As nice as that would be, Microsoft has long since given up their old full OS theming back when they officially retired the classic shell. They were already leaning that direction in XP when they only included three skins at launch but no icon changes or sounds.

Once they released Aero, customization was reduced down to just changing the color, saturation, and transparency of the one (albeit beautiful) theme. Once Windows 8 released with even less customization than Windows 7, it was kind of clear where we were headed.

same. I like Windows 7 themes from MS website as a lot of them has custom sounds for almost everything. there was one theme that has acoustic guitar sounds and sadly I could no longer find it. didn't expect MS to wipe most of them around the time where technet and msdn were scrapped

And change the fonts for certain parts of windows, too. Don't forget they still need to make the message boxes consistent with the rest of the UI, in some areas I can still find Windows Vista message box icons and in others the redesigned ones are found.

Classic shell can change system files to make it custom

Obviously it is still an "advanced users only" type of thing since theme patching and usage can still cause system corruption, but it is possible.

NEVER. especially the fact that they recommend moving all your files into onedrive, such as the desktop folder, documents folder, and pictures folder. i wonder why it doesnt move the videos and music folder.

Personally for me I use my system for heavy resource intensive works and stuff, and going through the hassle of typing passwords, addresses, credit card info etc. every time I do something online is basically a huge hinder to my workflow.
(ofc saved passwords are only available how else would you want it? save once and get across multiple devices. that's all. Some actually need it for being productive elsewhere, especially when using this feature several times. typing or copy pasting each time is a big time waste. different people have different workflow and use case scenarios. so lets be real not 'everyone' hates it.)
And moreover, using multiple devices at the same time, seamless integration is a must. My specific heavy work scenario demands that. So I don't really get what you mean by online account is for casual users.

The offline account does not offer absolutely the same experience, in fact, it also says "limited experience" or can you not read you privacy purists (what a shit)? Why do you think it says it? Because many of the functions are limited, in fact: Widgets, Windows Insider Program, Integration of passwords between devices, Microsoft Office (the original one, not that of the poor open source thieves). Of course it is limited. all of your previously used settings, saved passwords, usage history, sync across multiple devices, store downloads for paid apps (if you only download free ones, or pirate software, then you're good)
All of these will unavailable with the offline account. it is basically for non power users who just want 'a computer' to work.
For the others, especially for people who use multiple devices, seamless sync and integration along with everything else is a must.

Then, Windows litterally didn't gave me the choice when I bought my laptop, so I made one and now I'm using Microsoft Authentificator to be safe.
And what I noticed is nothing change, like I had all the same things but now, Onedrive can't stop sending me notifications

For those that can't or won't switch to Linux a great alternative would be to make a custom Windows 10 iso with NTlite. You'll still get your Windows but without the bloatware and run it with less than 100 processes.

In windows it's mostly gui. When you download something its usually packaged in .exe but in linux there's separate packages for different distros and there's also things like flatpaks etc. Linux is great but it depends on what the user does on their computer.

Oh yea, when you click on any files and right click it, you see that there's amount of option list you can choose to affect the app itself. When they keep the new list menu, it can consume many spaces and cause mess to other people. But still it's still in beta so what can you expect.

1. I posted the comment above AS MEME, not to offend anyone who uses Online or Offline account. It was intended to be meme, and it made the shitstorm some people have to read.

2. It's user's preference whether will they use Online or Offline account. Person that installs Windows is given 2 choices; Offline account with Limited functionality, or Online account with access to OneDrive, same desktop on multiple PCs et cetera.

3. You cannot make someone else switch to Online account if they are not comfortable/okay with it and/or it's functionalities (same applies to Offline account; you cannot make someone who's using Online account to switch to Offline one).

4. Microsoft does NOT enforce you to use Online or Offline account, it's, again, user's choice (as stated in the parts above).

5. It is also user's preference if they will get Microsoft's products with account, or just get account with no products enabled.

In fact, writing passwords on paper is more secure than password managers. Why? Because, if any password manager gets database-breached, you are fucked unless they hash their data/hackers know how to remove hash/decrypt shit.

@@belikebrett If you're gonna try Windows 11, pull your main drive out physically and try it on another. That way you can make a note of your old settings or save them as a preset depending on your BIOS and then switch back if needed. It's not very safe to boot legacy nowadays anyway. Secure boot should be required really... It's not hard to use.

What I'm saying is, don't fuck with your entire system just to mess with boot settings. Simply toggle between UEFI and Legacy/BIOS until your drive boots. If nothing from either one, then there's a different problem. If you have the option to toggle between CSM try that too as I'm pretty sure that allows MBR booting under EFI.

a good idea is to not actually install it on your PC/OEM, install it in a vm like virtualbox or vmware, or turn on UEFI, but if you dont - go into your BIOS and change the boot to windows 10 (or you should see it in the boot manager)

Even motherboards with H61 chipset had UEFI support. And H61 was released like 12 generations ago! The biggest problem could be TPM 2.0, because even most of the X99 platforms only supports TPM 1.2 extensions. But afaik., they already removed the mandatory TPM 2.0 requirement.

How? You have the power of the internet do research. What type is your partition that has windows? It NEEDS to be GPT, NOT MBR. You can use a simple CMD command to change this if you need. THEN you can run UEFI. Now if you changed it without this, then all you have to do is reset your bios, by taking out the CMOS battery with the PC off for about a minute. Then it will run the default values allowing you to boot into Windows again.

Some computers still use BIOS.

Every computer released within the last several years has UEFI.

@@jimg8887 Unfortunately, I've tried it and the setup failed completely. My UEFI pointed out an error with the secure boot keys, and then, at the next boot the setup rolled back all the changes and dropped me back at Windows 10 Dev 21390.

@@polytelus originally I had to install by making my own install disc. Worked like a charm.
Download and setup windows 10 on a bootable usb drive. Go into the sources folder and delete install.esd.
Next grab a windows 11 iso, mount it and go into the sources folder. Copy install.wim and then paste that into your windows 10 sources folder.
This will use the windows 10 installer but install windows 11. If your an insider select the dev acct and even tho your cpu isn't currently supported it will allow you to get updates.
I've got the jumper ezbook laptop with the N3450 cpu and it is as smooth as can be. Only issue I've ran into is the setup panel is slow at opening. It has been taking about 10 seconds or so...

@汪展誼 Nah, I just don't like a super-sized menu that's so unstable that it gets cut off more often than working correctly... They REALLY need to fix that particular bug. I mean, it's funny to see here but imagine how people would respond if that was in the release versions. 😂

Also, touch screen users deserve an array of options as well. I never liked the lack of easy to reach features on virtually every mobile OS. It's not as helpful as the companies think it is... This is coming from someone who uses touch controls virtually every day. Oversimplified doesn't equal easy to navigate. If you're gonna combine the two types of OS together, use the good parts not the worst ones!

As is, it's actually less convenient for BOTH types of control.... Neither party is truly benefiting fully from this. If they made the buttons a bit smaller (but still somewhat larger than the old one) AND used the old options it would be much, much better for BOTH TYPES OF USERS. It would be just as practical as before and be slightly larger to help make touch controls easier if they basically just used the old menu structure and sized it up slightly. Make it like 1.5x bigger, not 2x or 2.5x bigger...

As for the explorer bar.... erm... no solutions straight away. It's also way too simplified, but that one's probably gonna be harder to balance probably for both users...

The icons for the context menu are nice, but the spacing and scaling are too much.

It also probably doesn't help that the menu is constantly cut off and glitches frequently...That's probably going to be fixed though. It's also already huge enough to easily block smaller windows, yet it seems to have less options available without opening ANOTHER sub-menu? Kinda odd to hog so much space just to have a less intuitive menu design.

The explorer bar looks like it's tailored towards mobile users specifically, which is kinda a double-edged sword. It's almost TOO simplistic to be practical for PC users... If that makes any sense.

It's definitely the result of testing the waters of a mobile/PC OS hybrid. The buttons are larger to accommodate touch screens... but erm... It's incredibly clunky for mouse users.

Mainly the huge buttons in that menu, and the fact that you must to go back to the "legacy" one for a desktop refresh, for instance. The idea that you have the "legacy" one to go back to is in itself terrible, since it will cause Windows 10 leftovers in 11, if the older ones weren't bad enough

@@francescocastaldo7469 imo the explorer context menu size is too big, i think the menu that appears when you right click the windows button/go into a submenu is a nice size, not too big but also not too cramped, it has nice room for icons and it also gets larger if you touch and hold on that button so perfect for touchscreen devices

I used that version and it had issues but once I upgraded to 22000.51 it's much better. Only issue so far is setting panel is a little slow at opening. Takes about 10 seconds..

Updating through insider should be way smoother than that...

If you want a 100% secure ISO, register your microsoft account as an insider, go into the beta channel and you should get an update, you can also try the prerelease channel but i doubt win11 is out for that already.
