Swedish band POCKET SIZE has been present on Sweden's progressive rock scene since 2010, and composer and musician Peter Pedersen is the main man from what I understand with a number of different musicians involved over the years and five albums they have to their name so far. Their latest album is called "Immortality: Cleaning the Mirror Vol. 2", and was released at the end of 2018 through Hill Mill Productions.
If you want to listen to a quality band that looks back in time for inspiration and tends to combine hard vintage progressive rock with bits and pieces borrowed from the jazz universe, this latest Pocket Size album deserves an inspection. POCKET SIZE STHLM is the brainchild of composer/guitarist Peter PEDERSEN. This conceptual musical unit was brought to daylight in early 2010. There were some ideas and fragments of songs floating in the pool of creativity. They were developed together with others.
POCKET SIZE STHLM is a pretty solo performance that could kind of be compared to what Kevin AYERS and Syd BARRETT were doing. In the same way that these icons depended on other musicians in their own voice, so did POCKET SIZE STHLM.
Pocket Size Sthlm sound would not exist without the input of all the musicians who collaborated under this umbrella. So far, a CD titled 'THE HORNPLAYER FROM THE MILKY WAY' (2010) has been released, and a digital single titled 'DUSTMAN SESSIONS' (2012), which will be part of the concept album. Last but not least, there is the super fresh LP "EXPOSED UNDERCURRENTS" (2014).
Of course, it's hard to say what the future will bring, but it's very convincing that a lot more music will come out of pocket size sthlm as founder and creative engine Peter PEDERSEN goes through an intense creative phase. The sound of the size of the Pocket is huge in scope and rich in textures. It fills a tedious void in your life - and serves you layer after layer of happiness and fulfillment!
