Well, Emp, you are an odd fellow but I must say, you make a good meme review.

I thought this would be a parody of Behind the Meme, but the editing and deconstruction of the memes just makes this so creative. Thanks, Emp.

This meme has had a slow burn, not rising meteorically like so many others, but it has been given time to mature like a fine wine. The length and video format means that effort has to be put in, and no one word appears enough to flood the market with Steamed Hams but every time they say X Y happens. The scene itself is so enjoyable that you're willing to watch it again and again for the new memes.

Wow. This was actually pretty good. I thought this would be more "ironic" and *"edgy"*, but clearly it's a well-researched and balanced overview of memes.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand the complexity of steamed hams and its place into the clockwork of our universe and its mechanizations.

Wait, all that info was in less than a minute? Holy shit, any other channel would pad the fuck out of that! This ain't no "Game Theory"...

Very good start! You’ve taken into consideration all of the things you criticized Behind The Meme for and avoid them, (whether naturally or not, this IS a channel dedicated to memes you should know your shit anyway). You answered the question we all had, you did it quickly and precisely but with just enough room for someone to explore on their own.
Side note: my favorite steamed hams video is either the LA Noire version, the Telltale Games version, of the Great Gig In the Sky version.

This is actually a really useful series, I had no clue about this meme until I saw this. Good stuff.

Just the sheer aesthetic style of these videos have already made this series, which has literally just been born, the best meme series I've ever witnessed. My only criticism is that 60 seconds doesn't allow for much explanation of how the meme started or what exactly it entails. But steamed hams is a pretty big meme with such variety there's no way to describe it justly, so just watching them would be a better way of getting into it. Still, I'm looking forward to what the future holds for this series!

ahhhh, quick and informative. Good to see a meme review that isn't just a rip off of thatistheplan, or normie targeted. Steamed hams might be in my top ten fav memes now, this one seriously hit it out of the park. It's like you said, it asks more of people then most memes. If you have a very high standards then people wanting to live up to those standards are going to put in the work. this isn't just a meme where you can photoshop someone's face onto someone else's body, you have to actually load up an editing software and get into the nitty girtty. My fav steamed hams are probably the guitar hero one, the plup fiction one, and the rapping one. I think this meme works so well because it's actually pretty long, while most memes are either just a picture or a 5 second video, this one is an entire scene from the episode, gives people a lot of room to work with, they can make it as long or as short as they want. I'm looking forward to where this style of meme will evolve next.

This is a pretty similar idea to something I mentioned to some friends a while ago. The nutshack popularized the but edit as a meme genre, then we are number one encouraged more variation, followed by the bee movie and its edits that took great amounts of effort and time to produce, and finally we arrive at something with actual thought put in. Rather than doing a simple "every x is y", people are changing the narrative of the scene in deep, fundamental ways.

This show is great and i love the presentation.

Steamed Hams is the only good meme to come out of 2018 (or at least, rise to popularity in 2018) that doesn't die within literal hours because of the reasons you described. You simply can't take a random picture and slap on a shitty quote and repost it as an image over and over again, you have to get creative. It's the We Are Number One but with way more freedom in how you edit it.

Hell, even the Crash Bandicoot Woah meme was at least tolerable because it allowed people to get creative and original with how they used the meme. In my opinion, Steamed Hams was the last truly good meme. It wasn't just an image and catchphrase, and like you said, it asks it's creators to think as delightfully devilish as Skinner does. I've noticed a grim trend in memes as of recent. Among Us, Morshu, Grubhub Ad, and DaBaby are the most recent memes I can think of that prove this. Memes like Morshu and Grubhub HAD the potential to be the next evolution of The Nutshack, We Are Number One, and Steamed Hams, but ultimately faded into the grave for the next image+catchphrase to come along because a ton of "people" milked the jokes dry. And don't even get me STARTED on Sus memes, which started off as a form of counter culture to rival Among Us memes, only to overshadow Among Us itself not long after.

WHY DO ALL YOUR VIDEOS GET MORE LIKES THEN VIEWS?!??!?!???

The advantage Steamed Hams has over other "But edits" is that there is no easy way to make one, there is no phrase that is repeated over and over like, for example, We are Number One or The Nutshack, with those memes, most "but edits" were simply "The Nutshack but every Nutshack is X thing". With Steamed Hams there is none of that, the person creating the meme has to think creatively and be clever with what they do, and with that we have pretty much taken out all the repetitive unfunny edits and have only great edits.

This was a great first episode, direct to the point with great editing, I'm really looking forward to this series.

It’s a nice meme n’ all...but every time I hear the name I get all hungry because of the steamed hams.

Why people still don't refer to hamburgers as steamed hams in everyday settings, despite the fact that it's obviously a reference to this meme, is beyond me.

I think you could say the same thing about the Nations of the World (alternatively known as Yakko's World) memes but more like the older ones like We are Number One. As well it combines two types of memes (the ytp but-edit crowd, and the history memes crowd) into one that both groups of people use.
