The crab in Rarity's mane was actually a reference to an art trend of Rarity fighting a giant crab. There's tons of fanart for that, to the point where it became a meme. Crabs are Rarity's arch nemesis.
For me this is one of the stronger eps this season. I really like all the details they put into the three versions of the story that at first show someone being absurd and then show from their perspective why they did what they did. And how the three perceived events differently in general. Plus the comedy was very good.
If the episode ended with Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy meeting up with the friends as they got back to shore, suddenly not talking to each other. Along with Twilight saying, “So, how was the flight school reunion?”
RD and Flutters frown at each other and turn away.
“Here we go again.” Twilight sighs. “Yup.” Spike annoyingly says as they look on.
0:57 Twilight: "It's just a shame that Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy had to miss it for their Cloudsdale flight school reunion." PonyBro: "Oh shoot! They should have made an episode about that." The comics already covered that, MLP: Friends Forever #18, by IDW.
A bunyip is a strange creature from ancient Australian mythology...though unlike the one in this episode, they're usually a lot more creepy and dangerous, even said to eat humans.
When Applejack acted like a pirate I couldn't stop laughing. It was hilarious and that was completely out of her character. She's a farmer not a pirate or sailor.
Nya, I don't know if someone has already told you but the bunyip is an Australian mythological creature, like other creatures that have appeared in the show, such as cancerberus or cocatrice ^^
I do wish that they'd come up with a better explanation for the length of time that seemed to pass between the sandwiches going into the water, the piñata setup, the storm brewing, and the boat sinking as compared to the relatively very quick chain of events for Twilight's demonstration.
I had a really bad day- and now I can finally watch your videos to make me forget about my horrible day. Also, I've been wondering if you have an Instagram account and maybe a pony character that resembles yourself? I would love to make fanart!
Goldenheart playz I don’t have an Instagram for PonyBro, only my personal one (you can still add me there if you want to!) but I do have a PonyBro Twitter and discord
Yeah, this episode was . . . .odd. I admit to still mostly being very confused after the first time I watched it. Only now do I kinda get what really happened, and that mostly . . . nothing that any of them said. They barely made it off shore before the sandwiches got dumped in the water, and the bunyip capsized the ship. The rest of it was just their imaginations, in their anger and annoyance at the others, adding things to the story thatdidn't happen.
As for the Bunyip, it is a creature from Australian folklore that is . .. neither that cute NOR that harmless.
Honestly, I would have preferred an episode about Rainbow and Fluttershy at their reunion. That sounds more interesting and relevant. This just felt like a comic story.
i label these kinds of episodes as the "entertainment episodes" where the writes makes a pretty generic premise and just have fun and play around with it. the execution is purposely exaggerated, made overly dramatic and make it wack as much as possible for entertainment value. examples of these kinds of episode in my opinion are:
lesson zero fake it 'til you make it p.p.o.v. power ponies fame and misfortune etc.

I think in actuality, Pinkie did jump in randomly to try and take the map. In all three, she does that for no reason, so maybe she's at fault.

1 like0:57 Considering the fact that Rainbow Dash dropped out of Flight School, an episode about this reunion could have been pretty interesting.
1 like10:00 - I like how the porters board the ship to music that seems to have been inspired by Ravel's "Boléro." I don't know why, but it just tickles me.
