It was a surprise when I first watched this episode to see Discord coming back. I was pretty happy he wasn't a one-shot character. Celestia was very wise to trust this task to Fluttershy. Being able to bring out the best in others with her kindness is yet another reason she's my favorite. Glad you like Discord so much, because obviously, there's more of him to come.
I can see that Lauren Faust was gone at this point. As far as I remember, according to her vision, Discord was supposed to be getting along more with Pinkie Pie instead due to the similarities of the two, it's even hinted so in The Return Of Harmony Part 1.
One of my favorite things about reforming him is that he's not instantly all good. He's still a Chaotic little shit who likes to cause trouble. You can't undo eons of evil that easily, and they showed that through Discord. He still likes to mess with people, he's still self-centered, he's just learned that he can't always have things his way.
It makes sense for a character like Starlight to change more easily, as she hasn't been bent in her ways for an eternity. But Discord is extremely old and it's hard to teach someone like that to change.
The Lord of Chaos has officially returned! I honestly had no idea that Discord would make a comeback at first, guess you can’t keep a good villain down. I do like the fact that Fluttershy was the one to rein Discord in though and without the stare too. A very interesting episode in any case.
If you think about it, being turned to stone is a fate worse than death. You are always conscious and are stuck in one position til the end of time, or the until statue is destroyed, which would probably result in death, or until you are freed or free yourself

Discord eating paper is a reference to Star Trek, in which the character Q says the line "Eat any good books lately?". Q is played by John de Lancie, the voice actor for Discord.

To be honest, I really have a strong connection with Discord. We both love being obnoxious to others. We both want the whole world to revolve around us, and we are always going too extreme just to get what we want (or what those we care about want, shown in Season 9). Of course, we have people to bring us back into our good side. While Discord had mostly only Fluttershy, I my favorite aunt. She knew about my inability to communicate properly, and she always was there to comfort me, whether phone or in person (we live in different countries).
If asked which superpower I would have, most people would say flying, super speed, teleportation, etc, I would say Chaos Magic. I mean, that would kinda be cheating because Discord can still teleport and fly, but I would love to see the world in my view sometimes, though I'd be in serious legal trouble if I actually had my favorite power.

(uses her bracelet to turn Discord back to stone) (The Battle Brawlers and Mane 6 are horrified) Fluttershy: Discord, watch out!!!!! (Discord shields himself, preparing to be turned back to stone again, but is saved by Twilight at the last second, who uses her magic to deflect Leah's magic.) (Leah's magic gets deflected by force, and it turns a tree into stone.) Leah Rowden: (gasp) Hey! Whatever did you do that for? Why did you stop my- Twilight Sparkle: I did so that Discord wouldn't get hurt. You cannot undo what we did to him. Leah Rowden: But... This is not fair! Discord is still evil to me, and that's final! When I stop him once and for all-! Dan Kuso: I'm sorry, Leah. I guess you cannot stop someone who is on our side and not yours. We'll still love and care for you no matter what. But you should never be rude to Discord. Twilight Sparkle: Dan is right. You should never, ever be rude to Discord. Leah Rowden: But, if I can't be rude to Discord, then how long will he stay good?! (beat) Twilight Sparkle: Forever. Leah Rowden: What?! No! You can't be serious! Discord can't be good forever! He does not know anything about friendship and- Twilight Sparkle: No, listen to me, Leah. All the bad guys who are good, will stay good forever. (Upon hearing this, tears start welling up in Leah's eyes.) Leah Rowden: (whining) Twilight Sparkle: Don't cry. (Leah sniffles and is about to burst into tears.) Twilight Sparkle: Please, please don't cry! (But before Twilight can stop Leah from crying, Leah already bursts into tears.) Leah Rowden: (cries) Why?! (Collapes to the ground, still crying.) Twilight Sparkle: Please, Leah! Crying will only make it worse! (brings out a tissue) Here, have a tissue. (Leah grabs the tissue, then she wipes her eyes and blows her nose.) Twilight Sparkle: Come on now. Princess Celestia is waiting.
Personally, the main 5 were terrible in their task in this episode. I get it that he's a trickster and what not. But the issues is there supposed to find a way to reform him. But all they did was treat him like a villain that's not going to help with the reforming at all. And fluttershy is the only one who sees the problem and knows what to do about it. So honestly, I am disappointed in the main 5.

But you used the Elements of Harmony to stop him and turn him back to stone! And Equestria was saved once again! (End of flashback.) But now you can’t use the Elements to break him free from his stone prison! It’s too risky! (Starts getting tears in her eyes.) Please, Twilight! Don’t free Discord! Twilight Sparkle: I’m sorry, Leah. But it’s the Princess’s orders. I do hope you understand. Now stand back. I don’t know what will happen. We'd best keep our Elements on at all times 'til further notice. Rest of main cast: Check! (Twilight and her friends use the Elements to break Discord free. However, Leah suddenly starts rushing towards the statue and begs Discord not to come out.) Dan Kuso: Huh? Leah, don’t! Leah Rowden: (hugs the statue) Please, Discord. You mustn’t break free. You must never, ever, EVER break free at all! (However, Leah’s begging for mercy is not good enough as she hears a crack.) Leah Rowden: Wha… What’s happening?! (She then hears another crack, and soon she realises that Discord is about to break free from his stone prison.) Leah Rowden: Oh no! Discord! He’s breaking free! (shields herself) (Dan rushes to Leah, who is still in front of the statue and panicking and screaming in pain. He grabs her arm and sends her away from the statue to the other Brawlers.) Dan Kuso: Go down! (At that moment, Discord finally breaks free from his stone prison. He screams and then yawns. It was revealed that the Battle Brawlers also shielded themselves due to some serious accidents.) Discord: Oh! Ooh! Ooooh! Well, it's about time somepony got me out of that prison block. What a relief! (Snaps a twig.) (The main cast are shocked. Leah is shocked too, about what happened.) Leah Rowden: What happened?! (Walks to the main cast in fury.) (yells) WHAT DID YOU DO?! Twilight Sparkle: We did what the Princess ordered us to do! Leah Rowden: And now you have to undo what you just did! Twilight Sparkle: I’m sorry, Leah, but we can’t do that right now. And as you may know, you could have gotten seriously hurt if Dan hadn’t shown up in time to save you. Right now we have some unfinished business with Discord to deal with. Why don’t you do something else in the meantime? Leah Rowden: Okay, then, but later on, you have to turn Discord back to stone! Please! Twilight Sparkle: I’ll see what we can do. (As Twilight and the others try to find a way to deal with Discord, Leah sadly walks home with the Battle Brawlers through the Dimensional Tunnel.)

1 likePersonally, the main 5 were terrible in their task in this episode. I get it that he's a trickster and what not. But the issues is there supposed to find a way to reform him. But all they did was treat him like a villain that's not going to help with the reforming at all. And fluttershy is the only one who sees the problem and knows what to do about it. So honestly, I am disappointed in the main 5.

(Dan rushes to Leah, who is still in front of the statue and panicking and screaming in pain. He grabs her arm and sends her away from the statue to the other Brawlers.)

(At that moment, Discord finally breaks free from his stone prison. He screams and then yawns. It was revealed that the Battle Brawlers also shielded themselves due to some serious accidents.)
Discord: Oh! Ooh! Ooooh! Well, it's about time somepony got me out of that prison block. What a relief! (Snaps a twig.)
(The main cast are shocked. Leah is shocked too, about what happened.)
