Actually the situation that was going on it is believable that twilight would say (I would be better off without friends like you) for several reasons:
1 Her home is being attack and she doesn’t know the state of it. 2 she’s never been outside of Equestria so leaving a country that you spent your whole life in is stressful. It like saying you have to go to Andorra tomorrow( if this pandemic thing wasn’t happening) 3 her friends didn’t realize the threat level was EXTREMELY EPICALLY INSANE HIGH and KEPT bringing attention them AT THE WORST POSSIBLE TIME!
4 twilight was beyond desperate.
5 it is a wonder why twilight didn’t snap before then.
@@ThrustersX Google drive uses the same copyright detection thing youtube does for videos, I've found lots of videos taken down on it so it's not a viable alternative
I can definitely see Twilight saying that because she did have a point. Her friends were being stupid and laughing throughout the whole mission and not taking it seriously like Pinkie yelling everywhere or Rainbow doing a Sonic Rainboom without thinking. I would get pissed off too.
Karin Maaka Yeah, I mean, Rarity was important in that she got Capper on their side, and if you watch Equestron’s Everything Right/Wrong with the MLP Movie video, he does a good job of pointing out how Applejack acts as the team mom, keeping things calm and together (at least, at first).
But yeah, there are no ifs, ands, or buts about it, Fluttershy really got shoved off to the side in this movie.
I think they really shoved Fluttershy, Applejack, and Rarity to the side too much, typically Applejack is a voice of reason when Twilight isn't around for the group and Fluttershy can be a source of comfort when things get hard to handle. As for Rarity she can fulfill Applejack and Fluttershy's roles in her own way. I understand why Pinkie and Dash get more parts in the movie, they are a lot more popular than the others, but I think the movie could have worked so well if every character got their own small part to play in the movie.
Karin Maaka I think it’s a consequence of the rest of the Mane Six, aside from Twilight (and to a lesser extent, Pinkie) being kinda shoved off to the side for the movie - so some of their notable characteristics were exaggerated so that newcomers to the franchise would (hopefully, at least) get a feel of what they’re like.
It’s in-character for Pinkie to kinda be screwing around like that, not taking things so seriously, but because the others were kinda shoved off to the side, they weren’t there to rein her in, which is, I feel, down to the fact above that they felt they had to introduce these characters in a limited time and so they got a bit exaggerated, unfortunately.
I mean, don’t get me wrong, I didn’t hate their portrayals or anything, I just realize there have been much better portrayals for each of them over the course of the series. I still think they were generally accurate (such as Rainbow Dash’s Sonic Rainboom being awesome and dumb - and totally in-character).
The thing is, it just makes the mane 6 OOC in general. Every other instance where the world was in danger they took it seriously, they didn't mess around like that. Even in freaking season 1 where they didn't really know each other much they took it seriously, even Pinkie was messing around and her song had a purpose.
And it was a running theme throughout the movie - Twilight thinking her friends were not up to the task, that she had to do everything on her own.
Like you mention, they really didn’t do anything to prove her wrong, and in fact, provided some ammo to prove her right (they clearly seem to not be taking things very seriously, or at least, not as seriously as Twilight wants - and then the whole thing with the Rainboom especially).
If you pay attention, you can see subtle signs to where Twilight has lost faith in her friends right after the rainboom - especially when they are in hiding. Notice how when Twilight looks around the room and comes up with a plan, she says “_I’ve_ got this” (emphasis mine), after the whole thing of the song “We Got This Together”.
Then also, remember how Celestia assigned the task of finding the hippogriffs (even if Twilight didn’t know that, specifically, at first). I’m sure that, since Celestia said it, Twilight locked into it as their only hope (perhaps there were other paths, perhaps not), considering she practically worships the ground Celestia walks on. Since she had already lost faith in her friends, when Queen Novo refused to help, she decided to resort to a desperate measure, since she figured her friends wouldn’t be able to help.
So then, when they wash ashore, and she figures that all is lost - also provoked by her friends (rightfully) getting angry at her for pulling such a stupid stunt, and (less so, but still rightfully) not trusting them, she ends up unloading all her frustrations, with how the journey has gone, with how she feels only she’s taking things seriously, etc - and unfortunately, it comes out like _that_.
I think that it’s (very sadly) in-character for Twilight to have a blowup at her friends like that, considering the circumstances.
Not gonna lie, for as far as she goes toward the end of the movie, Twilight is a pure mood through most of this. She is the "Are you seriously this goddamn dumb?!" voice of the viewer, and I am here for it
1:24:44 Tempest: "Why are you saving me?" Twilight: "Because this is what friends do." And at that moment, ironically, it was Tempest who opened up her eyes.
An all-star voice cast like Emily Blunt (done impressively well as Tempest Shadow), Taye Diggs, Sia, Kristin Chenoweth, Michael Peña, and Liev Schreiber were amazing alongside the main cast from the show.
As for Twilight's outburst, I can totally see it. She just watched the ponies she most looks up to wiped out within SECONDS, and her homeland completely overrun.
Yet Pinkie and Rainbow continue to not see the gravity of the situation, and both contribute to complicating matters. It's like Twilight said, they're not in Equestria anymore. Things won't magically get better. They need to grow up a little, or at least be a bit more sensitive to how serious things got.
We've all said things we instantly regret, and considering what she just had to put up with, I can see how those were the regretful words that came out. Not justified, but I can see why.
@@CuteAnimeGirl There still isn't much that can be done, the story was written with season 5 Twilight in mind, not season 7 Twilight. They can't just completely rewrite an important plot point (and yes I know this is a month old comment).

On your complaints about Bloomberg, think about it this way: The only way role he deserves to be in is main character and then they can't call the movie My Little Pony anymore. The actual Bloomberg standalone movie is being hit with a ton of delays as several directors quit since they just don't feel capable of showing him off with all his greatness

This movie is very important for me: It made me a brony and made me love Mlp, it is the First content about Mlp i watched. i loved the songs, the characters, especially Fluttershy, and the animation. after this movie, i searched more content about this universe and Found Equestria Girls and FiM. I never expected to become a lover of Mlp so quickly thanks to the movie...
As for why Discord or Starlight have no role in this movie, that's because despite the fact it's set up between Season 7 and 8, the production started way back in season 4 where Starlight wasn't even a thing and Discord's arc wan't really set up. But the movie is canon.
In-universe reasons for their absences can even be reasonably explained. Someone did a cute comic strip showing why Starlight didn't escape-- Trixie was, well, Trixie and Starlight was dragged along. ;) As for Discord, perhaps he was unaware at the time (he's not omnipresent or omniscient). He was there for the afterparty, but not for the setup, after all.
- The escape chase scene with the windmill in Klugetown mirrors Pirates of the Caribbean with the water wheel. - Meeting Princess Skystar in Seaquestria screams Little Mermaid. - Tempest’s villain song is like The Lion King with Scar in terms of atmosphere.
Quite a shame not many Bronies and reactors out there had no clue who Sia was years prior to being casted as Songbird Serenade. I sure knew her work since her single, “Titanium.”
On Twilight's little moment of shame, I agree it was totally out of character. However, she has said something like that in Season 2. During the premiere, when her friends were under Discord's spell, she yelled at them "With friends like you, who needs enemies". That's a pretty similar quote to this one.
I had the same reaction at first, but what I eventually came to interpret it as was that she wasn't saying it in general. She was saying it about that particular mission. I think she just picked the wrong words to say it. Had she said, "Maybe I should have come here without friends like you", it would have felt more believable because she was getting frustrated with how much they weren't taking the mission seriously that she likely would be thinking to herself that they shouldn't have come. After all, she did offer to do it alone at the beginning.
As for why she suddenly broke and said it, stress and tension could play a role, but there's also the setting. Going through deserts, slum cities, airships, flushing water, etc., would likely cause a lot of built up tension, especially being far away from home. It's like when a family goes on a trip and everyone is just getting on each other's nerves and someone says something they don't mean.
Apparently there is a lot of confusion over my copy of the movie. I merely received it from a friend, I do not know where he got it from. As for those of you that don’t like the new intro, I apologize. I guess that’s just up to interpretation because I liked this new intro better than the old one after seeing both. Again, I hope you all can understand and not get mad at me please. I viewed it in the way many friends recommended and I enjoyed it personally. Thanks for the support guys, but if you prefer the other intro I really am sorry.
Definitely prefer the new one. I suspect it's from the DHX leaks, because there were some things they made for the movie but then cut for purely "Hasbro" reasons (most notably replacing the original opening music with a dumb parody song)
I much prefer this one. Any chance you could find out from your friend where this version can be found online? I have been looking for it ever since I learned of its existence and have had no luck.
13:58 i really love the little detail here that right when twi sings "it's a promise to bring ponies together" and flies under the bridge, look who that is on the bridge! moondancer and friends!!
Glad to hear you enjoyed it! I saw it 7 (or maybe 8?) times in the theater (3 times at full price, and then 4 or 5 at a discount theater, just before the home media release) because I loved it so much.
One thing that I will point out is that it is not the DHX leaks - there were two different versions of the leak floating out there right after the release - one which seemed to be a direct rip of the theatrical projection file (with a countdown at the beginning and everything - because yeah, everything’s digital nowadays), and one which cut off the very end of the credits, and both of them featured “We Got the Beat” as the opening song.
I mean, it’s possible that things have changed since then, and a different version was leaked, but what I suspect happened is that someone (whether it was your friend themself or someone else and your friend just happened to find it) took that fan-restored intro and put it as the beginning of the movie, replacing the final version.
The stained glass intro scene was originally intended to be the intro scene in the movie, but was instead just included on the Blu-ray as a deleted scene. Also, the song “Equestria”, which Ingram wrote, was included on the movie’s official score track as a bonus track. So, a fan took the stained glass scene and added it in, and then replaced “We Got the Beat” with “Equestria” - probably by playing around with the audio channels in the 5.1 or 7.1 (whichever it is) audio - and that undoubtedly makes it sound much easier than it actually is, from what I’ve heard.
It was pretty exact - even Daniel Ingram thought so! Someone posted it to his Twitter and he commented that it was basically spot on with the timing in the original.
Other cool things about this movie are the fact that Daniel Ingram handled the score as well as the songs (and nothing against William Anderson, but I feel that Ingram is a better composer - I also really loved the score in all 4 musical episodes in the series, since Ingram did that as well), as well as the fact that he had an actual, full orchestra at his disposal for both the songs and score (the Nashville Film Orchestra).
This movie also introduced me to Sia, who has become one of only a handful of pop musicians whose stuff I actually like (1000 Forms of Fear is a fucking fantastic album, btw), so that’s cool.
I’ll continue in a reply, I think this comment is already long enough.
Speaking of the animation - yeah, instead of using Flash like (most of - see the mid-season 9 special, Rainbow Roadtrip) the rest of the show, they used a more advanced software called ToonBoom Harmony, and it certainly shows. This movie is just such a visual treat, from the fluid motion to the gorgeous color palettes. To really get the fluidity of everything, what they did is model the scenes in rudimentary 3D (using Maya, if I’m not mistaken), and then drew the 2D character models over that, using ToonBoom.
Speaking of (new) characters, I generally enjoyed them all! Obviously, Tempest was my favorite - not only was she the only one of them to be really developed at all, but it was just such a fantastic performance by Emily Blunt.
I should make that clear, I thought the voice acting was uniformly fantastic throughout the film - the Mane Six VAs seemed to perform at even above their usual high standard, and all the celebrities brought on seemed to really respect and enjoy working on the film, rather than just treating it as another paycheck. So even if I didn’t care for the character necessarily (Grubber really got on my nerves on first watch, but less so on rewatches), I thought the actor playing them did a great job.
After Tempest, I would have to say Capper (a cool cat played by Taye Diggs? How can you not like that?) and Skystar (she’s just so bubbly and lovable - and the song she has with Pinkie, “One Small Thing”, is probably my second favorite of the movie after “Open Up Your Eyes”) are my faves. Special mention to Captain Celaeno, though - I do love anthro birds and Zoe Saldana did a great job.
Sure, the movie is kind of rushed because of having to introduce all these characters, but it’s just so charming that I absolutely love it.
I rate it very highly, since I’m such a fan of the show and all, but I could see how it might frustrate a newcomer.
I love this movie! When I saw it in theaters on opening night, there were not only kids with their parents but bronies in the room too. It was quite the experience, let me tell you.
This movie is definitely one of the greatest animated films I’ve seen in years. It’s been so long since we’ve had a film like this on the big screen because most of the films we’ve had nowadays are CGI, so it was like a breath of fresh air to see this movie in a more traditionally animated viewpoint.
My favorite character of this movie is Tempest/Fizzlepop Berrytwist. I like all the other new characters of the film as well (such as Capper, Celaeno, Storm King, etc.), however Tempest stood out to me the most with her performance. From her dialogue, her presence, and especially her song.
Speaking of songs, the ones in this movie are really great, that goes for the films musical score too. My favorite of the bunch is “Time To Be Awesome,” with “Open Up Your Eyes” is my second favorite. I also like how we have singing pop star Sia added in not only as a singer, but having her own pony-sona character as well.
If there’s one thing that I would change, it’d be the Storm King’s amount of screen time. I found this villain to be great in my opinion. I only wish that there was more of him in this film, so that we could get to explore his character a bit more. You can say that I could check out the prequel comics for this, but I’ve already read it and I would have preferred to see bits of it in the movie itself. This is a minor nitpick from my end though, I still enjoy Storm King’s time in the movie.
From the amazing visuals, entertaining new characters, beautiful art style, and great story, My Little Pony: The Movie 2017 is among the best animated films I’ve seen in my life and I will always cherish every moment of it! Loved your reaction too, this was fun!
My guess is that they didn't want to give much screen time to a character who was going to be killed off, so none of the kiddies would get too attached to him and his death wouldn't be traumatic for them.
Twilight does behave "like that" on the anti-friendship thing, though. Once before. Season 2 premiere episode 2.
"With friends like you, who needs... enemies?"
She puts on a strong front, but it was a notable thing for discord that he did NOT alter her mind in any way, she came to the conclusion that her so-called "friends" were more hostile than Discord on her own accord. The seeds for discord exist within her, she just does an active and unceasing job of keeping them from blooming.
I'd give the movie a 5/10 non-brony score and a 9/10 brony score, your enjoyment of it really depends on your level of appreciation for the original show.
I agree. From the perspective of a Brony who is into the show, and wants to get some world building, it was very successful at doing that, but from the perspective of it being another animated movie, it was very cliche (their home town getting destroyed, having to go on an adventure to save their home town, a fight between friends about three quarters into the movie, ect.). I personally love this movie, and view it much more from the perspective of a fan of the show.
Her friends kept making the job harder instead of helping... to be honest. It felt like they were a bit OOC. They have never messed around this badly when there's serious trouble.
Part of the reason that Canterlot fell so easily was due to the element of surprise (times two at least)-- not only was the Storm King's forces arriving an ambush, they also had new technology(?) or magic with those green pokeball petrifying things. Also, the ball was able to affect a small area, not just the contact point, but to her credit, Luna did get off a shot and Cadence almost protected them with her shield, but didn't know how to counter the attack. The Mane Six and company used that same tactic and without Tempest or Storm King to lead them, the mostly mindless forces fell easily.
Twilight repeatedly saw her friends make (in her mind, blatant and dumb) mistakes, so she was far less trusting in addition to the stress. To her credit her saying such an awful thing was immediately regretted. I can see her blurting that out in the heat of the moment. It's not like she held a grudge or put real thought into it before saying it, so it rings true to me despite her role and characterization.
I hadn't seen the movie with the new intro (but I believe I saw the opening part separately), I liked it and wish they'd kept the intro in, but prefer the sillier new song before the beginning.
I really wish the movie had done better so we could get sequels. We'll get a sort of one, but I wonder what 'might have been' had it been a commercial hit.
Excellent reaction as always. I like the edited intro, but i don't mind the original either. I could go either way. I love the new characters. They got some deluxe quality VAs to voice in this movie. I particularly loved Emily Blunt as Tempest. She really nailed our purple edgelord. Tempest is hands down my favorite new character. She has a pretty threatening presence, and although her backstory was brief and and simple, I still really wanted to give her a hug after all she's been through. She'd probably break my neck in half, but yeah. I really don't blame you for that outburst at Twilight. Even I thought that was too much. I thought Twilight would have said something less blunt but give the same message. Even if she heavily implied that she would be better off without her friends, it still would have cut just as deep. That was not necessary for the plot to work. It also pains me that my beloved Fluttershy didn't get to do much in the movie, but I still appreciate what time she did get, especially when she talked to that storm guard. That was adorable even by her standards.
Two more seasons to go. You're getting there. You got this.
Compared to the parody intro they went with, it’s not as upbeat, and I guess you kind of feel the switch of mood more strongly when Tempest’s ship shows up. That said, I do like the original song intro probably just a tiny bit better. I can understand why they changed it, and I don’t mind either as they’re very close in quality for me, but I’m thankful I’ve heard their original composition too.
I definitely prefer the version of the intro that you reacted to. Daniel Ingram's music just fits better than an 80s pop cover. I also personally find the stained glass art at the beginning really beautiful.
I finally recently got around to watching the movie and so I watched this reaction, and I've got to say.... I'M SO GLAD, like so glad that I'm not the only one who thought this movie put Twilight wildly out of character with the friendship nonsense. Just so their plot would work they shafted her pretty hard.
great reaction. I personally like the original intro better, but that might also have to do with the fact I have watched this about 50 times with my daughter, so changing it was kinda weird to me just didn't fit. my favorite song is also "time to be awesome " my daughter's is "one small thing " nut we both also love "open up your eyes " that fight between twilight and pinkie broke most people. grown men cried it was horrible.
Yeah, at the last minute they stupidly decided to replace Daniel Ingram’s beautiful “Equestria” with the generic “Ponies Got the Beat” pop song. I really wanna punch whatever movie executive was responsible for that decision.
The only thing i dont like about the movie is the song that was sung at the party, its far top somber for victory, but once DJ Pon-3 got on the song it was great and fit the tone more, also a bit more storm king would have been nice and yeh the princesses....i expected it by this point
Luna tried (and failed) to fly away, Cadance blocked a soccer ball (unsuccessfully), and Celestia said some words (also unsuccessfully). Sounds about right for those three 😂
Also, I personally like to think that Starlight put up a good fight offscreen, and Tempest had to get involved in order to subdue her.
I have this movie on DVD. 1:12:51 I’m not surprised Rainbow would be the first one to say “What?!” in a really worried way after Spike said “She’s been taken!”, then determined to get her back.
Favorite to least favorite song of the movie 1. Open Up Your Eyes 2. Time To Be Awesome 3. I'm The Friend You Need 4. Rainbow 5. Off To See The World 6. One Small Thing 7. Ponies Got The Beat 8. We Got This Together
The frustration you felt seeing Twilight blow up is how I felt seeing RD do the damn sonic rainboom. I know RD is a hot-head and egotistical but she isn't stupid. She KNOWS her Rainbow can be see for MILES. I wanna know what she was thinking doing such a stupid stunt when they are trying to be under the radar and NOT get caught. That was a big, fat fucking arrow right to their location.
Tsk, the princesses are always taken down that easily. Also don't forget that Celestia and Luna are both over 1000 years old, so ya know... they're getting up there in age. I think after you've been around that long, just getting out of bed and having a coherent thought every day is an accomplishment. All the 'super powerful' stuff has probably just been propaganda for quite a long time now.
I am glad you enjoyed the movie, the movie was meant to bring new fans to the show. I agree, the princesses were even more useless then usual, twilight(starlight was written completely off, same goes to discord although in his case its more understandable) was at some parts out of character and I felt like the writers nerfed her for the plot. And not to mention all the weird decisions they made only to introduce a new species, they could have went to the dragon lands they would have been more useful then the hypogriphs anyway. I did enjoy tempest, I wish she was the main villain in the movie. The songs were good, with some great ones. Over all, I think the movie was pretty decent(it wasn't awful but I wouldn't pay money to watch it). I think they could have done one much better, the season 2 or season 4 finales, maybe even season 7 finale would have been better movies.
@@fizzycolalizzie From a practical point of view you are right, but I am talking about in universe. The movie is set after season 7, so I stand by my points. Discord was absent in many other season finales and premieres wen he could have helped so thats not shocking. If it was set in season 5 then I wouldn't complain about it(and the fact they shold have gone to one of their already existing allies first like the dragons), not to mention other plot conveniences.
I don't see how Starlight not being involved isn't understandable, since the writing of this movie happened before she was so relevant, or possibly before she was even in the show. Movies of this scale take a few years to make and they can't just chuck stuff in whenever, at least not big parts of the story. We should be grateful they even gave her a couple cameos because they really didn't have to. I would actually argue that it makes less sense for Discord to be absent.
Yeah wow like a few other people in these comments I'm confused as to why you got a version with different music at the beginning?? Never seen that before! I love it though honestly I wish I'd seen the movie this way before and I wish my copy had this haha
I knew there were slightly different versions circulating in some way (when Twilight is raised up into the light at the end of "Open Up Your Eyes", sometimes she has red eyes for a second like photograph redeye but sometimes she doesn't) but hadn't seen this before. Would love to know where you got your copy from PonyBro this is fascinating to me
I'm with you on the movie. Maybe even moreso than you. I have a bunch of problems with its storyline and writing, and I didn't even like all the songs. The new intro's cool though, I've never seen it before. And for all the problems I have with it, I love both antagonists (took me a while to truly appreciate Tempest, but still) and everything to do with them. I just always skip the "we got this together" song and whole underwater part when I watch this.
New intro?!?!?! I had no idea about this until now :c Heck... I watched the movie in the cinema at the first day and it didn't even have dub for songs (the rest of movie was in Ukrainian). Now I'm even more disappointed because I've paid for a completely uncooked product. At least I had a chance to rewatch this in such a perfect company :з
Sadly, pretty much none of the characters introduced in this movie can show up in speaking roles in the show since they were all voiced by special celebrity voice actors like Emily Blunt, Taye Diggs, Michael Peña, Liev Schreiber, Zoe Saldana, Uzo Aduba, Kristin Chenoweth and even Sia...who are all waaaay too expensive for a tv budget.
@@SpacialRend7 Possibly. Though with John de Lancie on the payroll, in addition to guest actors like William Shatner, Weird Al, Lena Hall and Patton Oswalt occasionally being hired as well, I'm guessing they can only afford to use so many high profile actors for the budget they have.
I’m not sure this would apply to Uzo Aduba that much since she voices Bismuth in Steven Universe every so often, when the episode plot demands it. So, if the MLP staff wanted to, they could have had Uzo come back to record for Novo.
It's not the reason for them not to have speaking roles though. It's a common thing for some big animated movies to have celebrity VAs, and then in TV shows produced later, just using substitute VAs. (And also, that's exactly what Hasbro planned for G5).
To be fair the princesses have strong magic, but they were never really good at fighting. They're taking down off screen amolst every season. I bet Twilight could kick their flanks.
well, you will react to the season 8 next...that season is in my opinion a great season, lot of new great characters will be introduced, in an all new context, with new characters development for the mane 6, some funny episodes, a unexpected plot in the season finale...you may will have some surprises in this season.
@@SunnyEquus hey, technically, i didn't wrote anything who will spoil season 8 for him , i didn't name the characters. or the conditions of characters development or the plot itself, i just say what he should expect for season 8, nothing more. and personally, this is not a surprise to see new characters developments in a new season because the 7 precedents seasons were partially about this and each season have brought new characters...
Whoa whoa, that was supposed to be a surprise! That's kinda spoiler for a blind reaction about characters lol It was even meant to be a surprise for regular viewers of the show, judging how it was presented in the premiere.
you have so much to react: season 8, season 9, The 3 specials of EG Magical Movie Night( Dance Magic, Movie Magic, Mirror Magic) the EG Summertime Shorts and Musicals shorts, The EG mini series 2 seasons and their specials episodes(5 in total). Mlp Anthology 3 ,4, 5, 6 and 7, Mlp Meets videos(Toucan LDM). My Kingdom for a Horse ( Season 4 summary Parody) and My Kingdom for a Horse 2(season 5 premiere summary parody) Pony literals songs... many more fan made videos.
but after you'll finishing reacting to G4, what do you will react next?... Are you going to continue to the generation 5 (4.5 for some peoples) incoming movie and future series to react to them or will you stop to G4 and reacting to another series you may love? (i recommend to you to react to Hazbin Hotel Pilot by Vivziepop.).
Nah I suggest he watches avatar or korra next after mlp, either that or another long running show or maybe even some youtube series like dbz abridged if he hasn't seen it already but for dbza he'd have to watch the original series first to get any jokes.

So what version or region of this did you watch? Noticed they opening song was different. In the theater and Blu ray version (US region) they start with a spoof song called Pony's got the beat"
Where did you get your copy of the movie? This has a modified intro sequence. I have been looking for this version of the film and haven't found it. Thanks.
"Where's Discord in all of this? Probably watching and laughing" Bruhhhh I snorted out loud and scared my cat 🤣🤣🤣 damn right you are, he is.
But dude...... brother, sir... seriously..... we... well I certainly didn't need to see uhm... *ahem that chest-muscle flexing.... the uh Bulk impression and everything. I- well am not 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 or anything. It's a kids show tho, put them away 👀
Am I the only one who understands Twilight's point of view? I get y she said wat she said. Y she acted how she did. They went OUTSIDE Equestria where they've never been before, where I'm assuming nopony's ever gone before. They no nothing of life beyond their home, nor their...customs. Twilight had the right mindset, and it was an important life lesson- ya know don't talk to strangers and all that- and she merely couldn't understand how these creatures would trust them the way other ponies do. She thought things would b very different outside of Equestria. Thought they couldn't win over those who live there with songs and friendly conversation. She had no idea wat this place would hav in store. I mean, say u went from America to Japan for a while, would u think people there were the same as people here? Would u think their customs and way of life would b the same as yours? Or would u think the opposite side of the world is nothing like u know here? Would U b able to trust people there the way u trust them here? That's all i'm saying.
There was one thing that trew me off a little. Luckily the movie was pretty much over. Songbirds Song. That was nothing. That was prewashed, prepressed, prepackaged overcooked pasta. Completely forgettable. Now i get Sia is... someone, i guess, and that is probably what she usually brings to the table. Not much, but OK. Fine. BUT!!!! Look at it in canon. She got invited to the Friendship-Bash in freaking Canterlot over Coutess Coloratura!!! You can´t tell me that this wet fart of a song was better than what RaRa would have brought to the biggest party ever!!!
It's probably just a joke, but sometimes I don't understand the 'furry' comments. If all you need is a two-legged, talking animal, then I guess Bugs Bunny, Mickey Mouse, Tom & Jerry are also for the 'furries'.

Original intro is better. That new intro did not fit the scenes at all. Also its not up to us to decide what characters would say or not say, Twilight did say that...period.

3 likes1 Her home is being attack and she doesn’t know the state of it.
2 she’s never been outside of Equestria so leaving a country that you spent your whole life in is stressful. It like saying you have to go to Andorra tomorrow( if this pandemic thing wasn’t happening)
3 her friends didn’t realize the threat level was EXTREMELY EPICALLY INSANE HIGH and KEPT bringing attention them AT THE WORST POSSIBLE TIME!
4 twilight was beyond desperate.
5 it is a wonder why twilight didn’t snap before then.

4 likesI can definitely see Twilight saying that because she did have a point.

5 likesBut yeah, there are no ifs, ands, or buts about it, Fluttershy really got shoved off to the side in this movie.
6 likesKarin Maaka I think it’s a consequence of the rest of the Mane Six, aside from Twilight (and to a lesser extent, Pinkie) being kinda shoved off to the side for the movie - so some of their notable characteristics were exaggerated so that newcomers to the franchise would (hopefully, at least) get a feel of what they’re like.
5 likesIt’s in-character for Pinkie to kinda be screwing around like that, not taking things so seriously, but because the others were kinda shoved off to the side, they weren’t there to rein her in, which is, I feel, down to the fact above that they felt they had to introduce these characters in a limited time and so they got a bit exaggerated, unfortunately.
6 likesAnd it was a running theme throughout the movie - Twilight thinking her friends were not up to the task, that she had to do everything on her own.
30 likesLike you mention, they really didn’t do anything to prove her wrong, and in fact, provided some ammo to prove her right (they clearly seem to not be taking things very seriously, or at least, not as seriously as Twilight wants - and then the whole thing with the Rainboom especially).
She is the "Are you seriously this goddamn dumb?!" voice of the viewer, and I am here for it
8 likes1:24:44 Tempest: "Why are you saving me?"
25 likesTwilight: "Because this is what friends do."
And at that moment, ironically, it was Tempest who opened up her eyes.
An all-star voice cast like Emily Blunt (done impressively well as Tempest Shadow), Taye Diggs, Sia, Kristin Chenoweth, Michael Peña, and Liev Schreiber were amazing alongside the main cast from the show.
15 likesLiked the reaction.
33 likesAs for Twilight's outburst, I can totally see it.

8 likesAs for why Discord or Starlight have no role in this movie, that's because despite the fact it's set up between Season 7 and 8, the production started way back in season 4 where Starlight wasn't even a thing and Discord's arc wan't really set up. But the movie is canon.
51 likesReplies (2)
Also Discord is way too OP and could snap any problem away instantly.
13 likesIn-universe reasons for their absences can even be reasonably explained.
3 likesThe entire movie has some Disney vibes:
5 likes- The escape chase scene with the windmill in Klugetown mirrors Pirates of the Caribbean with the water wheel.
Replies (1)
i first knew of her from "Breathe Me"
0 likesOn Twilight's little moment of shame, I agree it was totally out of character. However, she has said something like that in Season 2. During the premiere, when her friends were under Discord's spell, she yelled at them "With friends like you, who needs enemies". That's a pretty similar quote to this one.
7 likesI had the same reaction at first, but what I eventually came to interpret it as was that she wasn't saying it in general.
Fun fact: Bladerunner 2049 premiered same day as this movie in my country

5 likesJosh Blackwell I agree. I like both versions too, even though the original is mostly preferred over the other by most.
4 likesDefinitely prefer the new one. I suspect it's from the DHX leaks, because there were some things they made for the movie but then cut for purely "Hasbro" reasons (most notably replacing the original opening music with a dumb parody song)
2 likesits fine mate personally i like both equally.😉
7 likesI much prefer this one. Any chance you could find out from your friend where this version can be found online? I have been looking for it ever since I learned of its existence and have had no luck.
9 likes13:58 i really love the little detail here that right when twi sings "it's a promise to bring ponies together" and flies under the bridge, look who that is on the bridge! moondancer and friends!!
12 likesGlad to hear you enjoyed it! I saw it 7 (or maybe 8?) times in the theater (3 times at full price, and then 4 or 5 at a discount theater, just before the home media release) because I loved it so much.
2 likesOne thing that I will point out is that it is not the DHX leaks - there were two different versions of the leak floating out there right after the release - one which seemed to be a direct rip of the theatrical projection file (with a countdown at the beginning and everything - because yeah, everything’s digital nowadays), and one which cut off the very end of the credits, and both of them featured “We Got the Beat” as the opening song.

2 likesSpeaking of (new) characters, I generally enjoyed them all!
5 likesThis movie is definitely one of the greatest animated films I’ve seen in years.
Replies (1)
My guess is that they didn't want to give much screen time to a character who was going to be killed off, so none of the kiddies would get too attached to him and his death wouldn't be traumatic for them.
1 likeTwilight does behave "like that" on the anti-friendship thing, though. Once before. Season 2 premiere episode 2.
6 likes"With friends like you, who needs...
17 likesReplies (2)
I’d give it a 6.5/10 non-brony score, and a 5/10 brony score.
2 likesI agree.
8 likesHer friends kept making the job harder instead of helping... to be honest. It felt like they were a bit OOC. They have never messed around this badly when there's serious trouble.
2 likesPart of the reason that Canterlot fell so easily was due to the element of surprise (times two at least)-- not only was the Storm King's forces arriving an ambush, they also had new technology(?) or magic with those green pokeball petrifying things.
3 likesTwilight repeatedly saw her friends make (in her mind, blatant and dumb) mistakes, so she was far less trusting in addition to the stress.
4 likesTwo more seasons to go. You're getting there. You got this.

2 likesCompared to the parody intro they went with, it’s not as upbeat, and I guess you kind of feel the switch of mood more strongly when Tempest’s ship shows up. That said, I do like the original song intro probably just a tiny bit better. I can understand why they changed it, and I don’t mind either as they’re very close in quality for me, but I’m thankful I’ve heard their original composition too.

0 likesgreat reaction.
0 likesPerhaps I loved this movie so much more bec I got to experience it at the cinema it just feels way more enjoyable than watching it in your room

Indeed. I was practically levitating out of my seat during “Open Up Your Eyes” when I saw this movie at the theater!
0 likesI'm always partial to villain songs, so Open Up Your Eyes is my favorite in the movie, and I especially like Prince Whateverer's cover of it.

Same. In fact, it’s my second-favorite song in all of Gen 4! (“We'll Make Our Mark” is my favorite).

Yeah, at the last minute they stupidly decided to replace Daniel Ingram’s beautiful “Equestria” with the generic “Ponies Got the Beat” pop song. I really wanna punch whatever movie executive was responsible for that decision.
0 likesThe only thing i dont like about the movie is the song that was sung at the party, its far top somber for victory, but once DJ Pon-3 got on the song it was great and fit the tone more, also a bit more storm king would have been nice and yeh the princesses....i expected it by this point
3 likesLuna tried (and failed) to fly away, Cadance blocked a soccer ball (unsuccessfully), and Celestia said some words (also unsuccessfully). Sounds about right for those three 😂
0 likesAlso, I personally like to think that Starlight put up a good fight offscreen, and Tempest had to get involved in order to subdue her.
The visuals made me so glad that I saw it in theaters.
2 likesI have this movie on DVD.
1 like1:12:51 I’m not surprised Rainbow would be the first one to say “What?!” in a really worried way after Spike said “She’s been taken!”, then determined to get her back.

0 likesThe frustration you felt seeing Twilight blow up is how I felt seeing RD do the damn sonic rainboom.
1 likeTsk, the princesses are always taken down that easily.
1 likeThis is a great movie. There are a few flaws. Great introduction to the seaponies/hypogriffs. Tempest is easily the star of the movie.
1 likeReplies (1)
Yes, yes she is!
0 likesBefore watching your reaction, I didn't know the second intro exists and its much better than the original one.
1 likeI am glad you enjoyed the movie, the movie was meant to bring new fans to the show.
1 likeI did enjoy tempest, I wish she was the main villain in the movie. The songs were good, with some great ones. Over all, I think the movie was pretty decent(it wasn't awful but I wouldn't pay money to watch it). I think they could have done one much better, the season 2 or season 4 finales, maybe even season 7 finale would have been better movies.
Replies (2)
@@fizzycolalizzie From a practical point of view you are right, but I am talking about in universe. The movie is set after season 7, so I stand by my points. Discord was absent in many other season finales and premieres wen he could have helped so thats not shocking. If it was set in season 5 then I wouldn't complain about it(and the fact they shold have gone to one of their already existing allies first like the dragons), not to mention other plot conveniences.
0 likesI don't see how Starlight not being involved isn't understandable, since the writing of this movie happened before she was so relevant, or possibly before she was even in the show. Movies of this scale take a few years to make and they can't just chuck stuff in whenever, at least not big parts of the story. We should be grateful they even gave her a couple cameos because they really didn't have to. I would actually argue that it makes less sense for Discord to be absent.
1 likeI'm sure Rarity will find out eventually that when your bottom's on backwards, the best thing to do is pound it back into place.
5 likes1:21:38 Best moment of the movie, hooves down
0 likesYeah wow like a few other people in these comments I'm confused as to why you got a version with different music at the beginning?? Never seen that before! I love it though honestly I wish I'd seen the movie this way before and I wish my copy had this haha
0 likesI knew there were slightly different versions circulating in some way (when Twilight is raised up into the light at the end of "Open Up Your Eyes", sometimes she has red eyes for a second like photograph redeye but sometimes she doesn't) but hadn't seen this before. Would love to know where you got your copy from PonyBro this is fascinating to me
42:45 "Dang, Rainbow can sing."
4 likesAnd strut!
0 likesNew intro?!?!?! I had no idea about this until now :c
0 likesHeck...
1 likeReplies (4)
@@SpacialRend7 Possibly. Though with John de Lancie on the payroll, in addition to guest actors like William Shatner, Weird Al, Lena Hall and Patton Oswalt occasionally being hired as well, I'm guessing they can only afford to use so many high profile actors for the budget they have.
1 likeI’m not sure this would apply to Uzo Aduba that much since she voices Bismuth in Steven Universe every so often, when the episode plot demands it. So, if the MLP staff wanted to, they could have had Uzo come back to record for Novo.
0 likes@@SunnyEquus Yes, but in this case, the creators said that the actors did such a good job that they didn't want to replace them.
0 likesIt's not the reason for them not to have speaking roles though. It's a common thing for some big animated movies to have celebrity VAs, and then in TV shows produced later, just using substitute VAs.

To be fair the princesses have strong magic, but they were never really good at fighting. They're taking down off screen amolst every season.
0 likesI bet Twilight could kick their flanks.
well, you will react to the season 8 next...that season is in my opinion a great season, lot of new great characters will be introduced, in an all new context, with new characters development for the mane 6, some funny episodes, a unexpected plot in the season finale...you may will have some surprises in this season.
1 likeReplies (3)
Technically, I guess... That's correct. It's just I want things to be as unexpected and not thought-provoking as possible for blind reactors. :)
2 likes@@SunnyEquus hey, technically, i didn't wrote anything who will spoil season 8 for him , i didn't name the characters. or the conditions of characters development or the plot itself, i just say what he should expect for season 8, nothing more. and personally, this is not a surprise to see new characters developments in a new season because the 7 precedents seasons were partially about this and each season have brought new characters...
0 likesWhoa whoa, that was supposed to be a surprise! That's kinda spoiler for a blind reaction about characters lol
2 likesIt was even meant to be a surprise for regular viewers of the show, judging how it was presented in the premiere.
you have so much to react: season 8, season 9, The 3 specials of EG Magical Movie Night( Dance Magic, Movie Magic, Mirror Magic) the EG Summertime Shorts and Musicals shorts, The EG mini series 2 seasons and their specials episodes(5 in total).
1 likeMlp Anthology 3 ,4, 5, 6 and 7, Mlp Meets videos(Toucan LDM).
