I feel like 2b would just end up dying from software issues. I know Mojang is aware of 2b2t and they have shown that they don't really care about it existing. The non java bans are only for realms and only specific featured servers because those all are hosted by Mojang and Microsoft so I feel like this ban may come to java realms I also feel like it will never hit private servers like 2b2t since it is a private server and private owners can take actions when they want. But great video I like your opinions.

Even though I don't play 2b2t I've been watching it for around three years now and the only reason I don't play it is because of it's queue. But I would still be pretty mad if the server died if like minecraft shuts it down or youtube decides to try to destroy it.

In terms of Mojang. There will be probably a distinction between official (safer for kids and supported by developers) and unofficial (the community owned) servers. Respecting all sides of the MC community.

With the new TOS for Java, it seems like it is only banning individual players and not entire servers. So I think that the server will only get shut down if HouseMaster gets banned, but I think that he could only get banned if there is some kind of report feature that the community will weaponize.

really interesting video. if Mojang starts banning server Ip off of the original game, it would be bad for them because now people see a use to have a cracked minecraft account to join a server that mojang banned. it could cause a stiessand effect senario. That is my take on the mojang banning servers theory.

The allure of 2b2t, being its unique personalities and the crazy things people do on it, rather than the old map, could cause the server to die if it were to disappear. High exposure dilutes and ultimately diminishes the population of older users, which decreases the appeal of the server in the grand scheme of things, so perhaps it could die that way.

I like fit for the exact same reason people hate him, he does over exaggerate, but thats what makes him so intresting, he is the best storyteller i know

even just in minecraft, if the server shuts down, everyone will just move to 9b9t or something, when that shuts down, move to the next down the line, it could go on the entire life of multiplayer minecraft

So no one's going to mention a scenario where a backup fails or gets corrupted along with the map and results in a server reset? That would drive almost everyone away I would think. There's probably something in place to prevent this from happening but the map is terabytes in size now.

If MinecraftOnline hasn’t died yet, I doubt 2b2t will any time soon. MinecraftOnline just turned 10 years old this past August, is even older than 2b, and has been stuck on 1.7.10 for several years with a major low tps problem, and it’s still kicking. I have little doubt 2b2t shall remain as well.

I would argue that for 2b2t those server guidelines would probably never reach them just because of their obscurity. Again as massive as 2b2t is in the more hardcore Minecraft community it’s still just a small blip in the general community’s radar. Even if those rules get pushed hard onto Java edition I don’t think there’d be enough power to actually manage all of these anarchy style servers. The gets put in the spotlight scenario is probably more likely, but also could just be as unlikely again do to its relative obscurity.

I think the most likely way the server dies is by it literally dying. Like the server itself getting too corrupted, or it just has to reset. Now this isn’t saying that the 2b2t community would die, or that the server as a server/community would go out, but the world and physical server is probably on its last legs, and it having to reset could possibly kill player interest. One of the major draws of 2b2t is that it’s the longest running anarchy server. It has lived through countless update and game changes, and has suffered an extreme amount of abuse by the player base to boot, and it has continued to chug along, but eventually all that abuse and data will add up. Like a year ago there was a area of the spawn that got rather corrupted causing chunks to copy, switch, and reset. Now I don’t think this has been linked to the memory of 2b2t leaking, but that is a possible threat to the server. If the server has to reset that could possibly kill the want to play for a lot of players since it wouldn’t be this long running bastion of anarchy, but would just be another anarchy server at that point.

Honestly whatever does it in will probably be the last thing we thought would do it. Hell maybe a flood will hit Hausemaster’s server room and just wipe 2b2t like that.

i have some theories on how 2b2t will go down
1. hause's computer decides to commit die / he tries to update and the entire server file is lost
2. hause doesn't want to put up with the community's bs anymore and pulls the plug
3. something happens that makes Minecraft no longer famous / interesting (Microsoft kills the game, too much censorship, too many updates made it stale, drama shows up in Mojang, it became cringe, etc.)
4. some epic xxX noob destroyer hacker Xxx group pulls off the biggest prank ever for the lulz, to point the server has to shutdown forever

I personally don't think the blacklisting thing is likely to ever be a problem due to a lack of Mojang/Microsoft(I'll just say Mojang from here on) being able to implement such an idea.
I may be missing something but I can only think of 2 ways a server blacklist would be implemented
1) Mojang's account servers just don't accept requests from the 2b2t's ip
2) Mojang makes some change to Minecraft's source that will make it so Mojang will have the client ask Mojang's servers if it can connect to a particular server

the first method is laughably easy to circumvent by just turning off online mode and setting up some authentication plugin though it would probably lead to a bit of chaos for the first week or so
the second method will probably not be implemented and if it is almost certainly won't be back ported to 1.12. Ironically Mojang's unwillingness to get their shit together regarding optimizations means that them using this method to try and ban 2b would without a back port be completely pointless. Even if in what I view to be a very unlikely situation of Mojang back porting a server blacklist through all relevant versions was done there's nothing stopping people from just making a mod that removes it. While this would be very painful for the server's finances and player count it wouldn't directly lead to the death of the server though a not enough money for running the server situation which you talked about in the video could occur

though I may just be completely wrong and am not even thinking of the possibility of Microsoft modifying Windows to make it impossible to connect to 2b2t that way in addition to working with ISP's to make completely sure that 2b would be completely unplayable or some more reasonable thing I forgot who knows.

I love me some 2b2bt but the queue officially killed it for me. I literally cannot even get past queue before queue itself crashes and I'm back in line again.

I find it a little unlikely that Microsoft will intervene unless they do change the java edition server guidelines since 2b2t has gotten a lot of publicity over the years and its very likely they are at least aware of its existence in one way or the other and would have done something if they wanted to by now. I just hope there's no more merging of bedrock and java because bedrock is really turning the game into something it should never become imo.

People honestly haven't given that much thought about what Microsoft would do. If the server somehow generates enough bad publicity for Microsoft then it wouldn't be long until Microsoft's lawyers go after housemaster. They may skip blacklisting the server and go straight to legal proceedings. On top of all of that, every news agency out there would be covering the story. In my opinion, it will only take one story of a protected group being bullied on the server to go viral for the server to be shutdown.

I think Microsoft unplugging 2b2t is the most likely scenario.

While getting "canceled" is definitely a possibility, I think it's far more likely that the server will just become financial unsustainable the file size increases and the costs of running the server increase. Also if the 1984 style eternal wars end the server will lose most of the priority que money and will shut down.

Thanks to the work Mohamed did with there legalization of there Minecraft property before the company was bought by Microsoft, and even after the EULA, 2B2T and the players break no rules, we are allowed to mod our games, while yes they are “hacks” they are seen as mods/extensions to the normal game. But the server itself, it follows the EULA not providing any form of pay to win. Understand to that when the game was created, it had the intention of freedom of speech, and while other versions might censor swears in chat, Java edition has never seen this u less a server owner wants it that way, because Minecraft as a game was made with the idea of your choice, your person and wants in mind. Not some corporate fuckery.

Microsoft/Mojang could blacklist the server sure, but 2b2t runs on an older version of mc and those changes would only affect newer versions so it wouldn’t do anything.

Something else to consider is that at some point, 2b2t's map could legitimately break.. The world file corrupting would definitely bring about the end of 2b2t because most players are there for the history

Sorry for the second comment, but perhaps you will enjoy what I have to say. 2b2t.org is a special server, I'm sure most of us here can agree on that. Things have changed, and like you pointed out in your video, there are many ways that Minecraft can just shut us down completely.

I don't know about any of you, but in my two years of playing on this server, I've grown connected to it, one reason for this is that it literally turned me from a sensitive, annoying prick, into someone better. And because of this, I've been thinking really hard over the past couple of months, even before I watched your video, and I've come up with this idea of how we can borrow time for the server.

This server's map is 10 years old. Think about that... this server is a decade old, and not only that, but there are things on this server that are older than most of the kids who play there. I have had this fun little thought about 2b2t being like an alien planet of a kind. Different geology, history, and culture, than what we have here in the real world. Now to the normal person, I may sound like a Fitfag, but when you really think about it, it is truly fascinating. Perhaps this might motivate Hausemaster, yes, even he who gives no shits, to try and preserve his server in time of trial, and hardship. If there is a way to get to Hausemaster, we must find it, and quickly too, we are running out of time, either a hit article will be made by the liberal media, or the consequences of the Biden administration will catch up with us, or more specifically, inflation.

But this is just a thought.

Some time hausmaster will make server even more unplayable than it is now that majority of ppl will quit and stop paying for prio queue and hausmaster wouldn't be able to pay for server. Haus can't make stable server without removing vanilla features and making server almost unplayable.

There is a small 1.16.4 anarchy server (not 2b clone) that is able to hold 390 players at once with stable TPS, no vanilla features removed and NO QUEUE. Admin of this server doesn't want monetize his server in any way, he just want to make a good server that's actually anarchy

Since it is possible to develop hack clients, it would also be possible for those to allow connecting to a blacklisted server, or play on this server with a blacklisted account. However that would probably be server-sided. The much more likely scenario for me is one you did not mention. I believe the world file corrupting to a point where it will no longer allow the server to run is a more likely scenario, since the world is everything the server has to offer. Sure, there might always be a way to "resurrect" the world file with standalone editors, but this world file is terabytes in size. If there is too much corruption, it would be too much work by hand to be viable. Probably a new standalone world editing program would need to be developed that can handle this huge world.

Maybe an argument though: if everybody agrees you can cheat than it is no cheating, for the exploits part you may be able to deny the existance of exploits and call them all features, for the hate speech one you may be able to pass by the players signing something that they are of age or something.
