Even the garbage Modern UI settings work fine with no fixes. I'm pretty sure that the apps that need the fixes have the code needed to support the Classic theme properly, but because of the weird way of enabling it that leaves DWM running they don't use that code.
I hope NOT! Then programmers no longer have to do dumb fallback code to support "classic" theme. Which is likely the reason why they abandoned this classic theme support so we can finally use some modern APIs not the legacy stuff.

It now has translucency, depth and 3D effects, reveal highlight effects, new icons with depth... Metro was just about the simplest UI with the flat design with no depth or shadows. Fluent is almost everything Metro is not. :)
Remember these themes doesn't increase performance. It just makes everything more laggy, windows 7 aero or windows 10 default UI uses DWM (desktop window manager). There is DirectX acceleration and vsync on it built-in.

Same for countless of things, and by the way, Linux is just the kernel most of what you see is the userland.

Q4OS with Trinity desktop has theme that looks like Windows Classic but with nicer icons and window decorations from KDE 3.5. There's a special Windows theme pack with propertiary icons from various Windows versions that makes it almost identical. The funny thing is that Q4OS with Trinity will perform better on old hardware than WinXP and will support almost everything that any modern OS supports.
in Windows NT 6.1/6.0/5.2/5.1 it's really easy to apply! On Windows NT 5.0/4.0/9x you don't need to worry about that since it's already the default theme, but I understanded perfectly what you meant.
Well you can get the actual classic theme from windows, and its glitchy as hell you even need to change shell from explorer to cmd cuz taskmgr dosent work and same goes for explorer shell, tho file explorer works, here how to do it, go into a pe and delete those files, C:\Windows\System32\Windows.Ui.Logon.dll, C:\Windows\System32\sihost.exe, copy rundll32.exe as dwm.exe, and delete resources folder in windows, now i recommend you changing shell. Either on the pe, or in safe mode with cmd.
It's just preference, it's easy to customize windows with software, only if you know what you are doing. Linux, of course, is probably easier cause its a development os, made specifically for doing tasks like that. If you are the l33t hackerman[joke], go for linux. Anything else, better to stick to windows if you are doing personalized tasks or possibly mac if you are only doing graphics and such(like video editing and photo editing etc.)

If you don't like Windows' interface, you can't customize it much, so you should just deal with it. The way of installing software on Linux is much better and has WAY LESS potential to get a virus. " Not a fact. Try changing your window manager on Windows. While alternative graphical shells exist for Windows, it's a lot more clumsy to set up than it would be on Linux. Also, installing applications on Linux is actually easier due to package management, so saying that takes 10x longer isn't true, as it's easier to run `sudo pacman -S firefox` than to go to Firefox's website and download some stupid installer that is different for every application.

There's a big fundamental difference between Windows power-users, and Linux power-users. On Windows, you often use big bloated programs to do stuff (Photoshop, other Adobe Suite apps, Microsoft Office, etc). Linux power-users tend to want to follow the so-called Unix philosophy. Basically, the Unix philosophy is for applications to do one thing, and do it well. This means many Linux/Unix applications are very minimal, and to do anything complex, you'd use multiple small applications instead of a single very big application. This has both advantages and disadvantages, but when minimal software doesn't fit our needs, there are also Linux/Unix applications that are big and do not follow the Unix philosophy (GIMP and Krita, for example. Correct me if I'm wrong). Meanwhile, on Windows you often only have the choice to use bloated and big software, because Windows applications very rarely, if ever, follow the Unix philosophy. There is some minimal software that does also run on Windows, so you're not completely out of luck, but it's still quite a pain compared to Unix-like operating systems like Linux or BSD.
The Unix philosophy is also the reason Unix-like operating systems are much more fragmented and customizable than Windows. Windows is a very big and bloated operating system which consists of the NT kernel, a window manager of sorts, a file manager (Windows Explorer), a web browser (Internet Explorer and Edge), and many more included applications/systems/libraries/whatever. Linux is only just a kernel, really. Many other applications fill the other needs, which as a whole is referred to as an operating system, or a Linux distribution in this case. Linux as kernel, systemd as init system, GNU coreutils for all the basic minimal applications one may use inside a terminal, pacman as package manager, Xorg as display server, i3 as window manager, etc.
It's all separated into separate applications, meaning you can often replace them with something else, if you want. Doing that on Windows is much much harder, if it's even possible. Unix's minimalist approach to software allows for a lot of customization. That's also the reason there are so many different Linux distributions. They're all just a bunch of applications squashed together to form an OS. I'm more of a fan of minimal distributions like Arch Linux, where the base system is only just Linux, systemd, pacman, coreutils, and you install the rest yourself, as this prevents your system from being a bloated mess, and you have more of an idea of what is installed on your system.

You can just stick to one well-known and well-maintained distro, and install everything you need. Is there something a different distro has that you don't? In many cases, you can just install those things yourself as well, without having to switch distro. There are some exceptions where things get more complicated, like trying to switch init system often doesn't go well, or trying to switch package manager, which also doesn't go well, as that's how you receive your distro's software and updates. But for typical user applications (that includes the entire graphical look of the OS), you can swap them out for something else rather easily.

Photoshop probably has more features, but image editing is not my career, so GIMP works for me. I guess for cases like this you do need Windows. For drawing applications, there's a free and open source drawing program called Krita, which is actually really decent, and real artists actually make use of it. But if you're image editing as a career, switching over to Linux will be more of a hassle than anything. I'm playing around with Linux for fun, and am actually interested in learning it. You're probably better off staying with Windows if you have such a negative attitude towards Linux.

Honestly, I am pretty pissed off that we don't have the Windows 7 Aero theme as it was a big reason why people didn't want to move over to 10 or even 8. Windows 7 was just rock solid and incredible in the same reasons that Windows 2000 was great. Microsoft needs to listen to the community and stop worrying about marketshare and profits, and just give the people what they want, and that is a classic theme from the 9x/NT days and Aero 7.
Story time! One time I saw a Walmart computer running a horribly glitched W10 with the basic theme. Everything still worked, you had to Win+R to do stuff though since the Explorer UI was broken but it was somewhat usable.
Another thing you should have done was disabling all visual animations and stuff not related to the classic theme, because really, fade-in and fade-out animations with classic theme makes the entire thing quite cursed
Big question for me is... Is Windows10 able to have the UI processed solely on the CPU instead of letting the GPU handle it? The huge advantage classic-type themes in older windows versions have, is that the whole image is being processed by the CPU and the GPU is simply putting it through to the display without doing any calculations itself relating to the image process, which improves responsiveness GREATLY (but also leaves artifacts behind fairly often which i am okay with tho)

Jebbidan no it's a bug on windows 10 itself and not the theme because I applied 8 bit color on a program and the controls of the program is classic theme cause of 8 bit color, however if the program will open the common file dialog then I right click I get blank font on right click menu
The context menu on Windows 10 when classic theme is broken. However Windows 10 Whistler Edition R2 Fixes this bug. If you want Windows classic theme. Your better off using Windows 10 Whistler Edition R2 to fix the broken context menu

PSA: Don't do this unless ya wanna break windows. If you already did and want to undo everything, download winaero tweaker, click advanced appearance setting then reset advanced appearence and click sign out! This will fix all your problems

Sorry for late reply There may be some problem left over on your pc like right click option may be wider then expected, if you want to make sure your windows 10 is 100% fixed I suggest doing a clean install. But if you're fine with it as is then feel free to leave it be! Also, If you want to ever have your windows 10 to look like 95/98 for sure try out windows blind, you can freely go from xp, 95/98, 7, 8/8.1 and even like linux mint! Whenever you get bored of the styles, feel free to go back to default wimdows 10! There is also other stuff like openshell/classic shell that gives you free reign of the startmenu and task bar customization
It's incredible how the classic theme still looks modern, even after 24 years. The XP, Windows 7 and even the Windows 10 look (which is starting to) looks dated to death.

my school computers have classic shell pre-installed for some reason. They also block almost every setting you could possibly change. Except wallpapers.
Microsoft should bring back the classic theme in the next update of windows 10. It is not anything (nothing to do) about technical issues like insufficient memory on some computers. Some users like me love the tastes of nostalgia. For me, I really love the fashions and designs of the 70s,80s and 90s. So as I miss the old style user interfaces of windows used in 95, 98, Me & 2000. Indeed, this classic theme of windows is still easy to use, adheres to Jakob Nielsen rules.
Attention: this is NOT a functional "Windows Classic Theme". Don't try it on your computer, as it will break your Windows 10 installation. Watch the video untill the end before trying anything!
How could anyone use Windows without the context menus? This is just insane! You shouldn't have posted the video as a tutorial for installing some kind of "Windows Classic Theme" when, in fact, this "theme" is not functional and breaks Windows 10. Have you ever thought about the number of people who may start following your "step-by-step guide" to discover, only at the end of the video, that it actually broke their systems? The lack of context menus is not simply a "con". It is a very serious issue, as it turns the system useless in the way most people are used to it. How to completely undo all these changes? Formatting and reinstalling Windows 10 is the only way possible.

To anyone who says acceleration of modern themes is faster, you're basically using a theme built to run on Windows 95 w/ a 20mhz processor & 4MB RAM - to render this theme on any machine of anyone reading this takes almost, literally, ZERO resources.

I don't know why, but I have this "Microsoft Text Input Application" in the taskbar, how can I get rid of it? And also, If I right click on my Dekstop or anywhere, I don't get the options, I only get a blank window with some arrows.
I accidentally changed the theme in the Display Settings while the Classic theme was disabled, and now all the fonts are different.
EDIT: Fixed it by enabling the Classic theme, then disabling it again and logging out. So, uh, lesson learned: DON'T SCREW AROUND WITH THE DISPLAY SETTINGS WHEN THE CLASSIC THEME IS OFF.

FUN FACT: At least on my windows install when you alt-tab out of American Truck Simulator (running from steam at least), the window selection screen (the way you select what window to alt-tab into) looks like it's classic theme. :)

If you don't have Explorer windows have the classic theme, move the files for the classic theme into a folder called "Classic" and then move it to the root of C:. Worked for me.

I just want the close, maximize and minimize buttons to look square like they did in Windows 98... This mod does that, but unfortunately it also does a lot of other things that I don't want. I tried to edit the batch file to disable old task manager and the classic explorer right click menus (since they don't work anyway) but this is the most obnoxious batch script ever, it's impossible to remove anything from it. I gave up after 2 days.

If you want to get the classic theme without the glitches and are willing to pay $15, try Stardock WindowBlinds. You can download a classic theme for windowblinds from deviantart or wincustomize.com and apply it. I wish just return the taskbar with notifications from Win7 classic and have window with classc borders and titles (ideally with gradient but at least different active/inactive background color). Border between title and window content would be useful too. Do I need to patch system files and do many dangerous things for that? I installed RetroBar. It is not bad but has some issues with notification icons, they are too dense, no calendar on clock click, no system context window on tasks.

Interesting solution but I prefer programs that don't modify windows directly as if Microsoft decides to update at any point its possible to brick the OS. My work around was just use Windowsblinds. Haven't had a problem with it yet.
So if I applied a custom theme (if you don't know what it is, in Windows 10 you can only customize in High Contrast mode, in Windows Vista you can customize at any time, and a Vista theme in a brand new Windows 10 PC results in a partially customized mess) what would happen?

Link is dead to the Classic Theme Pack. Would like access to the Windows 9x themes if possible, open-shell doesn't have it. Best I can do to mimic it is to use the <no skin> option.
And how to set the Task Manager to the default? The program is no longer installed and the old themed stuff is no longer installed, but the old version of task manager is used by windows, so i can't set which program to start and which not to start when i turn on my computer. I would just like to point out that Troyan32 / Occamy.C12 Virus has been detected in the taskbar.exe in the classic pack. The win defender will automatically delete the exe after extraction.
I do not wanna try on the host PC cuz it will break anything! And lose data. So much better if you don't need the classic theme. I want the model of just stylish and original win10 style.

Delete the installation files for the classic theme off your pc, then install winaero and select reset advanced appearance, it will fix most problems! You can also do a fresh install of windows 10 to make sure everything is fine I suggest using windowsblind as you have a massive library of themes to choose from! You can also go back to default windows 10 whenever you want

Your windows 10 is broken by this classic theme Install winaero tweaker and reset advanced appearance, should fix some problems I also suggest a fresh install of windows 10 to get rid of all problems Use windowsblind for windows 10 customization, you can grab the classic theme from their website and revert changes whenever you want!
Create a new key called dwm.exe in dwm.exe create a new string called Debugger with this line in it: "rundll32.exe"
Now restart PC and Windows 7 aero classic will be enabled. If you use the hidden Aero Lite theme a new hibrid Aero will be applied with small classic like buttons but win 10 theme. If you rename the Resources folder in Windows/ you will get classic theme like in the video without any program.
Make sure your doing it as an administrator by right clicking the classic theme batch file and clicking run as administrator, when the uac window comes up hit yes
Delete the classic pack then go to task scheduler and delete (classic_1, classic_0,classic taskbar and volume mixer) then go to C:\Program files\and delete Vistacalculator and win7taskmanger Then run regedit and go to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ and delete MTCUVC

This does not contain any malware. Also this is the real classic theme, ClassicX and windowblinds themes are not that accurate to the real thing yet. You can use explorercontextmenutweaker to fix the context menu.
Install winareo and once done click reset advanced appearance, should fix most problems. Your right click option may still be wide If you want a better classic theme I suggest downloading windowsblind as you are able to try out xp, 7 8 and classic and go back to 10 whenever you desire.

You can easily fix most problems by installing winaero, it has the option to reset most if not all changes done to your pc To reset changes just click the option Reset advanced appearance and walla If you still want the classic theme please download windowsblind! You can do so much more such as trying out 7, 8 classic and can go back to default 10 whenever you want

You can fix this using winaero, when you have it installed select reset advanced appearance and if will fix most problems I suggest using windowblinds as it comes with a whole plethora of themes by default and on their website plus you can freely go back to default windows 10
Good attempt, but i'm afraid it goes way too far. I have the Classic Shell installed and that's it. Imo what is badly missing is an easy to use and efficient file search addon. The current (since Win7) search box is hard to use, and incredibly slow. Esp it takes forever to search sth in an external HDD. No doubt, Microsoft replaced a well-designed search mechanism with sth that in many cases is almost unusable, and implemented it using much slower file/dir management services. What was it intended for? Searching in some 20 files in your Documents folder on your windows-based mobile phone? Imo... it can't do anything beyond that!... Search in Windows up to XP version was waaaayyyy faster!... I know there are quite a few alternatives out there, but none looks, feels and performs quite close to the 2000 or XP ones, unfortunately...
Careful, UninstallTool.exe is a prepscram and Taskbar.exe is a Trojan Occamy.C12. Seems like this noob thinking about being a smartie, with autologon script within this theme to start his own trojans on your system. There are other themes out there that won't break windows that are easily reversible. Yes, you won't get the classic icons, but it's basically a color palette swap for your windows, menu bar etc. I suggest this:

KDE is trash and uses twice the RAM and storage space of Xfce. Xfce is lightweight and I can actually very easily customize it to look like anything I want, including aero and luna-like themes. @phrazze All of my apps work perfectly with the Classic theme using some fixes. Even the garbage Modern UI settings work fine with no fixes. I'm pretty sure that the apps that need the fixes have the code needed to support the Classic theme properly, but because of the weird way of enabling it that leaves DWM running they don't use that code.

It now has translucency, depth and 3D effects, reveal highlight effects, new icons with depth... Metro was just about the simplest UI with the flat design with no depth or shadows. Fluent is almost everything Metro is not. :)

Q4OS with Trinity desktop has theme that looks like Windows Classic but with nicer icons and window decorations from KDE 3.5. There's a special Windows theme pack with propertiary icons from various Windows versions that makes it almost identical. The funny thing is that Q4OS with Trinity will perform better on old hardware than WinXP and will support almost everything that any modern OS supports.

1 likeWell you can get the actual classic theme from windows, and its glitchy as hell you even need to change shell from explorer to cmd cuz taskmgr dosent work and same goes for explorer shell, tho file explorer works, here how to do it, go into a pe and delete those files, C:\Windows\System32\Windows.Ui.Logon.dll, C:\Windows\System32\sihost.exe, copy rundll32.exe as dwm.exe, and delete resources folder in windows, now i recommend you changing shell. Either on the pe, or in safe mode with cmd.

Linux, of course, is probably easier cause its a development os, made specifically for doing tasks like that. If you are the l33t hackerman[joke], go for linux. Anything else, better to stick to windows if you are doing personalized tasks or possibly mac if you are only doing graphics and such(like video editing and photo editing etc.)

1 like@@can2835 My opinion is that while the majority of Linux users still are just hobbyists, I think that Linux can be a good customer OS that even your grandma can use (if they can use Windows). And I actually think it is, just not in the market. I think that Linux is way easier to use and learn than Windows, especially with the fact that you can choose a DE that is easier to use, while on Windows, you have almost no choice of UI. If you don't like Windows' interface, you can't customize it much, so you should just deal with it. The way of installing software on Linux is much better and has WAY LESS potential to get a virus.

2 likesNot a fact. Try changing your window manager on Windows. While alternative graphical shells exist for Windows, it's a lot more clumsy to set up than it would be on Linux.
Also, installing applications on Linux is actually easier due to package management, so saying that takes 10x longer isn't true, as it's easier to run `sudo pacman -S firefox` than to go to Firefox's website and download some stupid installer that is different for every application.

It doesn't take 10x longer? You seem so frustrated that you're making up arguments that are coming from absolutely nowhere. Or maybe your arguments actually have a source, but that source (perhaps you) just doesn't know how to use Linux/Unix properly.
There's a big fundamental difference between Windows power-users, and Linux power-users. On Windows, you often use big bloated programs to do stuff (Photoshop, other Adobe Suite apps, Microsoft Office, etc). Linux power-users tend to want to follow the so-called Unix philosophy. Basically, the Unix philosophy is for applications to do one thing, and do it well. This means many Linux/Unix applications are very minimal, and to do anything complex, you'd use multiple small applications instead of a single very big application. This has both advantages and disadvantages, but when minimal software doesn't fit our needs, there are also Linux/Unix applications that are big and do not follow the Unix philosophy (GIMP and Krita, for example. Correct me if I'm wrong).
Meanwhile, on Windows you often only have the choice to use bloated and big software, because Windows applications very rarely, if ever, follow the Unix philosophy. There is some minimal software that does also run on Windows, so you're not completely out of luck, but it's still quite a pain compared to Unix-like operating systems like Linux or BSD.
The Unix philosophy is also the reason Unix-like operating systems are much more fragmented and customizable than Windows. Windows is a very big and bloated operating system which consists of the NT kernel, a window manager of sorts, a file manager (Windows Explorer), a web browser (Internet Explorer and Edge), and many more included applications/systems/libraries/whatever.
Linux is only just a kernel, really. Many other applications fill the other needs, which as a whole is referred to as an operating system, or a Linux distribution in this case.
Linux as kernel, systemd as init system, GNU coreutils for all the basic minimal applications one may use inside a terminal, pacman as package manager, Xorg as display server, i3 as window manager, etc.
It's all separated into separate applications, meaning you can often replace them with something else, if you want. Doing that on Windows is much much harder, if it's even possible. Unix's minimalist approach to software allows for a lot of customization. That's also the reason there are so many different Linux distributions. They're all just a bunch of applications squashed together to form an OS. I'm more of a fan of minimal distributions like Arch Linux, where the base system is only just Linux, systemd, pacman, coreutils, and you install the rest yourself, as this prevents your system from being a bloated mess, and you have more of an idea of what is installed on your system.

Please note that needlessly switching distros isn't going to help you. You can just stick to one well-known and well-maintained distro, and install everything you need. Is there something a different distro has that you don't? In many cases, you can just install those things yourself as well, without having to switch distro. There are some exceptions where things get more complicated, like trying to switch init system often doesn't go well, or trying to switch package manager, which also doesn't go well, as that's how you receive your distro's software and updates. But for typical user applications (that includes the entire graphical look of the OS), you can swap them out for something else rather easily.

I know you're hating on GIMP, but I myself have no trouble with it. Photoshop probably has more features, but image editing is not my career, so GIMP works for me. I guess for cases like this you do need Windows. For drawing applications, there's a free and open source drawing program called Krita, which is actually really decent, and real artists actually make use of it. But if you're image editing as a career, switching over to Linux will be more of a hassle than anything. I'm playing around with Linux for fun, and am actually interested in learning it. You're probably better off staying with Windows if you have such a negative attitude towards Linux.

Fair enough. Video editing on Linux isn't the best. Although Shotcut has been working pretty fine for me personally. I've heard kdenlive is also used a lot among Linux YouTubers. Wine has been getting a lot of improvements over the last couple of years. And personally, I want to blame the game developers for developing for Windows only. If every game developer would have used OpenGL/Vulkan instead of DirectX (Micro$oft's embrace extend extinguish garbage), a lot of things would've been better already. Game developers should use cross-platform technologies, but many of them don't, which is a shame.

Windows 7 was just rock solid and incredible in the same reasons that Windows 2000 was great. Story time! One time I saw a Walmart computer running a horribly glitched W10 with the basic theme. Everything still worked, you had to Win+R to do stuff though since the Explorer UI was broken but it was somewhat usable.

3 likesThe huge advantage classic-type themes in older windows versions have, is that the whole image is being processed by the CPU and the GPU is simply putting it through to the display without doing any calculations itself relating to the image process, which improves responsiveness GREATLY (but also leaves artifacts behind fairly often which i am okay with tho)

0 likesThere may be some problem left over on your pc like right click option may be wider then expected, if you want to make sure your windows 10 is 100% fixed I suggest doing a clean install. But if you're fine with it as is then feel free to leave it be!
Also,
If you want to ever have your windows 10 to look like 95/98 for sure try out windows blind, you can freely go from xp, 95/98, 7, 8/8.1 and even like linux mint! Whenever you get bored of the styles, feel free to go back to default wimdows 10!
There is also other stuff like openshell/classic shell that gives you free reign of the startmenu and task bar customization

Have you ever thought about the number of people who may start following your "step-by-step guide" to discover, only at the end of the video, that it actually broke their systems? The lack of context menus is not simply a "con". It is a very serious issue, as it turns the system useless in the way most people are used to it. How to completely undo all these changes? Formatting and reinstalling Windows 10 is the only way possible.

So, uh, lesson learned: DON'T SCREW AROUND WITH THE DISPLAY SETTINGS WHEN THE CLASSIC THEME IS OFF.

I tried to edit the batch file to disable old task manager and the classic explorer right click menus (since they don't work anyway) but this is the most obnoxious batch script ever, it's impossible to remove anything from it. I gave up after 2 days.

You can download a classic theme for windowblinds from deviantart or wincustomize.com and apply it. 1 likeI wish just return the taskbar with notifications from Win7 classic and have window with classc borders and titles (ideally with gradient but at least different active/inactive background color). Border between title and window content would be useful too. Do I need to patch system files and do many dangerous things for that? I installed RetroBar. It is not bad but has some issues with notification icons, they are too dense, no calendar on clock click, no system context window on tasks.

Right click works fine. File explorer uses a more modern menu system and hence is broken. Right click menus should work everywhere else

Delete the installation files for the classic theme off your pc, then install winaero and select reset advanced appearance, it will fix most problems!

@@sleepntsheep1169 Well on a VM it's useless trash. Just install Edge deflector and you should be fine. But if you ever uses a touchscreen on Windows 10, you'd know that the only browser that really works with touch is Edge (ironicly chrome got redesinged to fit touch better but still sucks for it on windows).

You just need to change a registry thing. But a lots of things will break.

Create a new key called dwm.exe
in dwm.exe create a new string called Debugger with this line in it: "rundll32.exe"
Now restart PC and Windows 7 aero classic will be enabled. If you use the hidden Aero Lite theme a new hibrid Aero will be applied with small classic like buttons but win 10 theme.
If you rename the Resources folder in Windows/ you will get classic theme like in the video without any program.

Make sure your doing it as an administrator by right clicking the classic theme batch file and clicking run as administrator, when the uac window comes up hit yes

Problem:Wordpad is classic and cannot be fixed
1 likeDelete the classic pack then go to task scheduler and delete (classic_1, classic_0,classic taskbar and volume mixer) then go to C:\Program files\and delete Vistacalculator and win7taskmanger

0 likesYou can easily fix most problems by installing winaero, it has the option to reset most if not all changes done to your pc

If you still want the classic theme please download windowsblind! You can do so much more such as trying out 7, 8 classic and can go back to default 10 whenever you want

You can fix this using winaero, when you have it installed select reset advanced appearance and if will fix most problems

You probably did this incorrectly, and remember, not every Windows 10 version would work with this!

1 likeGood attempt, but i'm afraid it goes way too far. I have the Classic Shell installed and that's it. Imo what is badly missing is an easy to use and efficient file search addon. The current (since Win7) search box is hard to use, and incredibly slow. Esp it takes forever to search sth in an external HDD. No doubt, Microsoft replaced a well-designed search mechanism with sth that in many cases is almost unusable, and implemented it using much slower file/dir management services. What was it intended for? Searching in some 20 files in your Documents folder on your windows-based mobile phone? Imo... it can't do anything beyond that!... Search in Windows up to XP version was waaaayyyy faster!... I know there are quite a few alternatives out there, but none looks, feels and performs quite close to the 2000 or XP ones, unfortunately...

Seems like this noob thinking about being a smartie, with autologon script within this theme to start his own trojans on your system. 1 likeThere are other themes out there that won't break windows that are easily reversible. Yes, you won't get the classic icons, but it's basically a color palette swap for your windows, menu bar etc. I suggest this:

i was exposed to the most UGLY top bar i’ve ever seen on windows 10, when the installation failed. it was a combination of windows 98 and windows 7! it looked GOD AWFUL.
i had NO idea how to remove it, and you know three things that don’t mix? terraria, my computer and fullscreen!
then i tried getting rid of it. disabling the theme. all it did was go “access denied” before spamming “operation completled successfully.” and then it just quit. it didn’t do anything!
and then i went to settings, and changed the theme to windows 10. I THOUGHT I HAD GOTTEN RID OF IT. the ugly window border. the ugly windows file explorer. but NOPE.
then i fumbled around a bit and opened an executable. IT TOTALLY TRASHED MY START BAR! my computer looked SO UGLY that it was practically unusuable, so now i have no choice but to reinstall it AGAIN.
