year here. I think that if we want to dig ourselves out of this crisis we should first come up with memes that may not be particularly funny, but will have a long shelf life. That way during the shelf life it gives us a bit of breathing room to come up with some truly dank memes. Your thoughts?
I fear that our meme well is running low and at this rate the demand will outweigh the supply and truly dry up the "pond we all drink from."
Do you think that someone with your influence could probably help the issue by inventing a new meme?

I love how the spongebob title card meme was so bad that it resurfaced years later and was made funny not by the meme itself, but the reaction to it, which in it self was suppose to be making fun of the meme. And of course that meme of "Reacting to edgy phrase on a spongebob title card" became its own meme. Layers.

It's quite sad how we haven't had many great memes during this summer, the meme economy has, and probably will, be on a downward spiral, the odds of it being fixed are very slim, memes are lucky to make it to the two month mark now, and it's hard to see a way to fix it.

Memes have Always Been about recycling. They only evolve because people subvert them and create a facet to it. The whole evolution of the rage comics was Just that, thousands of unfunny badly told Jokes, for around 9 good ones and one so unique it'd start being used in other people's rage comics.

With each passing Monthly Meme Review, I just get more and more unsettled and I feel like I enjoy it just a little less each time. Maybe it's the context of someone telling me what I can or can't enjoy but then again I agree that Twitter memes are shit. But one of your biggest gripes - that a meme is interchangeable - is...just horse shit in my eyes. A meme is going to become repetitive, that's a given. The way you present it, it's bad that someone wants to adapt a meme for a joke they had while another person could do the same for their joke. Now whether the joke is of substantial quality or interest, that's to be judged, but to hate it because people can use it to express their own ideals is just fucking stupid.

The latest generation of new memers and poopers is now being criticised by you, a veteran of the community. (not saying this criticism you're doing is wrong, just strange)

Because you know what this reminds me of, somewhat? The elitism and judgment of the Youchew veterans, who spent so much time longing for the old days of youtube poop that they shit on you and everyone else who was working hard on new stuff. You know why I remember this? Because you wrote a whole essay on the topic (which was quite good and I enjoyed very much) about how the world has changed and people need to accept that fads change and move on over time.

I think the music based Regular Show meme just got horribly misused. The original joke was that it only played a single note of a song, such as Megalovania or Crazy Frog, thus making it more snappy and to the point

Dang. Memes have been pretty bland and forgettable the past few months. I hardly even recognize the ones you showed in the vid. Kinda sucks seeing how we had a good start this year with creative memes like Uganda knuckles and Burger King foot lettuce. You can even include the “get out of my car” and steamed hams memes since they were still being used earlier this year. Now it seems they’re done just to be popular rather than be funny and creative.

Honestly I quite like the video version of the 4 panel bird meme, because I do quite enjoy just seeing what people put in there, some might be boring, It's not funny per say, but some are quite inventive. Same kinda goes from the regular show format, but that's my opinion.

However B- for Howard!? every time he shows up in a video I just hit [L], it always goes on for way too long, I cant stand the thing it's the same joke every time like "Hey, look at this funny 3D animation, isn't that hilarious!?". It was barely funny the first time and a nuisance for the rest of them.

As for the regular show one, it's a little bit more in depth than you'd think. A big contender for this meme is when he dances to Megalovania. But that particular person only had a fraction of a second of the song. Like, strictly the first note. It was funny how you could recognize it though. And I saw another one recently with Morty and Rigbiky of their band in the same format. I like the split second of songs introduction. Really packs a heavier punch, and just doesn't waste your time if you don't find it funny. A huge problem I'll have with memes of a similar variant is I'll get a grin, or something as weak, but its like 2 minutes of the same thing so it just gets annoying. The one I'm describing was so short, only one note of Megalovania, and had me pissing my pants.
