@zebroification Most people buys the game only for the multiplayer's sake. 
Cod franchise has created one of the worlds best fps multiplayer experiences and it become popular and addictive in the mainstream crowd. 

Activision gathered attention with the fourth game. They nailed the gameplay with modern warfare 2 and from there it went down. They have tried to add some innovation to the gameplay/story, but it wasnt always that good. 

So as said, before gameplay experience and "everyone plays it", are the main reasons for that

CoD Racing confirmed.

That's not the only thing HL2 was better at. Just my opinion though.

Titanfall uses the same engine as HL2 (modified as fuck) and looks better than this...

I remember when I ran Half Life 2 fine on 1GB ram and a cheap ass video and graphics card back in 2004. COD: Ghosts recommends 6GB of ram and a high end graphics card and still looks even worse.

@That Guy on The Street  Original HL2 looked very different than it does today,  but even that doesn't change that the original HL2 still looked better than this.

The render distance was made much larger and many of the models are updated (including world maps, the cliff level for instance), the fog complexity was changed and some of the textures too. Mostly HDR and Phong differences here; http://steamcommunity.com/app/220/discussions/0/613935404218333100/ oddly I can't find the images comparing the cliffs in the game that I had, although if I do find them I will post them here if you want. The old cliffs looked similar to something you'd get from the original gldsrc engine at the time.

You don't need a beastly computer to render, hell my Surface Pro 1 with a dual core i5 and 4GB RAM renders basically any project no problem, the issue is it takes half a decade with advanced transitions/effects. But yeah he most likely has a decent PC to do these videos on a regular basis.

Even with all the issues, i've been having a tonne of fun with BF4 on pc. (Gave it a week before buying it, knowing itd be shit on release like every other battlefield ever). But me and my mates have been playing obliteration lately, and its fucking great.Sound cuts outs sometimes, crashes wayy too fucking often for an online game that tracks progress, but god damn it's fun

I guess you haven't played it. You can't join a friend's squad if you're not in a match (a feature which was implemented years ago). The scripted demolitions of buildings and houses are laughable. They changed all the controls for no reason, and made them similar to Cod's, there is a veteran option but it's not good enough. The textures aren't loading properly in some maps. Ps3 version is freezing every 4-10 matches. They said they'd also fix the "bug" where you and your opponent die simultaneously. Guess what, they didn't.

Battlefield 4 was meant for PC, PS4, and Xbox One... the PS3 and Xbox 360 cant handle it so it takes a while for textures to pop in and the freezing thing is because they didn't buy enough servers; for whatever reason. BF4 is still Beta so don't judge it quite yet.

Video Games aren't all about Graphics, but they're a damn important part of the game. 

Graphics doesn't have to be how realistic it is, it's the quality put into the art, the environments, the attention to detail. Ever see the game Journey? Easily the best graphics this generation, no contest. Look at how beautiful the landscapes and environments are and the attention to the detail of your character. That's important to games. Imaging playing that if everything was done with low-res textures?

10GB is a ridiculous lot for code. It could be assets maybe, but in either case having that much unused content would be ridiculous and would be glaringly obvious to not omit before a final release.

@Soup Can I actually hyperbole'd it up a little bit (around 1GB->10GB). People actually reported that if you check the amount of empty lines within coddog's files using Cheat Engine, there's at least around 1GB of just empty place. I forgot the exact video but it's about unlocking the FoV for the game and explains why it's so big.

Same goes to Titanfall, around ~10GB of unused language packs on PC version compare to console (peasant)'s version. It seems like devs these days just release the game without looking through everything for at least one last time.

Not to sound like an ass, but that still doesn't really make much sense. 1GB of code is a lot and it's likely the entirety of the game doesn't add up to that much, and 1GB of empty lines = 10737418240 lines assuming each line is just a linebreak(one byte).

Try to grab a cracked version if you did already buy it then use cheat engine and see, it's the best to do it hands on.

It's not the consoles, it's the game. Have you seen how good Killzone Shadow Fall and Battlefield 4 look on the PS4?

+private user It was supposed to be, but they scrapped it and released it on the 64 due to the realistic textures and popular demand. The 64 also had a good processing power and quad core gaming CPU, so Ghosts was able to tun better on it.

Why exactly is my opinion discarded for liking those games? If anything those games are much better than CoD by a million percent. 

All you're doing is insulting these games with no backup evidence. 

Osu! improves peripheral view and hand eye coordination. While improving on these skills you are also listening to good music and playing along to the rhythm. There is no problem with this game at all. Original, addicting, and replay-able. 

Prop hunt isn't a game, its a gamemode within the sandbox game "Garry's Mod". There is nothing wrong with this gamemode either. Its a fun party game where you and some friends can get together and screw around in a game of hide and seek with props. 

CS:GO isn't filled with toxicity but does have its dose of toxic every once in a while. But what game doesn't? CS:GO: Players who could grief, players who yell at you for not knowing how to play, and douche bags who think they are better than everyone. 
CoD: 9 year olds screaming profanity into their mics. 

I'd choose CS:GO over CoD any day. 

Not only that, CS:GO's multiplayer is more balanced than CoD by a million percent. CoD uses XP to rank up and unlock new weapons. A YouTuber WarOwl pointed this flaw out, its that newer players don't get all the guns and good equipment higher level players get making an unfair advantage to those with higher ranks. And don't even get me started on the "score streaks". How is getting blown by an airstrike out of nowhere fun? Its fucking not.

Ghosts was bad, but i think Advanced warfare was a huge improvement compared to Ghosts.
The thing that really just killed it for me was finding out that they just reskined modern warfare scenes and called them new.

I haven't played since BO2 on PS3, but Ghosts is free for the weekend on Steam so I downloaded it. 75% of my problem with BO2 was the community, but so far with Ghosts on PC every one seems to be more relaxed(Actually heard GG for the first time) and I haven't encountered any one quickscoping, camping in one spot entire game, riot shield + C4 and all the other lame tactics you see

I do have to disagree with CS however. I know CS has a reputation for every one taking the game very serious, but I think it's just exchanging the issues with one community for another. Not really worse. Now LoL on the other hand..

You're a fool. The textures in this game are absolutely abysmal, years out of date. You'd expect something far better from a 2013 game but alas, they have not delivered. 

People expect demo performance/quality because THAT'S WHAT A DEMO IS. Presenting a product and lying about what they're actually going to deliver is an enormous slap in the face, so it's perfectly reasonable to expect what you've seen in the demos.

Almost every game that's capable of scaling supports 4K, whether or not they have the textures to back that up (which Ghosts does not) is another matter.

Look, you're clearly trying to flex what little knowledge you have about technology and computer hardware, and it's cute, really - but leave the criticisms to people who actually know their stuff, ok? Ghosts rightly deserves the criticism it's receiving because it really is a horrific product. The expectations from the community that you talk about is quite simply this; make a good, new Call of Duty game.

The only part of that expectation that's unreasonable is expecting IW to make a good Call of Duty game, since we've seen through years of CoD tripe that it's almost impossible now.

Impossible standards. I am sorry that the idea of anything higher than a 512x512 texture luls you into a stupor however, when fans and 1-4man teams create games with far greater graphical fidelity than the biggest gaming franchise, which hypes the fuck out of its 'next gen' textures and claims to of had separate textures created for PC and then comes out with 2-d SPRITES you can expect a little bit of backlash, 

The reality is I expect this to run on everything from a 5850-780 flawlessly and with scaling. The same way that games such as RAGE and Bioshock do. Do I expect those cards to output the same level of fidelity... no. But I expect the 780 to rock the house @ 1440p and the 4850 to do OKish at 900/1080p. 

Bioshock in-particular runs on a potato with a screen attached to it and it looks fantastic.  That is what happens when you use this thing called 'colour' and add 1/2k+ textures and scale them down instead of scaling up arse. 

You do realize that when devs are building the models and adding textures its at very high resolutions. The engines used by IW, Treyarch, Epic, Valve, etc all have been creating their games at higher than 1080 for over a decade. They optimize it (dumb it down) to match console strength. What you see is a very lazy attempt (possibly a set macro that is ran to make a port) to remove the cap.

Take your own advice and leave the criticizing to people who know what they're talking about. I find it hilarious how many people are bitching about the 4K textures. You do realize that unless you have a monitor capable of displaying 4K resolution, you will see next to no difference between a 2K and a 4K texture...right? Assets are made from high to low, all devs that even think of using 2K textures will first create the texture in 4K, then downsample to a lower resolution to get a higher pixel density. When making 4K textures devs tend to work in 8K and so on.

Additionally, the people bitching about 2D fire also don't know what they're talking about. If current-gen consoles were able to have environments with full geometry, high resolution textures, and advanced particle systems, then we'd fucking see games with a high amount of geometry, high res textures, and advanced particle systems. Since current-gen consoles run on ancient hardware, devs have to spend a lot of time optimizing environments and making work-arounds to make an environment look better and at the same time run well, it's a greater challenge for the CoD devs since their console versions of the game are required to run at 60 FPS. Why render out an advanced particle system sitting in a corner when you can instead replace it with an animated texture that costs less in terms of technical resources. Those saved resources can then be spent on something that makes a much bigger impact on the environment, such as additional geometry.

As for your comment on tech demos, I am quite certain you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. A tech demo serves no purpose other than to showcase graphical features that are possible. IW has modified their engine to allow for new graphical features, and Ghosts makes use of all of them. The issue however is that when making an environment that has to play well on 5 completely different platforms, devs have to make graphical compromises.

Of course, you've probably never even made a game asset or even worked on a project before. You're just one of those serial complainers that has to bitch about something. The people calling IW lazy are fucking idiots, do you people think they get paid to sit on their asses and do nothing for 8-12+ hours a day? Corners are cut due to time constraints and the devs have no control over that. The fact that they even have their game out on time every year is an impressive feat alone.

It had standards before console popularity soared.  That was about the time Splinter Cell started sucking and when DLC was first introduced.  I enjoy console games, but they haven't exactly helped the industry.  I guess was an inevitable fate that a more simplified approached would be used for $$$.

Probably another one of the reasons I'm so lenient towards the quirks a game might come with. That doesn't necessarily mean I'll gladly accept a horribly made game just because I spent money on it, but I've seldom come across games like that. Call of Duty may not be all that good, but it's far from the worst games I've ever played, even from a technical standpoint. I do believe people are just blowing things out of proportion just because of the name and fact that it's fun taking the piss out of Call of Duty. 

CoD Ghosts requires 25 fucking gigabytes, that's almost double the size Blops 2 yet it looks even shittier and continues using recycled textures and animations.

No emulator. There is no source code for the operating systems and for that reason it'd be extremely hard to make a emulator that could play those games and be compatible with your cpu. Not to mention that all console games are dependant on several services which we don't have.

As someone who played Ghosts during the free weekend, it really does look this bad, while having a poor framerate too on high end hardware. People who play CoD are selling Ghosts like crazy.

I played during the free weekend and it does look this bad. The field of View is awful and it ran like crap. I got a around 55 fps, but the mouse control wasn't smooth. While I get a solid 65-80 fps in bf4 which looks much better visually.

Hahahahaha not by 2013 standards, this game looks like shit considering the PC version (which is the version Ancient Reality is playing on can scale to 1080p, which is better than the 7th/8th gen console versions which is only at 720p this applies to Advanced Warfare) common, COD4 looked better and played better than Ghosts.
