Lullaby for a princess was almost done when this episode first aired. Which is amazing how close Lullaby for a princess was to the real thing. Honestly Lullaby for a princess is more emotional.

25:17 Fun fact: The animatic for "Lullaby for a Princess" came out before this season premiere and it already contained an epic fight between Celestia and Luna, with pretty much the same story. But I also heard that the creator of "Lullaby for a Princess" had to change some things in it after this premiere aired, so that it matched with the canon better. I'm still not sure who came up with this idea first, maybe no one, maybe it's just that both of them "downloaded" the same vision from the same fantasy world ;) (they both drank the white potion? :D )

Season 4 is my third favourite season after season 5 & 9. This season has so many great episodes and the plot throughout the season is pretty cool too. However a lot of people consider the season 4 finale the best finale of the show (I consider the season 9 finale the best but a lot of people haven't seen it yet since it hasn't aired in USA yet)

When I watched this episode the first time I was confused too about why luna turned back to nightmare moon, nothing in that scene made sense, but once she said her name is not luna but nightmare moon I got it. The potion Twilight drank was a lot like ayahuasca the sacred national medicine of pf Peru in it's effect the only real difference was it apparently didn't smell and taste like diarrhea and it didn't make her explosively hurl.

So interesting thing about the timespan. This is the first Summer Sun Celebration since the series premiere. So in other words, it's been a year since the beginning of the show.

I don't think what Twilight did at the end was a sonic (Rain/Twi)boom. She isn't as skilled as Rainbow who struggled to do it in season one. She more than likely used her magic to highlight her flying. Probably.

Twilight_sparkle should have stayed back as a leader to reassure the people and direct the troops to form a protective barrier against the everfree forest while her friends scouted for the tree. Once they found it they could send word to Twilight using the elements of harmony, Twilight then flys there with a royal gard escort as backup. Her job is more complicated now then just shooting rainbow lasers.

I wonder if you continue to call for Bloomberg after this episode.

I noticed that you noticed how idiotic sending Twilight, one of the elements of Harmony, away is. Between that and her return, that whole scene can be skipped and the ending wouldn't change, making those scenes entirely pointless. Notice, though, that Spike loyally stayed by her side. That is the same companion that chased after her in Equestria Girls. Who is the Element of Loyalty again? Please remind me.

When Rainbow Dash was asking her friends if this was a lost cause before finding the tree, one of her guesses should have been, "What if we explode, and then explode again?"

By the way, ever wonder if Spikes fire breath could have been helpful against those vines? I guess we'll never know.

Twilight Sparkle: Oh, it’s no use. I can’t stop them.
(gas vines spitting gas)
Twilight Sparkle: (keeps coughing) They’re way too strong for me. (one of the vines slap her chest so hard that she suddenly falls unconscious to the ground)

Leah Rowden: (runs to Twilight) Please, Twilight, wake up! (tries to wake her up to no avail) This isn’t working! She’s too unconscious to answer!

Spike: Got it! Come on, Marucho, let’s go! (Spike and Marucho run to get the others)

(The gas vines spit gas at Leah which makes her cough as well)

(Twilight takes the Elements out of the display case and puts the loyalty and kindness necklaces on Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy. Rainbow feels proud of herself when she gets her necklace put on.)
Rainbow Dash: Oh, yeah, just like old times.
(Then she puts the generosity necklace on Rarity. Rarity feels confident and proud. Then she puts the laughter necklace on Pinkie Pie, in which they both hoof-bump.)
Pinkie Pie: A-boo-yah!
(Finally she puts the other necklaces on the other Battle Brawlers and Applejack and the magical bracelet on Leah.)
Dan Kuso: Aw, yeah, that's what I'm talkin' about!
Leah Rowden: Thanks, Twilight.
Applejack: I told ya we'd always be connected by the Elements. [sighs] Now we just gotta figure out who to aim these bad boys at so we can get Celestia and Luna back and keep the rest of Equestria from becoming plant food! (stomps on vine) Any ideas?

(Applejack, Shun, Dan and Marucho avoid the other vines by sliding under and jumping over them, until the other vines get all tangled up)
Dan Kuso: Ha! Way too easy!
(Runo tangles up all the vines, except for one, in which Pinkie Pie takes care of this)
Pinkie Pie: Tada!
Runo Misaki: Pinkie, look out!
(gas vine shrieking)
(magic zap)
(the vine gets zapped by magic, causing Pinkie Pie to duck)
Runo Misaki: Huh? (she and Pinkie turn to reveal that Twilight zapped the vine)
Leah Rowden: Just in case she had to attack. (helps Twilight up as well as Spike, and the others run towards them)
Fluttershy: (sigh) Thank goodness you two are okay.
Applejack: I sure am glad you came looking for us.
Twilight Sparkle: Not as glad as I am that you found us.
Rarity: The truth of it is, Twilight, we're simply lost without you.
Runo Misaki: Same thing with you, Leah.
Rainbow Dash: Yeah. Equestria may need its princess...
Fluttershy: ... but we need our friend.

I’m having some nostalgic flashbacks right now! S4 is one of the most engaging seasons I’ve seen. The set up alone is what really pulled me in with the build up of certain events that take place within the season (I won’t go in full detail, until you get further into it 🤐).

This one really made me eager to see the rest of the season. With the elements of harmony gone, and Discord still around, anything could happen. The introduction of the tree of harmony was also quite the surprise. It did everything a season premiere should do in my opinion.

I mean, Discord IS the Spirit of Chaos and Disharmony. Getting into ponys heads and trolling them is kinda his job.

Besides, you can't expect someone to be "reformed" immediatly. Especially not with 5 of the Mane 6 still acting extremly hostile towards him. And even less so when they weren't really "evil" but rather "chaotic" (which is, of course, seen as "evil" in the order and harmony loving pony society).

I wish as a princess, Twilight could be more girly and confident but still these episodes are great. But I want Rarity as a princess. She's the best and she deserve this ♥️♥️♥️💖💖

This is a dream of every girl. Being a princess in beautiful dress and shoes, this is what every girl want. Even these girls who are completely ungirly, but inside they truly want to feel like a girl. Like a princess.

This story always has viewers shaking their heads and yelling at the girls for wanting Twilight to go back to Ponyville. But it has always been (and will continue to be) a recurring plot device that characters in the show make decisions that are clearly awful to adult fans--but make sense to them. (There are, of course, exceptions; for example the entire third act of Too Many Pinkie Pies is preposterous.) WE know the girls have to stick together, but THEY have just seen Twilight become royalty, and they're playing her personal Secret Service agents, telling her to stay put and keep her head down while they face the danger.
