I think this episode was needed because Rarity and Rainbow are the most underused pair and they've barely had moments together in the series expect for Rarity Investigates.
Rarity's statement about being ahead of the curve makes sense though, I mean she's a fashion designer and trend setter - the moment a fashion product starts being popular it's the moment fashionistas are already 'late' if they don't have a new style or look to present + trendsetters/fashionistas would avoid finding themselves wearing the same thing as others in the first place
I look back at this episode and think of my relationships with my friends. We don't have lots of things in common, but we still get along and share our interests. I forget that sometimes.
7:44 Rarity: "You ruined my gems!!" PonyBro: "They break that easily?" Some gems do, actually. Hardness (resistance to scratching) and toughness (resistance to fracturing or breaking) are two different properties, and are not necessarily related.
This episode kind of embodies the problem with the weaker episodes of Season 8 (and some of 9); it just feels like it should have happened in an earlier season. After all these characters have been through together, it's bizarre to see them almost call it quits after a few trivialities. Your "What?... WHAT?!" at 8:51 sums it up completely.
I can believe Rainbow dash & Rarity would need to reconnect. Because throughout the series Rainbow dash does seem to have spent a LOT more 1 on 1 time with AJ, Fluttershy, Pinkie & twilight than she has with rarity or Spike.
@@Icy-be5vl 1.) There is nothing wrong with that. There are alot of boys and girls who try to maintain their tough exterior to keep from getting embarrassed or to keep up their image By hiding simple stuff like this. This is normal. Plus there have a been few times where she happily agreed with going to the spa. (Ex: Season 7 ep 2 "All bottled up")
2.) She never called fashion useless. She just has her preferred style of clothes. After all she has complained very little about the outfits rarity has given her over the years. Also to be fair to RD, waiting for someone to pick out clothes can be Very boring especially if they are being slow & indecisive about what they want which was how rarity was being.
3.) Men and Women can have huge ego that has nothing to do with being a tomgirl or being toxic. RD has her ego because of her upbringing & because she is the fastest pony in equestria. Its no different than how a world champion can & will brag about being the best because they are. After they are the one holding the title they earned with their ability. RD's ego is no different. So this is again normal. Her ego also isn't as big as it was used to be.
4.) Except RD doesn't hate everything girly otherwise she would never go with her friends to the spa (Which she has been doing since season 1) or be around Rarity at all given that she's the girliest of the Mane 6. Not to mention that RD is a jock and Jocks of both genders have a harder time showing that side of them.
And RD didn't start the issue between them first, rarity started it did by not actually caring about RD's interest at the start. She actively started working in the middle of the buckball game not once but twice paid absolutely no attention as to what was going on. Even going as far as to say "Finally" when RD cancelled the game. Showing she really didn't care about the game.
Overall both characters were in the wrong for their actions toward each other but RD was not being toxic towards rarity. She genuinely wanted to have fun together which is something she calls out during the cave scene.
@@joshblackwell8632 1 She hides the fact that she likes go to SPA. 2 In this episode she proved how toxic she can be when she said that fashion is boring and useless. 3 What about her ego? 4 Toxic tomboys are girls who hates everything what is girly, there is a difference beetwen hate and not being interested in this things. only thing about this episode is one, wtf they ended things way to quickly. theyre young functioning adults. not 5 year olds. and two, this episode shouldve happend sooner. just weird to tackle the fact these two in particular are so different so late in the series, but besides that cool episode. stressful at first seeing them fight, but as they got along during the adventure it was lovely :3

It wasn't a great episode, it wasn't a horrible episode, but it was OK and a little better than a few of the episodes I saw before that in Season 8
The biggest problem with this episode is that they already did an episode with this message, Uncommon Bond, and did it far better than this one did it. Beyond that there's just the way it completely ignores all of their character development, which is par for the course with G.M. Barrow's episodes.
@@alinarizvanova934 I don't have problem with tomboys as long there is not so much of them in games or movies or in kids shows and as long they aren't toxic. As long they respect dresses. High heels and other girly girls and girls who loves to be girly.
