The back-up is a good idea. It just needs a little tweaking so maybe a pistol can holster on it as well.

Mossberg makes/used to make a far better product for this purpose: the "Loc-Box" It actually secures the firearm and it looks like the chamber hook prevents it from going into battery while locked up,so there's no using it against you and undisciplined/untrained kids can't hurt themselves. It's still quicker than a regular safe, but a way to make it better would be to have a biometric scan or 4 button combo like on GunVault boxes. The key seems inconvenient.

A better use would be for scuba divers in an "emergency kit" or firemen could carry it around to give to people (but it would have a heat resistant coating or something)
