The "Read & Burn" book talks about how the Manscape track was added after the fact to be a more appealing pop single type track. (Which they also did on past albums with "Kidney Bingos" and "Eardrum Buzz", songs that weren't originally meant to be included on the albums but are actually the "hits".). Usually Wire is more interested in process and art, and less about creating a popular song but have often been pressured to add these tracks. Personally I love the last, overlong, weirdly structured track. :).
Solo act He Said from Wire member Graham Lewis are much much more successful and enjoyable electronica albums (especially Take Care) and Colin Newman's solo album "It Seems" is also a superior example of Wire related electronica. Both were released prior to Manscape. Wire's later album "The First Letter" (under the name Wir) is also a magnificent example of what they can do with technology given the chance.
Woah, it lives.
