If I'm understanding the basic gist of the lyrics correctly; he breaks away from some kind of global mind control spell, joins a freedom fighter group to trying to break the spell, then betrays them and turns their leader in just so he can return to the peace the spell once forced him to have. The part at 2:15 really feels like where he "falls to the senators' peace" and prepares to turn in his companions.
Gotta love when upbeat songs have troubling lyrics.
You know what I've always loved about Replacer's music? It's so unique and varied from song to song and this song is likewise. This song is so groovy that it's impossible to not like it!
Mhm, and not just that, it varies from pretty much anything else I have found. Thought that might just be to my own small sample size... All the same I love it for being its own thing. Regardless of what things exist around it.
This is certainly a Replacer track if I've heard one. I really do love the unique approach that you went for this one, instrumentally as always with your style & story wise too. It's definitely brilliantly done & has me following closely along with the lyrics that make me really love this more than I already do!! The instrumentation in here is brilliant, I love the smooth vibes that you start off with for the drums & then the guitar kind of progressions that are being played which are super unique as also addictive! The way it flows & then the change of sound once your vocals come in!! I really love the chilling sound that the instrumental has with those pads & the sound of them with the chords, love how your voice goes along with the chilling aspect of it. 0:50 ooooo, those harmonies are the besttttttttt, love your voice your always, and those 1:04, the notes around this bit ahhhhhhhh <3 This is a super well done song. The vibe of this song is extremely groovy fun & something I can jam to any time!! You have the catchy aspect of it, the story that I adore & the way it all sounds together as so with how the lyrics flow! Woo, it's so great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! REALLY LOVE THIS, LOVE YOUR CONCEPT & HOW YOU'VE INTERPRETED THAT WITH THIS. 2:22, MMMMM THE PIANO & PADS IN THIS BITTTT WOOOO <3 2:38 THE LYRICS & HOW IT'S SUNG IN THIS BIT, LOVE THAT PART. SUCH A SMOOTH TRACK, LOVE THE PIANO IN THE END & KEYTAR, MMMMMMM SOOOO TASTY. ALSO COVER ART IS GORGEOUS <3333333333
This is one of my top favorites tracks from the album!!! LOVE it so much with those Classic Rock vocals, and Prog Rock synths!! That blissful synth in the background throughout the track is my jam <333 It got me crazy during the live release party. Also, now that I can read the lyrics, I can appreciate the story of the song as well, and I LOVE IT!!! It's so deep and elaborate, it's like a fanfic!! Loving what you came up with, the poetic lyrics expressing that intricate story of a dark past where those in power and holding the Elements are doing a dystopia with fake smiles and brainwashing (from what I understood). Great that it has a happy ending! Much love for you and this track <333
I really don't think that this song has a "happy ending" pretty sure that in the end the character in the song gives up on being free, turns in the rest of the resistance and accepts the mind control by becoming part of the group that's responsible for it.
This is probably purely coincidental, but I got some major Led Zeppelin vibes as soon as the bassline with the guitars kicked in, and again when I heard the organ in the background. Love it.
Dude please, never stop the magic TwT this is one of your best tracks ever and every single time you keep surpassing yourself so yo, I really can't wait for the next one.
So glad you could bless us with your genius once more.
Damn bud, you never fail to make some cool sounds for us to love. Or maybe you fail a lot, but keep trying, which is why we love that which reaches us all the more. In any case, Thank you. And have a good time.
honestly the whole song gives off that vibe and some oldschool rhymes would not feel out of place had they been included instead, I suppose i just always view the drums as one of the most important part of hiphop and i noticed that first and formost
Catchy as all heck. Is there a companion fic to this piece? I'm curious, given certain details found in Season 8 spoilers if this is a song about a pre-corruption Chrysalis or something. Love the music!
That would make Chrysalis by far the oldest living character in MLP if it was the case, interesting idea but I never imagined her and the paper lady being the same character. No fic exists (that I'm aware of) though there were more details to the story which didn't make it into the song that I'd possibly like to find some way of putting out there, perhaps via more songs
I see a bunch of comments saying what the beginning of this song reminds them of, so I figured I’d add my thoughts. The beginning (0:06-0:26) reminds me of Kid Rocks you never met a mother quite like me, no clue why. LOVE the song btw, great work.
Before the age of enlightenment, war and mistrust crept in at any corner. Was it the nobleponies' nature, or was someone else responsible? And more to the point--which of those outcomes would be more terrifying? Haycartes never tried to identify the particular dangers in assumption, but only the potential for danger. But there is no point of view sufficiently conservative to pinpoint what must be eliminated to keep the devil from creeping in and ruining the scene, again and again and again.
