21:05 It's known as the Bootstrap Paradox or Ontological Paradox, where objects or information can exist without being created or having no distinguishable point of origin and is trapped in an infinite cause-effect time loop. In this case, the false information of a disaster that Twilight will continue to travel back to warn herself of forever.
Also the true information that time spells are in the Starswirl the Bearded section. Past Twilight didn't seem to know that until Future Twilight told her.
Well this episode shows three different views on the prospect of the future.
Twilight is showing the worrywart type. They have to be prepared no matter the cost. Spike is showing the who gives a dam type. They are the ones who do nothing because they don't care.
Pinkie is showing the type of people who live day by day but also sort of prepared for the little troubles that could happen
Actually four: Future Twilight pretty much outright said the future is inevitable and we shouldn't even bother trying to prepare for it.
Seriously though, to me, that came off as so trollish that It's About Time along with Lesson Zero cemented Twilight Sparkle as my least-favorite of the Mane Six until Magical Mystery Cure; IMO, the only good thing about her becoming an alicorn was that it gave her fucking personality a much-needed makeover.
...and then several bronies thought she said "Las Pegasus" instead ... making it semi-canon in IDW comics, causing it to replace actual canon later on.
Like, how is Fluttershy able to tame something that came from Tartarus itself?! Those are the hounds of Tartarus! Man, this is why Fluttershy will ALWAYS be a favourite for life! Now I can only imagine how she'd be able to face someone like Kane or The Undertaker!
13:03 I'm disappointed that there was no episode where Princess Twilight for some reason or other sent a flower pot into the past. Like when she was super powered.
1) Twilight learns the location of the time travel spell from her future self. 2) Twilight uses this knowledge to find the spell. 3) Twilight travels back in time, and tells her past self where to find the spell.
Now, here's the question: What was first Twilight's reason to go back in time and How did first Twilight know where to look for that spell? Past Twilight learned it from Future Twilight, but Future Twilight only knew because she learned it from her own future self when she was Past Twilight. At no point does Twilight learns to look for the spell without her future self telling her about that. So where did it came from?
That’s called a “bootstrap paradox” or a “casual loop”, when the origin of the loop or paradox cannot be determined and only exists in the loop itself.
There's a theory that the first twilight to travel back through time did so because there was an actual disaster that happened, causing her to find the time spell in the archives, because tirek did actually escape when cerberus left his place in tartarus, and the dam had cracks in it which would've caused it to break. There would've been an accident bad enough to cause twilight to look for the time travel spells and then travel through time. Once she tried to warn her past self the same sequence in the episode happened, causing twilight to overly worry and "fool-proof" equestria, which would prevent the accident from occurring in the first place, but twilight would still be worried as we see in the episode, therefore travelling back through time and then that's how the cycle was made.
Interesting how this episode become incredibly important for both the season 4 and 5 finales.
