This is one of my favorite episodes in season 3. I'm glad to hear you liked it too. I really like the way they're developing Sokka's character. It would have been easy for the writers to keep him as comic relief but they're going all the way giving him the spotlight he deserves. Sokka is such an endearing and relatable character.
I also liked how this episode showed how Sokka is the glue that connects Team Avatar. I thought it was clever writing by showing how they were affected by Sokka's absence instead of directly saying it.
The scenes with Iroh were a nice touch. The first time I watched this episode I was happy he has not given up.
Thank you again for your wonderful reactions. I'm always looking forward to a new update. I'm currently catching up to Brotherhood and it's a great experience watching it with you together. I'm glad I've given this show another chance.
This is one of my top episodes for book 3!sokka focused episodes are always interesting since they don’t focus on bending!I can’t wait for you to get to the beach episode (as every show needs(but I won’t spoil anything ofc
This is definitely an A+ episode for Sokka! Him learning swordsmanship from a master swordsman like Piandao was a real game changer and I really liked that. And that meteorite sword that Sokka forged, that was amazing! I also like to note on Iroh keeping himself in shape while in prison, an elderly man of his age even. Really great episode and great reaction as well!
Sokka is now a swordsman. Iroh is insanely resilient.

3 likesIroh: "Oh my, would you look at the time... It appears to be kick-ass o'clock, and I have nothing else to do but take over this entire episode."
5 likesAlso, between Toph's blushing here and that incident with Suki in the Serpent's Pass, the Blind Bandit is definitely on the Sokka waifu list.

3 likesSokka learning the ways of the sword is one thing, but learning it from someone voiced by T-1000 actor Robert Patrick? A plus!

1 likeEpisode 12? * Looks it up* Oh yeah, I remember that one clearly. One of my many favorites of season 3. IMO the episode that follows is a gem too.
1 likeBecause you said that I'm probably gonna check them out now!😂
3 likesThese guys actually made Sokka's 'Space Sword' IRL out of actual meteorite pieces. :)
