Spektakel biography
Spektakel was founded as a trio in 1969. Detlef Wiedecke (guitar), Eduard Schicke (drums) and Werner Protzner (bass) were members of Oldenburg's underground rock scene. Their shared relationship was a passion for spontaneous inprovations and deep purple music. They found an isolated rehearsal area in the countryside where they could get stuck. These sessions would last for hours, sometimes even days! Gigs would always start with cover versions of Deep Purple songs and end with long improvisations. SPEKTAKEL concerts would sometimes last five hours. All three musicians moved with their families to Steenfelde, Ostfriesland, where they built a house together (thanks to Friedel Pormann!).
In 1973, Detlef switched from guitar to keyboard (Hammond organ, Moog synthesizer and Mellotron).
A lot of guitarists auditioned for the band. In the end, they decided on Heinz Fröhling, who moved to SPEKTAKEL-HOUSE with his wife and daughter Melanie. The band practiced all the time. Although the songs were more harmonious, they still left room for improvisation. SPEKTAKEL music has combined all styles from hard rock to 12-tone music! They wrote music and lyrics together. They lived together. They worked together. Ultimately, that was why this version of the band lasted only a year. SPEKTAKEL's gigs became legendary for the huge light show and the equipment used. Even today, people remember their gigs. Shortly after the music on this CD was recorded, the band broke up. Heinz and Ede joined Gerd Führs and founded Schicke Führs Fröhling.

Leur relation commune était une passion pour les inprovations spontanées et la musique deep purple. Ils ont trouvé une zone de répétition isolée dans la campagne où ils pouvaient rester coincés. Ces séances duraient des heures, parfois même des jours! Les concerts commençaient toujours par des reprises de chansons de Deep Purple et se termineraient par de longues improvisations. Les concerts SPEKTAKEL duraient parfois cinq heures. Les trois musiciens ont déménagé avec leurs familles à Steenfelde, Ostfriesland, où ils ont construit une maison ensemble (grâce à Friedel Pormann!).

La musique SPEKTAKEL a combiné tous les styles, du hard rock à la musique 12 tons! Ils ont écrit de la musique et des paroles ensemble. Ils vivaient ensemble. Ils ont travaillé ensemble. En fin de compte, c’est pourquoi cette version du groupe n’a duré qu’un an. Les concerts de SPEKTAKEL sont devenus légendaires pour l’énorme spectacle de lumière et l’équipement utilisé. Même aujourd’hui, les gens se souviennent de leurs concerts. Peu de temps après l’enregistrement de la musique de ce CD, le groupe s’est séparé. Heinz et Ede ont rejoint Gerd Führs et ont fondé Schicke Führs Fröhling.

Njihova zajednička veza bila je strast za spontanim inprovizacijama i glazbom Deep Purplea. Pronašli su izolirani prostor za probe na selu gdje su mogli zaglaviti. Ove sesije bi trajale satima, ponekad čak i danima! Svirke bi uvijek počele s cover verzijama Deep Purple pjesama i završavale dugim improvizacijama. SPEKTAKEL koncerti bi ponekad trajali pet sati. Sva tri glazbenika preselila su se sa svojim obiteljima u Steenfelde, Ostfriesland, gdje su zajedno izgradili kuću (zahvaljujući Friedelu Pormannu!).
Detlef se 1973. prebacio s gitare na klavijature (Hammond orgulje, Moog sintesajzer i Mellotron).
Mnogi gitaristi su bili na audiciji za bend. Na kraju su se odlučili za Heinza Fröhlinga, koji se preselio u SPEKTAKEL-HOUSE sa suprugom i kćeri Melanie. Bend je stalno vježbao. Iako su pjesme bile skladnije, ipak su ostavile prostora za improvizacije. SPEKTAKEL glazba je spojila sve stilove od hard rocka do 12-tonske glazbe! Zajedno su pisali glazbu i tekstove. Živjeli su zajedno. Radili su zajedno. U konačnici, to je bio razlog zašto je ova verzija benda trajala samo godinu dana. SPEKTAKEL-ove svirke postale su legendarne po ogromnom svjetlosnom showu i korištenoj opremi. I danas se ljudi sjećaju svojih svirki. Nedugo nakon što je glazba na ovom CD-u snimljena, bend se raspao. Heinz i Ede pridružili su se Gerdu Führsu i osnovali Schicke Führs Fröhling.
