0:45: That's not just a Vista bug. The double desktop.ini file is actually caused by the Public Desktop folder (located in C:\Users\Public) merging into the personal desktops of users, and because the personal desktop and the Public Desktop (where application shortcuts get stored) both have a desktop.ini file, it shows 2: one for the personal (user account) desktop, and one for the public (app icons) desktop.
@@travissnyder5338 It's not caused by OneDrive - it's caused by the Public Desktop folder, as I explained before. Thumbs.db is just where Windows stores thumbnail images for things on your desktop.

@@kroezelgaming Correct. I saw a lot of Vista when it first came out, and it was dreadful. I've run alpha software more stable and reliable than Vista was in 2007.
Then I saw it again in 2012, with my new girlfriend at the time, who had been running it since day one. I groaned when I saw it, but then I used it and it was perfectly usable. Basically just like using Windows 7. She stayed on Vista until it EOL'd, in fact. Windows 7 was more or less just a huge service pack for Vista, and they backported all of the fixes back into Vista itself.
But the original release of Vista? Worse than Windows ME. I could fix ME in 10 minutes. Vista in '07 was hopeless unless you had bleeding-edge hardware. My "fix" was to downgrade people back to XP.
I always relate Windows Vista to Spirit Airlines because both seem to be hated, ha. Then, I relate Windows 7 to Jetblue Airlines becsuse a lot of people admire them.

I remember the time when I was a kid my parents bought the best computer there was and it loaded with vista on it . Seriously I really liked that transparent aero theme
plus Windows 8.1 also have a great and underrated UI for tablets, theres also a metro unofficial version of youtube app called MyTube that was available on Windows Store.
@Nyan Cat yeah, but i prefer defender to be on and tweaking it to not detect some of my games as false positive, however, for some reason for me, Windows 8.1 is a bit unstable for me, and its has issues with customization on latest version, like when you trying to change an icon in charms bars, windows seriously deactivate and asked me to reactivate windows and it failed and the Activation Error showing a blank error message.
@Nyan Cat yeah, but i would left some bloatware in windows 8 that it all working because some of them (like the MSN News/Microsoft News) makes the start menu looks great and feels like gadget. while windows 10 start menu is ugly and even i tweaked it and its still look horrible.
@Windows Explorer // Exploring Windows Its almost crap, but its better than 10 a bit, however: Reason why Windows 8.1 is so buggy for me: Keyboard not recognized in Resident Evil 2 Minecraft crashed (if i don't update Windows 8.1/using Aero8 by Red Eye Computing) A lots of program crashed (even i updated it using Windows Update) Windows Activation fails infinitely after successfully activate using KMS (Windows Embedded 8.1, using unofficial Windows 9 from http://eastcoast.hosting) Startup Delay (this is common problem in Win 8.1)
@Windows 7 yup, 10 sucks, More bloatware than 8. I'm currently run Windows 10 Fully Debloated and tracking disabled, aswell Aero enabled because this is only Windows that never end of support (supposed to be 2025, but changed).
@Windows 7 Windows 10 sucks more because they get rid of Aero since 8, and Shitty UWP Apps download in background, Spying, Tracking, Telemetry collection.

A lot of these bugs also affect Windows 7 (namely the Run dialogue maximize one). I don’t get the whole “Haha Vista can’t even run Solitaire without BSOD’ing” thing, I’ve NEVER had this happen and I’ve been using Vista for 12 years. So true. Windows Vista isn’t even bad, I mean I had a high end PC at the time, I was using Windows Vista in 2008 till 2009 when Windows 7 came out I updated my PC. It’s not even that big of an upgrade since the Vista bugs are also on 7.
It's just Linux fans hating on Windows and its fans for literally no reason and having a war with them just because they can't open Solitaire on a single operating system
I agree!! Most of the Vista haters are younger than Windows 7. I can't understand why people hated Vista!! True, but so is Windows 7, which comes with improvements like the taskbar using the Aero glass instead of dark gloss. One thing Vista did that 7 didn't was the special blue-green user folder graphics. Those were nice.
A shame Windows 10 is eventually going to be the only supported version and it has bland solid colored windows. If they added glass on any way to the windows (without user-made programs), I'd be fine with it.

This video is 5 years old, but still :) People did not hate Vista for the funny stuff shown in the video. We hated it for two reasons:
1. Microsoft released Vista before the broader ecosystem of device drivers was ready. I recall how my computer used to bluescreen at least once daily and then, in February 2008, nVidia released their new driver. Zero bluescreens from Vista to this day. There were either no drivers, or the drivers were buggy because of the new driver model. And trust me, the new driver model was hell (I used to develop Windows drivers back then, so it's a PTSD for me remembering these fun times in my career). 2. Microsoft had a security problems and had to uplift the ecosystem. So they designed the UAC prompt to be most obnoxious, so users could get angry, yelled at software developers, and the developers to feel the pressure from their users to get their sh--t together and write their software to the APIs existing since Windows NT 3.1 back in 1993. Which worked. And nowadays we can use our Windows computers without being forced to use Administrator account. So, two decades later, we are all safer, because back then UAC nagged us and we hated it.

Why Windows Vista was bad?Only one thing Enderman forgot to include in his video(great video btw) and that is:GFWL(Games For Windows Live). That abomination was the main reason why games didn't upgrade from Windows XP to Windows Vista. It was(and it is) one of the worst things that Windows 7 has.
Main problem about vista: 1. bugs, since its a massive step from previous system, not only system bugs, but also bugs from other software/drivers since it changed too much 2. added too many features, eating memory, processor and disk gradually, and make the entire system not usable in a short time I remember when I was using vista, the disk indicator never flashes, but illuminate indefinitely. it's all those antivirus, search indexing and checkpoint backups working silently. to be fair win7 is not that different, its just a bug fixed vista and finally waited to everyone get good computers (hence no performance issue), and know how to write software for vista checkpoint backup in win7 still can fuck up your disk if you don't turn it off
1. Vista SP2 fixed most of those bugs but it was too late since 7 was released shortly after SP2. 2. Vista consuming too much system resources was not a Vista problem, It was an OEM problem which you kind of acknowledged by saying "finally waited to everyone get good computers (hence no performance issue), and know how to write software for vista" and a Microsoft marketing problem. XP computers that were marked as "Vista capable" only met the requirements for Vista Home Basic. Linus Tech Tips made a video about why Vista's launch was a failure.
Atleast Vista doesn't have problems with removable storage like Windows 10 1903. Also when I used Vista RTM on legit hardware back in the day I never had any stability problems with Vista.
@Maru Angelo Maglalang Santos Indeed. Windows Vista only has such a bad reputation because of its initial lack of stability, not its current stability.

Windows 7 still has many of these issues, specifically the maximized Run and double "desktop.ini" files. The Solitaire BSOD is caused by the VMware drivers if I'm not mistaken, so I wouldn't count that as an issue with Windows Vista either.
Theres a lots of reason it is,just same as every windows ,but the reason that caused most people hated windows 10 is because, windows 10 has much bloatware, it has less customize,it even forcing you to sign in into microsoft account, etc
No, I believe the video was edited to add the BSOD, and the BSOD said "a process has been terminated", which would say something completely different if it has to do with the drivers.
I'm pretty sure the BSOD is caused by the VMware graphics drivers, so it would probably work fine outside of VMware. It's weird, as Windows 7 has the same version of Solitaire and it works fine in VMware.

65 likes0:45: That's not just a Vista bug.

9 likesThen I saw it again in 2012, with my new girlfriend at the time, who had been running it since day one.
Most of the bugs were patched in SP2

2 likesThis is why people hate all Windows. Not only Vista
1 likeThis video is 5 years old, but still :) People did not hate Vista for the funny stuff shown in the video. We hated it for two reasons:
0 likes1.
My vista pc was honestly pretty stable, but this is when windows movie maker sucked because the slow down/speed up features didn't alter pitch :(

2 likesPD: In my current days I'm using 2 devices My PC desktop with Win 10 and my crappy laptop with the same O.S using retro games to play 💻

@Windows 7 Lol have you actually tried xp
0 likesMe: enters bios
0 likesVista: THE NEXT BOOT WILL END UP IN A BSOD
Main problem about vista:
1 like1. bugs, since its a massive step from previous system, not only system bugs, but also bugs from other software/drivers since it changed too much
2. added too many features, eating memory, processor and disk gradually, and make the entire system not usable in a short time
I remember when I was using vista, the disk indicator never flashes, but illuminate indefinitely. it's all those antivirus, search indexing and checkpoint backups working silently.
to be fair win7 is not that different, its just a bug fixed vista and finally waited to everyone get good computers (hence no performance issue), and know how to write software for vista
checkpoint backup in win7 still can fuck up your disk if you don't turn it off
Replies (1)
1. Vista SP2 fixed most of those bugs but it was too late since 7 was released shortly after SP2.
3 likes2.

Now: everything is ok Me: It's really great such as WinVista and much better than Win7
I think WinVista is the most underrated OS ever and I think Vista deserves for second chance, I'll be honest 🦊
I liked Win7, but I prefer WinVista more, because few years later I've started to hate Win7 by lags, WinVista just rescued my computer (my laptop was with Win7)🦊
