@@TheBigNoobVR I never said that. I said that a BIOS system can boot from a GPT disk, provided that some empty space is left unformatted for the bootloader to reside in, and UEFI-MBR is even easier, since you can just make the ESP once your disk is in MBR format.
@idogaming3532 bro. No, you can't. Do you realize what an MBR and GUID are? The MBR can only be used on an MBR formatted disk. and a GPT disk can only be used on a GPT formatted disk. How do I know this? Experience with VirtualBox and an actual computer (not mine). They can't coincide. And yes, I will say that the lack of drivers is true. And all UEFI Systems with parts even in the creation of it won't work. MBR can't be used in a GPT disk. As UEFI is trying to use invalid asm code. Same with GUID on an MBR disk.
@@TheBigNoobVR you realize that all a BIOS system cares about is the first few megabytes of the disk, and a UEFI system cares about the ESP. You absolutely can boot a UEFI system from a MBR disk, and you absolutely can boot a BIOS system from a GPT disk. The reason it won't work with DOS is because of a lack of drivers.
@idogaming3532 I'm not sure if you can understand the writing as you had a hard time listening. Have fun trying. While formatting the disk as MBR is a workaround, it's important to note that not all UEFI systems allow for a straightforward transition. Some UEFI firmware implementations might limit the ability to switch to MBR, and the process can vary between different motherboards and PCs. There's a difference tho. What you're listing are all virtual machines. NTVDMx64 is not - it's a translation layer, just like the one used to run 32 bit programs on 64 bit Windows. The implications are HUGE - this thing is basically running natively, so programs have access to standard system resources. This means full backwards compatibility, all the way to the original IBM PC from 1981!
you CANNOT in fact run original 16bit doom on ntdvm because this is an emulator without the graphics accelerator/adapter or you need a really old gpu idk about that aprt
I’d strongly suggest using DOSBox for Doom. NTVDMx64 is cool but it performs much worse than DOSBox due to its weird workarounds and methods of emulation.
Sadly, no. I'm guessing that NTVDMx64 has a similar attitude to the original NTVDM when it comes to DOS extenders like 4G. If you don't know what 4G is, it's a aforementioned DOS extender, a sort of "program shell" that is designed to run before the actual program. It enables Protected mode so more than 1MB of memory can be accessed, as having only at most about ~600K just wasn't enough. It's usually used in later DOS games such as Doom. Problem is, to do this, it needed direct hardware access. As such, it doesn't play well with Virtual DOS Machines that run in emulated hardware. Not like it would've run well anyway. Just grab a Doom Source port like GZDoom or Chocolate Doom, it would run better anyway.

WAUW! I am impressed! I was waiting for a solution to make dos programs work again on windows without extra software since I started using Windows Vista! It was a pain to get it installed, Windows kept telling me not to trust it and also AVG tried 3 times to put .dll's in quarantine, but ones installed, it worked! DOS games runs like crap, but it does run! I am amazed, but is there a way to increse the speed, so games become playeble?
So... Windows ME could’ve survived? Mistake Edition could’ve been a Minor Enhancement? Everyone hated on Windows NT, but it was a necessary sacrifice, and Windows ME was the tribute.
I'm pretty sure the issue is related to the video mode, if you switch to fullscreen native vga 320x200 mode any game will work fine but i'm afraid modern graphics cards do not allow that
Hello i need Help, i have 2 programms one is dos based with (Fullscreen mode), both running in win 98. I tried both ( win 10x32) with Default NTVDM (MS) one works great, the DOS based says missing .bgi driver. And in Win 10 x64 with your NTVDMx64 the dos progamm works and the anoter don´t.
Well i am thinking how NTVDMx64 can add in kernel, and i was search better in internet and i can say NTVDNx64 is very awsome thing. The Kernel and other stuff from NTVDM is in windows 10 now.
Somehow I can't get this one to work at all, not even after a new install with another exe compiled from the source code. It just says "can't run (program)". What should I do?
Hello Enderman, looks like Leecher has an NTVDMx64 version from April 2022 but I can't figure out how to compile it. I think yours is from June 2019 correct?

This is not worked. Actually I can launch exe now, but it just writes about it cannot be loaded (On real PC - Win 10 20H2 rus)
It's worked on an older win10 version 1903 english. It launched a Doom' setup, but didn't launching Doom itself. Looks like theat's happens because the system is not supports cmd fullscreen mode. This is happens with others dos apps and games which fullscreen mode is required as Duke 3D or BFTC's main menu
It did screw with the GUID Partition Table of the drive to where my UEFI BIOS would not detect it, so I booted into the UEFI version of Easy2Boot and found the drive and it was able to boot normally from there, but I have to do that every time. And no people, its not a virus, thats just your antivirus software being stupid like crap defender.
yeah.. but only online. Features like downloading dos games, dos iso´s won´t work and it will emulate poorly because it is web-based. The better and faster way is now NTVDMx64
Windows 10 x64 has Windows 32-bit for Windows 64-bit (WOW64, also the explanation for SysWOW64), which is basically a wrapper/emulator for 32bit Windows programs.
So we're basically building a custom part of the Windows NT kernel called NTVDM. Is it me or MS is drunk with all the open-sourced, user-made bullshit up in here?!
