hey you'll probably never see this but I figured it was worth a try to ask an expert like yourself, my roommate is also my landlord and has been screwing all the roommates in the house out of wifi, we aren't tech savvy like he is (he knows C++ and stuff like that) and we have all been having horrible connection with streaming, myself with my gaming, and other just even seeing the wifi. Is there some sort of way I can improve the wifi to my room or somehow release the wifi so no one is having their connection limited or metered. we are pretty sure he's hoarding all the bandwidth for himself and his girlfriend. Check which brand of router you are using. Any brand will obviously come with a mobile app. These apps provide you with the feature to limit bandwidth on connections within the Wifi Network. Chances are your roommate is using the app to screw around with you guys. What you can do is search how to reset the router by checking the make and model of the router. Then use the default password to login to the router[most of the time it is username: admin, password: admin] and then limit your roommate's connection.
DONT USE KALI ON YOUR PRINCIPAL PC. Use it on VM, because KALI isn't thought for daily use... important daily features are disabled for default, and for activate it you need to rewrite the kernel

And you can use different linux distros for hacking... you can install the KALI tools on different distro
