"Everybody says that the whole fandom's dying, but if that means less stupid people, then sh*t, I ain't crying." I LOVE THIS LINE.
I also love this whole thing.
THE TRUTH HAS BEEN SPOKEN!!!! All this time since I joined this fandom I been worrying of wonderful musicians deleting their music and channels and I thought to myself it is too late to make a change but thanks to this wonderful song I have gained back my inspiration to move forward with my own projects like making wonderful music and even if I don't get popular then it's all good just like what the song says in One Trick Pony by MictheMicrophoneZero "At the end we just are watching ponies"
I started watching long after the fan train had already gathered steam. For once it was a story about hard work and sacrifice. Fighting for what one believed in together, taking everyone's strengths and weaknesses and building each other up, not tearing each other down. The show had layers, roots in psychology and while, for many of it's intended viewers, these psychological profiles would be the first time they saw these kinds of people but others cast their minds back into memory and it comes that much more alive. I stopped watching the show, stopped looking for the next set of pony inspired videos and music. The bickering between fans and detractors alike spoiled the whole concept that drew me to the show and it's message; it's delivery. Now that the brightest coals have burned cold and many of the stars of content creation have been driven away i have returned to the show and was still mystified and happy. I'm a grown ass man but the road to the main character getting their wings, essentially attaining godhood, drew a tear to my eye. Your message isn't ignored and you aren't alone. In time perhaps others will realize united we stand, divided we fall. This too is a lesson. It's been covered before in the series i believe, where sometimes things are best left alone and standing back and simply enjoying rather than trying to force a change to one's self absorbed grand design kills the magic. Also covered in Aesop's Fable, The dog and his bone and everything will burn in the corona of a passionate, analytic information age population. Until then the show will go on and we continue to learn how these character grow and face challenges, both mystical and mundane, with bright colors and flashy animation; the show delivers another bowl of raw happiness one half hour at a time.
Great points made in this video, I was a very enthusiastic brony at one point, but I feel like I don't identify with most of the fandom anymore because of the negativity
Thanks for this, it was a beautiful bit of honest verse, done extremely well, and with a thought-out message that a lot of folks have been missing lately.
I'm the first person to shoot down rap, but I'll be showing this off to everypony I know that's currently dealing with senseless drama aimed at other bronies.
In hindsight, this has to be the most ironic song Woot ever made, complaining about division and being worried about people doing "this and that" and the way the media perceives us, then leading the most destructive political crusade from twitter with the help of mainstream news against it.
Huh, I was going through the same thing. I was having a magical time when I came into the fandom back in 2011, but then eventually most of the fun felt like it was lost. Never really made the connection until I saw this and the Oliver Video.
The show has been reaching its point and the people around me just saying "Fuckit, Its dyeing" I still see this fanbase going strong! Infact, I have been having this conversation with a lot of people and many have turned away. As all due, I see myself part of this fanbase for good.. I know life may go on and such but its something that will stick to me. Joining just when 2012 came and watching it grow from then, Its something I see sticking around even if the show has passed.. I may see something come out of this for the future!
I am sad to say, I was one of those people. Up until recently, I was always complaining about some turn the writers made. "Turning Twilight into an alicorn was stupid," for example. Luckily, I found a few friends who helped me change my viewpoint, but still...
+Wootmaster I was really annoyed about their lack of use of twilicorn but I think since the season 6 premier they might actually be on the right track. Starlight sort of basically being made her student and all that. Looks promising at least. First time in a while. (The cutie map (the map itself) kinda helped but not much).
Yep, mostly because they haven't done anything worthwhile with it at all. Half of the time they don't even act like she's an alicorn Princess, except when it's convenient to the plot. I feel like the show is still catching up to the fact that she's changed, making the initial change itself feel all the more rushed. Like I said, I'm waiting for S5 to completely write it off. I still have a glimmer of hope.
Also, I realized I was pathetic when I uploaded my very first parody based on a little girl's show to youtube. I've come to terms with it, friend.
I made this before Twilicorn, though, so I wasn't speaking on that. To be honest, I DO think Twilicorn was a dumb idea. Sure it had potential, but the execution and subsequent follow through could have been loads better. I'll wait until this season comes to do any final judging though.
You know, I literally just heard the beat of this song minutes ago and thought "this would make a sick ass rap beat" Then I find myself here, looks like you thought the same thing.
I does feel like the fandom isn't as active as it was when it first started getting more attention in Late 2011 - Early 2012, back then, it was ALL about the ponies, I would annoy everyone with those multicolored equines. (I didn't shove it down their throats or anything, well... I MEAN HEY, THERE WAS A LOT OF MUSIC THAT I JUST LOVED TO BLAST BACK THEN!)
Even though there are still a "DAYUM-SON" amount of bronies out in the world, it just feels like something's not the same, or rather, missing.
+Comrade Lp I almost feel like the fact we're here because of Oliver is now ironic. He left because he felt everything had changed, as he explicitly states in his rant video. But as far as I can tell, while he may not be entirely wrong about things changing to some extent, he forgot exactly what this song is talking about. We all follow his videos and the show because we like them. He watches the show and made videos for assumedly the same reason.
Talk about laying down the truth of the matter, This fandom egos getting fatter and fatter , I know some of us don't care for the latter , But is this fandom reducing to tatters ? - hopefully my ryhm is bullshit and tht I am proven wrong
See, I thought I knew everything about the fandom, but there is still more behind it that even I have yet to discover. I'm glad I was informed. And I feel ya man, that crap really pissed me off as well. Also, keep doing what you are doing man, I love it.
Congrats, you were the first to unravel my super sekrit message at the end of the song! Basically, Yamino was a tumblr user who contributed to the "Derpy is Ableist" drama that led to Hasbro changing the episode The Last Roundup so that her name was no longer spoken. I'm STILL mad about that shit. So I decided to sneak it in.
How am I just finding this great song! Added to iPod this song is Preaching THE STRAIGHT UP TRUTH!!! I miss The good ol days
