Something like this happened to my grandma. Every week she would buy a lottery ticket with the exact same numbers, she did this for years. One time she and my grandpa were going on vacation and she wanted to stop and buy the ticket on the way out of town, Grandpa said that they didn't have time to stop, so they didn't. The lotto was drawn while they were gone and ended up being her numbers. She would have gotten $3 mil (in the early 90's)! She never let him forget that.
I love this story, because it is both for and against gambling. On the one hand, if the man had gambled he would have been rich, but really the woman was also gambling by not buying the tickets; her gamble did not pay off.

I think a better moral of the story that could possibly be applied into other aspects of life rather than Just gambling with money would be "There's no chance of success without taking a risk at failure."

Like, every single day, he's giving a pound away, she just sorta realizes she should just hold onto these because at the end of the day, he just stays in his seat all day and doesn't move anywhere, and she's the one who has to go and get the tickets.
So she just decides to start pretending to go and buy the ticket, and instead puts the pounds in a little box. Every single day, she takes the pound and walks -- pretends to go and get the ticket, but actually goes into her bedroom and puts it in this little box.
A year goes past, two years go past, three years go past... She puts so much money in this box, and she's kinda excited to one day sorta give it to him, and make him realize he could have won more money if he hadn't done any gambling whatsoever.
(I like this idea that she's got this lovely plan hatched out for him.) She's just about to go get the box and she has this big box of like, a thousand pounds, and walks into the room only to see him watching TV, and the numbers 1 2 3 4 5 have come up on the lottery.
And he's like, "We're rich!" and she's like, "Oh no!"
(It's a funny little story, apart from the hidden little message that I am sending there is, "Gamble!")

My mate won £10 on a scratchcard yesterday, only to spend that money on five more scratchcards and not win anything. This goes against the gambling moral here though...

MOM'S FRIEND OMFG. Okay so every single week my mom's friend and her mom chooses the same lottery numbers every single week and they've been doing this for years. One week, my mom's friend wasn't bothered getting a card since they had never won anything BUT THAT WEEK THEIR NUMBERS CAME UP. So when her mom called her all excited and was like "the numbers came up!!!" My mom's friend had to tell her that she didn't get a ticket. Idk if that story is actually true but my mom told me it awhile ago

The moral of the story isn't to gamble. The moral is rather if you put something in to a goal every single day, you will one way or another, get something out of your efforts eventually. Never give up.

I've only been to a casino once and it was alright. I'd say walk in with a budget (mine was $20) AND DON'T SPEND MORE THAN THAT. If you keep winning that's great! Yay more money. The end of the story? His wife thinks she's helping him by not "wasting" his money on lottery tickets and is trying to teach him a lesson by showing him he could have saved a lot of money if he stopped gambling years ago. But then when she's about to surprise him with the £1000 he's "wasted" on tickets, he ends up thinking he's won £1mn, and all his gambling paid off. Except it didn't pay off because his wife hasn't been buying his tickets. So it's up to you whether you think you should gamble because there is always a very very small chance you could win big but think of all the money you spend in the process! I hope that explanation was clear enough, I'm not much of an explainer lol.
So his wife will have to some how break the news to him that she fucked up, and they'll probably get a divorce and the wife can have the depressed pet rabbit or something. Maybe that can be the sequel video if Dodie runs out of ideas for videos.

One time she and my grandpa were going on vacation and she wanted to stop and buy the ticket on the way out of town, Grandpa said that they didn't have time to stop, so they didn't. The lotto was drawn while they were gone and ended up being her numbers. She would have gotten $3 mil (in the early 90's)! She never let him forget that.

Like, every single day, he's giving a pound away, she just sorta realizes she should just hold onto these because at the end of the day, he just stays in his seat all day and doesn't move anywhere, and she's the one who has to go and get the tickets.
So she just decides to start pretending to go and buy the ticket, and instead puts the pounds in a little box. Every single day, she takes the pound and walks -- pretends to go and get the ticket, but actually goes into her bedroom and puts it in this little box.
A year goes past, two years go past, three years go past... She puts so much money in this box, and she's kinda excited to one day sorta give it to him, and make him realize he could have won more money if he hadn't done any gambling whatsoever.
(I like this idea that she's got this lovely plan hatched out for him.) She's just about to go get the box and she has this big box of like, a thousand pounds, and walks into the room only to see him watching TV, and the numbers 1 2 3 4 5 have come up on the lottery.
And he's like, "We're rich!" and she's like, "Oh no!"
(It's a funny little story, apart from the hidden little message that I am sending there is, "Gamble!")

You're right, it was pretty difficult to hear and there might be people who actually have hearing impairments etc. that will find it even more difficult. The end of the story? His wife thinks she's helping him by not "wasting" his money on lottery tickets and is trying to teach him a lesson by showing him he could have saved a lot of money if he stopped gambling years ago. But then when she's about to surprise him with the £1000 he's "wasted" on tickets, he ends up thinking he's won £1mn, and all his gambling paid off. Except it didn't pay off because his wife hasn't been buying his tickets. So it's up to you whether you think you should gamble because there is always a very very small chance you could win big but think of all the money you spend in the process! I hope that explanation was clear enough, I'm not much of an explainer lol.
