I used Rectify11 a while ago and I can definitely see the reason why Microsoft didn’t force dark mode on legacy apps. While most built-in apps work great, some third-party apps just don’t, to an extent of unreadable text. This breaks the backward compatibility of Windows.
@@waynenathanieltheanimator Actually, no. Absolutely not. Maintaining just 1 cleanly built render engine is much easier than maintaining a dozen broken ones.
Especially when Microsoft got 98% of it right almost 25 years ago.
Have a seat, it's story time. Skip to the tl;dr if you're too cool for massive walls of text.
When Windows 95 released, 2D accelerator cards were the standard. They were dedicated hardware designed to get a perfectly Vsync'd, smooth, hardware-accelerated 2D desktop experience. They were, to a limited extent, the 90s equivalent of modern desktop composition.
And the original Windows 95/98/Classic style was extremely flexible, with the ability for the user to tweak every individual font, every individual foreground AND background color, every object size, there was nothing left on the table, and it would get applied to E V E R Y T H I N G. Even apps designed for Windows 3.1 and older wouldn't miss out on the fun. And most importantly, this meant all apps were built using the same objects and blueprints and left all the actual rendering work to Windows, meaning Microsoft could update the looks of everything as they went, and even change the fundamental way windows rendered to whatever the future brought to the table.
And that they did. XP changed the appearance of all controls, and every app followed suit. Things were working as intended. But it wouldn't last for long. Microsoft had locked the juicier parts of XP's theming behind the msstyles system. Buttons, titlebars and most other objects were now BMP raster images and could not be dynamically resized or recolored. This would backfire on them since it made it harder to implement dynamic DPI scaling in Windows 8 later, when tablet PCs came to the forefront.
The OS incentivized users to remain on the stock Luna theme, because the engine was no longer flexible enough to create cohesive custom themes with. Scaling the titlebar or the scrollbars, and changing any background colors looked like shit, so thousands of values became fixed and unchanging. And people couldn't make fully custom styles without hacking the OS because they enabled signature verification. For what amounts to a bunch of BMPs. It's pathetic.
As a result of Microsoft's pathetic design, apps now expected the stock white background color, and began breaking on everything else because black windows wasn't an option that came with the OS and users could randomly apply on a whim. To make matters worse, completely custom skinning and odd-shaped-windows became a fad, and a bunch of Windows XP apps engaged on it. Apps that are now forever stuck on their dated design, and cannot be automatically fitted to modern specs because they didn't follow any standard design guidelines and didn't offload their rendering to Windows in the first place.
XP also came at a time 2D accelerators were disposed of, and GPUs became all 3D and complex, so XP couldn't afford to bundle GPU drivers into the CD storage space they had available anymore, so after 2D cards fell off of fashion and 2D+3D cards became all that was available, they instead defaulted to the horrid, non-accelerated, non-Vsync-capable, generic VBE driver. This left the desktop to a full software renderer until the GPU drivers were installed.
Developers entered the habit of using 3D polygons to render 2D graphics instead of using 2D-specific hardware, and after MS noticed the redundancy, DirectDraw was obsoleted. This would have been fine, if not for the fact that instead of upgrading all old 2D sprites to 3D polygons, all old hardware-accelerated 2D was locked to the software renderer forever. It would've been trivial to get Win32 accelerated properly again with just a basic 2D-3D translation layer, or even upgraded further to use all of these new GPUs' potential, but no. Vista had to half-ass it.
The contents of Win32 and Winforms app windows are still software-rendered to this day, with only the window borders and the final desktop output being drawn by your modern GPU. WPF and windowed DirectX suffered an even worse fate -- rendering on the GPU, copying the rendered image to system RAM and made available to GDI only to then be copied back to the GPU VRAM for DWM to composite with. In Windows Vista and 7, Microsoft added tons of ~wicked effects~ to the GPU window compositor, but at its core, it's still an inconsistent mess that combines software and hardware rendering for no justifiable reason. The only reason it exists in the form it is today is because we're talking about a nasty corporation rushing OS releases out the door.
Microsoft would extend the Win32 common controls set during Windows 95 and 98's lifespan, adding new control IDs that apps could now use to this renderer. They had no reason to stop doing that before they broke everything on XP. From XP onward, developers would see the rise of Windows Forms, WPF and now UWP, and that's not even counting all the third-party window renderers.
Win32 was more than adequate enough to be the only windowing engine, extended over the years directly (and, since 32-bit color mode, was even able of storing alpha values, which Vista and 7 later abused for Aero)
Things got increasingly patched up on later Windows versions, now we have a Win32 dark mode again, although its reach is unfortunately limited because of XP's hubris, and UWP uses DirectComposition, which completely skips GDI and renders fully within DWM using the GPU, as all things should be. But most non-web desktop apps are still software-rendered, and the core issues are just buried way too deep now. It's impossible to fix things now without a full API rewrite and some major app breakage.
Tl;dr: Win32 was 100% futureproof. But Microsoft did it dirty and left it to rot anyway. They brought this mess on themselves, through decades of rushing Windows releases instead of doing things the right way.
@@3lH4ck3rC0mf0r7 Because it will make the development more easier. If they start from scratch and The bugs will be problematic. So Re-inventing the wheel will be a solution. And also this is the fact since Windows NT 3x. All NT versions from NT3 until 11 are Windows NT
@@michaeldesanta317 Ironically enough, Windows 98 supported dark theming just fine, and many dark window themes for it came out of the box. Our family PC even used one of those themes back in the day. It wasn't rare for people to apply one of the dozens of available themes, and then poke around, and set up custom titlebar colors and stuff for themselves.
Dark theming (and any nonstock theming, really) was fundamentally broken on Windows XP, because the fancy new win32 skinning wrapper it came with relied on hardcoded image resources and was explicitly locked by Microsoft to refuse to load resourcepacks that weren't blessed with their digital signature (and wacky custom windows became a fad for some reason, remember Winamp, Windows Media Player and MSN, later Windows Live Messenger?), and MS even began automatically applying bilinear filtering on XP wallpapers (making GIFs not aesthetically attractive as wallpapers) and forcing JPEG compression on all wallpapers starting on Windows Vista, breaking GIF animation entirely, meaning a lot of stuff that worked just fine on Windows 98 either outright stopped working with the new skins, or looked disastrous, meaning people stopped using custom themes. You could set animated GIFs and webpages as wallpapers in Windows 98, so you could get just as fancy with them (if not even slightly more so, considering Active Desktop allowed you to add extra links and buttons to the desktop that you could actually CLICK on) than you can with Wallpaper Engine nowadays (a tool that has to literally hack into the desktop to achieve similar functionality to what was available out of the box before) Just imagine if setting looped videos and Active Desktop (built around EdgeChromium instead of IE) was a feature in modern Windows, nobody would need Wallpaper Engine.
Even MS Office can never bother to follow Windows design guidelines.
And since MS now has to keep supporting broken XP-era apps that followed on the mistakes they themselves created, we can't have dark theme on all of Win32, despite the fact that, architecturally, support was there from the very beginning.
MS should've never broken the usability and flexibility that was there before, and leveraged the control they have over the behavior of their own APIs to keep design language across the whole OS consistent, unified and modern, even for older apps. Even Windows 3.x apps could've had the underlying Windows APIs they rely on updated to look no different from modern Win32 apps, without breaking compatibility. They just had to be smart about it, adding and updating to the old renderers instead of continually creating new renderers from scratch.
Exactly! Thank you for saying it. Even in this video we saw plenty serious of bugs, and not all of them are as easy to fix as they seem on the surface.
Not to mention the billions of little things that Microsoft has to consider because of their business customers, but Rectify11 can ignore completely, and noone will even notice
@@HusseinAl-Dalawy they did rewrite some builtin apps (yes taskmgr) to support the new API. However apps and dialogs have to support the APIs by themselves rather than Windows changes the behaviour of old ones

They just needed to do it to all built in apps like task manager and to something like recovery mode when you enable dark mode it should effect all system apps and not 3rd party apps since they have their own dark mode (most of them do at least) and they usually just detect what mode you are using to change the light so it wouldn't have hurt them to do these simple stuff

Question, since Rectify11 v2 is an OS in itself, while v3 and it’s counterparts are modifications to the system, couldn’t that mean you could merge the two into one?
I'm honestly amazed. What Microsoft couldn't do in 3 years this company did it in a matter of months. It's such a good improvement/tweak/OS, I'd be happy to use this as my daily OS. Btw when I try to open Rectify's website, it shows the windows 11 logo for a second and then it goes to a white screen and nothing happens. Tries this on all my devices, nothing works. Any idea what's happening? Or is this a server issue?
This project actually makes me want to install windows now (obviously Rectify11). Just 1 question, how do you set your username to not be administrator. Or if it just throws you into the default Admin account to create your own, that wasn't really explained. However, I applaud the work that they did and thank you for showing it to us! My problem with Windows 11 is honestly the amount of control that is stripped away from the user, With 10. 8.1, 7 and Vista. You had full control over what your PC does and how it operates.
The dev team behind this really outdid themselves. They put MS to shame with this. The most embarrassing is the that this dark theme is far superior and faster than the MS solution with their stupid Edge renderer. Also imagine using MS Edge WebView to render your taskbar. I agree with a lot of criticisms about Microsoft's products, but Edge absolutely isn't one of them
I mean, I understand that it's annoying that MS is trying to push it down the throats of their users, but calling it garbage absolutely does not do it justice. If people would look past their emotions, it's actually a really good browser(the Chromium version, the legacy version was hot garbage)
It's fast, integrates well with Windows, and has some really useful features(such as the immersive reader tool, which removes all ads from websites and gives you an interface which is easy to read, and gives you a lot of customisation with the fonts and font sizes, the background colours etc.
Hell yeah there were, which is why i just sticked to vanilla win 11 and just downloaded startallback, it also makes everything in dark mode without modifying systwm files
The only thing that was genuinely good was the recovery screen. It's a mess in Win 8+ and this looks like a straight upgrade.
But I hate many of the changes they made, and I'm seriously skeptical about how robust the dark mode implementation is, and if it ever could be stable enough.
I know better than to download a strange iso from God knows where 😆. However, you can disable bing search easily their registry keys if you do a simple search. I have been doing that since Windows 10
No TPM! You can install this on older PCs incompatible with vanilla Windows 11. If you like Windows 11 but can’t stand how Microsoft excluded most of the world’s legacy PCs from it now that’s possible. The lack of cumulative update support means this is literally an LTS version of Windows 11. Then again, do you really want to update Windows all the time to the latest build? The developers of Rectify11 have cleaned up Windows and made it what Microsoft couldn’t build: a clean and stable Windows minus the bloatware and half baked interface. Worth watching to see where the project goes.
i don't get how ungoogled chromium is far better than edge, they're literally the same thing. edge does a superb job for pdfs though it sometimes ask you to change your default search engine to bing.
I must disagree strongly with one thing. Edge is super good. When it was new, when it was just starting up without even chromium engine, it was trash. An much time was still trash. But I'm using it for like 1 year and it's absolutely amazing. Super fast, super smooth, I also like pdf tools-very usefully. I recommend Edge to everyone!
VERY interested in this. Would be willing to clean install from my current Win10 install into this if it works well later in development. I have an older ryzen 5 1600 Processor though, so hopefully that will work without the AVX support, although I want to upgrade it anyway. Very cool.
Windows 11 but better? PERFECT. Now where's my XBOX apps? Where's all that, hm? At least a lot of important stuff is back. Wonder what the new photos app looks like in rectify11..
Time to install in vmware Here how me install it: Me: downloads iSO file Download: tooks 15 hours Me: puts to VMware VMware: unable to check start windows to check Me: starts Laptop: EXPLODES Me: dies
That mouse cursor sucks so much. It doesn't have a tail at the bottom, so you don't know which way is the right side up. And making the cursor rounded is a bad idea because it gives you less precision. Apparently, there's a bug with the video driver as well. Rectify11 is also pretty unstable right off the bat. Poor quality operating system and bad design choices, worse than Microsoft.
This is unrealistic but I would have wanted that win11 actually begun from scratch. Leave all legacy/everything behind and actually redo everything. Keep windows 10 supported for like 10 years so you can keep legacy if you need it but you actually have a new and consistent OS. Windows wont get anywhere if it keeps dragging all the legacy stuff with it. You want a new fresh windows? Well Microsoft have the capital to do so.
So many weird things here that I stopped watching; Windows 11 Task Manager is already fully dark mode if dark mode is selected. The right-click menu learns your most common actions for the specific extension and so on - providing you with a more streamlined experience if you just use it for a week or so.
Bashing on things before understanding them is not really a way to improve on them.
The worst part is that as soon as Microsoft finds out they will issue a cease and desist letter and shut down the project because they don't want to be embarassed further, an earlier example is Sigma OS, which fixed Windows Longhorn to the point of something usable
i am switching to linux on my new pc, im really tired of windows looking like 4 different operating systems in one. some apps and icons look modern and some are windows xp-7 icons. and nowadays, apart from ui changes, windows is terrible. the only thing keeping it alive is the fact that almost all applications are built for windows
Fun fact: Rectify11’s dark theme is so consistent, it breaks some installers (and probably more programs) with light image backgrounds, like some driver installs, and turns the black text into white text, making it unreadable.
Actually that is what seems to be happening ig. Microsoft is putting all their focus into cloud and services and windows is just an afterthought. So windows gets a smaller team as compared to its other businesses like xbox or azure
I also wish I could install a program that could apply the patches done in this OS on my Windows 11 (If I could do this without losing data and I want to be able to like toggle the certain tweaks).
I want this wish to come true, and I hope the dev team behind Rectify11 sees this.
Edit: It already exists but it does not work on my laptop
To be completely honest i think windows has been just going down hill since windows 8 and windows 7 are the best looking windows tbh i much prefer them over 8/10/11 but its EOL so i just use Ubuntu Linux and dual boot windows 11 on my laptop
Ok i'm actually dissapointed in microsoft, like how stupid do they have to be to not do what a small group of developers have done in less than a year. Anyways I love this project and I hope to see it last
I like this build, except microsoft edge, it's a good browser and I writing this from it. Мне нравится эта сборка, кроме microsoft edge, это хороший браузер и я пишу это с него.
@@mzg147 tbh it looks nice, but as enderman said, its unresponsive, and especially way too large, like as if im in a surface pro, they should give us the old desktop mode back, i feel like in tablet mode, they should have a separate option for touchscreen users
tbh its the fact that everything is so large, and cant make it smaller, now my 27inch monitor looks like a 720p monitor 200% scaling cuz of how large everything is, the only thing they thought about was surface pro users, although like 90% of the users are on desktop pcs and non touchscreen laptops, obv there r rich ppl spending over 1k in garabge, and u gotta give em the quality it needs for its price, but just make it a tablet/touchscreen or watever mode, instead of integrating this as the only option for these desktop users
Does all the TPM , SecureBoot and CPU requirements are already bypassed? Anyway, I'll definitively try it out, it already seems FAR BETTER than standard Windows 11
Task manager is dark on new Windows 11... (so is notepad) The properties window, run prompt and residual white control panel screens are what bothers me (Which still look bad here). Also Edge is (Much) better than google chrome...
The Rectify11 team told Microsoft how to delete Windows 11 and make a new one. Rectify11 the team that has no money at all to spend, has done better than Microsoft, with millions of dollars in their budget.
how about a reborn7 version? i mean... windows 7 is great ... if there was a way to use windows 7 without being forced to install win10 ... everything is forcing to install win10 because of "non support"
So I have also seen the dark theme with Notepad. Well, not workable at all. I don't like it (as developer!). When I work with Visual Studio (e.g.) I know that it is a dark theme, but for a plain text file it is not working for me. Compare it to MS Word, a dark theme would not work at all (for the document, I mean). For the GUI it;s OK.
The installer didnt work for me , but when I manually installed it from the command prompt......it was amazing. THIS IS THE BEST UPGRADE FROM WINDOWS 11 (Yes,v2)
I am so so glad the people who designed this don’t work at Microsoft. They accidentally messed up the taskbar so it’s no longer centered AND broke notepad AND removed the prettiest fluent design elements AND made the ugliest dark mode i’ve ever seen? jesus christ.
Also what does “usable browser” mean? Edge is literally just chromium with a lil extra bloat and spyware (not to mention also some really thoughtful features like marking up pdf files).
The idea here is cool. There are a million things I change in Windows when I set it up to make it palatable, but the design sensibilities of this team are laughable.
Hate to ask, have you even peaked at 22H2 yet, all the constant complaints I see you mention are mostly getting solved, or are solved without so many workarounds or bugs. Also remember the OS team is split between 11 development and 365 development. We are in a day and age where COVID is a real issue, and that April 2022 stream really sold me on what and why Windows 11 is really important.
My question is WTF is MS doing? A multi million dollar company and they make such a garbage with Win11, but then you got this and it's made by 1 guy W T F Microsoft
When a small team of developers does better than a multi-trillion dollar corporation can do, you know you failed in making your operating system modern.
Y'know I wouldn't even mind some of the old stuff like in the MMC 'cause it's like "ohh yeaa I remember that"... but like wtf, WHY is the Windows 8 networking flyout still a thing on the lock screen??? IF THE COMMUNITY CAN DO IT (referencing your Rectify11 video) THEN SO CAN THEY!!! HELLO!!!???
Remember, that Microsoft is not even a multi billion company, it's a multi trillion company! Worth over 2,4 trillion US Dollars! So we all are really disappointed

No Thanks, I'm personally in love with the default Windows 11, All I use windows for is gaming, I'm perfectly fine with default 11, and I'm perfectly fine with Edge.
Rectify11 seems cool though, I'll keep it into consideration.
Question, does this ISO have the minimum hardware requirements lower with security updates from Microsoft being transfered because installing windows 11 on unsupported hardware mean no security updates.
2 Questions. does rectify remove OEM bloatware such as the HP Omen Gaming Hub? and does it do away with Windows Defender? asking this because windows defender consistently kills my PC on startup (for anyone curious, my PC has a 6-core ryzen 5, GTX 1650 super, and 32 GB of RAM and is running windows 11 home)
Reinstalling vanilla windows removes OEM branding all over it so doing it with Rectify11 should do the same, after reinstalling, uninstalling OEM bundled software should be easy
"Correctly" u want to mean Badly bc on Rectify 11 when I created a user and after installing the graphics card it glitches and my screen went black and had some screen problems But on Windows 11 is not the same
i daily drive Artix Linux but if i ever felt the need to install windows for some reason this would be what i install. microsoft is genuinely dumb, like how could you, a multi billion dollar corporation with millions of developers make a much worse operating system in 6 YEARS and then have your work polished to death and made somewhat usable by a small group of devs in less than a year

I don't really understand what is the point. I can literally put 10 minutes of my time in making my linux OS do and look like i want without bloatware and useless crap. Why not just jump ship at this point. Or dualboot if something you need doesn't work. Windows 11 is nothing more than useless crap and Windows 10 is the same... Windows is nothing more than legacy crap piled together. It had his time, but that time is over, microsoft is never going to do anything good again. They didn't made decent software since 2009... I find this "Windows distros" an useless way to "fight" microsoft using their shit. Is just a waste of time.

If you need really really really specialiced software or you work for a business, then things change...if you really really need that software, linux is not ready for you. But those are not the average Joe.
Linux never deleted my f**king files. Windows did it. (I have backups, obviously, but i lost a day of my live because of that peace of s**t.) why? because f**king onedrive... I changed my entire computer, i only plugged my ssd on the new one and i had all my system ready, with Windows you can't do that. I can copy all my settings from one device to another (Oh glorious dotfiles, with windows... try to copy the entire registry and see what happens) With Linux i have better drivers (INTEL AND AMD, Nvidia maybe in the future thanks to the open source driver that they released), without random bloatware like gforce experience... i don't need random accounts for things, or for even system login... Linux don't install cundy crash without permission, or restarts itself... or decides to install another browser and set it as default.

also, good job immediately contradicting yourself. you claim that these amateurs do a better job than a professional multibillion dollar company, and it immediately presents with several serious bugs right off the bat. easily resolvable bugs, even.
also, it was abundantly clear that microsoft treated dark mode as an unimportant niche. you would do well to treat it as an unimportant niche. i know i do. i never use it because its completely unnecessary. dark mode doesnt have any benefits, or any possible use.
Just because you don't use something doesn't make it an "unimportant niche", obviously no one will switch an os over just system wide dark mode but in operating systems that offer easy system wide dark mode toggles like mobile and linux based operating systems, a significant chunk of the community uses it. I am sure more people will use it than edge.
I just started my first job as a student worker at the IT department at my college, which involves setting up, replacing, doing maintenance work on, and configuring various computers and electronics throughout the campus. It's my first time really experiencing the process of installing operating systems on new computers and stuff, so its pretty interesting. We actually had to boot into the college server using a LAN boot mode that we setup in the new computer's BIOS configuration, then when the computer turns back on, we press the key to get into the boot menu and boot over IPv4 into the campus' network. Then we sign in to the admin account for LAN booting, then there's a disk imaging menu that pops up. On the computers at my college we just install the base default Windows 11 installation, so there's not much unusual from there. After the imaging is done, we do a couple of things like install a printer service, antivirus, etc., all of which are hosted on files in the IT student workers' folder on the campus network which we can access in file explorer with the double backslash protocol. Then after installing these, we access the old computer that will be replaced by this one, download the user's files (documents, pictures, videos, chrome bookmarks, etc.) onto the new computer. We usually deploy the new computer within the week as well. It's been pretty fun so far and I've learned quite a bit when it comes to configuring the computer for setup and configuration, so its quite interesting to see videos like this. Keep up the good work Enderman!
BTW I'm pretty sure every C# program uses msstyles because a ton of C# apps are dark mode. Example: DS4Windows. Tho with rectify some stupid apps that have their text color hard coded (Like nvcleanstall) it'll be gray with black text. Not very readable.
The fact a multi billion dollar company with more than 100,000 employees made something worse than a small group of people really goes to show that companies like Microsoft will go out to do anything to get more money
thanks for showing why Microsoft doesn't do the things that this ISO did and completely fucking up basic system functionality
you have demonstrated your lack of knowledge and your biased opinion made of pure hatred towards Microsoft, being unable to see the objectivity of how Windows 11 is miles ahead Windows 10, yet you can't leave your 7 year old OS die can you?
go learn and actually try to use Windows 11 instead of making these stupid critique videos about things that you clearly do not know how work or why Microsoft are doing them the way that they are, keep showing your ignorance, because making and OS is not easy, especially not one like Windows
At this point it feels like for me, that the people of Microsoft always work like they create bugs themselves just to "fix" them so they can act like they worked while in reality they sat lazy on their pc doing nothing
Like make work for yourself just to have something to do
I'm glad that this exists, yet very disappointed that it has to exist in the first place. Making people so offended at such an unfinished, half-assed product that they want to change it the way that the company who released said half-assed product should have in the first place- simply because Microsoft wants nothing but money. Their developers don't give a shit about the people who use their products anymore and the poor state of the official Windows 11 really reflects that.

I used Rectify11 a while ago and I can definitely see the reason why Microsoft didn’t force dark mode on legacy apps. While most built-in apps work great, some third-party apps just don’t, to an extent of unreadable text. This breaks the backward compatibility of Windows.

0 likes@@waynenathanieltheanimator Actually, no. Absolutely not. Maintaining just 1 cleanly built render engine is much easier than maintaining a dozen broken ones.
4 likesEspecially when Microsoft got 98% of it right almost 25 years ago.
0 likes@@michaeldesanta317 Microsoft clearly loves reinventing the wheel a bunch of times for no reason.
0 likes@@3lH4ck3rC0mf0r7 yeah its because the gdi has received literally no increments since xp.
0 likes@@michaeldesanta317 Ironically enough, Windows 98 supported dark theming just fine, and many dark window themes for it came out of the box. Our family PC even used one of those themes back in the day. It wasn't rare for people to apply one of the dozens of available themes, and then poke around, and set up custom titlebar colors and stuff for themselves.
2 likesDark theming (and any nonstock theming, really) was fundamentally broken on Windows XP, because the fancy new win32 skinning wrapper it came with relied on hardcoded image resources and was explicitly locked by Microsoft to refuse to load resourcepacks that weren't blessed with their digital signature (and wacky custom windows became a fad for some reason, remember Winamp, Windows Media Player and MSN, later Windows Live Messenger?), and MS even began automatically applying bilinear filtering on XP wallpapers (making GIFs not aesthetically attractive as wallpapers) and forcing JPEG compression on all wallpapers starting on Windows Vista, breaking GIF animation entirely, meaning a lot of stuff that worked just fine on Windows 98 either outright stopped working with the new skins, or looked disastrous, meaning people stopped using custom themes.
2 likesNot to mention the billions of little things that Microsoft has to consider because of their business customers, but Rectify11 can ignore completely, and noone will even notice
Excuses. They literally have the source to do things properly, they just don't want to.
0 likes@@HusseinAl-Dalawy they did rewrite some builtin apps (yes taskmgr) to support the new API. However apps and dialogs have to support the APIs by themselves rather than Windows changes the behaviour of old ones
0 likesThat's one of the nuances of making Windows i believe. You want to push new things asap, but have to carefully test and try everything so that it doesn't break some weird edgecase.
10 likesThey just needed to do it to all built in apps like task manager and to something like recovery mode when you enable dark mode it should effect all system apps and not 3rd party apps since they have their own dark mode (most of them do at least) and they usually just detect what mode you are using to change the light so it wouldn't have hurt them to do these simple stuff

The developers of Rectify11 have cleaned up Windows and made it what Microsoft couldn’t build: a clean and stable Windows minus the bloatware and half baked interface. Worth watching to see where the project goes.

1 likeThis is unrealistic but I would have wanted that win11 actually begun from scratch. Leave all legacy/everything behind and actually redo everything. Keep windows 10 supported for like 10 years so you can keep legacy if you need it but you actually have a new and consistent OS.

0 likes@@ltux90 Well, your first mistake was using OneDrive lmao, but I do agree, Linux > Windows, but some software that I use thinks Wine is an anticheat or software cracker
0 likes @Zacharia Wait... Windows does that? Because the last time i checked i had a lot of crashes with for example old software...
0 likesMaybe the programs you want doesn't run well under wine, but, support without bugs...
The experience have been improved a lot, by a lot a mean a LOT. Yes, office does not work but you have libreoffice (Is even better, less bloated, without cloud sync crap and is free!) for creative cloud s**t... it depends... Davinci resolve is a better product and is a one pay product. is better than premier. Photoshop? Same thing, gimp does all you want and is free, i even recommend all this programs if you are in Windows, is a better overall experience. No crappy ads, no subscription services, no nothing.
I can copy all my settings from one device to another (Oh glorious dotfiles, with windows... try to copy the entire registry and see what happens)
With Linux i have better drivers (INTEL AND AMD, Nvidia maybe in the future thanks to the open source driver that they released), without random bloatware like gforce experience... i don't need random accounts for things, or for even system login... Linux don't install cundy crash without permission, or restarts itself... or decides to install another browser and set it as default.
And the list continues...
I paid a lot for my computer. Is mine, i control it, not Microsoft.
As i said. Windows is legacy s**t...
I think it's one thing: native .exe support with no bugs, and yes, I know Wine exists, but in my experience, it's just buggy (might of been fixed, or at least reduced, since the last time I used Linux as I haven't used it since like mid-2020)

also, it was abundantly clear that microsoft treated dark mode as an unimportant niche. you would do well to treat it as an unimportant niche. i know i do. i never use it because its completely unnecessary. dark mode doesnt have any benefits, or any possible use.

i agree, this guy contradicts himself all the time. i also don't see the point of the dark mode.
0 likesJust because you don't use something doesn't make it an "unimportant niche", obviously no one will switch an os over just system wide dark mode but in operating systems that offer easy system wide dark mode toggles like mobile and linux based operating systems, a significant chunk of the community uses it. I am sure more people will use it than edge.

0 likesI just started my first job as a student worker at the IT department at my college, which involves setting up, replacing, doing maintenance work on, and configuring various computers and electronics throughout the campus. It's my first time really experiencing the process of installing operating systems on new computers and stuff, so its pretty interesting.
0 likesWe actually had to boot into the college server using a LAN boot mode that we setup in the new computer's BIOS configuration, then when the computer turns back on, we press the key to get into the boot menu and boot over IPv4 into the campus' network.
Install Rectify11 on Micro11.
0 likesBTW I'm pretty sure every C# program uses msstyles because a ton of C# apps are dark mode. Example: DS4Windows. Tho with rectify some stupid apps that have their text color hard coded (Like nvcleanstall) it'll be gray with black text. Not very readable.
2 likesThat's cool. I run this ISO on vituralbox. Awsome🎉

0 likesThe fact a multi billion dollar company with more than 100,000 employees made something worse than a small group of people really goes to show that companies like Microsoft will go out to do anything to get more money
0 likesthanks for showing why Microsoft doesn't do the things that this ISO did and completely fucking up basic system functionality
2 likesyou have demonstrated your lack of knowledge and your biased opinion made of pure hatred towards Microsoft, being unable to see the objectivity of how Windows 11 is miles ahead Windows 10, yet you can't leave your 7 year old OS die can you?
go learn and actually try to use Windows 11 instead of making these stupid critique videos about things that you clearly do not know how work or why Microsoft are doing them the way that they are, keep showing your ignorance, because making and OS is not easy, especially not one like Windows

You're spreading pure misinfo on Rectify11 breaking stuff, it isn't the devs fault and it's his opinion, can't you respect that

Why?
1 likeAt this point it feels like for me, that the people of Microsoft always work like they create bugs themselves just to "fix" them so they can act like they worked while in reality they sat lazy on their pc doing nothing
0 likesLike make work for yourself just to have something to do
Fans know and understand better than Big Giant Stupid Companies
0 likesI'm glad that this exists, yet very disappointed that it has to exist in the first place.
