His video "The Truth About Starswirl" finished off his theories on Alicorns. If you ever get around to doing more of his videos, that's definitely a must to come back to. His Flurry Heart video came before a lot of contradicting evidence and details. Shadow Play pretty much demolished it all, but he was able to figure out a much stronger theory that makes much more sense, even now that the series is done.
I love Sawtooth Waves's channel. He comes up with clever theories, that, while sometimes turn out to proven untrue, do get me thinking. His video on the princesses didn't age well, but it was pretty good for the time. I remember seeing it when it first came out. For his cutie marks in threes video, my theory is that 3 is the default number that signifies in the mind the idea of a group. Like the old saying goes, 2 is a coincidence, but 3 is a pattern. His analysis on pony names was interesting. I never really thought that the writers thought it through, but it's fun to come up with headcanon explanations. Same thing with the idea of cutie marks in the human world.
in pinkie pride, in the intro song the cakes said "she planned our foal shower where we played all sorts of games, having so much fun as we choose pound and pumpkin's names
29:43 Fun fact: That drawing was of some of the early season writers' OCs, including Amy Keating Rogers (2nd from the left), Meghan McCarthy (in the middle), and Corey Powel, best known for Sleepless In Ponyville (on the far right).
[Technically Speaking] He was "The Brony Notion" back then... -> Shappire Shores is not a blank flank. She uses make up to cover her cutiemark (to protect the secret about her real identity); perhaps to prevent her family getting involved (either with her personal life, or from getting harassed by fans).
The backstory of Princess Cadence is a book which is a confirmed cannon to the show.
Basically Twilight still isn’t sure about being a princess and Cadence tells her her story about her past.( it’s a children book) basically an earth pony town found her as a filly and a kind family adopted her. She found out that she could use the magic of love without a horn. Due to this town being the capital of love an evil scorer used the gem called the crystal heart to cause hate and consume it. Cadence went to face her to save her village and defeated her gaining a horn. She gives the crystal heart to twilight which actives a curse because Twilight is doubting herself as the Princess of Friendship. It turns that doubt into hate and effects others around her. Her friends all band together to get the heart away. But only working together with spike they were able to break the spell
I always thought Celestia and Luna came from a tribe of alicorns. The alicorns used to live in a city not too far away from Canterlot and when a disaster occured, the city came to ruins and Celestia and Luna were the only ones who survived. The show itself never gave an explanation but judging by the journal of the two sisters and other sources, that's the best explanation so far.
The only reference (inside the show "Friendship is Magic") that other alicorns may have ever existed is in "Castlemania" [S4E03]; where Spike gets spooked out by a broken statue of what looks like a "real horse" version of an stallion alicorn.
I heard a theory that celestia and Luna are immortal because they are beings of the universe (sun and moon) and twilight and cadence (flurry heart) have long life spans but can’t live forever. That’s why In G5 twilight and cadence are gone. Your probably gonna say “then if celestia and Luna can live forever how come they didn’t come in G5”. Well they probably turned back into the sun and moon, since being fragments of them. That’s why the sun and moon move on their own now.
6:52 So true. Since that video is old, Sawtooth didn't know that in the Season 9 finale Twilight would have a wavy mane too, thus yep, they were not old enough.
24:45 Sawtooth: "I mentioned in a previous video that if original human Twilight went through the portal, she would be a unicorn..." PonyBro: "Oh yeah! What happened when she did that?" Exactly that. Sci Twi was a unicorn in the pony universe. Also, congrats on remembering the name of the special that was from, Spring Breakdown.
26:28 "Is that book canon?" Twilight Sparkle and The Crystal Heart Spell was written by Gillian M. Berrow, who has written for official comics and was the show writer for several later-season episodes (The One Where Pinkie Knows, Fluttershy Leans In, Daring Done?, Grannies Gone Wild, The End in Friend, and The Point of No Return). Therefore, I would say it is.
Gillian M. Berrow is also the ONLY writter of DHX [Friendship is Magic] who had some direct participation on the current tv show "Pony Life" in Boulder Media. She was consulted for the writting of the intro song lyrics (likely to "fact check" the new asociations given to each pony that differ from their original "Elements of Harmony"). -> She is in the credits of every episode.
He made updates to that Alicorn theory as the newer episodes came out, it evolved with the time. lol
I think it would've been possible for modern equestria to not know about an Alicorn civilization if it only existed thousands of years ago. Maybe Twilight since she's a bookworm. But yea I agree the Princesses could've probably told them, even if they wouldn't visit it soon.
Add my voice to the list of those asking for My Kingdom for a Horse. It's like an Anthology for season 4, but all done by a single person, which is incredible considering how much work must have gone into it. Also, if you like video game references, you'll love this even more than the regular Anthologies.
– In the Season 4 Episode Pinkie Pride, Mr. And Mrs. Cake sing about how Pinkie planned a party where they chose Pumpkin and Pound Cake's names ("She planned our first foal-shower, where we played all sorts of games/Having so much fun as we chose Pound and Pumpkin's names!")
– We SEE Princess Cadence NAME FLURRY HEART.
- In the Season 7 episode "The Perfect Pear", Mrs. Cake reveals that she got her Cutie Mark "Back when I was 'Chiffon Swirl'."
The video came out in July of 2015, while SEASON 5 was happening, so the first example had already happened.
Hey dude I've been watching your videos over the last couple days, great reactions man! You should check out this short SFM called Memories by Nutrafin.
The mention of Alicorn parents for Celesta and Luna was stated in The Journal of the Two Sisters and Meghan McCArthy said on a twitter back in 2013 the Twilight was not going to outlive her friend when she became a princess but we can toss all that away. Since we all know the end of the show.
Celestia and Luna were claimed by Lauren Faust to be born Alicorns and the book Twilight Sparkle and the Crystal Spell notes that Cadence was a Pegasus and became an Alicorn through Celestia.
The season 6 premiere just did a complete 180 on her statement so it wasn't his fault that his theory was so harshly disproven there because the information he worked off of was canon up until that point.
@@joshblackwell8632 Luna's line "It's beyond even our understanding" puts that to a question, suggesting that not even they were born Alicorns. (BTW, I haven't read either Crystal Spell or Journal of the Two Sisters but I'm going off what I know through others who have read it). If Luna hadn't said that, then yes, Celestia could have just meant that nopony in Equestria has ever been born, and if Celestia and Luna aren't from Equestria, then of course they would have known about Alicorn births. But if it's supposedly beyond their understanding, then it's more likely that neither were they born Alicorns, thus contradicting the book. Granted, these books were never confirmed canon 100% of the time, but for the longest time, the creators hinted that they were canon, bringing up the book in conversation as if it was indeed canon.
@@carlosresendiz8683 Yeah, but it's quite obvious now that that's not the case. Twilight will live for quite some time and I doubt Luster Dawn will be an immediate replacement.
Honestly I don't think they 180'd at all. Celestia and Luna were alicorns before equestria was made according to the "Journal of the 2 sisters" as well as a few other things. So Flurry heart being the first born alicorn in equestria's history and Celestia and Luna not being born in Equestria would make a lot of sense.

Interesting reaction, but it's kinda weird to watch a reaction to analytical videos. Also, about "Celestia an Luna are not natural born alicorns" theory: they didn't said that, they said "Equestria never seen it". And they are obviously older then Equestria, so...
