It's probably just another occurence of the "It's Pinkie Pie, don't question it" phenomenon. After all, she can bend the very fabric of reality just for comedy, so it's not that unlikely that she could make a duplicate for the diner gag.

Considering how many background pony identical twins/triplets/quadruplets there are, this theory isn't all that unlikely. Almost every pony in Equestria seems to have at least one pony who looks like them.

I think I have an explanation that disproves Sine's clone theory, two actually.

1: The pinky in the diner is a broadway impersonater/actor, Manehatten is the mlp version of New York, after all, there are bound to be people acting like celebrities for some easy bits

2: Why would the Pinkie clone disguise herself so lazily in a diner with the real Pinkie right behind her, but go to intricate detail in her disguise in some random nightclub, and a side point of this is why the diner Pinkie didn't immediately leave when she noticed her real counterpart come in with their friends, that would leave her exposed to being discovered and subsequently killed.

That's actually a mark against that being a Pinkie clone. That presumed clone's hair is staying flat. And as you just said, do you really expect her hair to stay flat? Even if you made the argument that she was able to keep her hair flat long enough so Pinkie didn't notice, do you really think the other ponies wouldn't have noticed that there were two Pinkie's? Because Pinkie's mane refuses to be tamed even for a few minutes. You're Party of One example is a very specific situation that was connected to emotions, and never happened again, despite her emotions.

Also, they don't have the same coat and mane color. The presumed clone has a more reddish tint. That, and it has two tones where Pinkie only has the one tone. And if you want to say it's the lighting, well, there's clearly a difference between how much their coat colors shift and how much their hair color shifts. And as for changelings being stupid enough to take the form of one of the Element bearers... THAT'S LITERALLY WHAT THEY DID IN THE SEASON FINALE OF THAT VERY SAME SEASON! And besides, that changeling actually would be smarter, considering that they took a form that is NOT identical to Pinkie Pie. And it doesn't take much to fool someone. In the Superman franchise, people never put two and two together and figure out that Clark Kent is Superman. The reason for this is not because they're that ignorant. It's because Clark Kent and Superman have very different personalities. That plus the fact that Clark's glasses are enchanted to change his eye color.

I'd hardly claim that I debunked the theory itself. But I just wanted to point out a few of the flaws in your argument for the theory.

Why that pony in the club is not a Pinkie Pie Clone:

1). After close examination of the clone's mane color, even under the club lighting, I can concretely confirm that they are not the same color. The Club Pony's mane is a warmer tone of pink, having more of a reddish-orange tint compared to Pinkie Pie's cooler-toned pink being more purple than red.
Yes, there is the existence of hair dye in Equestria, we know that Mayor Mare uses it for her signature grey locks of hair since her's is naturally pink, likely to seem older and more serious. Neutral colors are typically what someone would wear to the workplace, or to a job interview to seem more put together.


2). The Club Pony's coat is also a warmer tone of pink, barely noticeable for the untrained eye. In Equestria we have not heard of a pony dying their coat except for in the first episode of the series where Twilight says "Quick! Before she decides to dye my coat a new color!"
We do know that there is the existence of makeup which Starlight Glimmer used to cover her own cutie mark and replace it with an equal sign. Knowing Pinkie Pie, she would not have the patience to apply makeup all over her body every day but would have the flexibility to do so because she is Pinkie Pie.
Going back to the Magic Duel episode, Granny Smith, Big Mac, and Applebloom were all painted from head to hoof in orange paint to look like AJ, and given the appropriate cutie mark to match.
Pinkie was the one who did a majority of the painting.
This paint would definitely wear off over time, and the powder makeup is vulnerable to water, and would also be vulnerable to sweat, which is prevalent in a dance club.

3). The Pinkie Pie we know and love has both curved top and bottom lashes.
In the human world, there is such a thing as an eyelash perm kit, which is used to curl the lashes, not straighten them. Hair perms are used not just for curling, but also for straightening hair for long periods of time, so theoretically a lash perm kit could be used to straighten lashes.
The likelihood of someone plucking out their bottom lashes is unlikely, and probably painful like plucking out any hair would.

4). Club Pony's eyes are a more muted blue compared to Pinkie's

5) The Club Pony is different colors than the Diner Pinkie Clone. Diner Pinkie clone has bottom lashes.

Reasons why Club Pony is a Pinkie Clone:

If you clone something multiple times, it will eventually turn out flawed.
If the Club Pony is a Pinkie clone they were probably one of the last clones to be made, especially when the mirror pool might have trouble duplicating so many ponies at once, causing some inconsistencies between Pinkie Clones personality-wise, intelligence, and possibly visually but probably not.
If Club Pony is a Pinkie clone, then they got a hair perm, a lash perm, slightly altered hair color, lightly altered coat (probably with hair dye since their coats are fur and fur can be dyed), covered her balloon cutie mark with a perfectly matching makeup, making their cutie mark be a simple set of glowsticks for easy replication purposes, muted contacts (we have no confirmation of whether or not contacts exist in Equestria), along with an entirely different alias.

Even if Club Pony is a Pinkie Pie clone, they are not the same one as the clone in the diner.
Eyelashes take a long time to grow back when plucked out. It can take years.

Maybe the first clone of Pinkie Pie decides to escape from twilight when she learns that twilight will eliminate Pinkie's clones. When she did she decides to become another pony instead as she does not want to die. When she did, she used a hidden personality that pinkie pie has and lived with it. She goes to Manehattan because it is far from Ponyville that the Mane 6 rarely goes there.

It as to be the one of the first clones because the othere clones are just clones of the first ones. Every clone is not a perfect clone of the host since they don't have memories that the host have but they do got the personality trait of the host. It may be possible that the first clones got other personalities (or forgotten/neglected personalities) and memories that could be connected to them. While the clones of other clones have fewer memories copied.

You know, that wasn't Pinky's first time using the pool. She says, "How did it go again?" implying that she's used it before. So while it might not be a clone from that specific incident, it might still be a Pinky clone. We don't actually know how many times she's used the pool; we just know that one time things got way, way out of hand.

I want to suggest the following hypothesis: That other Pinkie Pie is Discord! We've seen he's capable of shapeshifting into just about anything. I don't think changing himself to look like Pinkie Pie would be out of his possibilities. As for why he did it, maybe he just wanted to mess with us. Like, he heard Pinkie Pie talking about the mirror pool and her clones, so Discord decided to play a little prank for everyone. I rest my case.

Also yeah, that clone is definitely up to no good. We should proceed with caution, he might turn out to be the next big threat to Equestria.

Any way, if you wanted to prove that isn’t Pinkie Pie’s clone, I could prove it for you. Pinkie Pie’s hair turns straight when she is sad and is poofie when she is happy. Now the clones only wanted to have fun and dancing is fun. So, I don’t see why that dancing pony could be Pinkie Pie. And for someone who only has the word fun in her head can’t possibly think about wearing disguise like a black coat and a black hat to protect herself. You would need to think for that. And her clones can’t think, they can only have fun. If they could think, then Twilight couldn’t get rid of them. So that dancing pony was probably someone else who looks a lot like Pinkie Pie and that pony in a black coat was probably someone else as well. But one thing is for sure, the three of them were definitely three different ponies

I like to think that much of the Pinkie pie phenomenon can be explained by the fact that a ton of the pinkie clones survived and work together to make crazy stuff possible

Honestly I agree with both the idea of letting clones lives and also getting rid of them

If there are too many clones then they can easily start a revolt against the original thinking they have the superior power thanks to their numbers

But if say only a handful of Clones exist, then you could easily spread them out across the lands without anyone getting to suspicious if they see them in another place, letting them live their own lives

My own theory is that the "Clones" weren't actually clones at all, but other versions of Pinky Pie from across the multiverse.... and that none of them were in their true form. (One of them might actually have been the Pinkie Pie from Equestria Girls, which would explain her knowledge of Twilight and where she came from.... She might also not be upfront about remembering when Twilight banished her from Equestria because she didn't want to freak her out...)

They weren't actually killed, they were just banished back to whatever world they came from.... (Their forms being collapsed down into that swirl of pink energy so that they could be reverted to their true forms after being ejected from the mirror pools in their home dimensions....)

When looking at the room during the paint test, I counted 40 pinkies at most. However I calculated how many times the pinkie clones would need to duplicate to get to anywhere near 40. First the ogx2 = 2 pinkies. Then og+clonex2 = 4 pinkies. Then the three clones duplicated. 3x2= 6. 6x2=12. 12x2=24. 24x2=48. Plus the og means if there were 40 pinkies in the paint room there were at least 9 that were not. Therefore 9 pinkies escaped and so it's very possible there are not one but 2 clones of pinkie in this video.

I remember once hearing that theory about Pinkie Pie's clone in that dance club and the restaurant being Pinkie Pie's EQG counterpart, i mean that theory may sound a bit farfetched even i think that, but knowing Pinkie Pie and her ability to defy the laws of physics it's a huge huge, HUGE possibility, but as always Sawtooth i agree with your theories as well!!!!

tbh, depending on how far you’re willing to go with this being watsonian and not doylist, it’s pretty easy to explain why a pinkie clone would have straight hair, even when partying: she’s not actually happy.

for starters, seeing people be killed around you is incredibly traumatizing. especially if you’re also a target. survivor’s guilt is real. adding onto that, we later see her in a rave… with a *pacifier*, something that is often used in rave culture as a way to avoid teeth grinding when on e (and, honestly, considering the pinkie clones were hyperfocused on having fun, a clone being a burnout wouldn’t be too farfetched). it turns out having a dependence generally isn’t that good of a time, and does result in things like depression. pinkie’s hair doesn’t deflate when she feels sad, it specifically deflates when she is *depressed*. i’d imagine the opposite would be true — feeling good or excited for a few minutes wouldn’t make her hair poof if she’s otherwise depressed.

as for why her hair wasn’t straight before… maybe she was recovering before pinkie triggered her? that is something that happens — a person could be recovering really well, and then something happens to them that completely destroys that progress.

What I think is that Pinkie secretly went back to the mirror pool, & got a new clone, so she can switch places with her at anytime, or it’s a similar situation to how RainbowDash & DaringDo look exactly the same, but at the same time different

The background look-alike is likely a clone, considering the context in which she appears, what with Pinkie describing the clone pool before her reveal.

When it comes to Pacific Glow, the rave pony, I call shenanigans. The creators of the show are not above practically copying and pasting character designs, even when the designs are copies of main characters. MLP is technically a merchandise driven franchise, meaning that the careful attention to detail that fans prefer may not often make it into the final product. Hasbro is pumping out a product, and that often means that relatively lazy shortcuts will be taken in various ways, which includes character design and animation laziness.

The clone could be either a changeling or a fan of Pinkie Pie (the second one seems boring and doesn't exactly make sense).

The first one does make sence at least on some level maybe they wanted free/cheaper food at the restaurant so they took the form of a famous person.
With that background they could have either come in with the hat on and told the waiter that they where Pinkie Pie or alternatively they could have come in just as Pinkie Pie with the hat (yes if they where a chanceling they could just create a hat, but a flashy green light show wouldn't be a smart thing to do in the middle of a restaurant.)

So whatever way it happened The cangeling was in a restaurant with a hat.
So then boom real Pinkie Pie just walks in and they where trapped in a restaurant with the person they where disguised as so they put in their hat and hope no one notices them.

Then why did they not leave?
1 they where stupid.. that's just boring
2 they had to pay their bill. They are a changeling they could just leave and have the real Pinkie Pie pay.
3 they wanted information to give to their queen. That makes sense.



So a changeling went to a restaurant to get cheap food and the person they where disguised as walked in through the door but they decided to stay to get more information about the greatest enemies... or they just where a clone.

What if the clone developed a similar but separate identity from Pinkie time over time after the clone massacre, which may have given her a different cutie mark because even though she likes to part like Pinkie, she’s developed a different personality and memories than Pinkie.

I wouldn’t call it canon, but I would like to say, in one of the blooper specials, it shows Human Pinkie and Pony Pinkie switching places via the portal. Mysterious :)

My theory is that it’s the same Pinkie Pie from the Equestria Girls dimension as shown in the bloopers of Friendship Games...

Yay, that's what I call an interesting pony video! And I think that it is very possible, that it was Pinkie clone in all those situations - there were a lot of her clones, so one could possibly stop by ice-cream shop or by playing foals, and so avoid test and folowing extermination

It’s possible that the “Pinkie Clone” in the restaurant wasn’t a clone, but rather a fan of Pinkie who wanted to cosplay as her. She looked behind at Pinkie since she wanted to see the pony that inspires her so much. Or maybe she was nervous at Pinkie’s potential reaction to her cosplay. There’s a few different possibilities explaining the Pinkie fan’s reaction. Still, it could just be a Pinkie superfan.

Considering there are several pony's with the same template and just different colour and cutie mark I think it is possible that that isn't a clone, however my personal opinion is that it is a clone and she just tried to get as far away from ponyville/canterlot as possible.

I don’t think the neon pony is a Pinkie clone because I can only think of two times that we’ve seen Pinkie with (artificially) straightened hair (in the Gala episode and in Equestria Girls) and both times her hair has almost instantly curled back up. Plus her forelock doesn’t seem to translate to bangs and the clone in the background doesn’t have a different hairstyle from the real Pinkie. Maybe she uses hairspray and extensions, but it would make more sense for her to permanently change her haircut and for her to keep that disguise up in public.
So why does the neon pony look so much like Pinkie?
Well, we know that hair dye exists in Equestria and we know that Pinkie is sort of a celebrity, so maybe the neon pony dyed her hair to be a similar color to Pinkie’s.

It was at a time where changelings were not safe as just being changelings, and Pinkie being a celebrity pony means that the changeling in that form would get a lot of love, the exact thing that it feeds off of. Hold on. You’re assuming that it was “murder.” Who’s to say the mirror pool isn’t an entrance to other timelines within the universe? What if they were simply returned to their timelines?

My opinion, the one in the diner is a clone (as the writers intentionally implied with dialogue and timing). The one at the rave is not pinky, because of the different cutie mark. When Starlight changed her cutie mark, it was integral to the plot. It is a stretch to say rogue pinkie in a different city would go through the same hassle or even care enough to think about it.

The rave pony just looks like Pinkie. That's all. Or do you think two ponies can't look similar? Are Samuel L. Jackson and Lawrence Fishburn the same person, too, then?

Sawtooth something you could’ve said was that it was just a random pony who looked up to Pinky and started wearing contacts and dyeing her hair to look like her but her hair and eyelashes was just naturally straight.

I absolutely loved that episode for very clearly indicating that the clones were not quite as mindless as most of us wanted to believe in Too Many Pinkie Pies. The best you could argue in Twilight's defense is that the clones had not yet actually developed a complex enough personality for them to be "people" yet. But then that requires an answer to a difficult question - just how much is enough personality to count as a person?

While there are certainly excuses, there are no good explanations for that scene except for a Pinkie clone that escaped and developed a personality.

(What is even more chilling is that more realistically, without any excuses to defend Twilight other than that she didn't really know anything about the Mirror Pool, those first clones act like foals. It's hard to differentiate them from Pinkie at first, because Pinkie tends to act foalish herself, but that is what they act like. They can be taught, they develop a personality from experiences in life, and maintain characteristics from their one parent. So what Twilight did is even more terrible in retrospect. Even if she did not intend harm.)

I think that yes, that dancing mare is that same clone we saw at the dinner. I even know how to explain away her Cutie Mark. Think about this, once Pinkie ate through those pancakes and we saw the clone, she stared at Pinkie with her eyes shrink out of surprise. What if she saw Pinkie ahead of time and painted over her CM?

That or, as Pinkie and co are so well known that she pulled a Starlight. If we had seen that dancing mare in any other Ep, this theory wouldn't be so solid. You gotta ask yourself, whether she was Pinkie's clone or not, for the one we saw at the dinner, where is she now? What was her Cutie Mark? Does she get and mistook for Pinkie heck did Pinkie ever saw her?

This is not the end twist of Castle Mania, that clone must be somewhere and has an actual life!

We won't know for sure that's a Pinkie clone until we see the cutie mark. If the cutie marks are the same the alternate Pinkie is most likely some form of clone, if not, then it is possible she is a doppelgänger. Myths and legends of an evil demonic look alike aside, doppelgängers really do exist, genetics can be funny that way. I find myself wondering more about the look alike's hat, which seems to have a press pass on it, making me wonder if it's a rival reporter in disguise who's out for a scoop, lol.

Well, In my opinion. I don’t think so, number 1. The hair has a different look and colour tone to pinkie or the clones,

2. In one frame, when the pony bends over (or when she’s starting to bend over in a stance) you can see their cutie mark, it doesn’t resemble balloons at all, looking more like glow sticks. And from what I remember, all the clones have the same mark as pinkie pie of no way whatsoever to change it.(part where you see the cutie mark is between 4:07 - 4:08)

What if that Pinkie is from a different dimension? After all, we learn in the IDW comics that there are more than just the two we see in the movies and show. Has anyone realized that the reason both Pinkie Pies in "Equestria Girls: the Movie" (human and pony) figured out things they should not have known (i.e. Twilight being a pony princess, and Twilight's relationship with human Flash) was because they had switched places with each other midway into the movie? Just want to clarify before continuing to watch - the mane is of a different color and the cutie mark is different. Maybe it is Pinky's distance relative, in the pink clone episode all the ponies went around rounding up pinky clones in a way only the real pinky can resist because she was too depressed. No clone pinky would have been able to resist that pull. And there was an episode in season 4 opening the possibility that pinky might be related to Applejack. The best argument I can think of is, that isn't a pinkie. As your clone said the element of Laughter herself would call a lot of attention, if that was a clone how would anyone from ponyville or then mane 6 not hear about it. It could have been just a background pony with similar features. I mean we've seen a pony looking like Dr.Whooves start as an earth pony, then Pegasus, and back to earth pony. IDK maybe I'm thinking too much into it, it is Pinkie Pie after all.

Personally I'd say the pony at the cafe was the Pinkie clone because of the gag, but nothing proves us the neon pony is the same (so i'd put the odds at 65% that it's the clone). Personally, I don’t think the dancer is pinky. Only because not only does she have a different cutie mark, which yeah I suppose could be makeup, but her mane is a different shade of pink. You could say that it’s just the lights but than why is her coat unaffected? Cuz the dancer ponies coat is the same as pinkies. But if you argue that it is because of the lights and their manes would be the same without the light, than that means her coat is a different color without the lights. Making them different no matter which side you argue. Also, you see pinky under the lights once in that episode, her hair still isn’t that pink shade that the dancers is.

Edit: I looked again and when both pinkie and the dancer (who I now know is pacific glow) are under the lights, BOTH Pacific’s mane and coat are slightly different shades of pink.
