No DLL files need to run (Additional libs to make games/programs work), +1GB They are: VC++ Redistributable (Used by ANY non system program which written in C/C++), .NET 4+ to run something written in C# (+2GB). Rest system tools, and 15Gb of restore. For normal OS work (Unfortunately) we need at least 20Gigs

The 64bit image seems to still be in development. To lower the size, they are removing unused codec decoders and replacing icon files with low-res icons. They also are removing legacy boot. The windows 10 logo on bootup will probably be a 100-pixel image as well.
If that is True, I wouldnt go this deep. I think people would want confortable installation. So there can game on it for cheap And easily. 120GB SSDs arent expensive or even those laptops with 32gb will be plenty for something like this in my opinion

@@robinferizi9073 the benefit of having Linux is that you can interact with every smartphone , every router, or car ECU flash firmwares to 99% of the devices tha can support linux create uefi loaders for a particular hardware etc linux usage is huge but to use terminal is not neccesary for all day usage if you want a non gui approach you can do that to, and in modern linux the use uf terminal is not a must because most of the tools are in the guy or if they run in the background when necessary and about open source is partialy, true there are also close sources in linux or proprietary like nvidia or , samsung or google , etc in linux are even payed Software like on every platform

Windows 95 was like 60MB and Windows 98 could be squeezed inside 100MB.
I just used this as a backbone for an arcade machine I built! I was already doing a lot of NTDEV's optimizations manually, and tiny10 saves a lot of hassle. Since the machine never connects to the internet except maybe once a year to receive game updates, it's perfect for this use
Well it would be certainly possible and easy to pull of , all you need to do is deploy the build install what you need capture it back into a .wim file and copy it as boot.wim to usb drive with contents of windows 10 iso into sources folder and it should boot up from a ramdisk just like the windows setup would
I made a similar Arch Linux install in just 2 GB. Well, with LZMA compression I think it would fit into 1 GB too Edit: I compressed it down to 1.5 GB. Well, that's OK for a 64-bit OS Update: Alpine+KDE is lighter - only 1 GB!
OpenWRT, a linux distro for wifi routers, can fit into ridiculously tiny spaces - under 100mb. This is not a fair or reasonable comparison at all to your Arch install, since I'm comparing a purpose built router OS to a general desktop OS, but linux can get... so damn tiny.

@@adriancoanda9227 Not nececssarily. WinPE should be even lighter than 1 GB. This is a non-WinPE Windows 10, crammed into 1 GB. Though very light WinPEs have been made, that are as low as 50 MB.

@@enderxity in case of a Dell Latitude D4xx series laptop, the cooling is absolute shit. they only put a small heat pipe and without any heatsink. look up "Dell Latitude D420 fan" and you will see what I mean. When I first discovered it, perhaps I'm no longer going to buy Dell laptops. The GPU is attached to a thin metal that did not have a heat pipe connected to the fan, just purely cooled by a sheet of metal. Damn.

Did you know you can shrink it even more with wimboot or compact os? I actually use compact os for my 32gb ssd inside my laptop and it works great. Less than 9gb for the untouched, full install compared to 15gb. Pretty significant for what it does.
this is pretty cool! i know windows 11 is out next. so what would be cool is if for the latest windows 10 (or the last patched) with 64 bit we could have a "FINAL TINY 10" even if it is like 2-3 GB because of 64bit. but it will be usable for modern programs like games that need 64 bit version and it will have all up to date security updates. for everyone who doesnt really want to switch to windows 11!

@@n.d1282 Actually a PS3 has only 512MB of RAM combined. 256MB for the CPU and 256MB for the GPU. That's one of the reasons the PS3 froze sometimes when using the Internet or when you were in a multiplayer match with a party chat in the XMB menu.

older 4gb ram sticks are really cheap, if you would like to improve it just buy another one that matches and make sure to put them in a dual channel configuration. alternatively just replace both of the ram sticks with some newer ddr4 if you have the money

Hmm, say, the Windows Sandbox version of Windows is also very much lighter than its desktop counterpart, you should try cloning this version to an actual partition and see how it runs outside of its "sandbox".

Reminds me of accidently a whole cola into my laptop in college, and rush ordering a cheap 16GB SSD to shove in it and test if it still worked. It still worked, but it had like 1GB of free storage left when I had installed windows. I remember asking the college IT guy what to do, and he laughed lol. If only I'd had this video then.

i once tried to install tiny10 in my computer, and suddenly it repeated the installation 3 times until i realized i messed up the computer and accidentally deleting windows 7 forever from my computer
you can add at least a regular browser that can be removed, if you have problems downloading the necessary files or drivers through this system two days I could not use the computer
PS. As cool as this is, do not use it as a daily online machine! Since it's based on an old version of Windows and missing crucial features, it's very insecure. It lacks any protection against modern malware. If you use it without connecting to the internet then it's better but I still wouldn't recommend
Arch installer is only 64 MB and yet Windows 10 installer can't even fit on a DVD. Now we have a lite version that is a more reasonable 1GB uncompressed. Goes to show how much leftover garbage is in a Windows system.
interesting and all but, the real benefit would be a super light, yet fully functional low ram usage windows 64 bit, disk space.. 1 gb or 10gb.. today everything has enough for that, but 4gb of ram, using 1 or 2 makes a difference
This is really cool, however there is a activation exe that contains a virus. filename called "hwid.kms38.gen.mk6.exe". Located in "Tiny 10.iso\sources\$OEM$\$$\SETUP\SCRIPTS\" please be careful.
It's an impressive demonstration, but these modified builds tend to fail when you try running commercial software. You just have to bite it and buy a new drive, or with Win11, a new computer.
You dont need a new computer to run Windows 11, its an artificial limitation. I dual boot Artix Linux and Windows 11 on my desktop from 2016, and was even able to get it to run on a laptop from 2006(after finding out that it was indeed a 64 bit laptop despite its age, I had to try it lol)

One thing some people including me might be concerned with security. Isnt there a virus somewhere hidden? Or some privacy hole like spyware installed? If there was a tutorial on how to do it yourself (i havent Done any research on how to do it yourself, if it is even existing) well people will be for it 100% i am sure for experimental installation or something.

Updates alone were enough to bring my storage down to like 7Gb and eventually I couldn’t even install the latest windows 10 Update because my internal drive didn’t even have the total storage for it
But it just goes to show how bloated Windows 10 Has gotten
At this point, you would be better off just running Windows XP or Linux. You could run Windows 7 if you were very desperate and need various applications. I personally wouldn't advise Windows 2000 even if your hardware was old enough to run it- Windows 2000 just doesn't work with a lot of modern software.

This does not make any sense, they used windows Enterprise version for it. The windows enterprise version is 110 U$ license. So, you are reusing an old laptop for a shrink version of windows, and then pay 110U$ on a license? An actually enterprise versions are VLM so, you need a validation server on your network (KM).
Or this is indented to be cracked? (over and over every 6 month). Since you cannot ruse the windows 7 license to activate a windows 10, on enterprise versions.

i believe the uefi version of grub bootloader still supports chainloading legacy oses, although windows may freak out.finding nvme drivers for windows 7 would be interesting to say the least.

I just install win 10 21H1 32bit to 32gb USB drive using Rufus windows to go, and run it on c2d, 4gb ddr2, radeon hd5750 512mb vram, it takes less that half of space the USB drive have
I did this because my little bro needs computer, and that's what I have and the HDD is failing, also buying new ssd is too much for my parents with current situations

Even if a 64 bit version of this is over a couple gigabytes I would still use it over base windows 10. Heck, I might try and do it for fun, even with my limited knowledge.
officially windows 10 doesn't support being installed to a usb, just the setup. however you can probably use rufus to make a windows to go usb with this image, as it works with a regular windows 10 image
Fun fact: my school's laptop computers boot windows 10 from usb and they have like 5GBs of storage, and i used the same program to compress the hell out of windows so i would fit in those 5GB usb (i installed windows on most of my schools laptops) This vid made me remember of those computers.
For a few months, I've been slowly working on a virtual operating system (you need to run it on another operating system) in Python. It has to work like that since Python can't really be packaged into assembly. Anyway, I'm doing it on a 1gb disk partition, and when all the user files are removed (music, pictures, etc.) it fits in a very small space (like double digits in megabytes.)
@@archlinus5066 As I said, it's not a real operating system; you have to run it on Windows. It's basically just a virtual machine. I believe it would be possible to make it work, though, if you mixed in a few other things to make the computer run Python.

9 likesThe 64bit image seems to still be in development. To lower the size, they are removing unused codec decoders and replacing icon files with low-res icons. They also are removing legacy boot. The windows 10 logo on bootup will probably be a 100-pixel image as well.

1 like@@robinferizi9073 the benefit of having Linux is that you can interact with every smartphone , every router, or car ECU flash firmwares to 99% of the devices tha can support linux create uefi loaders for a particular hardware etc linux usage is huge but to use terminal is not neccesary for all day usage if you want a non gui approach you can do that to, and in modern linux the use uf terminal is not a must because most of the tools are in the guy or if they run in the background when necessary and about open source is partialy, true there are also close sources in linux or proprietary like nvidia or , samsung or google , etc in linux are even payed Software like on every platform

1 like100MB? Lol..typical hard drives of that era had 5-20MB of space and only high end computers had them. Windows 1.0 didn't even require a hard drive since it was loaded from disk upon every boot up. It's disk image file is only 0.5MB if you want to try it in virtual machine.
Windows 95 was like 60MB and Windows 98 could be squeezed inside 100MB.

0 likes@@californium-2526 you are right about win pe but if you want network or othe tools integrated it will grow ca 2 gb on a x64 system and if you want a os just to have the desktop and a internet browser then yes you could opt for a pxe boot and create an entire win 11 image vhd disk in the cloud ah you can get 10 tb for 49,95 € on Google drive or other services so we do not live in the era where we are forced to have low images even the cheapest laptop has at least 256gb wich fits the enire windows 11 with all the acive directory a d server management software and including office 365 ,and visual studio community full tools a x64 system in o e gb has barely the kernel even if you create a kernel for your computer just for your hardware, still you will need ca 400mb for hardware support maybe an arm64 system but not even that even if you are using gzip wich can compres the info about 2:1 still that image needs support in the bootloader cause windows bootloader does not support such by default exactly as you say a non pe in 1 gb y wo der how much of the hardware is supported

0 likes@@enderxity in case of a Dell Latitude D4xx series laptop, the cooling is absolute shit. they only put a small heat pipe and without any heatsink. look up "Dell Latitude D420 fan" and you will see what I mean. When I first discovered it, perhaps I'm no longer going to buy Dell laptops. The GPU is attached to a thin metal that did not have a heat pipe connected to the fan, just purely cooled by a sheet of metal. Damn.

0 likesDid you know you can shrink it even more with wimboot or compact os? I actually use compact os for my 32gb ssd inside my laptop and it works great. Less than 9gb for the untouched, full install compared to 15gb. Pretty significant for what it does.

You dont need a new computer to run Windows 11, its an artificial limitation. I dual boot Artix Linux and Windows 11 on my desktop from 2016, and was even able to get it to run on a laptop from 2006(after finding out that it was indeed a 64 bit laptop despite its age, I had to try it lol)

Realistically it should’ve really been running a lightweight Linux distro but it was running Windows 10
At the time Windows 10 Was (believe it or not) still light enough to run on a machine like this and even play some roblox games, of course as updates went on the machine became practically unusable with Windows 10 Though
Updates alone were enough to bring my storage down to like 7Gb and eventually I couldn’t even install the latest windows 10 Update because my internal drive didn’t even have the total storage for it
But it just goes to show how bloated Windows 10 Has gotten

I personally wouldn't advise Windows 2000 even if your hardware was old enough to run it- Windows 2000 just doesn't work with a lot of modern software.

This does not make any sense, they used windows Enterprise version for it. The windows enterprise version is 110 U$ license. So, you are reusing an old laptop for a shrink version of windows, and then pay 110U$ on a license? An actually enterprise versions are VLM so, you need a validation server on your network (KM).

and do you know why my hard disk failed because before when the hard disk was working then a file like 10 gb file was downloading then my google crashed because i ran minecraft and after that i smashed the hard disk like think that you are using your laptop and then smashed where the hard disk is located very hardly and my pc crashed i don't still remember what that error was but it crashed then i turned on my laptop again and when i enterted my password then it crashed again and again and never worked and from that day i was sad but i had my old stupid laptop it's very slow it has intel pentium 1gen so bad acer aspire and i was using that for few days and then i got a video on youtube that we can run windows 10 in a usb but you should have good amount of space and then i thought now this 64gb pendrive that i had will come in handy and from then i was using my pendrive to boot into my best laptop i always think that this is the best laptop i ever got in my life seriously after that i learned a lesson that what ever pc or laptop you get don't like smash into the hard disk then all was fine rn i am using my laptop as i am typing with my usb ofcrouse

0 likesFor a few months, I've been slowly working on a virtual operating system (you need to run it on another operating system) in Python. It has to work like that since Python can't really be packaged into assembly. Anyway, I'm doing it on a 1gb disk partition, and when all the user files are removed (music, pictures, etc.) it fits in a very small space (like double digits in megabytes.)

@@archlinus5066 As I said, it's not a real operating system; you have to run it on Windows. It's basically just a virtual machine. I believe it would be possible to make it work, though, if you mixed in a few other things to make the computer run Python.
